I have to admit, after nearly 5 years of working with them and still not having my debt paid off, it feels like this process wasn't worth it. I have one remaining debt of $12K, and nearly $9K in my account that needs to be paid off. Yet, every month, it feels like the balance never gets closer to being resolved. At this point, I don’t understand why they can't call the creditor and negotiate directly. It finally dawned on me that the reason might be the high fees they charge. Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend them again, and I am determined to stay out of debt just to avoid working with them in the future. On top of that, my account password never works, and I never receive the reset email. For a company taking in so much money, having a properly functioning website should be a basic expectation—it's almost laughable.

I recently had the privilege of consulting with Manda regarding a pressing issue, and I must say, her expertise and genuine care left a profound impact on me. From the moment we began our conversation. Manda took the time to listen attentively, ensuring that she fully understood my concerns before offering her invaluable insights. Her dedication to providing comprehensive assistance was evident as she patiently explained the relevant laws, outlined various options, and discussed potential outcomes in detail. Manda's remarkable professionalism was matched by her warmth and empathy. She approached our consultation with genuine care and compassion, making me feel supported and understood every step of the way. Without hesitation, I wholeheartedly recommend Manda to anyone in need.

The State of Michigan Unemployment agency wanted me to pay back the unemployment funds I received during the pandemic. Within 2 hours of making an appointment through the office, Manda was already on the case, texting questions to me and asking for paperwork. Manda was thorough, confident and well prepared but also prepared me well for the hearing. Not only did I win the case but I received over $4,600 in back funds the State owed me. I would recommend her services to anyone!

Manda was recommended to me in regards to taking wrongful termination cases. Our first phone call was her gathering information about my case, the second phone call mirrored the same because she forgot. I paid her basically to get my files from my employer. She did not schedule an appointment or try to hear me out professionally. I'm am utterly disappointed with her services. She did not even try to work with me and I was very patient and respectful.

I personally do not recommend. Based on my experience with Mr. Sheerin, I have to say I'm very disappointed. It seems more like he works alongside Dr. Janoson to take your money more than to assist you. I met with him once, the day I walked into his office, and never saw him again after I submitted him my payment. Honestly did not see the point on paying him as Dr. Janoson was the person who did the work, he is only there to "submit" the paperwork using a template he uses for all his cases. When you hire a lawyer, you expect to meet with this person multiple times or at least speak to him (finding facts, things he can use to have a better picture and fight the case). The one time I spoke to him was a year later (over the phone) when I had to reach out asking for a follow up on my case. Don't waste your money when you can represent yourself. If NYPD requests you to submit additional documentation from a specific person follow up with the request. Or do your research and ask around. I reviewed the packet sent to NYPD by Mr. Sheerin with his "comments" it was a template used for all other cases, everything else was just information submitted to him by Dr. Janoson. Not to mention, that when I received the letter, the template used was for Suffolk County PD. When I called him, he gave me the run around and was very unprofessional referring to other lawyers that "only wanted to take" my money. Not to mention, he went on in regards to personal choices and did not even allow me to speak. Don't waste your money. And really do your research about who you are hiring. Do not ignore your findings. When I decided to hire him, I read some bad reviews, but I'm not the type of person to go by reviews and I even mentioned this to him when I met him. Don't fall for it (biggest red flag, is when he tells you that he would only work with Dr. Janoson). I'm rating only based on my experience, this does not mean, it may be the same case for anyone else. 2 Stars only because his secretary was awesome!

Hired him payed up front. Before hiring talked to me and basically said my case was a slam dunk. After full payment done he never talk to me only his secretary at times. I did all the work I when to my legal aid got a statement from her and coward it. I took my speak letter and delivered it myself. I got final dis cualificación and all he could tell me was we have to prove you are fit for the kid it doesn’t matter if the incident happened or not. He said it’s their call and nothing he can do about it. Why didn’t he just said this before horsing and be honest he just took my money and understood I really wanted the job and told me what I wanted to hear.

You have to be very careful about hiring this attorney. Your case will not get the full attention that it needs. You will have to check every thing he does including the spelling. He mixes up previous cases with yours. I had a case dismissed due to him not replying in time. Please do your homework and fully check this guy out. I do not want anyone to go through what I had to go through.

I would recommend to avoid using this attorney if at all possible. I was represented by Joshua Burt in a case against AT&T. When engaging the services of the attorney I signed a retainer agreement which clearly stated that he would have errors & omissions insurance (malpractice insurance). After the conclusion of the litigation I contacted Joshua to inquire about his insurance provider. Joshua told me that he did not obtain the contractually agreed to insurance. When I learned that Joshua did not adhere to the contract I contacted the California State Bar to inform them of the breach. The California State Bar informed me that Joshua was going through a personal financial crisis and as a cost savings decided to not purchase insurance. Also during settlement negotiations I requested for Joshua to withdraw as my attorney and dismiss the case. Joshua continued negotiating after my request for withdrawal. It would appear the Joshua's personal financial crisis motivated him to disregard my request for withdrawal and to engage in bad faith negotiations in order to obtain a quick settlement which contained in illegal waiver of rights pursuant to Business & Professions Code 16600. This is truly disappointing because Joshua does seem to have a great deal of knowledge of the law.

Im an attorney who found myself discriminated against and I hired Sean Casey to represent me (Brion Scudder) in two federal lawsuits. His work was amazing. In the first case he was able to get me my job back and then in the second case he was able to get me a $740,000 settlement. Not only does he have the legal knowledge but he also knows when to be conciliatory and when to be aggressive. As an attorney myself I know what it takes to be great at this job and Sean is the best Ive ever seen.

His dedication and expertise in handling my case were truly outstanding, going above and beyond in every aspect. Thanks to his diligent efforts, I received a settlement that far surpassed my expectations. We reached out to SB&R to request an initial consultation, which are offered complimentary to members of our union. We called and were told to fill out an online form. We very briefly filled out the form with minimal detail, intending to provide more information during the consultation. The firm's specialties appeared to align with the issues we were exploring. We received an email response. "We are unable to provide you with legal services for your matter. Thank you for contacting our law firm." We replied to the email to request clarification. We never received a reply.

I cannot say enough good things about this firm. They are not cheap, but I have always believed that it does not matter what a person pays for a given thing, as long as the money spent is worth it. Conor Dirks was the senior attorney throughout my issue. He was concise, candid and accurate. There were no surprises on billing. Conor briefed me on what he saw was a likely outcome, what he and his staff could do to help me, and let me make the choice. Throughout it all, Conor or his staff were in contact with me when necessary and they were always available to answer my questions. If you need an attorney and are having trouble deciding, call these people. The consult alone was very informative.

I can start by saying there was 2 attorneys involved in my can and the other one dropped the ball at every turn. if it was not for Shoham their firm would have been fired. My case was not that complicated but having the other atty messing things up and not push things forward really hurt me and my family. I found Shoham to always be cleaning up the other attorneys mess and keeping me grounded. Sometimes it was hard to get info on my case such as upcoming hearings and the results of hearings. Shoham was not suppose to be my main atty but ended up doing most the work. if I had to do it again i would make sure Shoham was the main atty or the only atty involved. overall he did a great job with the exception of some ups and downs but again I don't think he was to blame for those. Would I use Shoham Solouki again? Yes, i would but i would make sure he is the one working your case....

Atty Kelli Silva is a great attorney - when you need an attorney, look no further. For me,my health was bad and I was in the worst situation- I needed to be supported with benefits , including Workman’s Comp, SSDI and insurance challenges- Attorney Silva believed in me , and always told me not to worry , she will take care of the legal issues to help attain the benefits for me - My job was to focus on getting better- She kept her promise in so many ways . She is sincere, kind and the BEST lawyer you could ever ask for - The team that supports her is great - Mary Dianna and all the others behind the scene - Prior to this I didn’t know Keches law firm , I didn’t know Atty Silva , but what I did know is that after speaking with their team and reading the reviews,I felt confident this was the team for me- Three years later ,I can honestly say Kelli Silva and Keches law firm is the best and continue to be every step of the way!! Ware has now represented/advised me on 4 different legal matters, and two of them were not a formal engagement, but just reflective of his hidden compassion, whereas he never asked for a penny for his attentive help to educate my engaged attorney’s that only focused on billing! Ware has responded to messages during the early hours to quell my fears! Or his generosity of his off hours, by taking time on a Sunday, or while vacationing in the keys with limited cell service to address my concerns, that no attorney of his caliber would ever do, especially after 40+ years of private practice! He will try to and states that he keeps the emotions out of his process, and that he cant take an emotional stake in my cases, and he adamantly sticks to the rule of law, but his generosity of his time and help in cases that he has no financial interest in suggests otherwise. I have unfortunately had to engage 8 lawyers over the last 6 years, and his professionalism and his understated genuine hidden nature to protect and nurture his clients is a quality that reveals itself over the years. He genuinely cares to the accuracy and legal adherence to the rule of law and is beyond generous with his time! His assistant “Brittne” is so sweet, compassionate and reflects Wares’s core values.. in my opinion” integrity, honesty, caring compassionate advocate of my rights” I have not been 100% successful in all the matters that was represented for me. But if you want to have an attorney that is so brilliant and detailed and attentive, then Mr Cornell is the only lawyer you should consider. His is unlike any attorney I have ever engaged and if you want representation by the “shark” whereas all other attorneys swim in his pond!

We met regarding a labor case involving my employer and an ongoing Disablity discrimination and retaliatory harassment case. Even though we have not formally filed any charges because of special reasons, he already knows what he has to do to reduce expenses and get the end result we would like to see. He has measured the cons against the pros and gave his opinion based on what he knows about my employer and the type of courts we have here in Florida. My impression is that He is very knowledgeable and a matter of fact which I value in a lawyer. I appreciated his honesty even if it was not information I wants to hear. He offered his expertise opinion on how to deal with the case which was a wait and see after I am fired. Even though I’m not happy with having to continue to be harassed and the hostile working conditions I am being subjected to, I know that he will be the best to represent me because he has a plan in place. Immediately after my consultation, I provided over 700 pages of my evidence to him and with a small consultant fee he reviewed it over several weeks. He then scheduled me a few weeks later to discuss the plan and the pros and cons of my case. He did not charge a second consult fee and advised me of the approximate amount it would cost me to hire him for arbitration. He already knows the direction my case will have and what he needs to do. Based on this I feel he is competent and trustworthy. I am confident that he will deliver when the time comes. If you want to consult with an expert labor attorney please do not hesitate to meet with him and get the opinion of a true specialty attorney.

I met with Ware when he was recommended by a friend. I liked him right away, and I hired him. It was my first time hiring an attorney, and I should have asked him more questions to understand his work style. But I liked him and trusted my friend's recommendation. I would have been happier working with an organized, strategic planner. If I had received a phone call or email every couple of months with an update on my case, that would have been better. Had Ware spelled out the specifics of my financial obligations to him up front instead of sending me seemingly random and sporadic invoices, I would have trusted him more. But what really bothered me is that Ware took away ownership of my case. I told him I wanted to be at all the depositions for my case, but instead he held them without my knowledge. He did not consult with me to learn details that these depositions could have brought to light. I never heard from him after depositions with a summary of what took place. As I see it, this was my case, and Ware was there to help me, but he seemed to think I had little role in it. In the end, the real value of my case was over 200K less than his original estimate. When did he break this news to me? On the morning before the final mediation. It's been two years since my case concluded, and I waited to write this review because I wanted to see if time would soften my perspective. In the past two years, I've gotten to know dozens of attorneys through my current job, and have a clearer picture of attorneys can potentially operate. They can be organized. They can be transparent communicators. They can keep their clients in the loop. But Ware doesn't.

I hired Ayesa and we agreed on a flat fee contested divorce to take me to trial. After approximately 6 months of representation and after taking all of my money, she withdraws. I paid her $8000 in full to take me to trial as per the retainer agreement and she withdraws as she got hammered by opposing counsel. I begged and pleaded with her not to withdraw but she didn't care because she already got paid. Why continue to represent someone when you've already got all their money? Also be aware of her partner, they back each other up no matter how wrong the other one is.

I was very upset, when i met Mr. Smaili, as i had lost almost everything i saved from last 10 years and invested in the company i trusted on and i was employed with. Mr. Smaili took care of my case very personal and processed so efficiently that it got closed with getting my investment back along with a portion of my damages & profit share without wasting any time within 90 days. Thank you so much again for all that you have done and especially for being so supportive and understanding with me & generous.

Mr Weiner called me back the same day I left a message and he took his time to explain everything about my son's situation in detail. He even called me back about a month later to check in on him! I was so appreciative!! In the end our problem was resolved without having to hire him, but I would definitely recommend him! He truly cares and is there to help his clients.

I was asking him to help me with my id theft paperwork with this gis company to help me get a job, cause the items on my credit report are false, it took him forever to get back with me, once he got some of my paperwork, he just decided to not ask for more of my paperwork and told me he cant help me, I asked for a referral, he ignored me, I am sick and tired of being thrown around like a rag doll! I wouldn't recommend him to anyone I know.

I made the mistake of hiring this lawyer, and I found three weeks after signing the contract that she started to treat me like a flunky employee. She started to get angry at me on a regular basis for (a) too many emails (b) not enough emails (c) asking for status updates (d) asking questions .... She negotiated a settlement about one-fifth of what she originally estimated she would get, and this settlement would have yielded me ~$500 profit after deducting her fees. She required me to make multiple concessions to the opposing party prior to negotiating on my behalf. The retainer contract didn't discuss administrative fees, but she charged me separately for copying, postage, billing. My billing rate for her secretary was $100 per hour, even though she likely paid her secretary ~$25 per hour. She padded her bill in multiple ways, so that after 10 hours of work, she had gotten nothing for me done. Her bill padding fictionalized phone calls and emails that never happened. Run for the hills away from this ill-tempered, unprofessional, inefficient lawyer.

I can not adequately put into words how amazing Doug Kane is as a lawyer. I was dealing with a very difficult employer and Doug was able to navigate the inane and idiotic attempts by my former employer at dismissing my case. Doug was phenomenal at informing me of each step of the process, and offering me multiple options as to how we could proceed. Doug explained each piece of documentation, as well as all correspondence with the other parties attorney and the courts. He was almost always available to talk about the case, and if he was not he always scheduled a time to discuss the case. I am deeply appreciative for his kindness and his expertise. (Just don't ask him to speculate on the case! He only deals with the facts!) Ultimately I was VERY satisfied with the outcome and I would not hesitate to recommend Doug to anyone seeking counsel on employer/employee issues. 10/10 would recommend anytime.

Doug followed through with everything he said he was going to do, and in this world today that is hard to find. He valued my time from the beginning, he was calm when needed and assertive when necessary, great balance when negotiating. His long time experience was evident during the procedures, the case was settled quickly, thanks to Doug. I would highly recommend Doug Kane.

Worked with his office to resolve ongoing issues with my landlord. The landlord failed to make repairs. David’s office was very helpful. They explained which issues were actionable and which were not. Ultimately, a demand letter was written to the landlord and the owners. This resolved many of the issues and greatly improved the situation l.

What a Wrongful Termination Lawyer Can Do for You

A wrongful termination lawyer specializes in representing employees who have been illegally fired or laid off from their jobs. Wrongful termination occurs when an employer violates federal or state laws, employment agreements, or public policy when dismissing an employee. These lawyers help clients understand their rights, evaluate the legality of their termination, and pursue legal action to recover damages such as lost wages, benefits, and emotional distress.

If you believe you have been wrongfully terminated, a lawyer can guide you through the complex legal process, negotiate with your former employer, and advocate on your behalf to achieve a fair resolution.

When Should I Hire a Wrongful Termination Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a wrongful termination lawyer if you have been fired under circumstances that may violate the law. Common reasons include:

  • Discrimination: If you were terminated based on your race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age (40 or older), disability, or genetic information, this may constitute illegal discrimination under federal laws like Title VII of the Civil Rights Act or the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Retaliation: If you were fired for reporting illegal activities, discrimination, harassment, or for participating in an investigation or lawsuit against your employer, this may be illegal retaliation.
  • Violation of Employment Contract: If you have an employment contract that outlines specific terms for termination and your employer breaches these terms, you may have a claim for wrongful termination.
  • Public Policy Violations: If you were terminated for reasons that violate public policy, such as refusing to engage in illegal activities, taking time off for jury duty, or exercising your legal rights (e.g., taking family medical leave), a lawyer can help.
  • Whistleblower Protection: If you were fired after reporting your employer's illegal activities to a government agency (whistleblowing), you may be protected under specific laws.

Hiring a lawyer promptly is crucial, as there are strict deadlines (statutes of limitations) for filing wrongful termination claims.

What Does a Wrongful Termination Lawyer Do?

A wrongful termination lawyer provides various services to help you pursue a claim against your former employer:

  • Case Evaluation: Assess the facts of your termination to determine if your employer violated any laws or breached your employment contract.
  • Legal Advice: Explain your rights under federal and state laws and advise on the best course of action.
  • Filing Claims: Assist in filing a complaint with appropriate government agencies, such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) or state labor departments, if required before suing.
  • Negotiation: Engage in settlement discussions with your former employer to seek compensation without going to court.
  • Litigation: Represent you in court if a lawsuit is necessary, presenting evidence, questioning witnesses, and making legal arguments to support your case.
  • Documentation and Evidence Gathering: Help collect and organize necessary documents, such as employment contracts, company policies, performance reviews, emails, and witness statements.
  • Protecting Against Retaliation: Advise you on how to handle any retaliation or further adverse actions from your former employer.

How Are Wrongful Termination Lawyers Paid?

Wrongful termination lawyers typically charge for their services in one of the following ways:

  • Contingency Fee: Many work on a contingency basis, meaning they only get paid if you win or settle your case. Their fee is a percentage of the compensation you receive, usually ranging from 25% to 40%.
  • Hourly Rate: Some lawyers charge an hourly rate, which can range from $200 to $600 or more, depending on experience and location.
  • Retainer Fee: A retainer is an upfront payment against which the lawyer bills their hourly rate. Once the retainer is exhausted, you may need to replenish it.
  • Flat Fee: For specific services, such as reviewing a severance agreement, a lawyer might charge a flat fee.

It's important to discuss payment arrangements during your initial consultation to understand how fees and expenses will be handled.

How Much Does a Wrongful Termination Lawyer Cost?

The cost varies based on the complexity of your case, the lawyer's experience, and the fee arrangement:

  • Contingency Fees: If you win or settle, the lawyer's fee will be a percentage of the award. For example, if you settle for $100,000 and the contingency fee is 30%, the lawyer receives $30,000.
  • Hourly Rates: Total costs depend on the number of hours worked. A straightforward case might require 20 hours ($4,000 to $12,000), while complex cases can exceed 100 hours.
  • Additional Expenses: Be aware of other costs such as court filing fees, costs for depositions, expert witness fees, and administrative expenses, which may be billed separately.

Always request a written fee agreement detailing all potential costs.

How to Check the Credibility of a Wrongful Termination Lawyer

  • Verify Their License: Check your state's bar association website to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  • Review Their Experience: Look for lawyers who specialize in employment law and have specific experience with wrongful termination cases.
  • Read Client Reviews: Websites like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google Reviews can provide insights into the lawyer's reputation.
  • Ask for References: Reputable lawyers should be willing to provide references from past clients.
  • Professional Memberships: Membership in organizations like the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA) indicates a focus on employment law.
  • Disciplinary Record: Ensure the lawyer has no history of disciplinary actions or complaints.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting:

  • Employment Documents: Bring your employment contract, employee handbook, offer letters, termination letter, and any severance agreements.
  • Performance Records: Include performance reviews, commendations, or any disciplinary actions.
  • Correspondence: Provide emails, texts, or memos related to your termination or any incidents leading up to it.
  • Witness Information: List names and contact information of colleagues who can support your claims.
  • Timeline of Events: Prepare a detailed account of events, including dates and descriptions of incidents.
  • Previous Complaints: If you filed complaints with HR or external agencies, bring copies.
  • Questions: Write down any questions you have about your case or the legal process.

Being well-prepared helps the lawyer assess your situation effectively and advise you on the best course of action.
