I now realize why they call it a custody battle. I went to war with my former spouse to get custody of our children. We did take a few blows in the battles, but I had a great commander and chief keeping me out of harm's way, her name is Attorney Karen Miller. The worst thing in the world is that our children's college money was used to finance this war. The problem is not with the attorneys but with the system. Many times we went to court, the Judge would ask us to return. I just want readers to know that I wanted to give up on many occasions; however, Attorney Karen gave me positive reinforcement to not give up on my children. We finally have our victory, and I am grateful that I stuck it out with Attorney Karen. If you do what she says, you will do well in court. It does not happen overnight to get out of your troubles, but I had to realize that our legal woes did not happen overnight either. Bless you Attorney Karen and your wonderful staff for always offering me and my family hope that we would prevail. I still owe you and your staff that dinner by the ocean.

Ms. Miller cares about her clients. I have been a client for the last 15 years since my eldest son was 3.
Fortunately he just turned 18 and is no longer a victim of his mother. I have 2 younger children, 16 and 14. We are still going to court everytime their mother wants to make a change in their stable program. Everytime their mother looses thanks to Ms. Miller's superior skills as an attorney. The children's mother has hired over 6 attorneys in the last 15 years and all have of those attorneys have been defeated mainly because I have had Ms. Miller at my side. Thank you for being a winner for my chikdren and saving them from their unstable mother. If you have a horrible ex who keeps taking yiu back to court, I would highly recommend Ms. Miller. She is a great attorney who fights throughout the years for her clients.

My friend highly recommended Karen after I told my friend the problems I was having with my now former attorney. My former attorney was called a pit bull, but turned out to be a pussy cat. Karen was in my corner day one. She knows the system and how to win this game. From the very first time we stepped into court, it was apparent that this is her home at court. Linda cares for her client and is involved in your case completely. Both are qualities you won't find in the majority of attorneys. She is experienced and uses her knowledge to look at the case from various aspects; rather than collecting a retainer and carelessly shuffling your case thru the system. Julia is great. My only regret is that I wish I had found her sooner. I had to learn the hard way that there are a lot of bad lawyers out there. Divorce is very stressful, but Julia was able to minimize that stress and help me come to the resolution I was looking for with out destroying any future chances for a successful co-parenting relationship.

My experience with Jennifer was wonderful. I was divorced for three years and was no longer receiving adequate support for my child. Child support was not an issue at the time of my divorce and a few years after. However, things changed and I needed support for my child. I was extremely afraid and sad that I needed to embark on legal proceedings to garner support. I didn’t receive any recommendations and was cold calling family law attorneys that I found on the web. Jennifer was one of the lawyers I found during my search. I was initially impressed with her credentials and her level of experience. Jennifer returned my call the same day I left her a message inquiring about her services. During that initial phone call she pulled up my case information from my divorce while I was on the phone with her. She reviewed my file and gave me great advice during our first conversation. I knew from the first phone call that she would be amazing.
I met with Jennifer a few days later, with fears and tears. During that meeting she let me know that I had a great case, along with what to expect, how long the process would take, and what I may have to endure. I was extremely unsure of my rights, but Jennifer provided excellent legal counsel. Jennifer provided me with a sense of ease that I desperately needed.
My case lasted almost a year, during that time Jennifer was always available, always provided everything I needed to know and what I needed to do along the way.

First of all I would like to thank Miss Ramsay. About a year ago I lost everything. My home my children everything. I did a consultation with Miss Ramsey the day after everything happened. There was no sugar coating she didn't try to fill me with hopes and dreams she told me the facts and laid down the realistic possibilities of fighting in family court.
Miss Ramsay and her paralegal never ignored me or made me feel like my case wasn't important to them. There were several Court hearings never-was Miss Ramsey late or unwilling to talk to me before the hearings.
She constantly kept me up-to-date on everything that was going on in my case. I did not feel that there was anything she did that I did not know.
I would suggest Miss Ramsay to anyone that is having any kind of legal family issues. She help me fight my OOP and was there with me through the entire process. Because of what happened I had not seen my children in a year. And because of Miss Ramsay I ended up getting 50/50 custody as well as joint decision making of my children.
Going through family court with an attorney as an extremely expensive proposition. But I say this with all honesty if you want a family attorney that is honest and will be there and listen I would suggest no one else than Miss Ramsay. And that every single penny you spend with her will be worth it.

For having a difficult job, Brandy will actually argue or fight for you...i wish she gave me more advice but she does her job well...an attorney is suppose to fight for you and give you advice and i've had a few that have done neither...I dont know what they did really.....she did a good job, is funny and not serious or jaded by this profession and doesn't try to bill you excessively....hire her because if I did my first time I would ahve saved 20k +

I had consulted with several divorce attorneys, and I finally was referred by a friend to John Fay. John Fay explained everything in a way that I understood and in a way that put me at ease. His extreme wealth of knowledge was very valuable and he was a trusted advisor throughout the process. There were some twists and turns throughout the journey, and John Fay navigated through the changes in a calm matter while always pushing things forward. Mike has a desire to be successful in his services and representing myself. This was first demonstrated to me when Mike did his research on me to determine if I was being honest with him in the beginning. When he was certain that he was given all the correct facts, he took on the case. I really appreciated this, because when he accepted my case, he was committed to it and to me. Mike would review every aspect with me and explain the alternatives including the potential cost impacts with the various options before proceeding. Mike dealt professionally with everything that needed to be addressed. He discussed the issues with me and listened to what I had to say without making any pre-judgments. Mike would summarize the issues well and keep to the facts even though the other party attempted to “rabbit trail” at every opportunity. My “after-divorce” problems continued for years as the other party would continually challenge the final order. Even in this, Mike dealt professionally and worked to keep my interests protected. Mike is a professional individual that is first looking for a mutual agreement in a divorce but when a mutual agreement is not obtainable, he worked aggressively for my interests.

I had an ugly divorce and (1) year after the judgment was final…it got worse. I selected Mike to replace my original attorney. What a great decision! Lindsey was the best thing to happen to me after my divorce. My ex had a large percentage of placement of our child and had been put in a position of power over me, making me feel like I had no option other than to barely see my son and pay an arm and a leg in child support.
After hiring Lindsey (and a lengthy legal battle against my ex) I am in a much better position. She helped me through filing motions, finding compromise, and even communicating with my ex. Don't let her age fool you, Laura knows her stuff. I had a difficult and very contentious case with my ex. My ex was attempting to restrict my visitation with my daughter. Laura was all over it, she completely destroyed my exes case and laid waste to her first lawyer pre-trail and her second lawyer during the trial. I went from possibly having my visitation restricted to gaining primary custody of my daughter after not seeing her for a year and a half.
I really can't say enough about Laura. My ex continues hiring new lawyer after new lawyer and Laura continues to send them packing!! I wouldn't dream of having anyone else in my corner. If you want someone that is going to fight tooth and nail for you and isn't going to BS you she's the one you need. If you choose anyone else and find yourself on the otherside of court against Laura...well good luck!

I interviewed a few attorneys before I came to Margaret. She was beyond professional when did not judge me in any way. I ONLY clicked on ONE lawyer, as time was of the essence when my spouse left me unexpectedly. Something I'd never drempt would happen! He'd cancelled any means he thought I'd have to stand up for my own rights. MARGARET BENDER and her very dedicated staff, DIANA and VANESSA, have all helped me survive down this very sad path we call Divorce! They allowed me to come in immediately. I initially got in contact with Taylor for a consultation through my friend who had worked with him for her divorce . He gave me all of the information I needed to self-file. My ex avoided service and filed his own divorce papers in CA where he lives. So it all became very complicated. I came back to Taylor and hired him to help me navigate through it all. He could not give me any advice on CA, but he was very skilled at helping me know what to do to ensure jurisdiction for the case would be here in OR. I had lived here for 2 years with my 10 year old son. Taylor was able to successfully get jurisdiction changed to OR. My ex challenged it in CA, but we prevailed. This was an incredibly stressful and emotional experience for me that went on for almost 2 years. I highly recommend Vincent DeLuca as a collaborative divorce attorney. I hired him back in 2010 for a collaborative divorce, and his involvement helped to make it a success. He was already skilled in that area of law, at that time, despite it being new to many people in NJ.
In a collaborative divorce both lawyers become part of the “team”, yet in private they still offer guidance to their clients (that is my take on the process). So I wanted a lawyer who was both a team player and a straight shooter. If I was asking for too much I wanted him to tell me, and if I was not holding a fair line I also wanted to know. Throughout the process he offered that kind of honest guidance to me, and he helped to keep our son’s needs front and center. He also has skills as a mediator, and it was apparent to me that he truly wanted what was best for our son.
Vince is also capable of being assertive and seeing through tactics and posturing. I certainly did not want a typical divorce battle, but I want to be clear that if I had one I also would trust that Vince could help to protect me from those pitfalls. In many ways I feel he offers a great blend of all of those skills and needs. He is caring, experienced, creative and tactful. And above all he earned my trust at a high level. I ended up contacting him three other times, and referring a handful of friends to him. Scott was my attorney for a divorce that got very messy. Among other things, my ex-wife attempted to relocate my daughter to another city, had me served with a frivolous restraining order, and tried to have our parenting consultant removed after our divorce.
Throughout all of this, Scott provided excellent representation and guidance. Early in the case, he laid out a roadmap for how I would be able to maintain involvement in my daughter’s life and protect her interests. He showed me how I would be at serious risk of losing parenting time with my daughter if I did not make the right choices. As the divorce progressed, things went as Scott predicted, and I now have a custody and parenting time arrangement that is great for both my daughter and me.
Scott was never rattled by anything he encountered with my case. He has deep knowledge of Minnesota family law, and he had a strategic approach to every situation we faced. He gave me wise advice and encouraged me to take the high road. He was highly professional and ethical, and he helped me minimize my legal costs. I can tell that he cares about helping his clients, not just getting the job done.
Another thing I appreciated was that Scott tries to avoid litigation whenever possible. He prefers to settle things through mediation or direction negotiation, and he avoids pointless conflict. However, when my ex-wife took aggressive actions against me, Scott gave strong responses and forced her to back down. I had a very difficult family law issue regarding my ex-spouse's ongoing parenting plan violations and documented parental alienation efforts on my daughter. I had spent years working w/ past attorneys and family therapists to help ameliorate some of the more destructive effects of my kids' mother's behavior. The clock was running out quickly for any type of legally enforceable remedies - family therapy or otherwise.
Scott promptly assessed my case via his legal assistant and decided that I had run out of legal remedies. I still needed more info so I scheduled a paid consultation. When we finally met, Scott immediately cut to the chase and in just a few minutes gave me a complete and definitive legal prognosis about winning any additional legal action or even getting my daughter into any type of reunification therapy. Zippo chance. I had previously spent thousands working w/ another attorney just trying to get this answered.
Scott correctly perceived that our family issues were far more than legal. He spent the remaining 45-50 minutes of our 1 hour consult giving me some of the best family therapy advice I ever had. He had seen a lot of parental alienation cases and understood the long-term affect on adolescents and parents. He was empathetic. He understood the big picture. I would go so far as to say that single session was transformative. I so wish I had found him at the beginning of my divorce. With Scott, I knew I would have definitely gotten what I paid for.
For all who read this, please be aware that for many going through a divorce, you get one chance to do it right. After that, you can nibble at the edges w/ some modifications but if you don't have a competent attorney fighting for you from the start, you could get utterly steamrollered. I spent more on legal fees trying to enforce a court order drawn up by my original "econo-lawyer" then I did for the original divorce.
Scott knew what I needed and not only did he not try to sell me more futile legal services, he even waived the consult fee. His generosity of time, counsel and spirit made him stand out head and shoulders w/ any other family attorney I worked with over the past 7 years.
