DeCurtins law office is the best defense law firm in charlotte, NC if you ask me. When I spoke with Mr. Brandon DeCurtin about my case he was professional, respectful and compassionate. Despite begging for help due to some shady business practices with EXP Realty, they refused to help me. They get super upset when you record conversations, too. I would be nervous to have this group representing me, at least not when selling a house. Not only do they seem to do a sloppy job, but they don’t seem knowledgeable - and no one wants that when you are dealing with large amounts of money.
I originally did choose them to represent us for the sale of my home because they are covered under my legal plan. When I called, I made sure to confirm they would be covered. They confirmed. Well, after turning down the attorney our realtor referred us to, we decided to start the process with them.
First, the person who I started working with is a paralegal and not an attorney. That didn’t bother me bc I figure it would be like that in any other law office… but she started asking questions that made me question her competence. She kept asking my realtors for the closing date, which was directly written on the sales contract. Apparently, she just wanted to see if the closing attorney had scheduled it yet… but the sale process had only just began, it was strange that she would already ask for that.
While all that is going on, we get a sheet with some fees we had questions about. Turns out, our paralegal was out for half a week, so I called the main office. They had no idea what fees I would be charged. I was not given to someone who could handle any questions or issues while the paralegal was out, I was just told ‘who knows.’ You would think you would have someone cover for you while you are out in case your clients have any questions or to move things along. Not Soto Law.
The straw that broke the camel’s back for me was when the paralegal was finally in the office, she sent a group message saying we are not covered under my plan because it isn’t my primary residence - 2 weeks into hiring them. That is not acceptable. They have you send them your benefit number and sale contract before assigning you to a paralegal, so there is no excuse for not checking benefits at that time.
As it turns out, without asking us to confirm, they assumed that the property we are selling is an investment property bc we marked that it is not our primary residence. In actuality, we had to move before it was under contract so it was never a rental propert, it was just our previous primary residence. And bc my legal plan doesn’t cover rental properties, they said we were not covered.
By that point, I didn’t care that we were eligible for benefits, we decided working with this group would be much too risky and decided to go with attorney my realtor suggested. If they aren’t even aware that a second property doesn’t automatically mean it’s an investment property, or organized enough to verify benefits in a timely manner, I don’t have have much confidence something wouldn’t go terribly askew on one of the biggest sales in a person’s life.

We just closed on our first home with Soto Law and absolutely could not be happier with the experience. We ran into several hiccups and communications with our lending team. Emily Watson, the paralegal assigned to our closing honestly kept the whole thing together. She kept the process moving forward even when it appeared to be stalled. I highly recommend staying away from this firm and Trent Grissom. He was told to file a simple insurance claim 4 times. None of which did. He was fired. I posted a negative review on Google and he threatened to *sue me for defamation* really Trent?? Is this the type of attorney you would use??? I would recommend reading other website reviews which are poor. They will charge you for every small email even when it is unsolicited.

Pues resulta que no es así me cobraron más de $3000 dólares por llenar una forma y enviarla a USCIS, eso fue al rededor de 2 años atrás y pues ellos me enviaron una extensión a mi caso que está en revisión, y resulta que el día de hoy llamo a la oficina de abogados que supuestamente me representa para que me den una actualización sobre mi caso ya que dicha extensión ya expiró y por ende ellos debían estar pendiente de eso pero no, la respuesta de la persona que atendió mi llamada me dice que el caso con esta oficina ya estaba cerrado que iban averiguar que había pasado con eso y me devolverían la llamada, entonces queda uno con un sinsabor de que todo lo que dicen que van hacer pues a la final queda ahí plasmado de momento porque después de que te cobran para representarte y recibir un apoyo de una firma de abogados se convierte en que solo lo hacen por quitarte tu dinero que tanto cuesta obtenerlo en este país para que te digan después de 2 años su caso está cerrado sin Investigar primero antes de cerrar un caso de un cliente que pagó más de 3000 dólares por nada, se deberían tomar al menos el tiempo de eso de actualizarse en los casos que ellos toman, pero lamentablemente no es así solo buscan es el beneficio de ellos y no de los clientes. No deberían jugar con eso!!!

I hired Danielle just over five years ago. When I met with Danielle, I just knew she was the absolute best fit for me. There is a very simple reason why Danielle is so well-liked: she is a talented and outstanding attorney who works for her clients as if they were her personal friend or family member. I had the good fortune to find her in my search for new representation after a serious child custody crisis. I had to resolve financial things, but those were a piece of cake in comparison to the issues with my daughter. I still remember the first time I met Danielle because her knowledge, professionalism, honesty and genuine demeanor was strikingly different from the attorney I had worked with and the experiences I had had. She skillfully brought calm to a very emotional and chaotic situation. My ex was toxic and terrible for my daughter who had very specific and special needs. Danielle had the right energy and compassion to understand what I needed, what my daughter needed, and the grit to help us get there. Danielle worked steadfastly for me. Almost 2 years ago today I made the very difficult decision to end my 2 decades of marriage after my "I do" became an "I don't".
