Richard Litman and his staff at Litman Law were amazing. I was referred by a long time friend/colleague who gave them a review that set the bar so high I thought to myself "There's no way they can meet my standards now". Now here I stand corrected. Not only did they're staff keep in close contact with me through the whole Patenting process, but also used there years of experience to help me avoid any snags or possible hang ups. At the end of the process I felt as if I knew every last one of them personally and I would like to take the time to thank them for there hard work and making me feel as if I was there only client.

Dan Rosenthal accepted a case for me against Aetna, my employers insurance provider, who refused to pay my sons medical bills even though I was paying premiums through my employer as part of my families coverage. My son had other insurance coverage through his father, but my insurance policy plainly stated that, because I was the custodial parent my insurance was first payer, which Aetna totally ignored and rejected his claims anyway. Well after 2 years of going back and forth with Aetna and $38,000.00 later in medical debt, I decided to hire Dan as my last result. Dan was wonderful, he stuck right by my side. He fought for me tooth and nail. He even was my mental counselor sometime when the pressure became too much to bare. Dan went beyond the call of duty and I thank him so, so much. We finally settled my case on July 29, 2016 and all of the medical expenses were finally paid by Aetna and a letter of apology was sent to me by my employer, explaining their regret for any of this ever happening. But I never could have done it without you Dan. You are the Attorney of the Year in my book!

I had a disorderly conduct charge a few years ago and Mr. Short took care of it. He used his superior people skills and talked things over with the arresting officer. After some general apologies on my part for the situation, the officer agreed to ask the judge for a dismissal upon six months of good behavior. Great guy, makes you feel like he will get everything taken care of.

Was invoilved in an accident where I was rear ended while stopped, which totaled my van. Since (thankfully) my medical bills were only around $9,000., I could not find an attorney willing to represent me- they only want the high dollar cases. I got referred to Dan Krisky by one such attorney, and he was happy to take my case and help me settle with the other drivers' insurance company. Hard to find good people like Dan who are really in it to help everyone, including "the little guy"- not just those with multi million dollar cases.

We contacted Moser Law in reference to our Estate Planning with many questions. Melissa met with us and informed us of our options, and guided us on the best path for our family situation. We felt confident in her services, and was very pleased with our Estate Planning that included absolutely everything. Her prices were the most reasonable among our searching. All documents were presented to us organized and in a binder notebook, all in one place to make it easy to access when needed. Very pleased!!!!

Wayne Haig and his staff are by far the best. I was never without an answer to a question. Always available: Wayne spent hours with me and Lindsey was the best. If you ever need an Attorney to represent you in a Workman's Comp Case you will do yourself a favor by getting in touch with Mr. Haig. To anyone really injured on the job You or a family member need to contact Mr. Haig immediately. (Don't wait) Mr. Haig fully explains the Law in terms You understand and is always available to answer questions. Do Not Think You Can Go Through a Workman's Comp Claim without a Superior Attorney. The System is complicated and works against the injured individual. I have known many Attorneys and even have them in my family. Wayne Haig is The Best.

I called for my consultation and everything seem to be ok. Because I was applying for disability they told if I couldn't do the steps to their office then he'd send me everything to sign and get the ball rolling. He kept in contact to let me know each step, and if I had any questions I could call his office and speak with the sweetheart of a secretary. My calls were always returned by Lawyer Hunter, and I was never made to feel my questions were unimportant. He'd always say, "No thats what I'm here for." I never stepped a foot in his office, and never met him face to face until the day of my hearing. Yes, I was rewarded my benefits. I'd refer him to anybody that wants an attorney that really goes to bat for them in a very professional way.

I hired Anne for my divorce. She helped me straighten out some basics after my ex claimed I abandoned him with a signed, notarized agreement in hand before I walked out. She made the divorce process as quick and painless as his foot dragging would allow and helped me solidify the modest concessions I asked for with ease. When it came to a nasty 4 year custody battle, I didn't think I could afford her and I worked with another attorney who made a complete mess of my case and lost some things I will never be able to reverse. After a significant loss, I decided I would do whatever it took and reached out to Anne again. She was amazing from our first conversation. She listened where the other attorney dismissed. She never blamed me or questioned my motives or actions with judgment, but from a genuine desire to understand so she could help the way I wanted and needed (within the confines of the law, obviously). She set realistic expectations without being a downer and she has always been easy to talk to when needed or quick to have someone on her team respond. She's an adept negotiator that never made me feel like I was giving miles for inches (like with the previous attorney). Anne doesn't victim blame or shame and never put herself on a pedestal where I thought she had no idea what I was thinking, feeling, or going through. She never ignored me before trials, always sitting with and talking with me beforehand. She helped me feel prepared and well equipped and didn't hesitate to highlight what I was already doing well while gently providing guidance where I needed to strengthen my case. She is thorough in her research, level headed in her approach, and adept at redirecting, particularly if you're up against someone who likes to fight with character assassination as opposed to merits of the case. Anne is amazing and I would highly recommend her, particularly for anyone with divorce and family issues. She really helped turn things back around after my previous attorney cost almost double and made a mess we will have to work long and hard to recover from. I felt like she was on my side without being blindly loyal to me so that she could remain objective AND supportive in a way that no previous attorney had. I really felt like I had a champion who wanted what I wanted just as badly as I wanted it!

Around 2020, I discovered that I had somehow been declared deceased. This was rather strange, because I certainly did not feel decreased. This had many negative consequences, particularly on my credit reports. I did research on the best way to deal with this and it was clear that I needed a lawyer. I contacted a couple who weren't responsive, then I was fortunate enough to have found Craig Marchiando of Consumer Litigation Associates. Craig is on the opposite side of the country from me, but everything was handled perfectly by phone and email, with help from his legal assistant, Sydnee Shirley and senior paralegal, Vicki Crissman. Craig did an excellent job of keeping my expectations realistic and keeping me updated when necessary, in what is a LONG process, by its very nature. I am limited in what I can say due to the terms of my non-disclosure agreement, but I will say that Craig went far beyond ANY realistic expectations in my particular case and I was DELIGHTED with the outcome.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
