Nikk is very knowledgeable and competent in employment law practice. In my particular case, not only did he take his time to understand my unique situation and need, his extensive knowledge and legal experience with uncompromising dedication to doing the most thorough work that was effective at outlining a good strategy and executing against it. I would highly recommend Nik’s services. I thank him humbly and gratefully and have already recommended him to others as someone who I consider an expert in his field and will continue to do so.

In my years of dealing with family members and lawyers, I have never met an attorney that has the compassion as well as knowledge to handle my family matters. His expertise, his professionalism and his genuine concern will carry him a long way. I highly recommend him for your legal matters. I would also like to give him credit for his willingness to refer you to someone else, if it is out of field of law. Thank you so much for representing my family member. God bless you always.

Austin truly cares about his clients and you are definitely not just another case when Austin is representing you. He always gets back to you to answer all questions either through email or a phone call or both when necessary. He makes sure to pay attention to details and he will see your case through from start to finish. Austin is truly one of the "good guys" a true modern day Perry Mason mold of a lawyer who will genuinely do his best to represent you and he will not just try to push you through the system like a lot of lawyers want to do these days. He has a five star rating with his communication skills and with his knowledge of Vermont laws. I never plan to ever be in trouble with the law again but if ever the need arises I will not hesitate to have Austin represent me once again.

I had 4 tickets from United States Federal Park Rangers. They were driving off designated roadway, possession of tobacco by a minor, fleeing to elude, and speeding 95 MPH in a 50 MPH speed zone. The park rangers didn’t arrest me that day, but when I had my day in court those officers wanted me jailed. Davis got the court to drop all charges except fleeing to elude and I walked away with a $1500.00 fine and nothing more. I would definitely recommend his services time and time again because you can’t beat a deal like that in my opinion.

I recommend anyone in the STATE OF HAWAII to seek legal expertise from this man. I can't thank god enough for allowing me to cross paths with him. I hired Don on nearly four occasions. EACH CASE, DONALD WON. Court is nerve wrecking and when you're involved with difficult parties; it can be intimidating. Every time I walked through family court or district court you can literally sense the respect a lot of high powered individuals have for this man. Donald takes the time to explain the process of court and paperwork. He is always on time, never late. IF HE IS; expect a phone call shortly reassuring you he'll be there. He's AMAZING. His staff is verrrrry friendly and approachable. If you want a lawyer who will respect your opinions and always have your best interest at heart. HIRE DON.

I've had my share of dealing with lawyers, but Rick Shea Law is on another level. As someone who appreciates straight talk and efficiency, I was beyond impressed. Rick's experience, especially with immigration law, made a huge difference. His firm handled my case with professionalism and care that was both reassuring and effective. What really sets them apart is how upfront they are with costs. They offered the most value and even provided flexible payment plans. If you're looking for someone who knows their stuff, gets results, and genuinely looks out for your best interest with transparency and affordability, Rick Shea Law is it. Five stars all the way.

W. Lynne Brown is a professional and competent lawyer. She is as good as it gets folks. Ms. Brown has been steadfast throughout my case in trying to obtain SSI for a disability that came as a result of the L4-L5 region of my back incurring disc and back degenerative issues. In short, I can no longer work a good deal of jobs, and as a result had to seek SSI. Ms. Brown; as well as her entire staff and immediate assistant, are as good of a group that you are going to come across. When your looking for a top notch lawyer and great support staff who will see your case through to the end, call W. Lynne Brown. More than likely, your going to obtain the results that you in need of.

Matthew Miller has assisted my family and me in litigation and business disputes in the past and has obtained excellent results. Although he is a trial attorney who works on larger cases, he took the time recently to help me with a "Red Light Camera Ticket." Matthew Miller is very professional as well as understanding. He felt that I had a decent case even though my research on the web turned up very grim statistics with regards to beating a Red Light Camera Ticket. He never made me feel like my case was lost. His engaging personality and encouraging words assured me I was in good hands. You know just by working with him that he knows precisely what he is doing. He'll help you get through your case and will fight with everything he has at his disposal to return the best results possible. Matthew's breadth of experience covers many topics within the law profession. He knows a lot of the court judges and attorneys at the court house, and knows how to strategically position your case in a way that will give you the best outcome. Hire Matthew Miller if you want someone who will fight for you as you'd expect to be represented. This will be money well spent.

I was new to trying to hire a personal injury attorney. I had a severe neck injury and need an attorney who would listen and take control of my case. I first had a meeting with one of those “As seen on TV” attorneys, who was very unprofessional and in my opinion just out for himself, and not my needs. When I first met with Mr. Allard-Reyes, it was a very positive experience and I felt that he and his firm would best represent me with my personal injury case. Throughout the entire case, Mr. Allard-Reyes kept me very informed of every step in the legal process. Mr. Allard-Reyes worked very closely with me in ensuring that he had all my medical records related to the case, which included imaging (MRI and X-Rays) from my health care provider. In addition, he had me keep daily notes throughout the process of how the injury accident impacted my daily life, before and after my surgery, and during my recovery and physical therapy. As we entered into the settlement phase of the lawsuit, Mr. Allard-Reyes asked me to write a victim impact statement on how the accident, my injuries, the surgery, recovery, and physical therapy impacted my life over a 13-month period, to which I was more than happy to provide him. In addition, my wife also wrote a statement as my caregiver and how the accident affected her and how she had to care for me, not only physically, but emotionally as well. Mr. Allard-Reyes sent those statements, all the medical records and imaging records to two separate insurance companies, and both companies settled very quickly in my favor. My overall experience with Mr. Allard-Reyes was very good and I felt that he was not only my attorney, but also a compassionate and caring professional who guided me through a very complicated and arduous legal process with great success. I highly recommend Mr. Allard-Reyes for any personal injury case.

He navigated through the settlement process with the utmost professionalism, showing great judgment and care for his clients' emotional and physical wellbeing. He sent me to an expert orthopedic doctor who properly accessed my injury, a critical step. He communicated with me effectively at every stage of the process. Most importantly, he understood me and my injuries and truly care and worked judiciously to get me the best settlement award. Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
