David failed to appear for two family court appearances. David took advantage of a young father seeking legal counsel recently in Oakland County, Mi. I will be submitting a grievance regarding David accepting retainers without appearing, failing to call his client back, failing to appear in court, and overall being unfit to provide legal counsel/services in good faith. David, you told my son he would receive his full retainer back on Monday 8/19/24 for your failure to act as his legal representation. Where is his retainer? Call Jake back, answer your calls. Several red flags about David would be he doesn’t have a paralegal. A paralegal would make sure you are in court when you are hired to be there. David doesn’t return calls, texts or emails. Do not use David for your case he’s not acting in good faith & shouldn’t be practicing currently as an attorney. David you stole my son’s time and his ability to trust his own hired counsel. You should be ashamed wasting both parties time and money. I talked to you about your behavior on Monday 8/19/24, you told me my son is your best client…. Now people can read all about how you treat your “best client”. You need rehab. And I will make sure the bar association knows every detail about your treatment of my son.

Josh met with me in regards to my divorce and was very compassionate and understanding. He always had mine and my sons best interest in mind. The divorce was complete in 6 months and he was with me every step of the way, making sure I understood everything that was happening. Afterwards he did estate planning for me to ensure I would have no worries about my sons well-being should something happen to me. Mr. Tanis helped me with setting up my estate plan and trust for my children. He was very helpful and thorough during the entire process. He made sure that everything was spelled out carefully in order that it could be implemented smoothly when it is needed. He included many things that I would have not thought of. My mother became extremely ill and was hospitalized. Due to the nature of her condition. our family was in need of emergency documents and Christy acted quickly. Not only did she take my call on a Sunday, she drove to the hospital, brought a witness, and executed the documents with my mother and family members. Ok.... I’m from Las Vegas and Reno and thought it would be good to invest in a piece of property in Hamtramck. Going into the purchase paperwork got delayed by months (very frustrating). I found Parakh Law online, the price structure for services was perfect and so were the results! I closed the deal. Two years later I wanted to sell it, my plans changed and I just wanted out. Again Parakh Law was there with great rates to look the contract over. But the deal fell through and I was stuck in limbo for a month. I contacted Kathleen’s office and within and hour I was out of the dead deal so I could pursue a new one.

Mike has a desire to be successful in his services and representing myself. This was first demonstrated to me when Mike did his research on me to determine if I was being honest with him in the beginning. When he was certain that he was given all the correct facts, he took on the case. I really appreciated this, because when he accepted my case, he was committed to it and to me. Mike would review every aspect with me and explain the alternatives including the potential cost impacts with the various options before proceeding. Mike dealt professionally with everything that needed to be addressed. He discussed the issues with me and listened to what I had to say without making any pre-judgments. Mike would summarize the issues well and keep to the facts even though the other party attempted to “rabbit trail” at every opportunity. My “after-divorce” problems continued for years as the other party would continually challenge the final order. Even in this, Mike dealt professionally and worked to keep my interests protected. Mike is a professional individual that is first looking for a mutual agreement in a divorce but when a mutual agreement is not obtainable, he worked aggressively for my interests.

I had an ugly divorce and (1) year after the judgment was final…it got worse. I selected Mike to replace my original attorney. What a great decision! Joe Lavigne is an exceptional attorney and an even better human being. He's extremely compassionate, uber-responsive and highly intelligent. He is even a resource for the police community and trains officers on the utilization and dynamics of the DataMaster Breathalyzer.
My OWI was high profile and involved an accident. I needed the best representation possible. I thought I did my homework interviewing more than 6 locally based attorneys, because I felt that was necessary given the accident and the "homer" culture of the community. I hired someone who advertises a ton and claims to be the best. The reviews looked good. But his arrogance and lack of compassion showed through after I paid him, so I moved on. Then, I hired another attorney who was recommended due to his connections to the judges. I thought that was extremely important, so I hired and paid him too. This guy, however, was consistently unresponsive. He even put in a substitute attorney for a video hearing! But then I learned about Joe and hired him, despite feeling backed into a corner because of the locality. I made a lot of mistakes in this process but one thing is clear:
It does not matter where you are in Michigan, local representation does not matter. It can actually even hurt you, since some attorneys put themselves and their community relationships first. You need someone who is smart, thorough, responsive, compassionate and gets the job done. Understanding of the law is what matters! Joe Lavigne is all of that and more. He delivers results!

The best decision I ever made was hiring Joe Lavigne. His negotiation skills are unmatched and he is extremely professional and courteous with all parties when it comes to handling matters in a case. Joe managed to take a felony case punishable by a minimum of 25 years in prison down to a lesser charge with a 6 month probation period with dismissal of all charges upon completion of probation. He does not push you to make any decision you do not want to make, but will give you all of the facts and perspectives so that you can make a fully educated decision on where to take the case. You can tell he truly cares for his clients and is committed to doing whatever needs to be done to get a favorable outcome. Every time I met with Joe or was with him in court I always felt calm and collected knowing he was by my side during this trying ordeal. Hire this man. You will NOT regret it.

Years ago, as part of my divorce I granted my ex-wife the house that we bought together while married and she assumed responsibility for it. At some point she started paying her mortgage late and that eventually found its way to my credit report (some company called PHH). Since it had nothing to do with me, I disputed the account and submitted my divorce decree that clearly shows she assumed responsibility and I no longer have any interest in the house etc. the dispute was denied and come back verified. Frustrating since I had nothing to do with it but at the time I assumed I was stuck with it because in the eyes of creditors I was still on the hook for the debt (the house wasn’t refinanced out of my name at the time). There are several 180 days late and they are the only baddies left on my report. All this brought down my credit score to 522. I had an issue with GoDaddy not releasing a domain name I owned in an old account. I tried for 2 years to resolve the issue with them to no avail. Some lawyers would not take my case since it was too small an issue. John and his team were happy to help, and with a single letter and the right contact he was able to have them respond immediately. Within days I had my domain name and the issue was resolved. Highly efficient, cost effective, and nice to work with. I highly recommend him!

We hired Attorney Martin on a juvenile court case and she got our son justice. The court botched the plea under advisement deal when it switched the case to another courtroom. When Attorney Martin discovered this glitch she advised us, went into action, ordered the transcripts, gathered all court documents, then she scheduled a hearing before a judge and presto!! The plea deal was back and our son completed his probation and now has a clean record thanks to her. We were never focused on the money to retain her services, just the outcome and what Attorney Martin could deliver and she made good. But, she also worked with us on payments and I really appreciated that. We're all very relieved and pleased and if you're ever in a legal jam she's the one you should want by your side in court.
