Interestingly enough I met atty Daniel Grey on an off chance. He was at mediation that I was not a party to, and I was in the building for other reasons. As we crossed paths and began speaking he gave me his business card and said something to the effect of “you never know when you may need my services”. As I walked away I thought ‘how did he know’. Long story short within 6months I needed his services. That was about 13 years ago. He not only was a great attorney but he advocated for all sides which is not like many family law attorneys. He helped me see things from my child’s perspective and my spouse at the time. In doing so it made the divorcing with children much more smoother for all parties involved. Over the years I have referred over a dozen of friends & colleagues to him during their time of need and he has always shown great detail and concern to them in the same manner he showed to me. I am only writing this review now because I recently referred someone to him. Though he could not represent the guy due to the county he lived in he still took the time to call him after work hours and be a calming voice and help him him understand the process, ease his mind and refer him to two other lawyers that specialized in that county. I am blown away by this. No charge and he gained nothing other than respect and this review. So many other lawyers won’t even talk to paying clients during the day and a night call is not a thing. So for Daniel to do this was going beyond the pale. I am so thankful for our chance encounter all of those years ago and all the help he has provided to me and to all that have been referred. If you want a lawyer who shoots straight and treats each client even opposing counsel as family & friend to work on a fair settlement he is your guy. This is not about money for him, he truly cares. Let’s start with the short version:
•I was stopped by police in the early morning hours on a Saturday and arrested in Harris County for a first-offense DWI.
•I hired Mr. Ruiz on Wednesday morning ahead of a Friday court hearing.

I found myself in an unfortunate situation facing a felony and a misdemeanor charge both of which were my first criminal offenses. Initially I didn’t know where to turn; so I googled Criminal Attorney Houston, Texas. I called dozens of attorney’s on the list but none of them made me feel confident they could get both charges dismissed, additionally almost all wanted to charge me upwards of $25,000 or more for both cases.

I was referered to Ms.Rowland by a another attorney who felt that she was a better fit for my case. My case started out as a CPS case with a protection order later added. Ms.Rowland on our 1st court date won and my custody order remained unchanged. Then instead of having to attend court the next day over a protective order she was able to get that withdrew and held mediation instead which resulted only in minimal changes. Ms.Rowland was always very upfront with me and always gave me the choices of very best outcome or the worst outcome. She was always a phone call away no matter the day or time. As a mother also she would sit and let me cry and just listen she truly understands and is truly all in with her clients. Her fees are reasonable and she explains that fully in your consultation. This Has Been Long Over Due, I Hired This Attorney For 2 Felony Possession Of A Fire Arms And 2 Months Later Ended Up Hiring Him For 2 More Felony Possession Of A Firearm, 2 Months After That And Possession Of A Control Substance Over 200 Grams And Aggravated Assault With A Deadly Weapon, And Harassment All At The Same time. 7 Cases In Total I Was Being Charged With. It Didn’t Stop There, Went To SAFT And Left Because Of Personal Reasons Was Violated And Charged With Escape, Went Back In Front Of My Judge With This Same Lawyer And Got That Dismissed. If This Lawyer Ain’t The Goat Then Idk Who Is, If You Having Doubts On Wether Are Not To Hire Him Ask Yourself This Question, Do You Really Want Your Freedom? First let me say...do not go into a divorce without your own attorney!!! I almost waited too long to hire Dawn. While on the phone, she pulled the information on the courthouse records she told me to get in as soon as I could that afternoon. It wasn't what was stated in the paperwork it was the ambiguous terms that were used.
Dawn is direct, aggressive, very busy which sometimes makes her hard to reach and a darn good negotiator. She knows her stuff. Don't go see her if you want a shrink...go to her if you want to be well represented. Make sure your expectations are realistic and you will do well.
The "friendly" divorce paperwork was full of open ended statements that would have cost me more than my legally fair share. With that being said she warned me right from the beginning that we are now negotiating a business transaction not a friendly settlement. You can go back to friendly after the divorce is final.
You have to take care of your interests and Dawn will do that for you in legalese if you let her. Sometimes you wonder where she is going in her logic... but just sit back, watch and listen...she knows what she is doing. I think if I had been as aggressive as she suggested I may have done better...but I couldn't let go of the relationship. Remember if you are enlisting the help of an attorney (Dawn)...your relationship is over...so let her get down to business.
She is very good in mediation. She understands how to effectively work through the process. She should since she offers mediation services in her practice.
I think the most impressive thing and the sign of a well respected attorney is when we went to the courthouse (unfortunately we had to go), she was known by many of the court employees, officials and other attorneys that were waiting for their time slot.
If you are reading this I am sorry you are having to go through it...but I think Dawn is a good choice. By the way she was recommended to me by another satisfied client.

I was skeptical about being able to remove a Federal tax lien Voss filed on 6 different properties.
Rhett gathered all necessary documents, organization, tax returns, all federal filings, and proved it was filed erroneously on me.
He followed through with the IRS weekly. Once Rhett was able to reach a name in the IRS that dealt with this particular problem, he dug his heals in and was able to release lien from start to finish in less than 90 days.

Because of COVID, things moved slower than usual and I think the office could’ve done a better job of initially communicating that was the reason things were taking so long. Every part of dealing with Chris was a positive experience. She is has solid integrity, is a great lawyer and has a get it done attitude. She has a great attention to detail but is also very responsive. She looks at ways to speed up the process and reduce expenses, and I am sure she was conservative in the hours billed.
The other side's attorneys were not responsive and not organized. Chris made up for it, did way more than our share so we could get the divorce finalized by the end of the year. I am convinced that if I did not choose Chris that we would still be dealing with this divorce 5 months later.
Chris also has great communication skills. She was a leader in the collaborative meetings and a voice of calm, humor and reason (which I needed) in our many one on one chats.
I honestly can only think of positive experiences in regards to working with Chris. I am cheap, but I never felt bad when writing a check for the professional services I received.
I am sure no divorce is easy. A tough time for all involved. I luckily chose Chris as my attorney in a collaborative divorce and have never regretted the choice I made..

I assumed, wrongly, this proceeding would go rather smoothly as there were no children to contend with. My now ex wanted the 50% of the house and 50% of the IRA. I owned the house outright before the marriage, and one of the IRA's I earned prior to marriage so not community property. Chris provided the other attorney with case law, and figures from the house and IRA's to prove our point. There was still money to be distributed, but not to the extent the other party requested. Chris has done this before and knows how to put together spreadsheets to demonstrate her point of few. She is easy to talk to, accessible. The entire process works better if the client provides requested information on a timely basis. It keeps everything moving.

I hired Martin to settle a rather complicated divorce from my previous company. Like any divorce, there were issues that needed to be negotiated. Martin was on top of it all. He was super sharp and most importantly took the time to understand all the issues, the players and the priorities. He set the gameplan and executed it so well.
