We were looking for a lawyer that specialized in working with LGBTQ clients and learned about Ms. Thomas on the National Center for Transgender Equality website. Ms. Thomas was the only attorney listed in Upstate NY that specialized in representing clients with the legal process for name and gender change. We were fortunate that Ms. Thomas was in the Capital District. She was prompt with email and phone correspondence and the judge received the paperwork and signed the documents quickly. This was our first time hiring a lawyer, so we had lots of questions, all of which Michelle was very patient and kind enough to address each and every one. Michelle and her team helped us through a very emotional and challenging eviction case (we as the landlords), and at each step we felt heard and well-guided. We eventually won the case, and we realize there is no way we could have done it without Michelle’s help. I was in need of a litigation attorney after receiving a complaint filed by a former employer. I was extremely concerned about the situation due to the truth being distorted in a way that could have caused serious legal repercussions. Ms Aulivola was referred to me by a coworker and after speaking to her the first time she stood out from the other lawyers I had spoken to. I don't have the words to accurately describe my feelings about Harrison Law Offices. From the moment that I first reached out to them, I knew that I was in great hands. The office was always professional, responsive, and courteous.
When I initially called to ask a couple of legal questions, I had no idea that my questions would turn into a case but when it did, I didn't hesitate to reach out to Jim, who advised and guided me through the entire process. I recall a few of the words that he told me that day. "I'm on the team," he said.
Funny to say that throughout a six month ordeal, we only ever met face to face once because of the pandemic. I'm sure their normally challenging job was even more so because of the difficulties associated with the lockdowns and Covid-19 gathering rules. Every challenge was met and I am so pleased to report a positive result. I have no doubt that this would not have been possible without the efforts of Jim and his team and will be forever grateful.
Jim demonstrated an in-depth knowledge of the law surrounding my case from day one and, where the legal precedent was lacking (as it was in my particular situation), he had the ability and knowhow to do the research to find applicable case law in other states and apply it to my situation. It was this effort, in my opinion, that led directly to a win for my side in defense of a post-employment restrictive covenant case against me.
I could not recommend them more strongly and I don't offer that type of praise often. I would not hesitate to hire Jim again and would call him for just about any legal question that I can imagine.

Attorney Jim Harrison showed his intelligence, his commitment to helping us, and his understanding of the issues from day one, and I was also impressed with the his grasp of the practical implications of the situation and the limits on what was feasible. I felt as though he really listened when I spoke, and he seemed to know just the right questions to ask in order to get to the bottom of things. I had a multi-disciplinary legal matter last year. Although the allegations were without merit I was afraid of the potential consequences for myself and my family. I have read all the other reviews and I wish I could give 10 stars. I was with a larger law firm after a very difficult time in my life, and it was all about the money and the fact that they couldn’t make enough so they couldn’t take my case. It was like that saying when God closes a door somewhere he opens a window. It was then I found this incredible law firm and my attorney was Tiffanie Benfer. She walked me through everything. She called me. It was incredibly shocking because attorneys don’t call people. They have other people call you. The whole we will have our people call your people. I could ask a question in an email or text on the weekend and get a call back ON THE WEEKEND! Tiffanie was with her family but took the time to answer my question because I was concerned and scared. She would actually apologize if it took her a few days because she had been in court or have her staff call me to say she’s in court and then she would call me that night after a long day my Attorney would call me on her family time. She didn’t push me to accept settlements or decisions she knew were wrong just to get my case over with. The staff was incredible. It’s like dealing with people who really care about you.. Thank you.

You messed up but relief is nearby. You want an expert who will also listen to you, explain the situation and your options and put you in the best situation for a positive outcome. Martin is your guy. After you hire him when you are going through waves of freaking out you can come to Avvo and re-read the 100+ positive comments (I've read them all for comfort 8 times by now) and know you've done all you can to help your situation.
I put myself in a tough situation. I went out for a few drinks, nothing egregious but when I was leaving a parking lot I goosed it around a corner and squeeled my tires. I was pulled over and declined to talk the the officers about where I was that evening or participate in any sobriety tests. The prosecutors for DUI trials in Lake county are farmed out to a private firm and the state's firm sent their #1 top guy. Martin got us a Not Guilty on DUI and Reckless driving, and a modest fine and court supervision for squealing tires. Martin went head-to-head with the state's top dui prosecutor and left him noticeably pissed while we walked out with a huge W.
You'll be comforted by his understanding of Lake county courts and procedures. He will listen to you. We worked together to craft a defense and no point anything that I thought important was left unconsidered.
Even though my case hit a complication and dragged on a bit his flat rate fees were clear fair. Quite honestly they were about 75% of what I expected and was willing to pay for a proven winner.
He's super busy but will always make time for you. Most importantly, he's a genuinely good guy.
There's a reason for Martin's top rating. Do yourself a favor and pick the best. Get the free consult and make your own choice. It's hard to put a price in peace of mind. If you've read this, you've been informed. Unless you have another proven rockstar at your disposal to consider I strongly advise you to go with Martin.

A couple of years ago, I found myself in a difficult employment-related situation, and needed legal advice. Knowing how important it was to have someone very competent, responsive, and personable, I started doing my homework. I researched the Internet, called and talked with tens of law firms and attorneys, read hundreds of reviews, and asked my network of friends and colleagues for referrals. At the end of this thorough search, I selected Mr. Robert L. Levi. During the approximately 18 months of collaboration that followed, I never regretted my choice.
In my opinion, Robert has the experience (over 30 years of work in the legal field), legal knowledge, and skills to help you with your case related to employment, labor relations, civil rights, or employee benefits. He also provides the personal attention to set your mind at ease and relieve (at the extent possible), the emotional, intellectual, and financial stress of legal work placed on your personal and professional life.
Deciding to sue someone is a scary thing. I've had 5 lawyers in my 10 year long family case. While Mr. Reiner is a criminal defense lawyer, he is a trial attorney first and foremost.
