We first met Bill in 1987 or 1988 when he and Erin and Barbara and I hosted two young Japanese women exchange students interested in polishing their English skills during a summer session. Over the years, we have been repeatedly impressed by Bill's integrity and knowledge, and when it became time, we asked him to be executor of our estate, will and trust. I had a very, very tricky Personal Injury ("slip and fall") case that my own attorney eventually rejected. It's got a lot of risk, it involves attorney-expense, time, etc. It's against a Major Bank who vigorously defends such claims, etc. For so many reasons it's WRONG for the top attorneys in this field.
Many or most who either hung-up on me or didn't call back, write back, acknowledge receipt of previous attorney's Demand Letter, etc. Even my own attorney was very lukewarm and unable to give this much time. I understood and understand it all. The fact that an attorney showed interest at all buoyed my surgery and necessary physical rehab, which took a good six months just to again walk. So either way I won, either way this turned out well because I'm walking again, in the gym, exercising, etc.
Attorney Katz was just awesome in that he spent some time on the phone (despite being busy and involved in at LEAST one other trial). Returned all calls. If he said and says he'll call he does and did. I was just amazed at the Class-Level given the fact this Slip-and-Fall case is not an attractive proposition. I knew when my first attorney said he's bailing that it was a one-shot thing, a Demand Letter then everyone go home. People have to make a living, pay the rent, it has to make sense for these top guys.
From what I understand, Attorney Katz is about as "Tops" as it gets. My first attorney was SURPRISED
to hear Attorney Katz expressed ANY interest. (thought maybe I misunderstood or had wax in my ears).
He said REALLY, Richard M. KATZ returned a call on this - wow - did Attorney Katz SEE the Demand Letter?! Which just shows how other attorneys in this field regard Attorney Katz - as the top of the top.
I'm writing this because I just got off the phone with Attorney Katz.
He AGAIN called back (each time I'm shocked), this is THIRD time even though he senses/knows there's nothing very strong - or unusual - or favorable about my position.
Which is okay, as written I recovered, I'm well, I'm exercising again - as written the THOUGHT there might be compensation for a difficult year BUOYED my rehab, at least gave me some hope.
So Attorney Katz, just wanted to come here, reflect on what a class guy you are - and how anyone needing a top Los Angeles-Pasadena-Glendale-based attorney should first consult you.
I'm really in awe in light of the response from the others - and my respect for you knows no bounds.

Dale Gronemeier is an excellent lawyer. From the first issue in my lawsuit to the last, he gave me good advice. He was great at "thinking ahead" and seeing potential problems that I did not see. It took us over 2 years to finally get to trial because of delays by the "other side" yet I was supported and kept informed throughout - Dale was always available to talk through issues. The trial lasted over 10 days and was a multilayered, difficult litigation. The "other side" had THREE lawyers in court every day but I still prevailed on the most important issues thanks to Dale's hard work.

When I first came to Alexis, I was heartbroken and discouraged by the way the LAUSD was treating our child. We had tried another attorney who had taken our money and not helped. I was a bit traumatized by the process when we found Alexis but - WOW, what a difference the right lawyer makes. It was such a relief to be able to trust that there was someone on our side that knew the system and would advocate for our son. Alexis has known everyone at each of our mediations and everyone has treated her with respect(believe it or not, this is not always the case). I contacted Mark Woodsmall around 12 years ago, when it was obvious that my son with autism as well as high cognitive abilities was having a hard time accessing his education, mostly due to atypical behaviors. After being ignored by the district, even when my son was lost in their care, I knew we needed help. Mark was the perfect fit for us. He was amazing to watch in IEP meetings, and I learned so much from him. He is calm, rational, and knows how to work with a team, which is what IEP meetings should be. I distinctly remember a meeting where Mark’s calm, rational thoughts helped the district to propose a solution to an issue. It was as if Mark had done a Jedi mind trick! They proposed exactly what we had entered the meeting knowing that we needed as an outcome for our son. Mark taught me patience. It takes time to get an IEP just right, but with Marks’s help, it will get there. After many evaluations, IEP meetings, multiple instances of filing for due process, and twice going to mediation, my son got everything he needed for him to access his education. He actually had FAPE. With Mark’s help, I learned how to navigate the system for my son. All along the way, multiple times in this process, I remember Mark asking if I felt if I could handle the meetings on my own now, without his direct help. I told him that he was in it for the long haul! However, what Mark does is amazing. Without even saying it, he tries to empower the parents to learn to advocate for themselves. He slowly starts to remove himself so that the parents can navigate the system on their own, empowered with the skills they need by watching and learning from him. Mark slowly faded out of our IEP meetings, and we as parents were able to continue getting everything our son needed, in a calm, professional, patient way, the Mark Woodsmall way. When we were just starting this process in kindergarten, I remember everyone I talked to about my son’s situation said that I had no chance of getting even a district provided, untrained, one-on-one aide for my son for key parts of his day. With Marks help, my son was able to have an ABA trained, one-on-one aide from an independent agency for his entire school day, from elementary school through middle school, at district expense, which was what he needed. The aide was only removed when my son no longer needed an aide. Had I just gone with the district’s offer, my son would have been placed in the SDC class in order to have the support of an aide to help with his behaviors, which would not have been appropriate for him. My son is where he is today due to the help of Mark Woodsmall and his team. I have referred many parents to Mark, and some have actually called and used him. I hope that this review can help other families who I don’t personally know. As a family friend and retired district administrator once told me (who was on the opposite side of the table from Mark on many instances), “Mark Woodsmall will get your son EVERYTHING that he needs.” This retired administrator was not from our district, and was happy for my son’s sake that I had found Mark. Deciding to let Mark help us was one of the best decisions I could have made in my life, for my son’s life.

I've heard really bad things about the ticket clinic. Although Jonathan never personally kept me informed, I did have someone from the ticket clinic Inform me every time that he appeared in court. At the end of the day, he ended up winning my case! Jonathan was assigned to my case, I suppose, by Ticket Clinic - his place of employment. I was issued a very real ticket for a very bogus charge which would have cost me in excess of $600 dollars and a bunch of lost time had I not made the choice to fight it with the help of Ticket Clinic. Jonathan fought and won my case at the Compton Courthouse, which is a place I would not like to go to on a good day. Two Compton cops issued me a ticket in San Pedro, of all places, and it was, at the time of the "incident", them against me. With Jonathan's help and only $200 out of pocket on my part, we beat the rap. A very good investment indeed. Thank you Jonathan, you have my eternal appreciation.

I hired Marilyn to work on a case involving my brother and can I just say WOW! She was very understanding of are situation as we did not have to money to pay her full hourly rate so she came up with a payment plan to help us. Marilyn worked hard to really help my brother and I get through the trial that we were facing (which was an uphill battle). She was the only lawyer to even hear us out and offer help. Mr. Kent Laszlo Kristof did an excellent job in handling a life insurance policy, which my late brother had left in charge to me and my other sibling. My late brother had a very clear explanation of what he wanted to have the funds used for, and someone very close to him, filed suit against us for the entire amount. We met with Mr. Kristof, and he provided several options on how to go about this situation, as he clearly explained the pros and cons of each approach. The clarity of each option helped us immensely, and we decided on that same day how we were going to handle this case.
