I strongly advise against hiring Emily Smoak as legal counsel. My experience was nothing short of a disaster. Throughout the case, Ms. Smoak relied on unfounded accusations rather than solid legal arguments, demonstrating a complete lack of preparation for the hearing.
During the proceedings, when the commissioner instructed her to draft the judgment on-site and obtain signatures before leaving the courthouse, she admitted that she didn’t have her laptop and requested to complete it later. The commissioner was visibly displeased but allowed it. A week later, when the order was finally drafted, it was riddled with errors. Despite multiple requests for updates and corrections, Ms. Smoak’s office failed to provide any response, and the incorrect order was ultimately filed.
After reading other reviews, it appears that this level of negligence is standard practice for this firm. If you are looking for an attorney who is prepared, responsive, and capable of handling your case properly, look elsewhere. Do not waste your time and money on representation that lacks both competence and accountability.

I started an account here to help with an incorrect account that was posted to my credit belonging to somebody else. It’s been 3 months working with Lexington with no results. The account was only removed because I called the original creditor myself and they couldn’t locate or verify the account. I spent over a month trying to cancel my account and was sent in circles. I asked for an itemized receipt of services performed for the month of January which they could not provide however they’re still charging me for an additional month. Not worth the money at all. So much easier for you to work with the creditors yourself.

I was a pedestrian in a hit-and-run accident. Although the driver was caught, Utah's no-fault law meant I had to cover all my medical bills. Hospitals will treat you, but they only bill your own medical insurance (if you have it) and won’t use the perpetrator’s insurance information, even if you obtain it later.
In my case, my bills exceeded $70,000, but the driver’s insurance only covered $50,000. Without legal representation, you’re responsible for any medical costs that surpass your own coverage and the perpetrator's insurance limits. This is why having an attorney is crucial. Will Andrews was key in negotiating my bills, reducing the excess I owed, and ensuring I received some compensation. It’s a challenging process, especially when the perpetrator has limited coverage, but Will did a fantastic job. He also took the time to clearly explain everything from the start, which I greatly appreciated.
If you find yourself in a similar situation, here’s my advice:
--Log into your patient portal as soon as possible, retrieve all billing and medical records, and send them to Will right away.
--It can take 1-2 months for all bills to appear, so keep checking and provide updates. Always send documents in PDF format and keep copies for your records.
The process is slow—it took over a year for my case to resolve—not because of Will but due to delays from insurance companies and their frequent staff turnover. Will, however, was consistently attentive, asking how I and my family were doing before providing updates.
For example, the Attorney General requested my medical records for the criminal case against the perpetrator. Despite my requesting them promptly, it took nine months for the hospital to send the records in a sealed envelope. By then, Will had already negotiated a settlement with my medical insurance using the information I’d sent him from my patient portal.
Thanks to Will’s diligence and expertise, I received more than I expected. I highly recommend him for his experience, professionalism, and genuine care for his clients.

I stumbled across Victoria after having terrible experiences with two different attorneys in the past. I’m so happy I found her. She got to work immediately on my custody and child support case. She remained in constant contact with me regarding what was going on and what she was doing. I never waited more than half a day to hear back from her if I emailed with a question. Jason and his Team helped us with an unfortunate DUI and Open Container violation. I know, stupid Human, While mistakes were made and lessons were learned it was possible this was going to be a career ender for me. Jason helped us navigate the courts and complexities that come with these chargein an extremely professional manner. He and his Team were available to answer my many question's going above and beyond in my opinion. He returned a call one time when I left a message while he was out of country. 1) Don't have a beer while driving a side by side.

I was arrested, walking back to my truck in a parking lot while driving through Utah. I spent three nights in jail, had to pay to get my truck back, and was charged with a DUI. I must have called 20 lawyers but I could tell out of the gate that Mr. Schatz knew the law and was not just trying to make me feel better. Utah/Iron County did not want to give up but thankfully Mr Schatz did not either and won my case (Totally Dismissed)
I had to wear an ankle bracelet for a month and he got that taken off for a portable breathalyzer which I was on for two months then Mr. Schatz got that taken away. In all I had to appear in court via zoom around six times but never had to say a word. Everytime I heard Mr Schatz argue in court it was like I was watching a movie (he was that good and prepared) . I had asked Mr. Schatz a couple of times why don’t you tell them That I am a teacher, A father, 51 years old and I’ve never been in trouble in my life And Mr. Schatz would say every time you Utah does not care and he was right. Thankfully, Mr. Schatz cared and knows the law inside and out, Process process and procedure I thought the prosecutors had a slam dunk case against me Upon examining the videos and knowing the law like he does, Mr. Schatz was able to find enough holes to wear by the last day in court the judge described the case against me as”embarrassing”. In all, it took 12 months, but thankfully, Mr. Schatz never gave up, Never asked for more money for all the work he was doing, And in the end, the case was dismissed and is now going to be expunged. I never lost my license and never lost my job .
I can’t recommend Mr. Schatz enough .

Kayla is competent, kind and honest. What else could you ask for in a lawyer. If you read through her reviews they are almost all five stars for a reason. When I first saw all the five star reviews I thought they might be fake, but after working with Kayla I can tell you they are not. Kayla works incredibly hard and like many other people have mentioned she makes herself available. On average I probably only had to wait 2 to 3 days for a response. If it ever took longer it was because she was either in mediation or trial. Kayla even made time to talk to me over the phone when realistically we could have completed what we needed over email. If I remember correctly, 95% of Kayla's clients settle in mediation and my case settled in one mediation session. Had I hired any other lawyer I doubt that settling in one mediation session would have been possible. Working with Kayla was a very positive experience for me. Not only is she very easy to work with but she also is a very kind and carrying person. Divorce is such a stressful time and Kayla is very sensitive to your needs. She took the time to help comfort me and help me feel good about the decisions I was making. She is so competent that this comes easily and naturally for her. I honestly couldn't have asked for a better lawyer!

I just went through one of the worst 3 year divorce processess you could imagine. David was my second attorney that I hired about a year ago and I would give anything to make him my first attorney for the following reasons.
#1. I got more accomplished with him in the second half of my divorce by a huge margin than I did with my first attorney.
#2. He did it all for less than 20% of what I had paid my other attorney because he WILL NOT nickel and dime you in anyway shape and form. Do not be fooled by other attorney's who may charge a smaller retainer because that means nothing when they are calling you every week asking to refill the retainer because they have exchausted it over useless crap. David doesn't do that. He will tell you (at least a ballpark) of what its gonna cost and he will stick to it regardless of what happens.
#3 If you are shopping for a divorce lawyer you are about to enter a purgatory you cannot imagine. As far as divorce attorney's go (and I went through one horrible one and shopped around for 4 months to find the right one for my second) he is the closest thing you will find to a rope to get you out of hell. Especially if you are a loving father fighting for your rights, and get custody of your child(ren) from a snake of an ex-wife who wants nothing more than to destroy you.
#4. My divorce lasted 28 months. I hired David 20 months into the process and he got more accomplished in the last 8 months than the previous months combined. (and for far less money)
#5. Probably the most important part of all of this is that David is a pitbull to fight for your rights. (and be advised that his argumentative and abrasive nature might actually get you in a heated discussion or two between the two of you...but I promise you that is exactly what you want in a divorce attorney. David is that way all the time and he WILL use that same ferocity against opposing council and the judge). Do not be turned off by his bluntness, and realism. It is exactly what you are looking for to get you fair justice in a divorce case. Even on the parts of your case you don't end up winning (because you can't control what a judge will do) he will make the best possible arguments to fight for you and what is yours(and he's so good he WILL get most of it), and he will do it with full knowledge of the law and absolute resolve to get everything he can for you.
#6 He is FULLY COMPETENT at everything in divorce law and proceedure and all of that. He has been in practice for years, and knows the system, the rules, the players (other attorneys and the judges) and exactly the right and aggressive way to get it done.
If you are a father like me fighting for your rights to get custody of your child, and not have to pay your x-wife every dime you've ever had to get it....STOP SHOPPING FOR ATTORNEYS and hire David. I will say it again...I wish to God I had found him from the beginning.
If I could give 10 stars I would.
He's very very very good, and he knows exactly what he is doing!!!!

David Pedrazas represented my boyfriend in a Divorce/Custody. He's now ex wife had taken his 4 children across country and prohibited the kids to have any relationship with my boyfriend for almost 2 years, we had to hire a Private investigator and had no luck until his oldest contacted him behind the mothers back. The ex wife justified her actions in court by making allegations of domestic abuse. It was a difficult case but David was so knowledgeable, honest and he fought for my boyfriend's truth. At the end the judge granted relocation of the kids and now my boyfriend has sole physical custody of his kids. I can't express enough how much he helped our family and how grateful we are for him. I really believe without him we wouldn't have won this case, he basically got everything my boyfriend wanted. David really cares about his clients and he's joy at the end of court demonstrated his commitment to bringing the children home. Faced with the scariest experience of my life. My family and I found the right lawyer after 4-5 consultations. Clayton Simms was that lawyer and we got the best possible outcome from a devastating situation. I did not feel rushed. Clayton took the time to answer our questions honestly and clearly no smoke screen.

My husband and I were introduced to Ryan through a class we were taking. It was obvious he knew what he was talking about when it came to estate planning. We liked that he had focused his carrier on estate planning and was an expert in this field. He shared his book with us before even hiring him. This contained a lot of good information that was easily understood.
What I enjoy most about working with Ryan is his personable attention. Every call or e-mail was responded to immediately. Even when I did not intend for him to respond until business days and hours, I was pleasantly surprised to hear from him. With every question I had, and I had many, he put on his teacher hat and was happy to take the time to explain and teach me until I understood so I could make an educated, informed decision.
We do not have a large estate, but what we do have we want protected and cared for. Ryan made us feel like we were as important as a client with a much larger estate. He was caring and understanding, treating us with respect and guiding us to make sure our small estate will be well taken care of.
Ryan did the footwork. He contacted the other professionals we use to make sure everything was in order. When there was an inconsistency or problem, he took care of it personally.

The Law Firm of Blair T. Jones is a true blessing. As the defendant, my process was made very simple and I was constantly at ease. Most lawyers are known to be unreachable, but Blair is always available to you with no extra charge. He’s more than willing to answer any questions you may come up with during this process. I was referred to Blair by a good friend. He talked to me about my case at 9:30 on a Sunday night!! When I met him he was extremely nice and made me feel completely comfortable and I had no problem telling him everything. I was fortunate enough to work with Melissa several years ago for a DUI that came during an extremely difficult time in my life. There didn't seem to be much hope initially, but I became more optimistic when we won the hearing for my driver's license. Next up was the suppression hearing in front of a judge that is apparently notoriously tough. We were the last case to be heard that day, and after sitting for several hours and witnessing every singe case before mine have their motion to suppress be denied I wasn't feeling particularly encouraged. What I witnessed over the next 40 minutes was truly masterful. Melissa's experience and training allowed her to pull on the thread that was the state's case, and when it was over there was nothing left of it--case dismissed! Best day of my life, and one that I have never taken for granted. It was clear from the first court appearance that Melissa has the respect of her colleagues, both defense attorneys and prosecutors alike. She's not only very knowledgable but has a presence in the courtroom that is evident to all. I never felt like it was just another day at the office for Melissa, she doesn't lose sight of the gravity of her clients' circumstances. I used Scott for the divorce. He explained a lot of extra things I didn't know was involved. He is honest not overly expensive like a lot of other companies are. I learned some of the laws involved with getting divorced. Utah is extremely different than Texas. If you're looking for a good divorce lawyer, I definitely recommend Scott.
