Derek is smart and aggressive. James is calculated and calm, which gives their firm an almost perfect balance. Danely is very polite and communicative. There wasn’t one time that I reached out and didn’t get a reply or an answer.
Derek is transparent and communicates efficiently. He really cares about his clients and who he represents. Although I didn’t get the exact results I wanted (based on a decision I made) I feel that we still got a pretty good offer from the prosecutor (charges will eventually be dismissed) and I’m very happy with their service.
The only negative thing I can share is that it took way too long to come to a conclusion IMO and communication with the court/prosecutor seemed very “wishy washy” at times, but thats typical when dealing with “the system”
If you need a criminal defense attorney in South King County or Pierce County I would highly recommend Smith and White! They are worth the investment!

I was really happy with the work Bita did as my attorney. She was very responsive, answered calls and emails promptly, gave me great advice and helped me to navigate an extremely stressful episode in my life. The law and courts are very intimidating. Rob was not only excellent in the “lawyer” portion of his job, he treated us with dignity and respect. Laura helped ease our worries by answering lots of questions regarding modifying an existing parenting plan with a resistant ex spouse, how to act in accordance with what is best for the child, and how to protect ourselves legally for the foreseeable future from all legal obligations and risk. So, I have been fb friends or followed Mr Russell for a couple years now & knew when I was ready for bankruptcy he would be the first place I went. He offers a free consultation, & during mine he was so nice & straight forward, explaining everything to me in a way I could understand but did not make me feel dumb lol. I was nervous & left out a pretty big detail (the amount of my debt) & said it was wayyy less than it was (I actually only said the amount of one of my debts) & he told me it would cost more to pay him than for me to pay that debt, & I was like ok & said the total of all my debt, & he looks at me & laughs & was like wait, that's all your debt & not this? Well, that is a different story.. We both laughed at my blonde moment & I knew right there he was my kinda guy haha.. I retained him that day & we got to work, everyone in the office I had any interaction with was great! Shout out to Brandin, super cool & made me feel comfortable & welcome every time I came in. I wish I had called Mr. Burke first because he made all of my worries vanish within minutes and pointed out issues that I couldn't see, even with my training and experience. Although my struggles are not over yet, Katherine got me out of one of the hardest possitions I ever dreamed of finding myself in.
She not only edgucated me on the Law but pulled me out of a corner I put myself in. Without her legal Aid, my voice would have never been properly heard.
I paid another lawyer twice what I paid Katherine just to jepurdise my case.
Let me just say without this Law Firm I may have never had the glimps of hope, I have for my child now. Thank you Katherine!!!

I had an emergancy, where my childs mother wanted to send a stranger out of no where, across states to transport our child... I sent madaline a Email as I was panicking. Wondering if I had to actually hand my child over to a stranger. She quickly got back to me at night time and said. No, you do not have to give your child to a stranger. Unless the BM is there.
I could not know where I would be without these 2, but if I had to guess. Without their quick thinking and fast preparation. Probably in a way worse place then I am now.

Tresa and her team are extremely knowledgeable, very responsive and have won for me every time in court. I first retained Tresa in 2021 and my ex has taken me to court at least 1-2 times per year since. Tresa won a contempt case against the mother, but more notably Tresa won a full trial to prevent child relocation. WA state relocation law favors the parent with more residential time and in my case that is the mother. I have a typical EOW and mid-week visit parenting plan. However, Tresa successfully won a full trial and prevented my ex from moving out of state with our child. Other attorneys told me I had a 10% chance to win just due to the law. Nonetheless, Tresa fought hard for me. She is absolutely fantastic and puts your wishes first. She’s extremely knowledgeable about family law and I would recommend her to anyone!

After interviewing a number of lawyers for my divorce I chose Jason for his directness and honesty about the situation.
Throughout the divorce process, the opposing attorneys tried to introduce external issues irrelevant to the divorce in an effort to prejudice the court against me. Jason made sure only relevant issues were considered, and we came out ahead every time
Jason worked hard to get an equitable settlement, working with the mediator to toss out ridiculous requests from the opposing party, and come to a reasonable agreement.
I always felt Jason had my best interests in every discussion with the opposition, and set my expectations appropriately even if the outcome might not be favorable to me.
