I had contacted dozens of lawyers to help me with my (contested adoption) case, they all had turned me down until I found Ryan Kuhn. From the very beginning you could tell Ryan and his assistant Jen are both very passionate and knowledgeable about what they do. One of the experts in our case said to me, "you either find a good lawyer who is a bad person, or a bad lawyer who is a good person, Ryan is the rare exception in that he is both." This is sooo true. He knew what was at stake and fought tooth and nail for my little family, working day and night for us. Words cannot explain how grateful I am to him and Jen for all they did for me. Without them I don't know where I would be, I truly believed finding them saved my life. He takes the cases that no one else will, and wins them. I would recommend him to anyone and everyone!!! Ryan and his assistant, Jen, were very understanding and compassionate but yet professional and reasonable as they helped me file for divorce from my husband of 30 plus years. One of the first things Ryan said to me was… “ I am more expensive than a counselor, so if you want to chat about things not directly pertaining to the case, I will steer you back on track….but I recommend it is healthy to go seek out a counselor to help you emotionally get through the divorce.” Right from the start he was very conscious of a budget and kept things moving that were important to the case. He reminded me that somethings could cost more in attorney fees than were worth proving. Where I wanted to achieve something based on the principle of it, he steered me back to the cost that would be sacrificed to get it.
The divorce was complicated by the fact that I had put my career on hold to be a stay-home-mom to several children, allowing my husband to advance his career with the federal government and have all the perks related to early retirement eligibility, federal employee health benefits (FEHB), a government pension and a generous government matching Thrift Savings Plan (TSP). Although I had the same college degrees, education level, previous federal employment, and had recently picked up non-federal employment, I did not have the number of years to be eligible similar benefits. I counted on Ryan to weed through the confusing government rules and regulations pertaining to government “Spouse Equity,” “Survivor Spouse Annuity,” and “Federal Employees Health Benefits.” When my husband was adamant that he did not want to provide for the Survivor Spouse Annuity, Ryan was able to appeal to him and his attorney to have it provided because of the long marriage. Whatever Ryan did not know, he found out. He also has access to professional paralegals (at rates less than his) who are experts at dividing government retirement and TSP accounts based on individual cases. Ryan leveraged their information and guidance in preparing the court orders for the retirement division and the TSP division. Ryan is highly knowledgeable of the government retirement-type issues and an expert in the preparation of court orders specific to government retirement plans.
Although there were no longer any minor children, my case was further complicated by many other things, to include stock being held for an elderly parent with the intention that it would be returned to her if needed for her health care, multiple bank accounts, brokerage accounts, credit cards, student loans for a couple children, pages of personal belongings, hotel points, airline points, hidden cash, hidden trips, hidden debt, an adult child still in college-tuition, a house mortgage, a timeshare, multiple cars, some of which belonged to children, a dog, healthcare, dental and vision for adult children under the age 26, and the desire to be able to obtain federal healthcare when needed for myself.
One of the best ways to describe Ryan is that he has the mind of a chess player. He was always thinking one move ahead, and the topic of alimony comes to mind here (pros and cons)…. You’ll have to ask him.
Did the divorce cost more than expected? … Absolutely! But I am the reason for this. I can be wordy (this is probably the longest review on his page) and my emails long, but Ryan patiently answered every question, reminding me along the way to trust him, and that my wordiness and multiple questions would cost me more. I did not care because he was providing me with information which gave me peace of mind. He also obtained something that three other attorneys told me could not be done (ask him!). He is excellent, worth every penny.
Lastly, it is not in my nature to write reviews. I have made this one exception because Ryan and his assistant, Jen, deserve kudos for a job well done. A sincere Thank You Ryan for accomplishing the near impossible. May your practice thrive!

My divorce was just final almost a year ago. It was a difficult situation with our business involved. Denise ALWAYS looked out for me. I would get intimidated - just plain scared - and she would "talk me off the cliff"! This happened many times. She was always available - even at night and on weekends. I don't want to think about what my situation would be had I not hired Denise! She would often say to me: "I'm not your mother" but this is what I advise. There were many difficult decisions to be made and I learned that "leaning" on her was my best option. She truly cared about me and my health. She wanted me to be happy. Larry was a godsend. He helped my wife take care of a false claim that she owed an ancient debt. He let us know what he'd need from us and then he took quick and direct action against the claimant who was representing the so-called creditor. The representation received from Mr Hayman was impressive to say the least. I had to appear in court and we had to file a continuance, but I never had to worry about a thing. I had a very disappointing experience with Yazdani Law, LLC, Columbus, OH. Despite paying for their services in full, they mishandled my case by submitting incorrect documentation, leading to delays and unnecessary stress during the visa process. To make matters worse, they demanded extra money beyond the agreed-upon contract amount, claiming it was for unforeseen circumstances—issues that should have been anticipated with proper diligence.
Their lack of accountability and professionalism was evident throughout. They acted as if they were providing a free service, despite the significant fees I paid. Instead of acknowledging their errors, they attempted to mask their mistakes by blaming and suppressing.
I do not recommend this lawyer or firm to anyone seeking reliable immigration assistance.

I cannot say enough great things about Kia and the incredible work she has done for me and my children. From the moment she took on my case, she was relentless in ensuring that every detail was handled with precision and care. I consulted with Doug mid-court action. While I have no complaint about my previous attorney, I really appreciated Doug's ability to explain the issues at hand. It was so refreshing, comforting and he definitely went beyond my expectations in terms of effort. The court action I was involved in was stressful several unexpected roadblocks to winning. While he wasn't magic and couldn't erase those, he did provide a great analysis of their weaknesses so I was able to get a decent settlement. He would definitely be my first choice if I ever need future representation!

Doug helped me through a divorce. I had always heard that they can be messy and expensive. He and his staff made it pretty painless, fast and it did not cost me a bundle. He is extremely knowledgeable, doesn't sugarcoat anything and is very open, honest and diligent. Parking at his office is not a problem, which is rare in Columbus. It would be difficult to choose the most distressing aspect of Julia Leveridge’s counsel. She procrastinated in completing important work, and multiple times did not return phone calls or emails in a timely manner. She did not take responsibility for errors and then procrastinated remediation.
Ms Leveridge counseled me to pay my ex’s share of our county property tax and said she would get that money back ($950). She did not.
She failed to complete an agreed entry for my ex to move out at the end of January. Then the paperwork for child support went to FCCS with an incorrect date. I paid 2 extra months child support ($1300) to get them off my back. Julia Leveridge said she would take care of it and did not. Then she procrastinated and did not file an agreed entry to fix this, for more than a year!
By that time my ex refused to sign it and FCCS seized part of my stimulus check ($850), and both my federal and state tax refunds ($3500).
That’s more than $6000 that I lost beyond the $45,000 I paid for her representation. When we got to court, this nightmare got worse quickly. Opposing counsel submitted an offer containing a fraudulent appraisal that substantially increased what I would pay my ex. Julia Leveridge’s professional counsel was to make a hasty, high pressure decision to settle, without access to time, tools or resources to evaluate that decision. I gave in to her pressure.
I’m still upset, and sorry I chose Julia Leveridge and Kemp, Shaeffer and Rowe.

Jeff is a wonderful attorney. We were in a situation where due to false accusations we were facing the possibility of loosing our children and/or dealing with the possibility of criminal charges. I came to Jeff to figure out and clean up a custody mess that I was involved in. Jeff worked through over a year's worth of junk in a timely and professional way then delivered a workable solution. Along the way he counseled me and really took the time to listen to my concerns while also answering a lot of my previously unanswered questions that I had accrued throughout my custody action. In the end Jeff helped me understand the system better. Ultimately Jeff helped me change my mindset so that I was able to move forward with the process for my daughter's sake. For my divorce case, I chose the Friedman and Mirman firm on the recommendation of the Dean of the law school at Ohio State because I feared my controlling partner might be so difficult that I would need to be prepared to go to trial.
Heather represented me masterfully for nearly two years in what became a protracted and high-conflict divorce case. Marcus Van Wey represented me in a domestic violence and assault charge plus four other charges. He was so wonderful with me and he kept in touch with me every time court was continued. I suffered trauma after an auto accident (hit hard from behind), which caused severe trauma to neck and to my thinking. I had difficulty performing my job in the banking, and also in the insurance industries (shortly after that has ladted more than two years), and felt the need to resign (after being bullied by management, trainers, and fellow staff), because of being the "slow kid on the block," and the "weekest link" in the office. I was losing my memory and the fast funtion I had always had. Due to my medical problems, after resigning, I struggled with unemployment on and off for a few years. My finances became a chaos. I kept thinking, "This next job will work for me," but it never did. I struggled for nearly two years, with different office jobs and even MORE bullying.
Anyway, back to Ron...Ron was referred to me by CCCS of Columbus, as I was told by them that he has helped a lot of people in need of declaring bankruptcy. I never wanted to consider it, but he made it very simple for me to understand. I feel compared to other Attorneys, he is very fair in his pricing with tons of experience.
I can honestly say that I have never met a kinder attorney (only had two in my life). Ron is very down to earth, easy to talk with, and I feel that he took a sincere interest in my concerns, and my desire to get back up in my life. It may sound "mushy" to some, but I pray a lot, and I truly believe that "Attorney Ron," as I call him, was sent to me by God.
I was inundated with debt, and kept trying as hard as I could to get another office job, yet I struggled with my thinking and my neck each time, which made me look like an utter "Boob" every time (very frustrating, as I am actually a very brite person, intellectually).
Anyway, I finally found a lower stress job as a retail clerk for less than half of what I was earning in each office position, and sso had no choice really but to declair bankruptcy. Ron has never made me feel belittled, or judged in this, and that impresses me as I hear most Attorneys are "power hungry" jerks. Ron is NOT!

I hired John midway through my divorce because I was not pleased with my first lawyer. John was able to get up to speed quickly and jump in,right in the middle of negotiations. The dynamics in each divorce are different and John took the time to listen to my situation and focused on my needs. He helped me understand what to expect if the court were to decide our case vs. us coming to an agreement which helped me as I was asked to make decisions. He negotiated with the opposing council and was able to bring our divorce to a resolution much quicker than I anticipated. When the stress of the divorce was at its highest, John showed compassion but also re-focused my energy to the legal aspects needed to finalize the divorce. At the last minute when it looked like our deal was about to fall apart, John again worked effectively with opposing council to get over the last hurdle and move the case to resolution.
