Cary has represented me my brother's and many of my friends here in Santa Clara. Always looked out for me and my family. Worked great on payment plans and resident. I'm always hearing things from people, yet it's all been hear so type stuff. His door is always open and will fight for you. He is an amazing father and always working. Spent most of his time drinking at the Tied House. He failed to appear in court for me, the judge was heated an issued a bench warrant thanks to Cary, who then advised me to NOT show up for a dependency court date because I was going to be arrested and he needed to get me put back on calender. What a train wreck this turned out to be. His motivation (to represent me) turned out to be the equity in my house. I was splitting up with my wife and he knew I was losing my house so he offered me $5000 on my $250,000+ in equity and was really peeved when I told what he could do with his "generous" offer. Since I wasn't going to let him steal my house he put me to work answering the phone @ his old office,doing some remodeling at his personal residence and also fixing what the tweakers had screwed up on his house down the street from his parents house. I was asked by Mr. Lindstrom if I knew anything about this drug called "Crystal" (2003) and he wasn't amused when I took the 5th on his question. All I can say for sure is what I seen with my own two eyes. I have heard other "clients" say he does some very disturbing things and if Karma has anything to do with it...Prison time with some of them former "clients" you screwed over (maybe they won't remember how you let some of their old ladies "work off" your bill) sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me.

We hired Attorney Marwa Elzankaly to represent a state licensed business. The contract stated Marwa Elzankaly would assist the business in getting licensed and permitted. Attorney Marwa Elzankaly charged over 40K to do and re-do the paperwork. Was unable to argue with the state licensing Attorney who was treating us unfairly. And Attorney Marwa Elzankaly withdrew her legal representation 1 week prior to the Administrative Hearing began. We had to spend over 26K to hire a different Private Attorney. We contacted McManis & Faulkner Law firm. Mr. McManis refused a refund of the 40K.

Apparently I spoke too soon. Janet made me believe that my case had merit. After being schooled in court on the laws by the mothers counsel and the judge. Not only has my life been turned further upside down with Janet admitting her mistakes, Unfortunately she didn't feel that any compensation or monies for her representation should be returned.

I retained Janet after a bitter 5 year child custody battle. After expending thousands of dollars on other attorneys and basically getting no where I truly felt that the courts and the legal system let me and my son down. Janet Syphers is a no nonsenses professional that did not, and has not led me to believe that what I felt was not only fair to me and my son, but also realistic in the eyes of the courts.

Jack Easterbrook was the "primary attorney", representing me some years ago, as a small business owner, in a Commercial case (theft of customers by an ex-employee). Easterbrook billed me approximately $50,000+ in legal fees, though got my ex-employee to pay a settlement of $30,000. (Not worth my time and uncertainty of outcome. But, lesson learned).
But then the ex-employee filed a claim, that the $30,000 was not justified..(even though Easterbrook had purportedly won it for me in the settlement). Easterbrook advised not to worry about including a settlement of it, as part of the original aforementioned herein case. But instead to defend against it subsequently (case #2). Then as case #2 proceeded, and remembering well the time and cost of case #1, said would cost less in legal fees for case #2, than paying back the $30,000. I said if it looked like it was going to approach $30,000 in legal fees for case #2, to stop and I'd pay the $30,000 to settle. However, over the course of several months, Easterbrook utilized what I'd call a slow/flood method (monthly "slow" billings of $1K - $2K, while suggesting close to closure...then intra-month with no warning, a "flood" billing of $30K+). This resulted in another approximately $50,000 in legal fees to Easterbrook, and still my having to pay back the $30,000 to the employee.
Summary: The only winner here is Jack Easterbrook, double dipping for approximately $100,000 in legal fees. While Jack Easterbrook:
1) first took a case that he arguably should have known would cost more than could win.
2) not able to win a subsequent case, just to be able to keep for me, what he "won" in the first case.
PS
As it's been some years, Easterbrook may: a) feign not remembering my case,
b) write some generic non-response, like this is so against his core values, that it couldn't have happened.
c) Or, he'll combine a) & b), while having a paralegal post for him. Since he's unlikely to go on record, under his own. You know what that means.... he's hiding.

Jack Easterbrook and his team at Strategy Law have done a great job for us documenting complex loan transactions, including deals with unusual collateral; ESOP owned companies, as well as matters involving multiple related parties and guarantors. Anthony Delas was such a horrible Attorney to deal with and here is why. Besides taking 2 years rather than 6 months to go through my bankruptcy process he always kept me in the dark of what was going on and what I should expect. He would always give me a days notice for meetings or important appointments which would get in trouble at work. His emails are very hard to understand and he would always have me resend attachments because he would "lose" them. I wouldn't recommend this attorney. He was such a headache to work with and made this process even more stressful. I honestly felt like he wasn't on my side. I was already very stressed and upset that I had to go bankrupt and he made the experience even worst.

Council Bisted took over my very complicated case to stop my ex from continuously filing false contempt charges against me. Prior to Mr. Bisted taking over my case my ex was actually escorted out of the SJ court house as he pointed his finger at me and exclaimed how he was going to have me 'thrown in jail.' Then came the Contempt court filings from him. Morris was recommended by two other SJ Court attorneys who said he was one of few in the area with the experience, knowledge and expertise to be able to take over my case and work with my ex who is a diagnosed narcissistic sociopath. Morris reviewed thousands of documents on the past four years of my case which was still unsettled regarding issues involving children/financial/property/retirement/ and now the contempt hearings ! He was able to review and summaries the case in 2 weeks!!!!!
Mr. Bisted was only hired to address the Contempt cases but he quickly saw the long history of Domestic Violence and insisted on filing a DVRO too. I was too scared of my ex and his sociopathic tendencies to do that in the past, although, I had always explained what I and the children went through to the court representatives and therapists, but Morris took the situation by the reins and got me through it. It was so liberating to see justice served in a place where a lawyer once told me.....'you came to the wrong place searching for justice.' Morris continues to work hard on all aspects of my case. He was able to bring most areas to a close. He is very well integrated in the Santa Clara County Court system and is very consistent, persistent, methodical.....and gets the job done regardless of the obstacles. We are thankful for you during this season of giving thanks. You are top on my list of people to be thankful for in our lives. My girls and I thank and appreciate your expertise, diligence .....delivered with kindness.

Mr. Bisted was hired as a mediator in early 2011 by my ex wife and me for a hopefully peaceful MSA as I have given up all of our community assets of about $2 M. As a mediator, he failed to advise my ex wife to accept my generous comprise. Instead he fueled her greed to ask for more unreasonable supports and dragged the case forever.
I met Mr. Bisted on court twice trying to reach an agreement without being represented. However, he lied each time in front of the judge by saying he'd draft an agreement that should be fair and signed by the parties by the next court date on December 13, 2012 and I wouldn't need to appear on court if I trusted him. Then I received a notice from court saying I failed to appear and the case could be dismissed if I fail again on next court date.
I even had to hire another true mediator, Mr. Stan Bartelmie, who practices across the street to deal with him. However, Mr. Bisted continued to be cold blooded and ignored many requests from Mr. Bartelmie. To make a long story short, a very unfair agreement was reached between my ex wife and me by which I had to pay her $3100 per month for C/S and S/S, and 100% of children's medical/dental, etc. My mediator told me that was very unreasonable and would not be ordered by court. Two months later the stipulated judgment was returned for many reasons-messed up dates and omitted mandatory language, etc. Mr. Bisted should have felt shamed as a law practitioner. Who knows he lacks of heart or knowledge?
I finally asked Mr. Bartelmie for a referral of a trial lawyer and hired Nathalie Daprile law firm. Ms. Nicole Myers who started the process in June 2013 and closed the case by the end of 2013. Mr. Bisted was grilled by my attorney and finally fired by my ex wife. I ended the case by saving $150K and favorable terms on all aspects.

I went to her free consultation and was blown away by all the information she gave me so I decided to hire her with no doubt that she will do a great job. Unfortunately, that was not the case. I've handed her all the related documents and summarized my case so she can be fully prepared but I was shocked how she came in without reading / learning about my case.
I was very nervous at the hearing so I listened to her advice but all she did was to take the easy way out for her, ignoring the best interest in me. It seemed like she didn't wanna put effort in protecting me or fighting for my benefit at all. Probably because she wasn't prepare at all. Even the opponent party said, " You should speak up, that's what you are here for "
She came unprepared, her legal knowledge is very limited and she made many mistakes. I was shocked when I read the legal document she created after the court. I needed to point out many of her mistakes. My case included simple calculations and she has an MBA but couldn't get the easiest math correct. I wish I never hired her.
I told my friend who's going through her divorce now that I regret hiring her then she happened to know her. She told me that Lucy's response on avvo was so fast, she was thinking of hiring her too but her emails were not responding to the questions she asked so she ended up not hiring her.
I checked her profile prior to hiring and felt I was very mislead of the " Rising star " award. I don't know how they give out awards but do NOT be mislead by that because it didn't apply in my case. The receivers is the worst performer in court.
She did such a lousy job. I never write reviews but decided to post here to save another me.

Great attorney with more than 40 years of experience. His mind is like a steel trap - he remembers every detail and brings them up when it matters. He knows EVERYONE in Santa Clara as he's practiced law here for 40+ years. He's not in this for the money, he does this for love of the Law and to help people. However his office is old fashioned - doesn't use the latest technology and it's difficult to get an appointment on his calendar or to reach him as he is in Court or negotiations from morning til night. He got me positive results - which is probably what matters the most.

AVOID AVOID AVOID. If you are looking to waste your money without any results then Travis Whitfield is for you.
I have been dealing with my divorce, child custody, and child support issues for over a year now. Travis and his team got involved and screwed that all up. Everything has been delayed due to him fumbling with the case. He paid little to no attention to the case and passed it along to multiple associates and paralegals to WASTE your money.
Throughout my case, most of the time when they sent over documents for me to review and sign, I always had them correct one thing or another, they were hardly ever accurate. Yet, they still billed me to correct THEIR mistakes. There is a long laundry list with this law firm.
If I can help at least 1 person avoid this law firm; I have done my job. You don't want to add to your problems during your hard times looking for a capable lawyer. Don't waste your time and money with this law firm.

I got a recommendation to check this lawyer for my divorce by a friend I say whose judgment I could trust. He asked what I wanted.
I said I want to make it as amicable as possible, I want what is fair, I want my peace, my freedom and most of all I want my kids to go through this as smoothly as possible. As long as I have my health, peace of mind, stable job and an option for my children to go to (their mom as I have learned exhibit strong narcisisstic traits which finally explained everything that troubled me all those years). His other question relevant : Do you think your wife is going to make this very difficult for you? My response was " Absolutely 100% she did not have to make threats that she is going to make it like hell for me, I knew"
He convinced me with these words:
I will fight for what is right for you and her
I do not tolerate using the children as leverage
I am not one who try to squeeze the other party unfairly
We move with the children welfare always the priority.
I said I am in. This was me filing for a divorce I tried all I can to work out for 20 years only to realize 18 years that nothing will ever change.
The promises not one of it were ever even came close to even get a jumpstart.
the best words he made were after the first court day in which I was shell shocked he did not do or say anything to advance or make known our contentions. The very first court day a few minutes before we even were called in to the courtroom I knew then that I made a very big mistake. As we were preparing all that I would say what about my, what about the, and what not. His one and best answer amongst was maybe we can add that in the next court day this is just the start!
When the proposals came and I so much had disagreement to some claims that were so absurd as we went along each proposal. Some I had no idea whatsoever how to proceed I asked what can you say, what legal advice can you give me. The best answer he has made was " well I do not know you are the one who has to decide what you want to do with it I am just putting note to make sure that we represent exactly what you want and how you wanted. One other answer he made was I do not deal with those financial stuff. It is not my line of specialty. So I asked maybe he can give me recommendations who to contact after all he has more than 2 decades at least of doing his job. But no he referred me to his secretary. First secretary left a few months after . I have a pending heart surgery. My job security is non existent, there is an active deliberate operation to try to get rid of me. My lawyer knew this so I am lagging with my payment of his services which is just about the only thing they are good in communicating with me. Now he is asking to be relieved from being his representative due to an irreparable relationship and an outstanding service fee. There never was an representation nor there ever was a relationship. I know nothing about law but I have common sense and I am in customer service. I am actively looking for a new lawyer that can simply just represent me for what is legally fair for me, the wife and the kids.

Mr. Kennedy was very disappointing. Many thinks he said he would do and could do he failed. In addition, when he was confronted with this, he did not complete the MSA and did not replay for months. I had to replace him.

I had a terrible experience with Mr. Kennedy. It took a couple years to finish the case due to his intentions of dragging on and on the case because he charged me by time. For example, we finished all the documents and he asked me if we could start all over again. Of course, I disagreed with that and he looked very disappointed. We were in the middle of the case which was put on hold because he took several very long vacations. It would have taken much longer to complete the case if my spouse's lawyer and I had not constantly requested him to do his job and not just leave the paperwork on the desk.

If I can rate it zero stars I would. This is absolutely a clown show of lawyers that just pass on the case from lawyer to lawyer! Nobody seems to have any information of anything. They pressured us to get the money within an hour to have the case worked on immediately. Which stressed my family and me out getting the money! As soon as we got it they comfort us saying they will start, but no lawyer ever contacted us and the day of the court they didn’t even BOTHER TO SHOW UP! Which resulted in the court to be pushed back till next month. Absolutely disappointed, I trusted this firm because I was recommended by one of their own employees! I urge anyone that is looking for a good lawyer and actually do their job DO NOT COME HERE! They will take your money and not give a care about your case !! They prey on financially unstable people to pressure them and take their money! Unfortunately I was a victim of this false advertisement they show case. I urge anyone that is trying to get their loved one out please don’t come here! There is a reason why they have less than two stars on ratings

I hired Drew to do some work with my startup as we were considering potential M&A offers - he was very responsive and helpful throughout the process. We had an issue come up with a contract on Sunday morning and he hopped on a call with me Sunday afternoon to discuss.
One thing to consider when hiring an attorney is the size of the firm, will you work directly with your point of contact or are you getting handed off to an associate? I worked with Drew from start to finish and appreciated his level of hands-on, personal service.

I hired Drew to set up my corporation professionally when I could have done it online for a few hundred dollars. After paying over $7,000 to have this set up by him, I am left with cleanup to do because he made mistakes. Similar to the other reviewer, his math was incorrect on my company stock options agreements, so those contracts are invalid. He also did not provide me with any stock certificates, so I cannot execute said agreements either. I asked him to fix these agreements, and he never responded. If I used on online service, I would have received a corporate package with certificates, templates, a company seal, etc. I did not receive any of this through him.
I also paid him to correct my company name, and he only corrected it in Delaware, so now my corporation has 2 names! He said it does not matter. He became very rude when I asked him to fix this and refused.
As a business owner it's extremely important to appreciate your clients, since without them, the business could not operate. I ended up regretting that I hired Drew and felt totally unappreciated as a paying client.
My review of Drew's service is not all negative. He did a good job on some documents, but overall I cannot recommend him because he made some crucial errors, became rude and did not complete the work I paid for.

Seemed OK at first. I hired him. After that a nightmare ensued. He got into a private correspondence with a prospective business partner and wrote all the paperwork to suit him it seemed (his consultancy contract etc)....even the founder stock split was compltely wrong, giving him 18.5% of the company instead of the 15% he was supposed to get. Luckliy I did the msth and discovered it. When confronted, Drew pleaded the fifth, (no repl) and just sent me a bill for the $1500 I spent on him from my personal credit card. Also gave me horrendous advice which could have got a prospective consultant on H1B visa deported. Never a sorry, I heard not one ooops (I am sorry) from this guy. Good luck...

Lo contratamos para nuestro caso y el solo iba a la oficina algunas veces a la semana a revisar lo que sus ayudantes hacían, cuando hablamos con el, no tenía idea de nuestro caso, esperamos casi año y medio y no avanzaron nada en nuestro caso, afortunadamente pudimos romper el contrato y contratar a otro abogado que si nos ayudo.
Lo que sucede es que el solo atiende y revisa su oficina eventualmente.
Definitivamente no lo recomendaría .

I went in to do my initial request for DACA and had no problem. I was very pleasant with the job but this was back in 2015 since then I decided to come and do my renewal with them but this time they were way more unprofessional.
First, I had to call several times for them to answer the phone. Not one or two more like seven and in two different days.
Second, I went in for the renewal process and was helped courteously, the process was prompt and professional but by my mistake I took a document back home that they needed so they asked me to send them a copy through email which I did immediately. Now after 24 days they call me to tell me they have not received the document which to me is way unprofessional. 24 DAYS and if you guys know the DACA process the days to submit your renewals is limited since you have to send it 120-160 days before. And there I lost about 24 days that I could have had my application processed taken away due to their unprofessionalism. They called me telling me I never sent the email when I did in fact the day they requested it. To me this is very delicate so it disappointed me to know that they had taken so long to tell me this. I'm a college student and DACA is very crucial especially for my financial aid. So while they do a good job doing the paperwork they lack professionalism in their customer service I hope they use this to fix their problems because before this I had no problem.

I will say that Brette herself was very kind and quick to inform me that I qualified for bankruptcy. However, this review has to do with, and I don't know if Brette knew this, but her staff told me that the average turnaround time for filing my case, once my fees were paid, was average of two weeks. the staff then told me that to expedite the case would cost an additional $200.00 to $250.00. I paid that extra money. And in the end, not only was the case not expedited, it took them a whole month to file the case. It was twice as slow to file the case than the average of two weeks they told me, plus they got that extra money out of me. Again, I don't know if Brette knew this herself, or if it was the staff that decided to hit me up for extra money. In consideration of this, beware. I am putting that I recommend Brette herself, but not her staff.

Stuart was great and to the point - introductory call was very productive, and he acted quickly and intelligently to the matter at hand. Yet, since that, his associate, Mabel, took the lead, while being highly incapable of handling complex situations. Seems like she knows how to fit issues into simple boxes she already knows how to handle, and is not capable of any level of tactical or strategic thinking. With that inside the box thinking, Mable is great at breaking down her tasks to the smallest levels, take the time to note each one, and charge you for it. This way, the bill gets inflated to at least twice of what it should have been. And yes, as of 2023, you pay $500 and hour for either Stuart or Mabel. Meaning you pay at a great lawyer rate, and get below average associate.

I believe Mr. Collins sat on my case and waited for the Insurance to just pay. He didn't go through the negotiations process and pretty much sat back & waited. I was promised things and never received them stating the law now changed. Mr. Collins also sent me for a mandatory physical exam by a worker comp. doctor whom then tried to blame me for the personal injury. Mr. Collins apologized stating it was his fault in sending me to that MD instead of choosing his own. He is personable, kind, and attentive, & returns calls. Once your claim has settled and need further assistance RE: insurance not paying remainder of claims as promised he doesn't respond to your calls.

=Mr Standifer represented me in a highly contentious divorce. He allowed the case escalate to a trial, then he lost the trial on every issue. =Part of the problem is that Mr Standifer almost always leaves everything until the last moment. When a request from opposition comes in, instead of forwarding it immediately to the client with instructions to read and comment, he defers it until the last day and then rushes through. Asked him many times to forward incoming information immediately, but he systematically ignored this request.
=Mr Standifier does not bill regularly. He only produces bill on demand or when the retainers runs out. He often makes billing mistakes, so keep detailed time record of all meetings with him. In fairness, he does not bill for minor or clerical tasks.

I would never recommend Patrick to anyone. He managed my case very poorly. He prepared only two documents for court and both was rejected by judge as "files inappropriately". He was not even able to file papers according to the San Jose court standards. It was not pleasant to stay in front of judge and hear words "It is an easy application, but at least you have to file it properly".

Lack of follow-up
Extremely disappointed with my experience with Attorney Maing. Beware if you are going to consult his services. My husband and I have been trying to contact him and no have not received any response. We reached out to Maing & Co and was transferred to the San Jose office. Went to the location and nothing. Unfortunately, I reached out to him in 2019 and last spoke with his assistant in 2020. My car accident case is from 2018 and remains unresolved. I am still trying to reach him. Very poor services, professionalism, and communication.

I really didn't want to have to write a bad review, but I feel compelled to warn others of Mr. Maing's behavior.
I was extremely disappointed in my experience with him. If you are going to hire him, PLEASE be prepared to constantly follow-up on given deadlines immediately once passed (and trust me when I say you will need to follow-up). And even then, expect your calls not to be returned. My calls were not returned until weeks later, and only after I actually spoke with his boss. This happened on more than 3 different occasions, so please remember to document your conversations well. But the saddest part was that when my calls were returned, there was an excuse not acknowledging that the ball was dropped. I was thinking that I was mistaken until I started taking notes during my conversations with him. Initially, It wasn't until then that I realized that I was being told one thing initially, then told something completely different later on. I had to have a very frank conversation with Mr. Maing and only then was he finally truthful about his errors.
Unfortunately, this did not change his behavior. 6 months was wasted for a complaint that needed to be filed within a year of it actually happening. Perhaps with more experience, things may change

I recommend you avoid this guy. I worked with him once and won't make the same mistake twice. He prepares motions like a Paralegal does - without anticipating there may be any response. He doesn't think two steps ahead - I'm not sure he thinks one step ahead. His lack of skills and lack of strategy or insight has led to his career bouncing around like a billiard ball in a Navy port when the ships come in.
At one point, Mr Vaccarezza's office was in a Bicyle shop [ 2240 Paragon Dr, San Jose] then he upgraded to the Flea Market [wasn't even suited to be an attorney for the San Jose [Berryessa] Flea Market where one could presume he was one of the few who could write English.
Mr. Vaccarezza graduated from Humprreys College of Law - which US News ranks at #6,494 in the national rankings. Some folks chose a top 10 school - he chose a school that was ranked in the top 10,000 in America.
Mr. Vaccarezza can put together legal contracts just like a 3-year-old can assemble a house of cards. If you want your contract or case to withstand the slightest opposition you may want to look elsewhere to avoid the matter crumbling like a house of cards at the slightest hint of wind.
He is however exceptionally skilled at pursuing people without the means to defend themselves.
Everyone has a purpose in life - I hope Mr. Vaccarezza finds his.

I contacted Loren back when he still had an office on Charcot. He had good presentation and assured me he understood how to handle my case. Nice guy - good reviews - so what could possibly go wrong.
Shortly after I paid the retainer - the problems started happening. My case was more complex than he expected.
He needed me to repeat details multiple times - so I switched to communicating in writing -
He would show up late - or not be available when he said he was available.
The forms he filed on my behalf didn't have mistakes - so he's good at filling out forms like a Para Legal would. But when it came to litigating of follow-through I wasn't impressed.
Shortly after I retained him - his office moved to the San jose Flea Market where he now acts as a para-legal for non-english speaking flea market vendors. I switched attorneys and saw a huge difference.
