Jillian French is truly the best lawyer you could ever ask for if you are involved in a Family Law matter. In the most difficult part of my life after being served with divorce/custody papers, very unexpectedly, Jillian was referred to me by a friend who previously chose Vaught Law Firm. I called the firm on a Sunday, after being served the day before, on a Saturday. On a Sunday, Tracey answered the phone immediately when I called. It was a Sunday afternoon and she took my call right away, and in a calm, centered, unbelievably peaceful, and reassuring way she told me I would be speaking to a lawyer the very next day. I cannot say enough about Scott and his team. Scott has a way of explaining things that makes complex and overwhelming things seem simple or at least manageable. I can't even tell you how important this is but if you find yourself going through a divorce, you know. Scott is the same way in the courtroom. He argues to the court in a way that is so straight forward, smart and simple. Other lawyers seem to want to confuse and complicate, but Scott explains and simplifies. Most importantly, he wins. He won every single hearing I had in my case which in the end gave us a ton of momentum and this led us to settling the case in mediation on terms that I was happy with. I really cannot recommend him enough.

I hired this firm back in 2017. If you are in a case where you have safety concerns about your child, PLEASE look elsewhere. An inexperienced associate handled my case back, arrived to a vital hearing unprepared, cowered in front of the judge (while opposing counsel and the birth father of my child chuckled), and ruined my infant daughter’s life. The damage done that day was irreparable. Sadly, they are just one example in a long list of lazy and incompetent attorneys who would rather hear themselves blather than listen to the concerns of the people paying them for assistance. As if all that was not bad enough, I received an email over a year after my case was concluded from Scott Milner asking me to remove my Yelp review without so much as an apology for destroying my life and that of my young child.

As an attorney I know that representing another attorney in an action can be difficult. My experience with Amy and then Scott through a long and contentious divorce trial was far beyond my expectations. Not only were they brilliant, responsive and dedicate, but thoroughly honest and transparent. I cannot recommend them more highly, and have already had referred clients thank me for sending them to FMLT.

I saw a couple positive reviews mentioning Slav after I contacted Walters Gilbreath to handle my case because I was too busy working to handle it myself, so I thought I was in good hands. Nope. There were many errors that I caught on paperwork he did.
Travis County made an error on the lien I had filed on my ex-husband’s house in 2015, and Slav basically said there was nothing I could do about that.
My ex-was trying to get me to drop the $1000/mo spousal maintenance because he had to go on disability. He hadn’t been paying anything for the past 8 years except for the 2 years he was garnished.
John Hennan was my ex-husband’s attorney and he kept making lowball offers that I had TOLD Slav I would not accept, but, to run up the bill with 6-min minimum calls, Slav would call me himself, saying he was obligated to present all offers. It was also interfering with my job, which was also a huge issue.
Luckily I had a friend in California who is an attorney and she was happy to read the documents that Slav sent, and pointed out several errors, and she made helpful recommendations.
As far as Travis county and the lien error, I used my lunch break to contact them, showed them the error, and told the clerk I needed the corrected lien ASAP because my ex- was trying to sell his house quickly through Zillow. The Travis Clerk was amazing. She not only made the correction, but she emailed and mailed a certified copy that I was able to send to Zillow.
I had to pay a $5000 retainer for someone to just use it all up and ask me to sign documents with errors.
I will never use this firm again.
I would have done it pro se if I didn’t live in WilCo and have a great day job.

Honest, respectful, compassionate and full of skill and zest. I can not express in tangible words just how amazing my experience was with this law firm, specifically Slav Talavera. We all know how tuff and unnerving a custody battle can be, but Slav calmed me and walked me thru the steps. He and his team where in contact with me every step of the way. From my first time in their office, they offered me refreshments and made me feel welcome and APPRECIATED for choosing them to represent me. I had a unique custody case that was a bit of an uphill battle for what I wanted to accomplish. Slav Talavera was incredible and got me AMAZING results and I was completely done within a few months. I thought this would drag out through the end of the year. He was extremely thorough and excellent with communication. I hope I won't need their services again, but will go back to them if I ever do and I highly recommend Walters Gilbreath.

I trusted Lisa Bustos with my future. You will find it evident by the end of this review that Bustos will, without hesitation, leave your life upended for a handsome profit. In fact, there is no guarantee that you will even be divorced when she is done wringing you dry.
Anger and outrage are often the driving forces behind high-conflict divorce litigation. Ms. Bustos will not exercise “client control” as she is morally and ethically bound to do, however. To the contrary, she sees dollar signs when her clients are at vicious odds with their exes. At a time when you are on your knees, Bustos will be drawing up paperwork to take out exorbitant lines of credit in your name while assuring you that your settlement will be considerable. This is a blank check for Lisa Bustos’s firm, and she and her attorneys will bill against your credit freely and recklessly.
My line of credit ran over $50,000 and Lisa Bustos still had her hand out for more money, right before she directed her associate attorney to withdraw from my case on the eve of final trial. The people who should have been at my side throughout had cut and run when I needed them most. I signed a disadvantageous Mediated Settlement Agreement rather than face final trial alone. My divorce was finished by a friend to whom I also owe attorney’s fees now.
The State Bar of Texas investigated Lisa Bustos for alleged professional misconduct. Bustos hired her own attorney and the investigations ended in dismissals of my grievances (the Bar’s Office of Chief Disciplinary Counsel is not a pillar of functionality and lawyers look out for their own). In the meantime, at least two other clients of Bustos Family Law have filed for bankruptcy, or are in the process of filing.

Lisa Bustos is a smart and tough lawyer, efficient and businesslike, but she also knows how to talk to people and explain what is happening and how to be more efficient. She also has financing options through a third party service if you need short term financing of your legal fees.

I initially chose JP Law Office for my divorce case based on their reputation and the promising start I experienced. Nicolette was approachable, proactive, and seemed genuinely committed to guiding me through this challenging time. In the beginning, I felt confident that I was in good hands. Their close attention to detail and prompt responses gave me hope that my case would be handled with the utmost professionalism.
However, as the case progressed, I began to notice a concerning shift. What started as a proactive and client-focused approach gradually turned into a frustrating experience. Communication became less frequent, and important aspects of my case seemed to be overlooked or delayed.Instead we were wasting hours in not so important details. It became increasingly clear that the level of care and diligence I initially received was no longer a priority. They were managing different cases but also mine and they had no incentives to spend the hours in the relevant and important details.
Unfortunately, this decline in service had significant consequences. Not only did it lead to unnecessary delays, but it also resulted in considerable financial strain and a disastrous sentence. I had expected a higher standard of service, especially considering the costs involved. Instead, I was left feeling that my resources were wasted, with little to show for the time and money invested.

This is the worst attorney to walk this earth, if you have a custody battle and use him, you will lose your child. He doesn't care about his clients, I lost my child because of him, he was slaughtered and embarrassed by the other attorney, like he was a 2 year old, he didn't prepare, show one shred of my evidence, which I collected myself, he defense was deplorable, he even didn't dispute that the other attorney used white out on a legal document and changed the amount of support I was to pay, I had only made $ 1,200 for the whole year, as i was a stay at home mom and he let me have to pay $580 a month to my ex, plus $50 an hour on supervised visit at $300 a week. I have no criminal record, never been in trouble, spoiled my child, to dwi, a big part of my community and school, my ex didn't want to pay child support and called cps on me, I was 100% cleared, Timothy Hutton was aware of this. How did this happen, my exes attorney was better and Timothy has no spine and doesn't care, the judge really disliked him also, he didn't even stand up properly to address her, she yelled at him for that disrespect, I knew at that point I would lose. He didn't gather not one piece of evidence, call any witnesses, get and evidence of my ex lying or from his work. I DO NOT RECOMMEND HIM, no stars is what he deserves!!!! He does not care about the end results, why didn't he protect me, why did I get supervised visits, for the rest of my 5 year olds life, he wouldn't even help me fix his mistakes and then ignored me and my calls. He lost big time and dismissed himself, rude!! I lost my whole life and he could care less.

I contacted Tim for an initial consultation very soon after my then-husband and I decided we wanted to divorce. He was very knowledgeable and helpful on that call, kindly answering the many questions that kept popping into my head as he described the ins and outs of the divorce process. I retained him, and was constantly grateful for his assistance every step of the way. His inventory form was very detailed and helpful, and the sample language he provided for the draft divorce decree was invaluable. And the paralegal who works for him was wonderful as well. I hired Kelly back in August 2019, notified him of my situation and asked if he could help me retain rights to my daughter. Not only did we not get anything accomplished he took $6900 of mine and for two months did not even contact me after telling me he was going to submit everything to the courts and I should hear back ASAP from him. That being said it was the worst experience I’ve ever had with an attorney. Don’t want anyone else to have to go down the route like I did.

Brad took over my case from another attorney during a difficult time. My daughter's father (my ex-husband) did not return her after her agreed upon visit the summer of 2014. He took away her means of communicating with me and others. Over a period of days, he would set a return date, then change it. My daughter was distressed and lost her trust in him. Because of previous attempts to get a resolution that supported my daughter, I did not have a lot of faith in the system. Brad is honest, has a serious level of attention to detail, great energy, and a strategic mind that works for the best interest of, in this case, my child. In late December 2015, Bradley Coldwell stepped in when my then attorney could not continue with my case as he was running for public office and my common-law husband of 16+ years was pulling every dirty trick he could think of to make the divorce as difficult and expensive as possible. After agreeing in April 2015 to mediation within 60 days, he refused to turn over discovery forcing me to subpoena the requested documents, denied we were married, demanded a jury trial at the last minute before the final trial date, then firing his attorney and hiring a new one who he said was “the number one family law attorney in Williamson County”. My husband than announced that he had deliberately conflicted out every good attorney in town. Thank goodness, he skipped Brad in the conflicting process.
Brad got a second temporary orders hearing scheduled for early February 2016. Not only did he get the agreement that I regretting making in April 2015 reversed, he also got me temporary support, a large amount of attorney’s fees and the judge denied every one of my husband’s requests. Watching Brad and his paralegal, Ryan Dixon, in action at that hearing was more than I could have asked for. Calm, cool and always in control. Brad became my hero that day.
Through discovery updates and everything else that happened Brad and Ryan kept me up to date, never missed a deadline and were always there to answer my questions and calm my fears.
Our half-day mediation in June 2016 lasted 14 hours and turned out better than I could have dreamed of. By agreement, I received over half of the martial estate and other provisions that I don’t believe another attorney could have gotten for me.
I believe that my now ex-husband understands that he did not hire “the number one family law attorney in Williamson County”, I did …. and his name is Bradly Coldwell.

I foolishly agreed to process my divorce in Austin, TX where my ex was living and compounded my foolishness by hiring Ms. Capps to represent me. Weeks and weeks would go by and I would not hear from her except to receive bills from her office. Ms. Capps was so enamored with my ex's attorney, that whatever crap he put forward was okay with her. Then she had me hire a very expensive person to evaluate my ex's business value and he knew nothing about that specific business! I ended up negotiating my own settlement with my ex. I will admit that it was a very emotional time for me and I got zero empathy from Ms. Capps. I had worked for law firms in the past and I know many attorneys, but Ms. Capps brings shame on the profession.

Mr. Hindera is knowledgeable and does what he says without creating false hope. Mr. Hindera represented me on a second offense DUI. I got a three day jail sentence and 15 months probation. Williamson county is very tough and I feel he did the best he could to represent me. He was familiar with the court personnel in Williamson and was fair. He is not a lawyer who is only interested in his personal gain. I believe, Mr. Hindera to be capable, competent, and trustworthy to represent clients without self seeking motives. I would recommend Mr. Hindera to anyone who has been charged in Williamson and Travis counties.

Charlie seemed to be great at first. His billing is ridiculous. I will not share my details of my case but I will share the fact that he refused to represent me after I went back to reinforcement. (I’m not even sure of this is legal). Charlie got a lot of money from me and left my children and I with debt and problems. that changed our lives until this day. His practice tactics are very questionable and to boot he could be incredibly demeaning. Why not shame a customer? Please if you care about your money, integrity, honesty , fairness.
