I hired Vincent based on good reviews and a referral from a friend. His rate seemed reasonable, so I decided to work with him. Our initial conversation was smooth, although brief, and I felt confident moving forward. I paid the retainer on 8/17, and he promptly filed the initial form on 8/19. When he informed me that papers were served on 8/27 and the respondent had 30 days to respond, I thought things were progressing well.
However, my positive impression quickly faded. I followed up with him on 9/11 and 9/18 without any response. He finally called on 9/19, four hours late, and reassured me that “everything was fine.” When I questioned why he hadn’t filed the proof of service of summons, he brushed it off, saying it wasn’t necessary to file it right away and would handle it later. He advised waiting until mid-October, to which I agreed.
From there, communication became nonexistent. I followed up on 10/14 with no reply and reached out again on 10/24, 10/25, and 10/28—still nothing. Aside from filing the initial paper with the court, he has done absolutely nothing further on my case. When I contacted the courthouse myself, I learned that my case had been left completely unattended, with the court even requesting a status update due to inactivity.
Vincent’s behavior was not only unresponsive but also unprofessional at every turn. Missing scheduled calls, failing to provide updates, and ignoring my questions demonstrated a lack of respect for my time and trust. He even used a personal “gmail.com” email account instead of a professional one, which, looking back, was an early red flag. His entire approach felt more like a one-man show than a legitimate law firm.
Vincent comes off as convincing and charming on the phone (when you can reach him), but if you’re looking for someone who will swiftly take a retainer, make empty promises, and waste your time, he’s your guy. I wasted two months trusting that he was working on my case while, in reality, he had abandoned it. Now I’m forced to dismiss the case he filed and start over—an unfortunate setback given the lengthy court process.
Please beware of Vincent when choosing a lawyer to represent your case. His unprofessionalism, lack of accountability, and disregard for his clients’ time make him a poor choice if you need real legal representation.

I got fired from working at a huge corporation, as an older woman with a disability after being with the Company for nineteen years. I initially contacted a couple of attorneys who were not interested in taking my case or even talking to me. Fortunately, I found Dan Atkerson. I left a message on hisanswering machine and he immediately called me back and took the time to listen to my story. On the spot, he agreed to represent me.
The Company refused to give me any severance pay, but after just four months, Mr. Atkerson had finalized a settlement, and I promptly received a check. There was not any out of pocket expense for attorney’s fees. Giving up a small percentage of the settlement in exchange was so well worth it. I never would have received a settlement without Mr. Atkerson.
My former giant company has the best of the best attorneys. It’s not easy winning against them and they are intimidating. I was hit by an SUV while walking in 2021. Mr Raven told me he could get me over $100,000. Without going to court he knew I didn’t want to go to court He said he could negotiate with insurance companies so that I wouldn’t have to pay them any money. It wasn’t until mid 2024, that Ted fully explained-that insurance companies can demand money back when you use your insurance when you’ve had an accident.And I started getting bills from my insurance co in 2022. I even had to pay interest! I had to send him my information more than once as his Assistant misplaced the documents that I originally sent. And he dropped the ball. There were some follow-up visits that were necessary for me to have explaining how the damage to one leg impacted my ability to walk and resulted in me, needing to have surgery on the other leg, and also exacerbated the original leg injured by being hit by the SUV. He’s very unorganized and when he and if your cases isn’t worth a lot of money, he’ll stop communicating with you wound up with $16,000. He wound up with $22. He charges 45% and we had talked about him not taking 45% given the errors that he made, but he still charged me 45%, because he said he had to file the case in court, but we never went to court. He only agreed to reduce it to just 40% if I didn’t post my negative review. So beware, there may be lots of positive reviews but I guarantee you he negotiated to avoid the negative ones. I would just stay away. He's not organized And he’s not honest.

Raven Law is an amazing law firm. As a small business, Ted Raven delivers an absolutely amazing personal touch. Ted would always return my calls and explain things to me thoroughly and clearly to the point that I was never left with any questions. Even though I had medical insurance through Kaiser and Medi-Cal, they were both asking for large sums of money from my settlement that Ted was able to negotiate and bring down significantly, to the point that I was able to get a larger settlement for myself. I would absolutely recommend Raven law to anybody who is looking for an injury lawyer. It was so nice actually talking to an attorney and not just people relaying messages for an attorney. I hired Howard to represent me in a traffic case in Durham County. The initial charge was G.S. 20-141(j1), and we were able to enter a plea of responsible to G.S. 20-123.2 (improper equipment) with no required conditions. This is the best possible outcome for a speeding ticket in NC, as it is a non-moving infraction that has no insurance impact, no points, and no per-policy limits or out-of-state issues like a PJC.
Howard was able to effectively present my case, clean driving record, and letter to the court to the DA's office to obtain this plea deal. It is essential to have a lawyer who knows the local DAs and is willing to put in the time to continue the case to a date with the most favorable DA/district judge. Howard was able to obtain an improper equipment in my case even though it was outside of the usual guidelines for this county, and without a requirement of traffic school. Despite staffing changes in the DA's office, Howard was able to adapt and get a strong deal even with a brand new DA.
Howard appeared around four times in court all for a flat fee that was about equal to the cost of the ticket. It took about five months in total to resolve the case, and I did not have to appear in court at all. Most speeding tickets are going to cost $250-350 in fines/costs. The question is what will happen to your driving record and insurance rates. That is where paying Howard a few hundred dollars is well worth it. Defense lawyers know the DAs and they have a professional rapport with them. I thought about going to court myself, but even though I had a good idea of the laws, I wouldn't have known the people and procedures to expect in this county. Howard knows exactly what to expect and how to best present the case to the DAs.
Howard never routes calls or texts to a secretary--some of the lawyers I contacted, and many that sent advertisements in the mail, did not even let you talk to a lawyer before hiring them. Howard gave a lengthy phone consultation at no charge and was in no hurry. Howard will ask to see your citation and driving record before giving a flat fee quote for the case. If available for your case, you'll also have to fill out a waiver of appearance form if you do not want to appear in court each time yourself.
I actually found Howard by chance by looking at the bar directory, and he was a bit surprised as he does not do any advertising. If you've come across this listing I would definitely recommend giving him a call. I think it's best to call a few different lawyers as I did, and choose who you feel most comfortable trusting your case with. Cross out anyone who doesn't give a real consultation or pushes you to decide right away. Whatever you decide to do, Howard will give you a consultation and put you at ease regarding your case. As a local college student, Howard provided a service that was affordable to me and well worth the money.

This company was retained to assist someone trying to steal my land. They clearly have a losing case. This firm has delayed every email and settlement offer presented to them. They takes weeks or months to respond to calls and emails if at all. It is clear they are doing this to delay the process to rack fees for their clients. Read all the horrible reviews about this firm online and how they treat their own clients and opposing counsel offering them more than generous settlements. We have 7 attorneys and have never experienced this kind of unprofessionalism. Even our property insirance company and the firm retained said this is the most unprofessional communication ever. I am so so glad that I hired John as a consultant in a severance negotiation with my employer after my job was terminated.
