Outstanding Trial Lawyer
After I was wrongly charged with a very serious crime I hired David Jones. David did explain to me the risks and benefits of going to trial. I chose to go to trial and David was behind me the entire time making sure I received a fair trial. David meticulously prepared for trial. David did phenomenal at trial. David didn't miss an objection and he was quick. By the end of the trial, the truth was revealed, and David and I beat that vicious, fabricating, exaggerating DA and a jury found me NOT guilty of all charges. During that stressful time in my life, David was a pleasure to work with. David was worth every penny.

They used to be Cantafio and Hammond. Their employment lawyer Christine Breen took my case, when I was at my lowest, just let go after years of workplace bullying, and recently retaliated against for whistleblowing, and contemplating suing my employer. She promised to help, but then was MIA and refused to return calls. Yet she charged $2000 doing work no one asked her to do, as I already signed a severance agreement not to sue. She never wrote a demand letter. Never did anything substantial, except wrote 2 emails. I had to tell her to cease and desist charging me. I had to bring this case to the bar association. She immediately called, yelling, you agreed to pay this amount. We negotiated, and she reduced it by a few hundred. I should've gone to the bar association and got her disbarred. When you are at your most vulnerable, you cannot trust these people.

We so much appreciate the personal help and attention our son's lawyer, Chris Corkadel, gave to him and to us as parents. As out of state residents, all three of us needed help in dealing with our son's past traffic violation in Colorado, which prevented him from overcoming the suspension of his driver's license in any state. This in turn obviously blocked avenues of work and income during a time when the pandemic made it crucial to find jobs. Chris' experience with the courts in Colorado, his dedication, his friendly and warm listening skills, all worked together to result in a new driver's license for our son, and because of that, our son has a new lease on life. If you want to win your case…look further. I hired Pete McGuire to handle my work comp injury case and it was a nightmare. He didn’t keep me up to date. For example, I took all my court documents to Mexico thinking I was having a virtual hearing when it was canceled. I had a good case, but hardly got anything back. He didn’t listen to me or what I wanted from the case. Terrible experience. Not very knowledgeable on work comp stuff.

First of all, I would like to state that I am somewhat familiar with lawyers. I have been in business 19 years and during the course of that time I have engaged many attorneys for mergers and acquisitions, financial counseling, legal disputes with the State of Texas, HR related matters, contract negotiations, and litigation. Having said that, I am not an expert nor a novice.
In19 years, I have never worked with a legal group that is more disorganized, incompetent, and ignorant of basic financials. What is apparent with this organization is they focus on the billing more than the service. I am not one to argue fees provided there is a demonstration of competence and integrity. Unfortunately, you will not find it with this firm
It would appear that the Dadvocates and Samera were once competent and respectable if you look at the reviews. However, I would encourage you to look at current reviews. Most are quite poor and this should discourage you from engaging with them.
I sincerely hope that this law firm considers these reviews b/c they have fallen from grace and should seriously contemplate dismissing Samera and her team.

James Cordes provided terrible advice. His drafting was sloppy and required extensive redrafting by opposing counsel, and he advised me to take a terrible deal. Because of James, I am taking home a fraction of my income. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize how bad it was until firing him and employing new counsel. He is a nice man, but a bad lawyer. I wish I had gotten a second opinion before it was too late.

James is a nice man. But he cost me 100s of thousands of dollars that I didn’t need to pay. I consulted with two additional attorneys, but it was too late and the damage was done. He also gave me bad advice about the likely outcome of a court case if we went to trial. The money out-of-pocket going to my ex wife was earmarked for my children in a trust. In short, she is taking my kids’ inheritance and James advised the outcome. James is minimally competent—he included items in the separation agreement that I did not okay, massive amounts of typos in court documents, and he advised that if I went to court I might have to pay lifetime maintenance (I later found out that the statutory period would have been 7.5 years, not 40+ years (if my ex-wife lived to be 80) as he suggested could be the outcome. James means well and seems like a nice guy, but he is a bad lawyer.

We hired Lester Nieves to represent a very complex criminal case. I completely trust him to represent who we hired him for. He definitely knows the law and your rights . I would recommend him above any other attorney including the ones that are way too high priced for our budget. Lester's fee to retain and represent are more than fair. Having no experience in this field at all, I was pretty terrified when I was shown to be at fault for a car accident. The entire team was excellent gave me a lot of information helped me to remain calm, and on the day of Katy in particular went way above and beyond the call of duty to help facilitate me reaching the courthouse on time. I was very impressed on every level with this operation.
Oh, and they significantly reduced the amount of trouble I was going to get into! Well worth the retainer.

Do not hire Patrick Fitzgerald. This has by far been the worst experience I have ever had. Mr Fitzgerald will make deals with the DA that you did not approve of and use your case against you to make you feel like less of a human being. He will criticize, curse and hang up on you if you question what he is doing and why he is making deals without your consent. Absolutely horrible!!

I can’t further express the gratitude that I have for this team. Nic and Sarah have both been so solid through out not only the duration of my court cases, but completely went above and beyond following my court dates to assist me the entire step of the journey through to the end date of my probation. Sarah continued to be there to answer my calls, emails, texts questions, everything from dmv questions, to probation questions, to out of state dmv questions. My case happend while on vacation so I was unable to attend court in person and Nic was above and beyond in getting our hearings heard as early as possible via zoom and was able to attain the best outcome that could have been possible thanks to the investigating he did into the case. Without this team I genuinely believe that this would have gone a lot differently and I would still probably be paying an unfair price. I highly recommend this firm to anyone in need that wants to get the best possible outcome in the court rooms. Jen helped me unravel a very sticky situation last year regarding custody and child support payments. I hired her again this year to assist in coming to a final resolution on unfair alimony payments. It's with great pleasure to recommend Trista for any complex Family Law matter. Her attention to detail, impeccable memory, and thorough skillset in the courtroom explains why it was apparent Judges respect and listen to her. Complex cases can be challenging when small details can make or break the outcome, and with Trista leading the strategy, I was fortunate to have a favorable outcome. I was happy with the outcome, while she was critical of herself wanting more in OUR case (she's in it for you and your family more than I've seen any other attorney invest in their families). I absolutely loved Trista and her paralegal Charlie!! They worked very hard, were very professional, yet completely down-to-earth. A divorce frazzles anyone, and to be lost in a sea of legal chaos where you have no idea what the hell is going on, is terrifying. Trista and Charlie completely took care of me like good friends. Divorce is not fun for anyone. It's particularly hard when people get unpleasant and can't cooperate with each other. This is why I love Terri's approach. She's very focused on an approach where conflict and nastiness are avoided in favor of collaboration and cooperation. I have felt like my needs were met as I have worked through this process - Terri has made herself available to me as I needed support or had questions. I've always walked away from our interactions with a clear understanding of what I needed to do to make sure I was taken care of while still maintaining that sense of collaboration. I'm grateful that I was referred to Terri and will continue to refer others to her.

Terri was recommend to me by a friend and she was very supported through the process of reviewing the premarital documents for my upcoming marriage. It was also in a short timeframe that we had to complete the documents. I am a retired women and she was able to explain the details and made me feel like I did come to the table with a stake in the relationship. I hired Colleen for a divorce, and during the initial consultation I was told everything I wanted to hear in order for her to get my retainer, then it all went downhill from there. I do not think it is ethical for attorneys to make false promises to clients, and have no accountability for poor performance. Colleen was never on time for a single appointment we arranged, and it was clear that she took on more cases than she could handle to maximize her revenue, even as it diminished the quality of her legal work. I would go into hearings having no idea what was going on, as there was inadequate or no preparation at all. In the end, I was coerced into a settlement agreement I did not want to sign, with Colleen complaining beforehand about collecting more attorneys fees, and her not wanting to do a full day hearing. You'd honestly be better off representing yourself.

My experience with Allen Vellone Wolf Helfrich & Factor has been beyond great. They dug into the issues of my case and discovered things in my favor that go far beyond what other defendants in the same case appear to have missed or not seriously considered. My opinions of Jim Helfrich and Kate Sender go beyond my ability to express. The best I can say is that I trust them to do their absolute best, which I believe they have done. No bullshit.
They haven’t always told me what I want to hear, but they have always considered my opinion and that has been reflected in the things they have produced on my behalf. My case is not over, but they believe in me and have taken my side with the best they have to offer. Their rates are fair, and I have never had the feeling they were fabricating hours as so many law firms do, especially the law firm that is attacking me. I suspect I will have more to add to this review in the future.
