Brandon Hellwig from Tom Anelli was impressive. The first few months I had so much anxiety, but each time I talked to Brandon my anxiety lessened. He guided me through the next steps I needed to take, regarding everything in my life that this case affected. He was honest about my options, what might be possible, and was clear that his honest professional opinion will only come after he reviewed all the evidence. My entire livelihood was on the line and everything that I worked hard for! Brandon listened to my concerns and worked diligently on my behalf. One day he called me with an offer that was the best offer and did not require further delay. When we arrived at our next court date, no one could believe what had just happened and I mean no one. I mean! everyone looked like what/how. So yes, I have earned the right to say, “Brandon is the Man,” and although I will never end up in another position where I will need Brandon, he is my go-to and if you want a good defense, he will hopefully your go to as well.
My initial consultation was warm, comforting, and welcoming. I did have an issue when I could not get Brandon on the phone right away, but Kaylee was awesome in delivering messages and listening to me vent, sorry Kaylee and I do appreciate you. I do, however, get why the system is set up in such a way. At the end of the day, he can work to get favorable outcomes if he is listening/talking to people like me all day with their anxiety at 150%. A bit pricey but worth your life and freedom.

Sometimes things happen in life and you need immediate help and guidance. Sometimes this need occurs at 4:00am in the early morning. We were beyond lucky that Tom Jackson personally answered the phone at that time. Not only was Tom understanding, comforting and reassuring, he jumped into action and was there to represent us in court at 8:00am. From that moment on, Tom was always available and either answered texts or calls almost immediately. Tom's knowledge of the Broome County legal system is unmatched. He knows the players and most importantly, knows how navigate the system. Tom kept us in the loop of every meeting, hearing or conference that was happening. In Aug 2021 I was charged with a DWI and failure to keep right after falling asleep and hitting a tee. I only blew a .05, I wasn't driving while intoxicated I was driving while exhausted. I hired Tom to defend me and he got the DWI completely dropped due to lack of evidence and I pled guilty to the failure to keep right. This was huge because I have a CDL and my insurance company would have made me pay back the medical bills which I'm sure were enormous because I had surgery and spent 9 days in the hospital. Tom was also 1/3 of the price of another lawyer I called for the same exact service. I hope I never need him again but if I do he'll definitely have my business.

Mr jackson sat with me and listened to my side of the story, explained to me what he thought we should do and explained in detail, and over the course of the year, he followed through with everything he said he would. Joe Gerstenzang was the best decision I could have made for myself regarding my legal trouble. He is forthright, accountable, proficient, communicative, and creative with his interpretation of the law.
I had a second DWI approximately one year after my first, and was looking down the barrel of some harsh and seemingly endless penalties. Joe made me feel extremely confident and well represented throughout the process and in the courtroom. And he was able to achieve the results I was hoping for.
My first impression was that Joe was realistic and honest with me. We went over my case, which had been delayed for 10+ months due to covid court closures. Joe was honest with me about how he thought my case looked, and we made decisions from there. The decisions we made felt collaborative and I always felt like my voice was heard, and my story was understood.
Proceeding from there, Joe was able to negotiate a deal that I found extremely generous.
One thing that really stood out to me:
Due to covid court closures where I live, I was not able to drive for a very long time, as my case had remained stagnant while my license revocation remained in place. By the time the courts opened back up, I was not set to get my license back for a long time. The court did not want to recognize this closure time as time served of any suspension. This is where Joe got creative.
I don't exactly know how he did it, but Joe was able to get creative with his interpretation of law. He got me on the road again. Had I hired a lesser lawyer, I may have been Uber-bound for another 6-12 months.
Joe was always in communication with me, always willing to talk on the phone. He took things seriously. This told me that he understood how serious these matters were for me. Even as my case seemed like it was set to wrap itself up, Joe was in contact about little small details that I would have not thought about.
I cannot recommend Mr. Gerstenzang enough.
I have known people who have hired lesser lawyers for DWIs in NY, most likely to save a bit of money, and I've heard horror stories. Whatever amount you save on a cheap lawyer, you will end up paying more in the long run, both with your wallet, time, and your peace of mind.

After hiring a different lawyer in February 2018 that was diligently working on my case, we ended up pairing with John about 9months into the case. John was diligent, informative and took a real interest in my case. We spoke about my options and listened to my requests. John worked throughout the weekend before my probable cause hearing to find holes in the officers story. I was facing prison time as it would have been my 3rd DWI. After the hearing John was able to get my felonies reduced to one misdemeanor DWAI and a conditional discharge. I would highly recommend John to anyone as he takes a true interest and doesn’t just go through the motions.

John saved my life and my job! I have a habit of getting huge speeding tickets. I got yet another one and this was MAJOR! I was going to lose my license, my job, and I was going to have to pay hundreds and hundreds of dollars in driver responsibility fees along with the fires and surcharge on the ticket as well as all of the points on my license.
John and his staff were super polite and professional throughout the entire process. Any questions I had were immediately answered.
When we went to court, I was thinking my best case scenario was going to be 2 or 4 points and a huge fine. Somehow John got me a PARKING TICKET! 0 POINTS!!! First and foremost, the Magnell Office is a cut above the rest. They were not only cordial and attentive but displayed a strong sense of trust, integrity, and reliability when taking on my case. Back in 2020, I got a speeding ticket for driving a 53 in a 30. As an out-of-state driver, I was unaware of New York's point system. Not to mention the fact that this was my first-time offense. Long story short, I would have gotten 6 pts; however, the Magnell Office brought it down to 0 pts and a fine for littering on the highway. I highly recommend this law firm. If I could, I would give them a 6 out of 5.

We were traveling for Thanksgiving from Michigan to Syracuse by way of Niagara Falls. On a side road outside of Buffalo, with a ridiculously low speed limit, we were issued a speeding ticket. The only way to defend ourselves was to appear in person, in January. Not happening. Fortunately we found Mike online. He replied to us directly and quickly, and was very personable and professional. We hired him and he made the infraction go away. We'd rather have defended ourselves, but given the logistics we can't imagine a better resolution. We highly recommend and sincerely appreciate this gent.

Karl did everything he could for me from the minutes I've seen him. He found out how serious my situation was and was able to assure me of my options. His analyst was super accurate and he helped me with all of the supplement situations I had surrounding my incident. Even the ones that didn't involve him! We all make bad decisions in our lives sometimes those decisions can cause us to have serious consequences. My consequence of driving in a vehicle that had two fully automatic weapons resulted in me being charged with two C felonies and 1 D Felony. I was additionally charged with two more felonies because I was in possession of two fake $50 bills that were given to me by the men who brought the weapons into my car. Even though the weapons were not mine I was still charged with them. To make matters worse the men wanted me to take responsibility for the crime or my family would be harmed. I didn't want my family to be endangered so at my arraignment I yelled out I I take full responsibility of the crime to the judge. When I was bailed out of jail my mother and I we're overwhelmed with worry they had offered me four years in prison for a crime did I did not commit. We didn't know who to turn to or where to go for help. But then my mother remembered the name William Ezersky an attorney who was recommended by my bail bondsman. When I first met Mr Ezersky and explain to him my situation he told me that in the 40 years he has never had a case where a defendant blatantly confessed to the crime. At the end of the consultation Mr Ezersky said that he couldn't think of a way to help me and that he was sorry, I nearly got sick in his office. But then a few days later Mr Ezersky called me and said he told the district attorney of my case the circumstances of my situation. Mr Ezersky , me and the district attorney had a conference together and at the end of the conference the district attorney said I don't know if I can help you. I was devastated because I thought now I was absolutely going to prison. But Mr Ezersky was relentless with trying to get my charges dropped. He was persistent and always kept me calm about the situation by saying that I am in good hands and that he is fighting for the best deal possible. In the end Mr Ezersky had achieved that by convincing the prosecutor that I was not involved in this crime by any means. There's no words to Express how thankful I am for what he did for me and my husband. It's been over 8 months since my husband was released from ice custody. My then fiance was taken by ice custody on April of 2018 he had DUI's. We had a lawyer who was recommended to us who which didn't put any effort to get him out. That lawyer went for a straight voluntary departure. We weren't happy with that so we then met Nestor Diaz who I felt put his heart to our case.
