Lindsay just helped an individual I am close to with a legal matter involving a juvenile. Because she took the time to review the underlying statute, she discovered an error in the DA's charges. We also found her extremely personable and willing to cover all the bases. Highly recommend her.

Lindsay recently helped our family with a legal matter. My wife spoke with a couple other attorneys and decided on Lindsay, which was a great decision. Lindsay is extremely competent, and it is obvious she cares about her clients and does a great job. I can't imagine anyone doing a better job of guiding us through a difficult process.

George got a case dropped for me in adams county and significantly reduced my fines and community service/classes in Aurora city court. He used to be a federal prosecuter in Miami and I would definitely recommend his legal services. They stopped the court proceedings in Aurora, because i had George, to bring in a more experienced city attorney because they were frightened by his presence and he knows what he's doing.

He was really fast to respond, knew his stuff and basically got me what I needed, and he keeps his overhead low so I think that is why he was pretty affordable. I don't really feel like paying for a marble office floor and he takes my calls directly.

Henry's expertise allowed my wife and me to fully understand the process of valuating our business. Utilizing his knowledge, we were better able to collateralize negotiating terms for venture capital funds in the form of lower rates (making us more money). Although our meeting was brief, I found him to be honest and will be incorporating his counsel into our next round of contractual negotiations.

I was recently stopped by the police while vacationing in Denver and I was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs (marijuana). The Denver police took a blood draw and that pretty much sealed the deal for a DUID for me. The next day I was released and started calling any attorneys I could find who had experience in marijuana related DUI cases and almost everyone I spoke to said I need to call McAllister Law Office. I remembered seeing them on the NORML website so I called and spoke with Nadav Aschner. Being I lived out of state I needed someone who could represent me so I would not have to fly out a bunch of times and possibly lose my job and have the headaches and all the expenses. Right from the start I could tell Nadav had the knowledge, experience and confidence I was looking for. Nadav was extremely knowledgeable on Colorado law and even went the extra mile to research how the arrest would affect me in regards to possibly losing my license in my home state. Nadav took care of everything and I only had to fly out once for the sentencing. In the end Nadav was able to get my driving under the influence of drugs (DUID) charge reduced down to a driving while ability impaired (DWAI) which meant a much lighter sentence for me. I am looking at 9 months unsupervised probation and a small amount of community service and minimal court costs thanks to Nadav. I would highly recommend calling McAllister Law Office and asking for Nadav. He was also great at calling me whenever I had a question or replying by email. Use these guys, they are worth every penny. I would also mention that my decision was also highly based on the cost since I am on a budget and they had a very fair price in comparison to the many other lawyers I called in the area and they were able to work with me with very manageable payments. I really can’t thank Nadav and the staff at McAllister Law Office for all they have done.

I had never been in trouble to where I needed a lawyer before. I am so happy I was refered to Paul. He was very honest and extremely polite and pleasant to work with. If I had a question, he had an answer. I knew it was the right answer because he read it to me directly from the law pages. If I ever think he can help a friend or myself again, he will be the first person I call. He has totally changed my view on attorneys. I can't thank him enough.

Liz defended my son in sex assault case and in today’s climate about alleged sex assault and the me too movement is no easy task, as it seems accused are guilty until proven innocent. I had no idea what he, and many other young men, are up against when this happens, and it doesn’t take much for law enforcement to rush to judgement and file charges. She got a not guilty verdict after a 4 day excruciating trial and was absolutely brilliant.

I'm going to try and refrain from writing an essay about ms. Ivy's representation, but it truly needs an essay to properly relay the true level of dedication, effort and professionalism portrayed by her in my case. Ms. Ivy took my case which was considered a little short of impossible to secure a favorable outcome by legal standards, and of which I was constantly reminded of by other lawyers. but I thank God all mighty and all wise for placing my case in such a professional, hard working, dedicated, smart and admirable lawyers hands. I myself was resigned to the unfavorable outcome as I knew it was a little short of impossible to win my case, but at trial it became appearant that ms. Ivy was more then prepared for the prosecution and the judges line of question and thinking. The documents presented were over whelming, the research conducted was overwhelming the legal precedence presented was undeniable and at the end God blessed us with a win. I really am trying to refrain from going on and on as to my admiration and greatfulness to ms. Ivy but I hope this review gives a small glimpse as to the beautiful and dedicated, professional soul that happens to be ms. Ivy Kind regards Mati

Faisal was recommended to me by a mutual friend. I had never met nor heard of him prior to my friend's recommendation but I am very grateful I met Faisal. From the moment we first met, I felt like I was a priority to Fas, never just a number. He treated me the way anybody who needs a lawyer wants to be treated, like a person who made a mistake, not like a criminal. He insisted on me not talking about too many facts of my case at our first meeting so that his first look at the evidence in my case would not be biased by my thoughts and opinions, that made a lot of sense to me looking back now. He dissected all of the evidence presented to him and used his expertise and knowledge to help me avoid a potentially catastrophic outcome. I couldn't have hoped for a better result. His fees were more than fair and completely disclosed from the very beginning. I would HIGHLY recoommend Faisal to anyone who has made a mistake and needs the best legal representation without costing a small fortune. , you won't be disappointed.

After I had a one car accident and totalled my car, I engaged Harold Dubinski to fight the ticket I received for reckless driving. Harold immediately grasped the unfairness of the ticket and empathized with the trauma I was suffering from the accident itself and the headache involved in replacing a car right away. He represented me at my court appearance and refused to give up until all charges were dismissed. He kept me informed throughout the process. He is the most determined, persistent lawyer I have ever had the privilege to know.

She is young as of 4/7/14. Likely fresh out of school. But she cares and is a people person. She is well spoken and successfully argued to get my bail reduced from $10,000 to $1,500. They couldn't go lower. She has a good memory and is diligent. I was a lawyer myself and a former prosecutor. Did defense work some also in New York and Colorado. Haven't practiced in years. I recommended her highly at the level she is at now. I will press to get her assigned to my case for trail.

Initially, Sean kept me out of prison on drug charges with a fantastic deal for deferred judgement (it was my first interaction with the law), but I violated my probation with a DUI (which he eventually got lowered to a DWAI) like an idiot and he again, saved me from jail and negotiated me just starting over the probation which was much better than 2-8 yrs in the clink. I would recommend Sean and his associates to anybody looking for an A class attorney.

Edward Levy helped me correct my record with CBI pertaining to firearm possession. Before meeting with Mr. Levy, I was unable to obtain a Concealed Carry Permit because CBI returned “denied” on a background check. I knew the same would happen for a firearms purchase, even though my federal firearms rights had been restored, and I was legal to possess under Colorado law. I didn’t know what to do. Mr. Levy formulated a strategy and two weeks after implementing it CBI corrected my record. The maze of federal and state firearms law can be daunting and complex. Edward Levy eagerly took my case after I had approached 60 or so attorneys who couldn’t even understand what the problem was. He is well versed on federal and Colorado state firearms rights issues, and an intimate knowledge of both is required for good representation It was a pleasure working with him.

Kevin is a fabulous lawyer! I have delt w/ many lawyers on a variety of issue but Kevin has proven to be outstanding! He is a credit to the bar association & a fabulous attorney. The biggest thing thing that separates him from the rest of the lawyers is that Kevin truly does care about his clients & actually returns calls very quickly!! I was so impressed with how quickly he returned my calls when this is so rare for attornies & probably the biggest complaint against them. Kevin represented me in a family law/custody battle & I am very , very happy with him & continue to refer him. You are welcome to contact Kevin to use me as a reference. I have delt with many lawyers but Kevin is one in a million & I believe worth every cent..(again, rare to say about an attorney). Kevin knows the law & is a very strong attorney & person. Kevin not only is very ethical but also very compassionate for his clients & cases. He truly does care & goes beyond the "call of duty" to help you. What a Criminal Defense Lawyer Can Do for You

A criminal defense lawyer provides legal representation to individuals or organizations accused of criminal conduct. If you're facing criminal charges, a defense lawyer will work to protect your rights, build a defense strategy, and ensure you receive a fair trial. Their primary goal is to reduce or dismiss charges, secure an acquittal, or negotiate a favorable plea deal.

Criminal defense lawyers have extensive knowledge of criminal law and court procedures. They investigate your case, identify weaknesses in the prosecution's evidence, and represent you in court, ensuring that you have the best possible defense.

When Should I Hire a Criminal Defense Lawyer?

It’s crucial to hire a criminal defense lawyer as soon as possible if you are facing any criminal charges. Some situations in which you should seek legal representation include:

  • Arrest or police questioning: If you've been arrested or are under investigation, hiring a lawyer early on can prevent self-incrimination and protect your rights during police questioning.
  • Felony charges: Crimes such as murder, assault, drug trafficking, or robbery carry severe penalties, including long prison sentences. A defense lawyer is essential in these cases.
  • Misdemeanor charges: Even for less serious offenses like DUI, theft, or simple assault, a lawyer can help reduce penalties, negotiate alternatives to jail, or get charges dismissed.
  • Plea negotiations: If you’re considering a plea bargain, a lawyer can evaluate the deal, advise you on its consequences, and negotiate for more favorable terms.
  • Probation or parole violations: If you’ve been accused of violating probation or parole, a lawyer can defend you against additional penalties or revocation.
  • Juvenile offenses: For minors charged with criminal acts, a criminal defense lawyer can protect their future by minimizing legal repercussions or keeping the case in juvenile court.

What Does a Criminal Defense Lawyer Do?

Criminal defense lawyers provide comprehensive legal services to protect their clients’ rights throughout the criminal justice process. Their duties include:

  • Case evaluation and investigation: Reviewing the evidence, interviewing witnesses, and investigating the facts to develop a strong defense strategy.
  • Legal advice: Advising you on your rights, the charges you’re facing, and potential defense strategies, including whether to take a plea deal or go to trial.
  • Negotiating plea bargains: Working with prosecutors to negotiate a plea deal that could reduce charges or minimize penalties.
  • Court representation: Representing you in all court hearings, including bail hearings, pretrial motions, trials, and sentencing hearings.
  • Filing motions: Filing motions to dismiss charges, suppress evidence, or reduce bail, depending on the specifics of your case.
  • Trial preparation and defense: Preparing a defense strategy and presenting arguments, evidence, and witnesses during trial to contest the prosecution's case.
  • Appeals: If you are convicted, a defense lawyer can appeal the conviction or sentence, arguing errors in the trial process or legal rulings.

How Are Criminal Defense Lawyers Paid?

Criminal defense lawyers generally charge clients in one of three ways, depending on the complexity of the case and the lawyer’s experience. Payment structures include:

  • Flat fee: For straightforward cases (e.g., minor misdemeanors), some lawyers charge a one-time flat fee that covers all aspects of the defense.
  • Hourly rate: For more complex or ongoing cases, lawyers may charge by the hour, with rates varying based on the lawyer’s experience and geographic location.
  • Retainer fee: In cases where extensive work is expected, the client may pay a retainer fee upfront. The lawyer then bills against that retainer for their work on the case.

The cost of criminal defense services can vary greatly, so it’s important to discuss fees during your initial consultation.

How Much Does a Criminal Defense Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a criminal defense lawyer depends on several factors, including the severity of the charges, the complexity of the case, and the lawyer’s experience. General cost guidelines are:

  • Misdemeanor cases: For relatively minor offenses, such as a DUI or petty theft, a flat fee may range from $1,500 to $5,000.
  • Felony cases: More serious charges, such as assault or drug trafficking, can range from $10,000 to $100,000 or more, depending on the complexity and duration of the case.
  • Hourly rates: For cases billed by the hour, lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on their expertise and the case's location.
  • Additional expenses: You may also be responsible for other costs, such as filing fees, expert witness fees, or the cost of private investigators.

Be sure to clarify the lawyer’s fee structure and any potential additional costs during your consultation.

Top Questions to Ask a Criminal Defense Lawyer

Before hiring a criminal defense lawyer, you’ll want to ensure that they’re a good fit for your case. Here are key questions to ask:

  1. What is your experience with cases like mine?
Make sure the lawyer has a strong track record with the specific type of criminal charges you’re facing, whether it’s DUI, drug offenses, or violent crimes.
  2. What is your fee structure?
Ask how the lawyer charges for their services and whether you’ll be responsible for any additional costs.
  3. What are the potential outcomes of my case?
A good lawyer should provide an honest assessment of your case and the likelihood of dismissal, a plea bargain, or conviction.
  4. How many cases have you taken to trial?
While many criminal cases settle with a plea deal, it’s important to hire a lawyer with courtroom experience in case your case goes to trial.
  5. Who will handle my case?
Ask if the lawyer will be personally involved or if other attorneys in the firm will handle most of the work.
  6. How do you communicate with your clients?
Be clear on how often and through what channels you can expect updates on your case.

How to Check the Credibility of a Criminal Defense Lawyer

To verify the credibility of a criminal defense lawyer, take the following steps:

  • Check their standing with the state bar: Confirm that the lawyer is licensed and in good standing with your state’s bar association. Look for any past disciplinary actions or complaints.
  • Read online reviews and testimonials: Platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google can provide insights from previous clients about the lawyer’s communication, professionalism, and case outcomes.
  • Ask for references: A reputable lawyer should have past clients or other professionals who can speak to their competence and work ethic.
  • Review their case history: Look at the lawyer’s website or professional profile to see their experience with criminal cases, including high-profile or complex cases.
  • Look for trial experience: If your case might go to trial, make sure the lawyer has a strong history of courtroom advocacy and success.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your first consultation with a criminal defense lawyer, bring the following:

  • Details of your case: Be prepared to provide a detailed account of the charges against you, including any documents related to your arrest, police reports, and court dates.
  • Criminal history: If you have any prior criminal convictions, inform your lawyer so they can understand how that may affect your current case.
  • List of witnesses or evidence: If there are any potential witnesses or evidence that may support your defense, share this information during the consultation.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Prepare questions about their experience, legal strategy, and fees to ensure you understand how they will handle your case.
  • Bail or release documents: If you’ve been released on bail, bring any paperwork related to your release conditions or restrictions.

By being well-prepared, you can help your lawyer quickly assess your situation and begin building an effective defense strategy.
