Chris and his team were amazing and easy to work with. Before asking for representation the insurance of the other driver only wanted to pay $1000. They basically filed a lawsuit every month against me until I eventually lost custody of my kids. They have no integrity, well let their clients lie about rape in court to get custody. I’m a good dad but unfortunately law firms like these will pepper you to death with lawsuits until you can no longer afford an attorney, and win. They shouldn’t counsel their clients to lie in court.

First, I’m an attorney myself so I had fairly high expectations for the law firm representing me in my divorce. Walters Gilbreath was recommended to me by other attorneys to be, one of the best, if not the best litigation family law firm in Austin and I can say those attorneys did not steer me wrong. Luke Wallace was the responsible attorney for my case and he was awesome to work with and extremely competent. I think communication is key to an attorney-client relationship and Luke did not disappoint and kept me updated the whole time. Luke is also intelligent, hard working, a good listener, and either knows his stuff or was able to research and find the answer quickly; all attributes necessary to be a great attorney. I was also represented by Jake Gilbreath and he was awesome to watch in court. Overall, very impressed with my representation by Walters Gilbreath and would recommend them to anyone needing representation in the area of family law.

My experience with this firm was not perfect. There were some errors. At the end of the day, though, I walked away with the best possible situation I think the court was going to award me. I was advised ethically and I was billed ethically. I would like to say thank you after some years have passed since my divorce was finalized as I realize how it was handled and any frustrations I may have had are attributable to the system more than to the firm. Thank you for your advice and guidance, for keeping me from going down unnecessary court rabbit holes, and for helping me achieve financial freedom and custody of my child.

Worst experience ever. I thought I was hiring the best. 75k and two years later and zero results I found out I was wrong. I wanted Jake which he spent time to go over the custody case. Seemed to have a plan. He assigned a jr. attorney to handle the ins and out. He does the heavy lifting. That was going good. Until the jr attorney stopped communicating text phone and email. Happened twice. I contacted the office and I guess they had a parting of ways. Got assigned a new jr attorney. Jake cut his rate for the inconvenience. the new attorney was 12 months out of law school. I expressed my concerns. Well we got ran in circles by opposing counsel for over a year. We were never on offense just on defense the entire time. I would ask what can we do and we simply never had a good strategy. Final trial got pushed by opposing. Got reset 3 months later. 3 days before final trial opposing counsel wanted to reset again which I was advised to do. I did not agree and didn’t want to push back. Jake convinced me to reschedule again. But what I found out a week later is Jake’s office never filed the correct paperwork to be on the docket. So they are trying to file 3 days before we go to trial and of course not telling me. I find out from digging into things. They said they did file. I have docs from the court showing they were Trying to file 3 days before and it got denied. So we didn’t really have to reschedule because of opposing counsel. We were never on the docket. That’s why we had to reschedule.
Other issues was they actually filed documents with the court on my behalf with the wrong attorney name, wrong dates and in one part of the document they put someone else’s name on it. It was actually filed that way they never showed it to me before they filed it.
At the end of the day I had to fire them. I talked the CEO which is Jake’s wife. No one wanted to take responsibility.
at the end I got 9k back from them, which I thought was not even close to what it should been based on their incompetence

I would NOT recommend Hembree Bell to an enemy. I was told that I would get my retainer fee back in full, which did NOT happen, and I was relying on that money to help support my children and I until I could get back on my own two feet. Please don't make the same mistake I did by trusting these people with such delicate matters.

Kathleen Brown took on my case in 2021 it was a complete mess. Between an unethical attorney and frivolous filings and fabricated evidence she still didn't back down. I left with 50/50 and everything I asked for she is who everyone should have represent them.

Divorce was one of the most daunting events of my life. I was fortunate to have a long-time attorney in Houston recommend Charlie Bowes as a top divorce attorney in Austin. There were numerous challenges during the divorce case, including the ex-wife switching to three different attorneys. The process was during the COVID pandemic, which represented further challenges. For me, communication was key so that I could understand the potential ramifications of each element of the process. Charlie is not the type of attorney who only tells you what you want to hear, but he will tell you what is actually in your best interest. He always presented alternatives based on his vast experience on every issue. There were times when Charlie would have to “talk me off the ledge” during which I was taking a stubborn approach that could have had negative consequences on my case. In the end, I could not have found a better attorney than Charlie and his paralegal Charlyne.

AVOID, AVOID, AVOID. If you would like a competent lawyer that has your best interest in mind, I would advise you to find someone else.
I used Joe to file for a divorce and he did not review my marriage agreement (which I sent to him upon retaining him) until the opposing counsel brought it to his attention months later. There was a date error on this certificate which VASTLY changed my liabilities - from nearly 0 to my house, business, etc.
He provided no legal advice and advised me to go along with whatever the opposing counsel suggested, even though it was not in my best interest . He would not answer a single question I asked him and would charge me $100+ for each one sentence email he would send to me that did not provide any guidance.
He was extremely discouraging and did not suggest mediation. He merely suggested I give up and pay out 50%+ even though my situation was very unique and not clear-cut (a signed, informal marriage agreement with a date discrepancy). If I continued with Joe I would have given up an extra ~$500k in my divorce. In the end I paid $4500 for him to draft a boilerplate divorce petition and forward emails from the opposing attorney with no legal advice.
