I received a speeding ticket ( while coming from Seatac to Seattle on i-5 ) for first time in WA few months back. I contacted Stephanie and she made the whole experience seamless and very easy. She was very professional and nice when I spoke to her for the first time. I sent a scan copy of my ticket and rest everything was taken care by Stephanie. She basically took care of my ticket start to end and I never had to worry about it.
She got my ticket dismissed to non-moving violation.

Generally when one is seeking an attorney, it's not because they are looking for a conversation or a new friend, there are extenuating circumstances that have taken place in one's life and an expert is needed to help defend or represent that individual. I have had this happen to me and I was very concerned and honestly worried about what could and may have happened to me. I found Stephanie, explained my circumstances to her and she did a phenomenal job in advising me, comforting me and ensuring I was aware the whole time of what was taking place with my case throughout my legal ordeals. Every time I had a question or concern she would get back to me ASAP, never leaving me wondering if she got my message or if she just didn't care. Stephanie knows her way around a court room, a judge, a jury and most of all, the prosecution.
I hands down recommend Stephanie as she will make one's life a little less stressful in an already stressful situation, she did for me.

As happens sometimes I got myself into a situation in which I needed legal assistance. At first I was confused and scared as I had no idea where all of this would lead. I was very lucky that I found Brandon and that he was willing to take my case. Upon first meeting with Brandon I was immediately put at ease by his knowledge and overall attitude that he was more like a friend who will help you then a stuffy lawyer that is more annoyed to be bothered by your situation. Tony Swartz was my second attorney, and I was referred to him after 1.5 months of my terrible experiences with my first attorney. Working with him on my case, I strongly recommend him for your case defense for the following reasons.
1. Competent and knowledgeable
This is the most important thing that you should be looking for when hiring an attorney, and Tony offers the assets.Tony is a competent and knowledgeable attorney. During my deposition hearing, he made sharp and strong arguments and easily convinced the Judge to subpoena the accuser who had refused to continue to cooperate. All of my friends present at the hearing was very impressed how sharp and competent Tony was as a defendant attorney. His approach definitely comes from his competence and experiences with trials. He has been to more than 60 trials, and he understand how jurors perceive cases. I could see he is a very experienced and skilled attorney. He is also very sharp and come up with ways to discuss the case. When I send him materials that I have found with regards to my case, he would explain what the material could mean and how it could be used as evidence. He thoroughly explained how the jurisdictional processes work. Because he had served as a former prosecutor at the Kittitas court for a long time before he became a criminal defense lawyer. Because of that he also has good understandings of the court system and prosecutors.
2. Complete work promptly
Getting the work done in a timely manner is extremely important not only for your case to be resolved quickly so you can get back to your normal life soon but also for your mental health. My first attorney never got the work done, and it caused me lots of stress because I wasn’t sure when she would be able to talk to the prosecutor about my case if she hadn’t collected any evidence such as police report, public records and so on. When I hired Tony, he immediately requested all of the materials and started to collect evidence. He obtained all of the materials that had never been collected by my previous attorney for almost two months within a week since I hired him. Also, as the trial date was getting close, Tony paid more attention to me and sometimes he would respond on weekends. This really assured me that I had a very supportive attorney who focused on my case.
3. Effective communicator
Tony communicates with you in a timely and kind manner. When you are defending your case against the charge, you don’t want an attorney who never communicates with you. If your attorney never tells you what she has done, or never provides an answer, the whole process becomes even more stressful. Tony mostly responds in 24 business hours, sometimes even on weekends!
4. Organized work styles
He is also very organized. He has a personal portal website where he uploads documents that are related to your case and remind you of the court dates. His work is transparent, and you have access to all of the relevant documents on the website. You are constantly kept updated the work he is doing, and where the work has progressed, and what he has done.
All in all, Tony is an awesome attorney to work with. Some lawyers take too many cases, and they don’t care about your case after you sign a contract. Tony doesn’t do that. Tony wants to focus on his clients’ cases and works hard for them. You need that kind of lawyer. As soon as I hired Tony, I was very assured that I would have someone who will work on my case very hard. He immediately gained my full trust and validated it for the entire time. If you are looking for legal help to defend your case, he is your guy.

I first contacted Ms. Havens after being charged with a violation on a deferred prosecution agreement in 2014. The agreement had been set up by a previous attorney in the summer of 2012, and due to the new charge, he no longer wanted to work with me. After explaining my situation through tears on the phone to Ms. Havens, she asked why my case had not been referred to King County District Court Mental Health Court (KCDC MHC).
It was the first time that I had even heard of the institution, and after a quick Google search, I began to wonder the same thing. I had been diagnosed with an axis 1 mental health disorder in March 2012, and it was the reason that my case was previously granted a deferred prosecution. However, there was no structure to hold me accountable for my own actions besides the occasional probation meeting.
After a consultation at her office in Seattle, my family and I hired Ms. Havens to represent me. She was successful in having the new charge referred to KCDC MHC, where it remained in probation and monitoring until the case was closed in 2017. There were a lot of ups and downs in the case, and Ms. Havens remained on the entire time.
I cannot recommend Ms. Havens enough for anyone seeking criminal defense help. She works tirelessly, and is a fierce advocate for her clients. From the moment she came on board, she made things clear: she would help me, as long as I was willing to help myself.
Ms. Havens made it very clear that this would be my final chance to make things right and really pushed me to be honest in seeking help through psychiatry and therapy. In advocating for me to be a part of the Mental Health Court structure (which was not easy, given the reservations of the other parties involved, and yet she still worked to get me the opportunity), I was given the chance to learn about what true accountability means. The MHC required me to take a rigorous domestic violence intervention program based on my probation officer’s recommendation, to which I was resistant. However, Ms. Havens advocates that people go into situations with open minds and willing to learn. I feel that I matured greatly in my time working with Ms. Havens and really learned from her, and the tools she advocated that I have.
In short, Ms. Havens is highly empathetic, yet provides tough course correcting guidance to her clients. She is intelligent, eloquent, and advocates for people as if they were one of her own. Anyone in a sorry situation would be lucky to have her as their legal defense. I know I was.

I've worked with him a few times when I was involved in car accidents - one of which was a hit and run from a drunk driver. He made sure I got a fair settlement and all of the medical I needed. After I was falsely accused of a crime and was assigned ineffective assistance of counsel, Patrick appeared from out of the blue, took my case, and got the charges dismissed.

Even if charges brought against you for alleged violations of the law are hyperbolic, wildly mischaracterized, bloated, or even objectively false, this may be the scariest event of your life. Even if you know what you did, what you certainly did not do, and know your actions and decisions were wrought from moments of weakness with the best of intentions, this may be the scariest event of your life. Your freedom, your livelihood, reputation, future, friends, and even family can all be at stake. This can be a torrent of physical, mental, and existential crises. Mr. Melton can help guide you.
The law is written to protect our society and way of life. Punishment should be dealt out in accordance with the degree of violation of socially accepted norms; this is the basic tenant of a just system of law, our system of law. In poor judgement, I hunted deer without a license not thinking that I was going to even see a buck. I did in fact see a buck, decided to take the shot, and killed it. I have never seen a game warden in my lifetime, and as bad luck would have it, as I was dragging the deer towards my truck, a game warden drove up. Busted.
The game warden wrote up the citations, but did not specifically call them out, but instead would allow the prosecuting attorney to decide how to cite them. In aggregate, they could have put me in jail for 365 days, up to a $10,000 fine, and a gross misdemeanor on my record.
I contacted Mr. Melton and he immediately he claimed that hunting infractions were his expertise, that I shouldn’t be worried, and that he would get a reduced sentence. He was very kind and friendly, knew the law, and knew the hunting industry.
Instead of waiting for the prosecuting attorney to charge me with the four citations and then negotiate the charges down, Mr. Melton proactively negotiated with the prosecuting attorney before he formally filed charges against me, resulting in me being charged with only one of four counts, a gross misdemeanor for illegal hunting of big game. No jail time. Two years hunting probation. Fine of $2500.
Before the trial, Mr. Melton advised his approach on his strategy. He would indirectly try and get the judge to defer the sentence once my probationary time had been served. The challenge was that Mr. Melton could not overtly ask the judge for it because there was already an agreement in place with the prosecuting attorney and the prosecuting attorney could revoke the agreement.
At the trial, the judge accepted the prosecuting attorney’s charges. I was granted an opportunity to state anything I wanted to say. I acknowledged that I made a serious mistake in judgement, was a professional, no prior criminal history, father, and in good standing in the community. I asked that given my circumstances, that judge would consider derring my sentence once my probationary period was up. He grated that. Without the coaching by Mr. Melton, I would have no known that was even an option or something I could ask for at the time of trial.
In the end, I was very fortunate at the outcome. After two years of probation, the sentence will be dropped and the only consequence for me is a hard lesson learned, two years probation from hunting, and a fine of $2500. It could have been a lot worse.
I am very grateful for the legal acumen of Mr. Melton, his network within the hunting industry, and his tenacity, strategy, insight, and friendliness.

Issue: I was charged with a DUI by the state of Washington. I originally paid a substantial sum of money to another competing law firm (intentionally unnamed) who charged me their premium rate and assigned me their most inexperienced lawyer. After four months I decided to cut my losses and find a better lawyer to trust my case to. If you are reading this, you are fully aware of how referring to your life as "a case" or "situation" doesn't do bear the weight of its true significance, given the amount of external effects teetering on the outcome of proceedings. We all want to have the best, and when paying large sums of money, we certainly deserve it. That being said, I was referred to Mr. Lousteau by a friend after leaving the aforementioned firm. Mr. Lousteau was referred to me as an "experienced trail lawyer".
Discussion: Mr. Lousteau took my case on short notice and was consistent, professional, and very straight forward. Mr. Lousteau's diligence and courtroom expertise showed in every interaction including face to face consults, over the phone, pretrial hearings and most importantly at trail. Mr. Lousteau’s experience in the courtroom is confidence inspiring and reassuring that you have chosen well to entrust your situation with a professional attorney who has made you and your case a priority.

When I got in trouble I was young and scared. I was not legal yet and my parents made me figure out what I was going to do all on my own. After shopping around for many weeks in the Tacoma area, meeting with 12-15 different lawyers. Bill from the jump stood out to me.
