DO NOT HIRE THIS FIRM!. Mr. Schweitzer handed off my case to a junior attorney, Brooke Mulligan, and she proved to be completely incompetent. When I asked to have her removed from my case after making multiple major mistakes, he said he would oversee my case more personally. She continued to make constant costly and time consuming mistakes and actually argued with me twice, once in front of Don, regarding a subpoena that she served to the wrong entity twice and was going to serve incorrectly for the third time. When I again asked to have her removed, Don didn’t even have the professionalism to respond, but while I waited to hear from him, they continued to bill me until they conveniently used up all of my retainer. He never did have the courtesy to respond to me and make an effort to correct their mistakes. Divorce is bad enough but there is nothing worse than having an attorney who is not on your side. Brooke and Don, you know what you did, my file and emails prove it. You should be ashamed.

Jed helped me to buy my retirement benefits back from my former husband many years after our marital settlement awarding him 50%. Because my ex had never procured a QDRO to claim the benefits awarded to him, I was able to make an offer with JED’s help that he agreed to. That will make a huge difference for me in retirement. JED was kind, honest, and fair. His rate was reasonable, and I am so grateful for his help. John was very thorough and to the point. In my case there was a lot of history and info he had to take in. He was very understanding of how I felt and what I was trying to accomplish with my son and wasted no time. Because of John's help my son is a lot happier kid and safe. Making the Impossible, Possible: JED is amazing, my ex was awarded custody 2 years ago. I was at the end of my rope and had nowhere to turn. She wasn’t following the court order and allowing me the time I was awarded. That’s when JED came in, he was fair, affordable, and honest. I was just hoping for a little more time, which he said wouldn’t be a problem, well at the end of the day I was awarded full custody, and was also allowed to move him out of the state of California to where I live. JED was worth every penny sent.

Mr. Garland showed up disheveled and either drunk or hungover at my custody hearing. He was totally unprepared, and had not read or responded to my ex-wife's declaration to the court, which was full of lies. I saw her declaration for the first time at the hearing.
Because of his incompetence, I lost custody of my kids that day. After the hearing he said, "well, it's not all bad, you can see them during the summers." It is a miracle I didn't knock him out cold right then and there.
I should have sued him for malpractice. If you are even remotely considering hiring him --- DON'T.

When I first separated from my ex-wife 7 years ago, I made the mistake of retaining a novice attorney who succeeded in billing me over $5,000 in the first month simply for the pleasure of filing the divorce petition. It was clear that my faith had been misplaced. I quickly initiated a search for new counsel and found Mr. Garland quite by chance. That was probably the best find of my life. Mr. Garland is a top-notch attorney with almost as many years' experience as my former marriage had lasted. I found Mr. Garland to be very knowledgeable in family court matters. He billed fairly and accurately for his services. His countenance is the epitome of cool, calm, and collected both in front of a judge and in front of his client. I only wish that I had begun my divorce petition with Mr. Garland at the outset. Needless to say, he soon had things back on the right course. I firmly believe that his consultative approach and considered advice throughout were instrumental in resolving my case, including putting an end to all spousal support, in a much, much shorter time frame than could otherwise have been expected given that mine was a "marriage of long duration," not a phrase to be taken lightly in the state of California. Mr. Garland, I express to you my most sincere and heartfelt appreciation for all of your assistance in bringing this chapter of my life to a full and complete close. Originally, I tried local printing shops but they said they needed 10 days and a 1,000 count order minimum as my request was custom. I didn’t have that much time or that kind of money as I’m trying to start my own business right now.
I found RushMyPrints through a google search by pure luck and I’m really glad I did.
Their website says they can print anything and have it delivered as a rush. I didn’t think this was true because every other print shop can’t do this!
I filled out the online form asking for an estimate on a Tuesday at 8:00 PM thinking “well, I guess I’ll hear back tomorrow”. Nope! I got a quote 10 minutes later and they say they can have it delivered to my house by Friday! How is this possible?!
Wednesday morning, I email them what I need printed thinking there’s just no way they can fulfill their promise.
By Friday at 3:00 pm, I received the order at my doorstep. I was shocked! Surely the quality would be sub-par as nothing can be done this fast, right? Nope! I opened the box and the 250 booklets I ordered were amazing! Extremely professional looking! I couldn’t believe it.
They have a customer for life.
Don’t waste your money going anywhere else.

I am Rhonda’s actual client and have nothing but great things to say about her. I brought her on to my case in June 2020 in the midst of the pandemic and she was incredibly compassionate and empathetic with my situation. My ex was withholding financial information and after filing my own response and paperwork I realized very quickly that this situation would cause for more than just self representation. He dragged on our proceedings by stating “he didn’t know” on more than one occasion to the judge, filled out his own paperwork incorrectly, didn’t follow court procedures with serving paperwork to my attorney and has in general been very verbally abusive and accusatory in declarations presented to the court that were false and had no relevance to the case further dragging things along. All the while Rhonda has been encouraging and supportive and reminding me of what is actually important to getting things finished. She did not allow me to get caught up in the drama with my ex and instead helped me focus on what mattered most, my kids. She negotiated a very fair custody and visitation agreement that benefitted both parents equally, got us signed up with Our Family Wizard to communicate about the kids, recommended a book on how to interact with each other in our high conflict divorce and even negotiated our financial disagreements in a fair manner. The only real delay in our proceedings were due to Covid related court dates (2020/2021) and then lack of preparedness by my ex who was self represented. Divorce paperwork was filed by my ex in June 2019 and our first original court date wasn’t scheduled until March 2020 which was delayed by Covid until October 2020. CNV was completed in October 2020 and the only thing left were financials which took all of 2021 to get finalized at no fault of Rhonda’s. I am very satisfied and happy with her work and encourage you to give her a call to see if she is the right fit for you. Don’t be swayed by anonymous reviewers pretending to be her clients. She puts your kids first and that’s most important.

Run don’t walk from the worst attorney here in the valley! Rick Has a disconnection from his clients that is absolutely unreal! Considering you’re going through, probably the worst period of your life and the most vulnerable. Rick will not only not hear you out, but if you have insane evidence like I did he won’t show it in court and blame it on you. Example, I had video proof of abuse on my own children and written proof but yet it wasn’t ever shown in court to the judge. I could give tons of examples just about Rick, but this would become a novel not a review. But also The staff is absolutely horrible, rude, could care less and give you extreme attitude when you’re at the most vulnerable time dealing with your children. I usually don’t write reviews, but if I could save one parent from the absolute nightmare I went through with this law firm it was worth it. Also, he wanted to charge me more than $10,000 for absolutely nothing and still wanted to charge me more to present the same evidence I showed him when I first looked him up. This law firm will just drain you for all your money without any outcome. Literally at the end of the case I was exactly where I started, and I could’ve done on my own probably better ! His secretary is probably the rudest woman I’ve ever known, and what you get for over $10,000 is speaking with Rick a few times at Tops and you have to fight just to speak to your own attorney for that much money so you’re mostly speaking with his secretary thats insanely rude during the whole time. so you’re pretty much paying $10,000+ for a paralegal. I was hoping to find an attorney with good ethics and that cared for father‘s rights, and I got the complete opposite and also found out at the end of my trial that Rick and the other attorney of the mother that was abusing my children with the stepfather that actually hit my children Was going on vacation with each other. So not only did I get screwed but come to find out during the whole time both attorneys knew each other on a personal basis, the other attorney was Arnold also here in Fresno. I hope he goes out of business or retires because he obviously doesn’t care about his clients anymore. so once again don’t walk away from this attorney run! I would give my life in a heartbeat to choose another attorney and do the fight all over again to get my kids back. I hope this saves and helps some parent looking for justice for their children.
if you ever watch the movie “law, Biden Citizen”, and the first part where the person that’s supposed to be defending, you shakes the hand of the person taking away your children that sums up Rick Banks! And if you’re a father and live in California, everything weighs against you, he will not fight for you. He’ll take a vacation with the person taking away your children. Funny part and the only funny part is we had a different Attorney with my stepdaughter, and we almost got full custody plus we could’ve had her full-term but we decided it’s our child’s decision not to have her father and her life when she gets older. Because we believe every child has the right to decide if they don’t want that person in their life. plus I have a son that we have 100% of the time.but yet with my two oldest daughters, the dirtbag couldn’t show the video that showed my children getting abused in court because that would cost another probably 10 grand. to sum it up if you want father right in California do not go to Rick Banks.

To qualify myself as a consumer of legal services: I've worked with four family attorneys in two California counties, so my opinion is somewhat comparative. My experience with Rick Banks' Law Office was very good. He was the same attorney in the courtroom as he was in the office--consistent, knowledgeable and reliable. His staff members were as savvy and honest as he was. Regarding value, the service was on par with the rates, so I feel my money was well spent.

Consulted with quite a few different offices before deciding to go with Donna, and I clearly made the right decision!
Donna was able to navigate through what was candidly a rather complex eviction situation.
She fought hard through the entire process, and ultimately we were able to reach a settlement before trial that would be seen as a winning verdict.
Incredibly personable, and leaves no page unturned. Would highly recommend to anyone who may be dealing with a similar circumstance.

Mrs. Donna Pettway I found on yelp. I read 2 reviews and called the number. Mrs. Pettway answered the phone it was 9:01am. She was extremely informative and her level of expertise was fantastic.
Mrs. Pettway took me on as a client, I had less than 15 days for trial. Mrs. Pettway prepared me legally and mentally.
Mrs. Pettway was able to negotiate before trial in the hallway of the courtroom with the plantiff multiple attorneys. In the end!I won, a settlement.

Donna is one of the worst lawyers I've ever dealt with, she is extremely unprofessional and out right ghetto. She missed several timely emails with the oppositions lawyer that caused us to lose the opportunity to mediate. She then hits us with a 20k+ in legal fees and said you should just settle and pay them 35k. I would never recommend her or her firm to anyone, unless your looking for an unprofessional and incompetent lawyer. Worst experience in my life and I honestly felt cheated and taken advantage of by someone we paid to fight for us and trusted to represent our best interest.

The absolute worst attorney experience of my life. So unprofessional. Took my money and did nothing to help me. Improperly filed paperwork that put me in a worse position than I was already in and then asked me for more money after. In court the attorney (Mark Reel) had no knowledge about me or my case. No consultation before my court hearing. Then said they were going to give me a partial refund then ghosted me. Do not give them your money.

I'm not sure who wrote all the reviews, on or around the same day, but their experience does not match my experience with Ms. Stiles at all. I found her to be a highly aggressive, win at all costs, attorney. Her win at all costs game plan almost destroyed my coparenting relationship with my ex. Let's face it, financial issues during a divorce are not easy but they should always be fair and as transparent as possible. I began to see my coparenting relationship deteriorate before my eyes with each strategically crafted correspondence between lawyers. The stress on my children, from the financial battle going on between their parents, was a heartbreaking experience to witness. My decision to finally seek another lawyer was the best decision I ever made. My stress level went down, my divorce got finalized, and I have an amazing coparenting relationship with my ex (I have to wonder if the other reviewers can say the same). I may not have gotten all the money out of my divorce that I possibly could have using Sheila Stiles and her firm, but I've got piece of mind in knowing that my kids will always know that I treated my ex with respect and fairness during a really difficult time.

I felt overwhelmed by the experience of divorce and Sheila was professional, courteous and supportive throughout. Because of Mr.Hatherley I went from having 0% custody to now having 50/50 custody of my daughter. I was at a point in my life where I was not able to see my daughter at all and because of Mr. Hatherley that is no longer the case. Mr. Hatherley changed my life in so many ways. He was honest with me, re assured me that if I did everything he told me to do that we would be successful and because of him my daughter is able to share equal time with me and her mom. While in court I have witnessed Mr. Hatherley embarrass other respected lawyers because of his knowledge of the law. I don’t understand how other lawyers think they have a chance against Mr. Hatherley in the court room.

I was really happy with the service provided by Daniel and Ayal. They always made themselves availablr to answer my questions without making me feel like a bother. Only putting 4 stars instead of 5 because Maria, the receptionist, was kind of rude. But I just spoke with Daniel for the first time since my wedding, and when I told him about my experience with Maria, he explained that she was only at the firm for a week until him and Ayal picked up on her less than friendly attitude and let her go. Very much respect that they saw the issue so quickly and fixed it.

I spoke with Gary Cornwall over the phone during the beginning phases of my divorce. Gary called me back after I left a message asking for his help. I hired her as a family lawyer to get me child support from a completed Dissomaster that was completed by my previous attorney (in over a year she never got me anything nor was anything filed in court), she was to help with a breech of fiduciary responsibility (which is why I overturned a free hybrid judgment, never did anything), show the court the perceived neglect of my children from my ex (from many pictures and testimonial from people) never requested a court date, the divorce itself as I requested a trial and trial setting conference. She claimed she was super busy so I emailed her that she should put it on a date she could attend but, she booked it on dates she could not be there, she burned up my retainer, $3,000.00 and I supposedly owe her more for literally NOTHING COMPLETED. She filed a motion to be relieved after I went to court to find it had been taken off the calendar without notifying me. Now, I have two upcoming court dates with no family lawyer to represent me and a mediation conference. She worked with my Civil lawyer who said she was incompetent or surely extremely lazy. She seems to be in law to make money and not represent the clients with their best interest a heart. Many times I felt she was asking me for advice or to make decision that a well-versed lawyer
should be advising me on. We met initially in an office that was not her own, she never wanted to talk or meet face to iron out our plans or streamline the process for me. Ultimately she made excuses for failures and gaslighted me as if I were a lawyer ( would never step by step walk me through a process to complete anything and she would not complete anything). If you are treated like me she will take your ($5,000) money and charge you to make requests or send emails that she won't fulfill or complete while your conversations and email cost you, and she will make sure your retainer is vanishing talking to opposing counsel while accomplishing nothing. Instead of working harder or smarter, her true nature will come out and she will quit instead of doing what you paid her for. She also predicted Judge Silberman's responses or what she thought he would do to make excuses for why she couldn't or wouldn't do her job.

Family matters are sensitive topics, and to have some lawyer -- whom you'd like to hire! -- rudely downplaying your concerns is far from the type of lawyer you should retain. Don't waste your time. I used Rick in 2017 to draft the MSA (Marital Settlement Agreement) in my uncontested divorce - specifically to assist with disclosures and filing. Unfortunately, he did such a terrible job the judge threw my entire MSA out in June of 2020 after 3 more years in court battling my ex-wife. In his final ruling the judge identified a number of inconsistencies specific to disclosures, so rather than boring you with my story I’ll let the judge’s words from his final ruling speak for themselves:
1. There is no evidence that he supplied a statement of all material facts as to assets and obligations, nor did it include his last two years income tax returns (Family Code Section 2105 b)
2. His schedule of assets and debts contains no statements for the various accounts identified therein.
3. The personal loan from Christopher’s mother, is identified as being incurred during the marriage with a balance of $XX,XXX; no promissory note was attached, although one existed (exhibit 7).
4. Because he did not provide a statement of all material facts as required under Section 2105 b 3 there are no factual contentions provided to wife that would allow her to ascertain if the credit card could be her separate liability.
5. The court looks with suspicion at the conflation of the preliminary and final declarations of disclosure, which was done in this case; especially here given the very short time frame from the filing of the petition to the presentation of the disclosures in full marital settlement agreement. Add to this, that the disclosure itself was woefully inadequate.
6. Based upon the evidence addressed herein, the court finds that Christopher’s declaration of disclosure, which he identified as his “final declaration of disclosure”, fails to comply with Section 2105e. The court would set aside the MASA and judgement based upon this failure alone.
While I provided Rick with all of the documentation required it is apparent from the quotes above especially numbers 5 & 6 that said documentation was not included resulting in my disclosures being insufficient. Rick did not advise me on the incompleteness of my disclosures per our agreement and he also used a form in which my ex-wife adopted my disclosures. It was only later that I discovered this form is acceptable in Sacramento County, but Rick failed to make sure it would also be acceptable in Placer County and it wasn’t. As a result, I now need to pay my ex-wife money I do not have because I’ve spent all my money on attorney’s fees over the last 3 years to fight the motion to set aside my MSA which I thought was a solid case with solid disclosures.
I asked Rick for his money back and gave him 30 days to do so before I wrote this review and filed an official complaint with the California State Bar and he refused. Not sure why he made that decision based on the information above, but either way spare yourself the frustration and find another attorney.

I came to Darci in panic as my ex-husband and father of my 2 kids was loosing all self control. He had already been effecting us for a decade due to his uncontrolled mental illness, however it had now turned to death threats, stalking and harassment in a consistent way. After hearing from other lawyers that I did not have enough to be awarded a DVRO, Darci assured me I had plenty of documentation and sure enough she got me a 5 year domestic violence restraining order which also gave me sole custody of the kids with only supervised visits between the kids and their dad. Later she helped me turn my legal separation into a divorce and after that she helped me get my Move Away request put through the court once I remarried and moved away to a different state. After my ex requested unsupervised time with the kids, something I knew was unsafe and both kids did not want, Darci helped me argue against a terrible court mediator who did not look at any of the 100+ pages of documentation showing the father was not safe and suggested I obtain a Custody Evaluator to more thoroughly review the situation and facts and make more informed and safer conclusions. I paid the money to that evaluator, which was not cheap, but so worth the money. Now their dad has substantive tasks he must accomplish before either me or the courts are OK with unsupervised time (26 weeks of anger mgmt, weekly therapy, psychiatry for meds, requiring more visits on his part to show effort, reunification therapy with the kids, etc). Beware of bad court appointed mediators, however Darci helped me immensely to sort through the tough decisions and emotions of the events and come to a conclusion that was safe and in the best interest for the children. This process was not cheap, but children never are and if you are going to pay for anything it should be for the well-being of your kids. I would definitely recommend Darci McKean for anyone dealing with the issues I mentioned above.

My story is probably nothing new and will sound very familiar. Phil and I met and married in Dallas. I worked during our marriage and my husband was the primary source of income with consideration to our lifestyle. I also helped with his financial problems early in our relationship, before and after marriage. I had more in savings, a steady job, and an A rating credit report. After three years of marriage he wanted to move back to Los Angeles, where he was working in the entertainment field, and restart his career that collapsed due to a substance abuse problem. With reluctance, I quit job and career path and moved from Dallas to Los Angeles for my husband’s career, which increased his income substantially. My career however faltered in Los Angeles and I had to start over again in a different field and work my way up. After 12 years of marriage we divorced.
Two years after the divorce was final, my ex came back requesting to stop support claiming health issues was causing him to work less. I contacted my original attorney and he could not take the case due to his workload and traveling and he sent me several referrals. After contacting all of them I felt confident with Jennifer Skolnick. She returned my calls, was communicative of the process and gave me realistic expectations of possible outcomes. She didn’t sugar coat the realities of court proceedings which I appreciated.
Part of the legal process required financial disclosure on both parties, and this is what scared me most. I was diligent about saving my money for the future and I thought a judge would side with my ex-husband and say that I didn’t need his support any longer. With a fine-tooth comb, Jennifer reviewed my financials and my ex-husband’s and determined that there were no significant changes in either of our income’s and he did not work less or make less since his visits to his doctor. But still noted that a judge will make the final decision. She then reviewed his medical reports and tests and found a statement buried in the reports that Phil admitted that he did not believe that his health was affecting his work and was able to work full time-even though he claimed his health was the reason he was requesting to stop spousal support. I believe it was Ms. Skolnick’s diligence in reviewing years of financials and medical reports that helped our case for spousal support to continue. In writing my declarations and memos of opposition Jennifer wrote with a logical and concise flow, had facts to back up statements of Phil’s financial stability, my contribution to my marriage, giving up my career for his, and his ability to continue to work and that his health improved with medication. There was no comparison with Ms. Skolnick’s declarations and memos of opposition and my ex’s attorney’s. My documents were factual and well written whereas his attorney had no facts to back up any of their grievances.
Ms. Skolnick’s attention to detail was valuable. She asked several questions about my marriage, asking about subjects and details I never thought would make a difference in defending my case. Her questions made me think about what I did for my husband financially before and during our marriage, where he was in his life before we met and when we met, our lifestyle habits, his spending habits and mine, and the responsibility of taking care of our home. It was an emotional 5 months of gathering documents and remembering the beginning, middle, and ending of a relationship but Ms. Skolnick was able to help and keep me on track with her “to do lists” for me that helped me get through this process.
