I can't give enough praise for the legal skills of Steve Duckett. I work as a pharmaceutical sales rep and any points on my license can cost me my job. When a truck ran into me owned by a family with political connections, a witness appeared out of nowhere 20 min after the accident, and a despicable cop chose to give me a reckless driving ticket, I felt lost and without hope. I spoke to numerous lawyers but Mr. Duckett was the most professional, honest with expectations, costs and options. In the end, he actually was able to get the entire case dismissed! I would strongly recommend him and feel I owe that to others who've been through the ringer or just need a great lawyer at a reasonable cost.

I had a great experience with Steve Duckett and his team. We started my case with all odds against us. He knows his stuff. I never realized to what degree, the truth can be obliterated in the justice system just to convict an innocent person for other interest. When Steve has his game face on, nothing can stop him. Steve Duckett is a profound careful listener, a strategic thinker and a true human being. He just doesn't consider you a simple client. Steve goes beyond to see you as human without race, or religion, or education profile (in my experience), but rather a friend to fight for. The MAN took his private time on a Sunday to travel hours to my residence without charge just to ensure my family is fully prepared and understood the situation, the possible outcomes and our options. Steve was able to get through to the judge, the jury whom on multiple occasions were wondering why we were even in the courtroom to begin with. He is very professional with experience. I would recommend him! He was very professional and polite. He told me exactly what I needed to do to help me not get a reckless driving charge on my record. Which I didn't! The charge was lowered to a failure to obey traffic signs and all I had to do was pay a fine and no points on my license.

He was great .. He truly made a criminal case a easy going experience . Ofcourse it was ups and downs but he truly worked everything out for best. He will definitely get the job done in favorable position.

If you need a lawyer, you need to hire Steve. After you read this review STOP and pick up the phone. He's your man. Best.Lawyer.Ever. No ifs, ands or buts! When I received a RD charge, I had no idea how involved it was. And understand, I was doing 94 mph in 60 highway corridor zone; this is worse than a RD charge (which is grave on its own). So if you are reading this, you may or may not know it involves the risk of jail and suspension of your VA driving privileges. Not to mention that the state of VA did not care I was racing to my sister who was in labor and this was my first reckless driving charge. Yeah, it was very serious. I had one lawyer tell me to expect at least a suspension of driving privileges, which I couldn't afford because my sister lives down here and I help her with child care on the weekends (my brother-n-law is deployed). So needless to write, by the time I called Steve, I was near panic stricken. He was able to calm me and assure me that he could help while not diminishing the seriousness of the situation. He made time for me, told me what to expect and had some things for me to do to help mitigate the situation (which I followed to the letter!). When we got to court, I was still nervous and worried about my driving privileges. Steve was very nice and reassuring. He made me feel calm and hopeful. I cannot attest what Steve said to the prosecutor because the discussion was not done in my presence, but I got an amended charge; NO criminal misdemeanor!! This was particularly exciting because the norm in the PWC court was a 30 day suspended sentence for people with RD in my speed bracket. As a licensed provider in my state -- that may have hurt my career. I will give you some advice: If you're on the fence about hiring a lawyer know that northern VA is very strict with RD esp. in Prince Williams County, Fairfax... You need to call Steve for sound advice. He's an honest guy and will look out for your best interest. He'll ask you to do a list of things before court, and you must do this for the best outcome. To not do it is like buying a mint condition Porsche, but not putting gas in the tank. Wouldn't get very far right? Steve made this horrible experience bearable. I have known Steve for 30 years and he's always been a stand-up guy. He helped me with a traffic-related case a few years ago. As a result of his strategy, knowledge of the court system, and professional manner led to charges being dropped. I am truly appreciative of his work on my case.

We hired Steve Duckett to represent my 21 yr old son who received a reckless driving ticket. Steve was very honest about impact to his record, what could happen and what to expect. He counseled us with actions to take to show remorse and make amends. We did all of the activities, from letters of recommendation, driving classes, community service, etc. We ended up with two results - 1) a dismissal of the ticket; and 2) a scared and humbled son who learned a hard lesson in what could have happened to him for such poor decision making while driving. Sometimes it really does take a village to raise a child. I am very appreciative for the solid lesson Steve taught our son.

I recently received a reckless driving citation for traveling 80MPH in a 55MPH zone. After my online research revealed the severity of this charge, I was terrified. The long term cost of increased insurance rates and the potential danger to my security clearance led me to the decision to “lawyer up”. I narrowed my search to several lawyers in my area some of whom had relatively low flat rates for a defense of this sort. I spoke with a few to included Steve Duckett . . . I knew after his consultation that he was the man for the job. He was knowledgeable, frank, and courteous. He listened to my situation and described recommended actions in preparation for a defense of this charge. His demeanor, honest and confidence put me at ease and he got to work on my defense. He and his staff provided great advice assistance as we built my case file and strategy prior to the hearing. He put me at ease and provided an honest assessment of the best and worst case scenarios for the day in court. Steve obviously knows his way around the courtroom and his actions exuded competence, confidence and professionalism. The end result is that my charges were dismissed and I was only required to pay the court costs. My insurance and security clearance were unaffected. The old adage you get what you pay for was definitely true in my case. Although your defense with Steve may cost a little more than some of the others – you will be pleased with the result! I highly recommend Steve to you as I would to friends and family.
