Repeatedly denied an appointment in 3 years only met with me 2 intake and when my lawyer got involved. Child reported assault to the school and parent was federal convicted and Diane still said child should go with that parent, she was catch name calling me in text message we showed the judge and she said the text messages were fake and tried getting the other person to lie for her and they didn’t show up to testify for her. The child has even said she is ‘cringy’ and doesn’t like her. Diane try to make it sound like they are buddies and she know the child better than her parents. She is great at extorting clients for money and horrible at her job, and is extremely two faced. It’s on record in the court’s transcripts you can check my review creditable and know it’s not exaggerated or slander. This type of behavior needs to be known.

Diane told the judge that she talked to my children multiple times while they were with me, before and after covid. That is a lie. She told the judge that my children did not want to talk to her. That is also a lie. I only gave one star because I had to in order to post. If it allowed to post with zero stars, I would have.

Steven Redgate and his "team" are a joke. I hired him about 5 years ago to obtain my permanet residence and it was a disater at the end. When I first met with Mr. Redgate he promised me that would go to all hearings and when it came down to going he didn't know There was one scheduled and on top of that he wanted to charge me extra for going. He stated in the beginning that my fee would cover all that but it didn't. I ended up going to the meeting by myself but luckly for me I becaom a permanet resident. Thanks for nothing Mr. Redgate.

I have seen the other reviews and I do not understand how people would say those things. Mr. Redgate handled my immigration case and told me that it would be difficult from the very beginning. He told me my options and explained everything that he could do. He also told me to talk to other lawyers so that I would be sure that I was comfortable dealing with whoever took my case. I took his advice and did speak to other lawyers but after listening to them decided to go with Mr. Redgate. The case took a long time to complete and we had to go to several hearings, but we were successful!

I HAVE HAD OCCASION OVER THE PAST TEN YEARS TO SEEK AND RECEIVE ASSISTANCE FROM JAMES HUNT CONCERNING HIS REPRESENTATION OF MY SON AND MY SELF IN CONJUNCTION WITH VIOLATION TO SEVERAL CRIMINAL ORDINANCES. ALTHOUGH THE REASON FOR THE CRIMES WAS SIMPLE. TEXAS LAWS ARE VERY FEW AND VAGUE REGARDING MENTAL ILLNESS DISABILITY AND THE DISPOSITION OF SUCH THINGS. AT THE TIME AND STILL TODAY WHILE THERE IS MUCH TALK OF SEPARATING THE CRIMINAL FROM THE MENTALLY DISABLED. THE LEGISLATORS WHO CAN CHANGE THINGS ARE NOT DOING SO. IN ORDER TO FIND HELP FOR OUR SITUATION WE WERE INDIRECTLY COERCED TO BREAK CERTAIN LAWS. THE ONGOING PRACTICE WE EXPERIENCED WAS: 1, CALL THE POLICE. 2. THE POLICE DETAINED THOSE CONCERNED AND TOOK THEM BEFOR THE MAGISTRATE FOR ASSIGNATION. 3. JAMES WAS CONTACTED AND THRU MANY MONTHS OF COMPASSIONATE EFFORT HELPED RRSOLVE OUR ISSUES WITH THE LAW AND DIRECTED US TO THE PROPER AGENCIES TO GUIDE US IN THE DIRECTION NEEDED. THE POINT IS IN THE PAST AND STILL TODAY FOR MANY OF US THE ONLY WAY TO SECURE HELP IS TO BREAK THE LAW . GET INTO "THE SYSTEM" GET A POLICE RECORD FOR THE VIOLATIONS AND AN ATTORNEY TO STEER YOU TO THE PROPER PEOPLE TO RECEIVE ASSISTANCE. TO DATE WE ARE 2 FREE PEOPLE WITH POLICE RECORDS FOR NOT BEING ABLE TO KNOW WHAT TO DO. IT IS NICE TO SEE THE CHIEF OF POLICE AND THE COUNTY SHERIFF TELL THE CITZENRY ON TV THAT THEY HAVE ESTABLISHED "MENTAL HEALTH UNITS" BUT WHEN WE REQUESTED THEIR AID AND RESPONSE WE WERE TOLD "CALL THIS NUMBER BETWEEN 9 TO 5." SADLY MANY OF THESE CASES OCCUR BETWEEN 5PM AND 9AM. SO IT IS OFF TO JAIL. THAT IS WHAT WE HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH. OUR ONLY REST AND PEACE OF MIND CAME THRU JAMES WHO WORKED TIRELESSLY TO DIFUSE THE PROBLEMS. ADMITELY WE DID VIOLATE THE ORDINANCES BUT ONLY TO GET SOMONES ATTENTION FOR HELP. OUR NEXT GOAL IS TO GET THE POLICE RECORD EXPUNGED DUE TO EXTENUATING ISSUES. I PERSONALLY WAS CHARGED WITH DISCHARGING A FIREARM WITHIN A COMMUNITY OF GREATER THAN 500,000. REALITY: I FIRED MY GUN AT THE CEILING IN MY HOUSE FOR THE NOISE. TO GET EVERYBODYS ATTENTION. WELL THAT WORKED SOME. I JUST WANTED TO SAY THAT WE HAVE KNOW AND UTILIZED JAMES' TALENTS AND EDUCATION FOR OVER 10 YRS. AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO. I WOULD GIVE HIM AN AVVO RATING OF 9. I.LL SAVE THE 10 FOR WHEN THE LAWS ARE CHANGED. HARVEY W. ZOMBRO JR.

I met this attorney and what she told me was that she does not take a case that she cannot win. The beginning was fine, there was active communication, then radio silence. I sent numerous emails and made several phone calls. The administrative assistant said she couldn't track her down, was unavailable, was out of the office etc (that's how many times I'd called). I asked to speak with another member of the team, and did not receive a phone call or e-mail back from them either. She even set up appointments that she missed. I have paid this attorney a few thousand dollars and NOTHING! If you would like an attorney that will call you back, please do not have her represent you. I definitely suggest do your research before hiring any attorney. Especially this one!

No agreement arrived. There were several more phone calls, several more promises of a forthcoming representation agreement. Meanwhile, other persons, who required the name of the person who was representing me, were becoming frantic. After about 2 months, when no agreement arrived, I gave up - and found another attorney. Marlon took on a case for our family even though he was very busy, and it was not going to be one of his most profitable cases. However, his professionalism and diligence was undiminished. He handled it correctly, beginning to end, was timely in his communication and with us. Although he appears young, his level of knowledge on not only immigration law but also local courtroom proceedings was equivalent to a much more weathered attorney. Marlon is an attorney we believe can be trusted and we will tell all of our friends how grateful we are for his service. Immigration can seem intimidating, especially for non-English speakers, Marlon is definitely capable and well respected as an attorney.

My husband and I used San Miguel and Mackell Associates and it was the biggest rip off ever!!! First they required us to put a $5500 retainer down. My husband and I were dealing with a psychotic ex-wife so we did everything we could to get the retainer. The first court appearance Ron Mackell arrived looking as if he had slept in his vehicle. San Miguel was with him and she agreed with things we were saying but did nothing to push them forward against Mackell. It was the biggest and most costliest thing my husband and I ever went through. We actually lost more rights and money due to Mackell's lack of effort and knowledge. I wish there was a way clients who have been ripped off by these two could file a class action suit. We had to end up requesting them off of our case and lost $5500. DO NOT USE THIS LAW FIRM!

Lack of communication, professionalism and basic courtesy. Secretary doesn’t have a clue when he is in/out. Asked to call back and he wasn’t there, asked to call back on Saturday. Emailed to confirm he was there on Saturday and secretary failed to respond. Mr Bryant left a vm that he would send email to address contract issues. No response to emails, voicemail or text messages. Phone appointment set up and no call. No communication to address. Finally received text from Mr Bryant stating that he would send email addressing contract. He was busy dealing with family and kids. Since that text, no communication whatsoever from secretary or Mr Bryant. Left voicemails, many emails and text messages, no response. Wants a high dollar for subpar nonexistent services. If he didn’t want to handle case, simple communication would suffice instead of wasting my time and aggravation.

I contacted Mr. Placier to help with an immigration problem. I'm a naturalized citizen, and had my wallet stolen with my driver's license and SS card. Instead of telling me he was not qualified, he bragged about "knowing" people in our community to expedite the process. Mr. Placier deceived me for four years, giving me excuse after excuse why it was taking so long to get copies made. Mind you, I could not travel or find legitimate work due to having no ID or proof of citizenship. In 2014, I was diagnosed with an abscess on my spine which cause me to be a quadriplegic. I had to investigate to find my adopted family, who I had been estranged for over 20 years, to get copies of my documentation. After that, I found a website that found my documentation and sent me copies by mail. The process took me two weeks and only $25! He had lied and told me it would cost me $300/per document and take upwards of a year to get copies made. He had me hanging for four years telling me there were difficulties in my particular case! DO NOT use this man! He's a criminal attorney, he should have turned me away and saved me the turmoil! Now, because I couldn't work (legitimately) in those four years, I was denied disability! He should be disbarred!! IMO

...unless you want to spend thousands of dollars to NOT have your calls returned, texts replied or emails answered. Or if you wish to have your court dates reset numerous times or missed altogether then she is the lawyer for you. Most of the time I was advised of a court date through the opposing party via a text stating "see you in court (insert day/time)" after a bickering long text. OBVIOUSLY, the opposing party was well informed by their attorney. Valerie Alonzo will only reply or go above and beyond when it comes to asking for more money. Once that money is paid, you will not hear from her for weeks. When she finally gets in touch with you, she will justify her neglect with one personal reason or another. Why did I not fire her? I tried. But kept her out of ignorance. I assumed attorneys were hesitant to take a case that had already been started. My ignorance cost me a lot of money for an attorney that paid little attention to my questions, comments or concerns. Do not make the same MISTAKE. Find yourself another attorney. She is not someone trustworthy. She charges you after "final fees", she makes false claims of costs and motions and then tries to drags on your case for more money. Going through any type of legal case is not an easy thing and I am trying to save you from making the same mistake I did. It is not fair to entrust someone during such a difficult time just to have your money taken and your comments, questions or concerns ignored. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

In the courtroom, she really took charge against then State Rep., Joaquin Castro. She painted a very elaborate picture to supprt the person that I am, which in the end, helped me (a father) be awarded primary conservatorship of my son. Thinking back on it all after 3 years, I could not be more happy with the outcome of Valerie's support! I feel extremely fortunate to have selected Valerie to represent me!

This "Law Firm" is a joke. I paid over $2500 for what essentially amounted to one in office visit with CPS. We were quoted $2000 to handle a BOGUS CPS case. Paid in FULL and Mr Garza (Andrew) calls and tells us Mr Garza is with drawing from our case. We still have CPS in our lives (now more than ever because we do not have the protection of a attorney. They have threatened to take my daughter away and caused all kinds of stress in my life. We met with Mr Garza only one time. His paralegal Andrew did all the "work" on the case and billed us $100 a hour. Mr Garza never had me or my family in mind. All they were concerned with is how much money they could squeeze out of you. Called literally every day demanding more money. They missed filings on Court Proceedings that would have got CPS shut down, had numerous typos on signed Affidavits, didn't know who needed to sign the affidavits, didn't put in any evidence from our side, asked us to provide things for him and our evidence and then never used them. I could go on and on. I have worked in the legal field for a very long time and I have NEVER seen unprofessional, incompetent people in my life. Andrew is literally one of the most incompetent man I have ever met. All he would do is upset my wife and tell her how we should be prepared to lose. It was a BS slam door case. When I told him I wanted him to go in there and SHUT THIS DOWN ONCE AND FOR ALL, Andrew told me i would have to pay around $6,000 for Mr Garza to "take the gloves off" Like.... what?? This law firm engaged in fraud, and deceitful practices in my personal injury case. They are also dishonest, and deceptive in their practices. I just filed grievances against Tom Crosley, Steven Nunez, and Brennan Jenkins. I also had to report them to the authorities for stealing & misappropriating funds from a settlement. Lastly, this firm can't be trusted. They withdrew from my case one month before trial because the lawyer wanted to go to Japan for personal reasons. The most dishonorable group of attorneys that I've ever met hands down. The case has now been settled, & get this, Tom Crosley is trying to bill me for expert witnesses even though he never Nunez did any depositions, & I'm not going to trial. This attorney violated my constitutional rights by bullying or coercing me into accepting a low settlement or withdrawing. This guy, Crosley, & Nunez are total scammers. I will be uploading documents for proof very soon. Find a law firm that posts reviews from actual clients, not former employees like this scammer, Crooked Crosley. This law firm stole $37K from my family. Crosley also scammed me out of an additional $10K by sending a doctor to my home for 15 minutes. Dr. Brandon Goff was also part of this scam, he was supposed to write me a life plan that I never received, & was never able to use because the lawyer Crosley was in on the scam & withdrew. They never planned on taking my case to trial. It was a total waste of time dealing with this law firm.

Susan ann edwards was court appointed attorne back in 2010 after being releases from a 2 yr sentence I violated parole and was facing 12 yrs..I was actually very pleased with her..I got a 3 yr sentence due to her defense and feel that she actually did her job and fought for me.I would recommend her. Everyone is entitled to there opinion and may think other wise of Mrs edwards but I dealt with her first hand and if I ever decided to break the law again I will more likely call Mrs edwards..

susan edwards was a great lawyer, so i thought. she was attentive, and she seemed to follow through with her word. i thought i had got so lucky seeing how she and i came to cross paths..... she was my court appointed attorney. all i knew of "court appointed" attorneys was what i saw in movies and had "heard" from a few girls i met years before, needless to say, it was not encouraging. susan edwards is a lawyer of the worst kind, she led me on to believe i was in good hands, then dumped me off to a stranger for personal gain........i also thought she was "helping" me out with a personal issue, and with that one she just disappeared. and one of my cases ended very badly, and the other is still floating around while i continue to get screwed. do not trust susan edwards

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
