In 1981 at the age of 13, I arrived in the US as a refugee and received my green card shortly thereafter. In my youth, I committed multiple offenses, one of which was serious enough to be considered an "aggravated felony" for immigration purposes. However, despite of my record, I still wanted to become a citizen so that I could travel internationally without having to worry if I would clear immigration and customs upon returning. I also knew that my case would be complex and that I needed a good and experienced attorney to help me. My search started in 2010 (by this time I have been living as a green card holder for almost 30 years). I contacted multiple highly rated immigration attorneys listed on avvo.com and felt the most comfortable and confident with Mr. Chavez.
The process began with the office conducting a comprehensive review of my background and obtaining certified copies of court records. The work was impressive as they did not miss anything, and I know for certain that I could have never done this myself.
After carefully reviewing my record, Mr. Chavez recommended that, for now, I should not apply for citizenship because the risk was too high that USCIS could start removal proceeding against me. His strategy was for me to continue to follow the law, volunteer my time, and wait until the law is more favorable to my case before applying. I was devastated with this news because to me it meant to forget about ever becoming a citizen and this was the end of the road.
However, I didn't give up and neither did Mr. Chavez. I set a reminder and send an email to Mr. Chavez every few months just to check if there are any changes to the law that would benefit me. Then six years later (2016), Mr. Chavez and Caitlin Twyman contacted me to let me know that there is a pending case with the Supreme Court that could help (or hurt) me, depending on the decision. (The case is Mathis v. United States: http://www.scotusblog.com/case-files/cases/mathis-v-united-states/). After determining that Mathis v. United States helps my situation, Mr. Chavez recommended that I apply.
With renewed confidence (on my part), and with the help of the office, we submitted my N-400 application in December 2016. On 03/22/2018, I had my interview with USCIS. During the interview, I was accompanied by Mr. Mark Lee (one of the excellent attorneys at the office). After the interview, the Officer stated that because my case was complicated, he needed more time to review (this usually means a long delay). However, Mr. Lee requested that the Officer review my while we were there so that we could answer any questions he may have. To my surprise, the Officer agreed and after reviewing my file, he verbally told us that he would recommend "approval" for my application. However, his decision was not final and pending a review/approval by his supervisor (this meant that it could be denied even though he wanted to approve). I believed what Mr. Lee did expedited the process by at least a few months and greatly helped my case. Then on 03/30/2018, I received a phone call from the Officer (who was great) informing me that my case has received final approval. Wooohooo, this was one of the best news I have received in a long time!!!!
After taking the Oath and receiving my certificate of naturalization on 04/17/2018, I feel as if I have been reborn, and I am forever grateful for the work done by Mr. Chavez, Mr. Lee, Ms. Twyman, Ariel, Beatriz and the support staff. I'd like to Thank the Office of Chavez and Valko for their hard work. I was very pleased with their extensive preparation for my case. They are very professional and courteous. For a little over 9 years, I had consulted with other immigration forms, and non of them could help me. They always gave me the "run-around" and uncertainty for my case. Being that another firm had lost all of our documents for immigration, With Chavez and Valko hard work, they were able to "find" copies of my documetns dating back to 1994! Also, during the interview, the officer was surprised that Chavez and Valko were able to get copies o fhtese documents. The officer also congratulated Chavez and Valko for this accomplishment. I engaged Dawn for the third time. This time to supervise my naturalization process. I would not have hired anyone but her.
I know her and I trust her based on all the work she did for me over the last 4 years.
She successfully helped me file the I-130, I-485, I-102, I-765 I-751 and finally my N400. All were approved on schedule or sooner with no RFE.
On the day of my N400 interview she helped me correct some of the information USCIS had misfiled which relieved quite a bit of stress off of me.
Dawn even joined me for my oath ceremony. If that's not going above and beyond the call of duty for an attorney, I don't know what is.

My application for naturalization was denied as USCIS wanted proof that i traffic citation i had over 8 years back was paid. Dawn was thorough in her consultation and guidance and helped in applying for hearing. After applying for the hearing with all possible documentation, which Dawn guided well USCIS realized that there was no point in calling for the hearing and directly sent notice for oath ceremony.

I applied H1B this year and my company lawyer filed the application. It is selected in the lottery, but I received an RFE in July. The RFE reason is special occupation and beneficial qualification. I worked with my company's lawyer for the first two months, but is not satisfied with their work. My friend recommends Calvin to me and he is great. He quickly started to work on my case and outlined a few key points for the RFE response. We then started to prepare the material and got most material prepared within 10 days. Calvin is very patient and answers all my questions immediately. Although I am located in Seattle area, I am always able to communicate with him by email or phone calls. The RFE is finally approved last week. I would strongly recommend Calvin to anyone who is applying for H1B or responding to H1B RFE. I may also consult or hire him for future immigration questions/cases.

I applied for H1b in 2017 and I didn't use Calvin in the beginning. However I got a RFE in August and my previous lawyer was not responsible and not caring for my case. Googling all the reviews online I chose Calvin, who is very experienced and professional, and it turned out to be the perfectly right choice. He cared about my case and brought out a lot of helpful suggestions.
Everybody experienced this know how frustrating, his timely replies, confidence are really comforting.
Anyway, I will continue have Calvin handle my other immigration issues and will highly recommend to my friends.

To describe what Miriam and the Riedmiller Immigration Law Firm has done for me is a pleasure. Miriam Riedmiller is a knowledgeable, attentive lawyer who helped me out at every step of the way with my fiancée visa. I needed a K1 and K2 visa for my fiancée and the children as well as the I-129F. Due to the excellent preparation that Miriam performed we were able to get a quick turnaround and have the I-129F approved in less than 3 months. Miriam went above and beyond in doing everything in her power to make sure my case reached early completion.
When I first looked up Miriam Riedmiller, I was instantly impressed with her 25 years of experience and how she was the lawyer that other lawyers come to for advice. I also noticed she was a Filipino American which was very helpful because my fiancée was from the Philippines. I needed a person like Miriam on my team who understood the law, the cultural, and the personal issues that are involved with immigration. After working with her for a year and a half I got all that and more.
There were times when things were challenging from the government side, such as technical issues with the website. When my case ran into difficulties, Miriam stayed up late and spent extra hours with me to make sure the issues was resolved. Miriam B. Riedmiller is an experienced and dedicated U.S. Immigration attorney who is very passionate about her area of practice. When I least expected it I met “the one” in France. A dear friend of mine recommended Miriam who fortunately had the time to handle our case. As is the case with most immigration cases, we hit a couple bumps along the way and each time Ms. Riedmiller’s ingenuity and creativity, not only resolved the issue, moved our case along even further. In our case Miriam demonstrated the ability to turn a Request for Information into an opportunity!
I was fortunate to have our case processed in 2015 before the current craziness. Now, more than ever, it is critical to have competent attorney representation -- Homeland Security and State Department priorities can be changed at anytime and every U.S. Embassy seems to have its own set of rules making every immigration case one of a kind. Ms. Reidmiller is not the least expensive attorney performing this type of work but I cannot be more pleased with the results. With her representation, I was able to get a K1 Visa application approved in just over three months and the fiancé Visa four months later. We are happily married and living in the U.S. We still have one more hurdle to cross next year and will be retaining Miriam to represent us.

This review is long overdue. I was desperately looking for information about possibly getting an LPR for my son who is born outside the US. I was outside the US at the time, so I posted my questions on avvo and ither legal free forum but only few responded with real answer, most of the lawyers basically said they can’t answered now but to make appointment with them which mean money first. But Mr. Maina kindly answered most of my questions and scheduled a free conference call with me & my husband to answer more questions that we had. He was straightforward and clear on the instructions of what we had to do prior coming to the US and when we made it to the US he even gave us consultation in his office & told us the form to filed and the next step to do without paying anything. I waited a few days to write this review because I was still processing how my life has changed for the better in a matter of months.
I called Mr. Szabo about one year ago. After speaking to him I decided to hold off filing my bankruptcy. I wanted for about two months before I called again and I now cannot believe I was waiting. I was the only one who was in the way of getting rid of my debt.
Mr. Szabo was very nice. He did not rush me. The price I got is better than I was quoted anywhere else. But more important for me, Mr. Szabo or his assistant were always available to speak with me and calm me down when it was needed.
Last week I got a call from Mr. Szabo telling me that my debt has been discharge. I can now get on with my life and not have to worry about debts that were hanging over my head.
