I had worked with Dan about a year to win the noise complain/ nuisance of my neighbor who lives next to my house. I consulted with Dan about a contract issue. He was very professional, helpful and offered me a free consultation. His recommendation was that my best option is NOT necessarily to hire him but gave me a couple of options that didn't involve hiring an attorney. In the end, I followed his advice and ended up with a settlement that I was pleased with.

In early 2014, I retained Monique Alonso regarding a Trust matter. I needed to obtain earlier versions of testamentary documents in order to make an informed decision about pursuing a Trust contest. Monique and her entire team were phenomenal. We were involved in a very complex international business. Things did not go the way we had hoped and everyone came out of the woodwork trying to get a piece of us. Monique and her firm were truly expert in boiling the multiple cases down to several key issues, consolidating some of the cases and then vigorously built a solid fact based defense. They worked tirelessly for 4 years until the case finally came to trial and then performed brilliantly during trial. Their knowledge of the facts was so deep that they were able to not only dissect the oppositions positions, but get their witnesses to change their positions on the stand because of the overwhelming evidence they were able to refer to at a moments notice. We won at trial overwhelmingly., so much so that we were subsequently awarded both expenses and virtually all of our attorney's fees (like seven figures worth of attorney's fees). Huge win! Divorce is a very personal matter and I had very little knowledge about the legal process. I needed an attorney who understands what I wanted and be able to deliver. I wanted to keep my share of the assets. I wanted to have sole custody of my child. I wanted the divorce process to settle as quickly as possible. I was going through an 'amicable' divorce with my husband and we agreed on how to split our assets. Being a paralegal, I was able to complete and file most of my own paperwork with the court. However, I needed the assistance of an attorney to draft a marital settlement agreement that would be acceptable to the courts and be in accordance with the law. I was referred to Nate by an attorney friend of mine. Nate and I met and I laid out the facts of my agreement with my husband. Nate accepted to work with me on the settlement agreement aspect of my divorce without asking to take over my entire divorce matter. Nate quickly grasped the issues at hand, and drafted a marital settlement agreement accordingly. He is very knowledgeable about all aspects of family law, including the laws governing retirement accounts and retirement funds which often become an issue in divorce matters. There were only minor changes to Nate's initial draft of the agreement and we were able to complete the process in a reasonable and timely manner. During the process, Nate was on vacation for some time, but despite being out of state, he would respond to my questions immediately and address any issues that came up during that time. Nate was also very mindful of keeping his legal fees within reason and he never wasted any time in meetings, phone calls or e-mails. I greatly value Nate's legal services, his professionalism, and his knowledge of the law and highly recommend Nate to anyone.

I would highly recommend Jody Santiago to anybody that has an Immigration matter on their hands no matter how challenging or simple your case may be. Jody took on my fairly complicated Green Card Abandonment case , in which most of the 5 other lawyers I consulted with were not nearly as optimistic and helpful as Jody Santiago.

Jody represented my husband at his deportation proceedings. She was able to get him cancellation of removal- despite his numerous convictions. She handed the case as though it was her own. I have spoken with 3-4 different attorneys regarding my landlord/tenant matters, and of those I talked to, I felt Maymei Szeto had much more patience to listen to my situation and evaluate the pros/cons of what can and cannot be done. Some lawyers were very cocky and wanted payment right away to get started on work when they did not even know the full story. Maymei took the time to discuss with me the whole situation, understand what my end goal is, and access the best path with least financial and time impact. It was a stressful situation for me, and in desperation, I was eager to take what seemed to me was the “easiest” route with little regard for the consequences of it later. I spoke to a few lawyers, but decided to hire Maymei Szeto because she seemed honest and aggressive. She also offered a good value, compared with other lawyers in the San Francisco area.
Thanks to Maymei's persistence, I got what I was entitled to in the end. I think she scared the other side into settling on my terms because she made it clear that she'd take it to the jury if that what it would take. She must be part pitbull!

Spencer Pahlke of Walkup, Melodia, Kelly & Shchoenbeger is the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be.
It is as simple as that. Do yourself a favor and hand all of the legal stuff to Spencer. Don't worry about anything he or his excellent staff does. I guarantee you he will make the best out of any rough situation both legally and financially.
Spencer is trustworthy. Even someone else with a bad previous lawyer experience (For example another person who had to decide between their two parents as a child and lost half their family because of another unfortunate past lawyer experience) could trust Spencer.
Lastly, if you are not lucky enough to get Spencer, I am pretty sure you will also be in good hands with one of his other legal colleagues at the Walkup firm. Although I do not have any direct experience with the other lawyers there, I think Spencer (being a partner at the firm) prefers to work with good people and an excellent staff.

Spencer did a tremendous job representing me. I was hit by a car as I waited at a stoplight on my bicycle, and sustained a severe traumatic brain injury. Jeremy has been very helpful so far in encouraging me to write letters to document events in my workplace. In fact, I think I might get out of the toxic environment I'm pouring my heart into (yes, childcare) to finally use my hard earned degree from UCB for at least better pay! He handled my wrongful termination claim awhile back, and he did a great job on it. But more than that, Jeremy goes out of his way to do work for the good of working people. His practice isn't flashy or trying to drag any old case in. He's not just practicing law to turn a buck. He really cares a lot about how employers treat their employees. Words cannot express how truly grateful I am because of Mr. Scott Kalkin. Unfortunately I had multiple upper extremity surgeries in 2012 which left me disabled and unable to work. I had to utilize my long term disability policy from my employer that I paid for since 2000. I did not understand at the time that I purchased an Erisa plan which is a very complex and difficult to understand policy. My doctors were wonderful at documenting my condition and filling out mounds of paperwork that advised my long term carrier that I was clearly disabled and unable to work. Unfortunately this did not matter to my long term carrier. I was advised by my carrier in 2013 that I was no longer eligible for my much needed medical benefits due to the Erisa laws and I would be receiving a letter with an explanation on how to appeal in the mail soon. Needless to say, I felt defeated and exhausted. I did extensive research on long term disability attorneys and decided to call Mr. Scott Kalkin at Roboostoff and Kalkin. Not only was Mr. Scott Kalkin kind and understanding but he took the time to explain the complexities of having a long term policy governed by Erisa. Mr. Scott Kalkin is extremely knowledgeable and is an expert on all of the complexities of long term disability policies. I’m happy to say that after hiring Mr. Scott Kalkin in 2013, he contacted my long term and to this day, which is now 2019, I am still receiving the much needed benefits that I deserve. He removed the burden and frustrations of having to personally deal with my long term carrier. I just wanted to take a moment to not only post my highest recommendation for Barbara, but also thank her. When I first started looking for representation, my instinct was to search online. My son needed to hire a lawyer to get visitation and then his ex filed domestic violence charges. She presented his case very fair and fought to have his rights to be a father.
