Frugal Legal Services should be the staple for how all parents are represented in custody cases. Ms. Burroughs worked hard and diligently on my case and set realistic expectations. My case had a ton of unrelated issues to custody and Ms. Burroughs was completely understanding and worked through our nearly 9 month case. Ms. Burroughs is a magical and enlightening person who gets results. I went from having no contact with my children to now everything is 50/50 and I get to see my sons every other week and have the assurance that no one should be able to change that. The only shame here is that I can only give Ms. Burroughs and Frugal Legal Services 5 stars because it doesn’t let you show off the absolute brilliance of the firm or Ms. Burroughs. Ms. Burroughs and Frugal Legal Services are the prime and top option of any family matters should anyone require those services. Several months before our 89 year old father’s death, my sister set up an appointment with attorney Bill Siebers to prepare a will and power of attorney for Dad. My sister, my wife and I attended the appointment with my father and all four of us were truly impressed. We were welcomed and made comfortable. Bill was on time, very polite and very friendly. Mr. Siebers was attentive and understanding as we explained my father’s financial condition and medical state. Bill asked questions to gain better insight and often directly inquired of my father to be sure that the focus was Dad’s wishes and interest. When my father interjected several of his experiences from serving in WWII, Mr. Siebers showed genuine interest and patiently listened.
In the days to follow, Mr. Siebers prepared the documents in a timely and professional manner. In the meantime my father had been admitted to the hospital with his future unknown. Bill arranged for himself, his wife and his assistant to visit Dad and to sign the documents with along with Dad at the hospital. This made Dad feel “special”.
Several days later my father passed away. As power of attorney of the estate, I hired attorney Bill Siebers to handle the estate affairs. Bill did an excellent job of explaining the process and my duties to all of the family members. Throughout the process, Bill has been outstanding at communicating through email, postal service and phone calls.
Attorney Bill Siebers is polite, friendly, attentive, understanding, knowledgeable, professional, and detail-oriented. All of this while providing his services at very reasonable costs.

Attorney Siebers assisted with the administration of my mother's estate. In addition to the usual duties, there was a trust agreement that was modified to suit the heirs. He was clear in his interpersonal and written communications. He was knowledgeable about the pertinent laws and practical application of them. He was efficient, thoughtful and compassionate. His fees were reasonable.
Our experience with Attorney Siebers was entirely satisfactory. So much so that we asked him to draft and ultimately implement our estate plan, which is state of the art.
Since then there have been questions that have arisen in other areas of the law. He responded promptly to our calls and when it was outside of his expertise/practice, he made an excellent referral.
This man has the essential qualities for our attorney. He is ethical and professional.

We were faced with losing everything that my mother and father had worked for their entire lives because my mother had a stroke. People always hear of all the horrors of not being prepared for the possibility of sudden illness or incapacitation brought on by any medical procedure or health problem. Well I can say that everyone should find a reputable Attorney, like Jason McMahon, and get your affairs in order before those horror stories take you and your family down in a heartbeat. There are so many rules and regulations as well as "Loopholes" involved in getting your family member accepted for Medicaid that nobody, except an Attorney, can possibly know, discover or understand. If you wait until an emergency occurs, you will be in the same boat we were in and without a paddle as well. I was very fortunate in finding an honest, hard working, concerned, dedicated, knowledgeable, etc., etc., Attorney in Jason McMahon. I can honestly say that I have never had such fine fortune in my life before, so I am very thankful. It is very true that an Attorney is expensive, but when you consider their fee against what you have to lose, an honest Attorney like Mister McMahon will earn every penny you have to pay out. Mr McMahon's fees are actually a bargain when compared to other Attorneys as well anyway. All this said, if (when) we ever need another Attorney, we will definitely be calling on Jason McMahon first. He has definitely felt like a very great friend on our side for the entire process of getting my mother accepted for Medicaid. Thank You Jason, from the bottom of our hearts for an exceptionally well done task.

The words in the review title that I used all describe Jason very well. I first met Jason as a result of a friend's recommendation. My friend lives in Thailand and needed someone that he could trust to handle his father's affairs regarding nursing home care, medicaid, and estate matters. At that time, I was caring for my elderly Uncle's affairs while he was in a nursing home. I needed advice on how to proceed with Medicaid and all of my other Uncle's needs. Upon my first meeting with Jason, I took and immediate liking to this man. He is a very personable, compassionate, knowledgeable and caring individual who one can trust implicitly to do what is best for his clients. I have absolutely no regret at all in retaining Jason to represent my Uncle. He did a wonderful job and met our needs well. He followed through with everything and everyone and represented my Uncle with nursing home authorities, medicaid, probate etc. He always returned calls and emails promptly if I couldn't reach him directly. After working with Jason for almost a year on my Uncle's estate needs, I can say that we have developed more than just a client/attorney relationship. I consider Jason a true friend and know that I can count on him in the future should I need his assistance. I have recommended Jason to my sister-in-law who needed help with her mother and Medicaid and to a friend who needed help with a Will and Advanced Directives. Everyone that took my recommendations for Jason, have had nothing but good things to report back and are highly satisfied with his expertise. Paige and James are an incredible team! I was in a very complicated and uncertain predicament both financially and legally. I had a tragic situation that took my father's life, my mom was extremely ill and living in an outragelously expensive nursing home. I had met with 4 estate planning attornies before I found Paige and James and every single one basically told me there was nothing they could do for me. (and charged me a lot to tell me no and nothing!!) I was an emotional mess, exhausted and confused. I called a 5th attorney who couldn't help me because she didn't handle Lake County, but referred me to James Siebert. I met with James and Paige to discuss my situation. They didn't tell me no, they said maybe and we will have to see. They gave me multiple options to my senairos and advised me on what they felt was the best way to handle each issue I was faced with. I listened to them, I did what they suggested. Fast forward almost two years later and the outcome was more than I had ever hoped for. I am so grateful for them. I reached out to James for legal help after years of caring for my mother with Alzheimer's at home while also dealing with my Parkinson's. James was quick to assess our situation and present options from which to create a plan of action to meet our immediate and future needs.
James directed our assembly of required documentation from multiple sources for previous five years, advised on and supervised sale of our rental house, and coordinated tax planning for maximum financial benefit. He recommended options for distribution of funds, including gifting and special needs trusts applicable to my mother and myself, that allowed for immediate additional assistance to my mother and provided for my future disability needs. James was also successful in filing Medicaid application for my mother. We needed an attorney to review our elderly mother's estate planning documents, as they haven't been reviewed in almost 15 years. Allison, from the initial contact through the signing of new documents, was incredibly prompt in her responses, professional and extremely knowledgeable. She reviewed our paperwork at no cost, and then made some recommendations for us.
We hired Allison to draft a Power of Attorney and a new Health Care Directive, as the laws have changed quite a bit over the past 10 years or so.
The cost was very reasonable but more importantly, Allison's "bedside manner" with my mother was nothing short of fantastic. Sensitive to how this type of planning can affect some elderly people, Allison made it VERY easy for our mother to understand what she was signing and why. She showed compassion, understanding and above all, patience.
Without question, I would recommend this attorney (and her staff) to anyone who needs estate planning or really any planning for that matter where a lawyer that actually knows law, is needed.

Sara helped our family successfully navigate a difficult and divisive time at the end of my mother’s life. She is a consummate professional with a breadth of experience (I believe she’s seen it all!), knowledge, and understanding. Sara ensured that mom’s wishes were respected and when mom developed dementia, skillfully shielded her from a relative who was seeking to take advantage. Since my father had not left a will when he passed, what little I knew about estates was that I would need help with my father's. I contacted Sara by phone and we spoke briefly and set an appointment to speak in person. Sara was not the first attorney I spoke with but the first to interview with me. At the interview I explained why I needed her help, I also showed my limited knowledge of what was before me. By the end of the interview Sara agreed to help me through the probate process. In the following months Sara worked on my behalf with the court and advised me what was expected of me as the administer of the estate. Through the whole process there were times I felt overwhelmed with the "business" of settling his estate and sometimes became quite emotional over my personal loss. But, with kind words and a firm direction Sara kept me on track and focused. I guess that's why attorneys are called counselors. Finally, with Sara's continued support and guidance, things were at an end and the estate was dissolved. There are things that happen in life that happen to other people and you think, that's too bad. But when one of those things happens to you you think, how will I get through this. I don't know how things would have turned out with someone other than Sara, I don't need to think about it. Sara was the best possible attorney for me to have helping me with her hard work, her knowledge and experience and her empathy. I plan on having Sara help with my estate planning since having experienced this ordeal once, I do not want to leave something like this to my loved ones.

Many years ago I had chosen SS&B to help establish the first estate plan for my wife and I. Recently at the passing of my wife, I needed to update all of these plans. Obviously having just lost my wife of almost 40 years and having to pull out all of those documents that we had created together added a bit of stress to a difficult time, added to the stress we had all been facing during the COVID pandemic of 2020. Attorney Abbott and her entire team not only helped direct me through all of the steps need to make my transition to this new estate plan, but also worked with me to be sure all of the questions were asked and answered thoughtfully knowing that my brain had difficulty focusing on almost anything, no less the redoing of my estate plans. Her calm and supporting presence though this made a difficult time bearable. She was working to support me not only to complete this new plan, but also as a person. She would take the time just to talk and not just dive into the needed work on the documents. She was the person, and they were the team that was needed for me to get through this most necessary process.
