4 months ago Mom was sent to a nursing home for rehab and then was transferred to long term care. We fought long and hard to get her out and bring her home. We were given excuse after excuse as to why she needed to stay there. Without Nicholas Khayumov and his team none of this would have been possible! My case was not in NY, but wanted to ask questions regarding a hypothetical situation where my divorce was moved to NY, since my ex has moved there. I called just to set-up a consultation, but Mr. Pollack ended up just helping me right there and then. He answered my questions thoroughly, gave me estimates on child support payments, and also gave me tips on the divorce in general. If I get the chance, I will definitely work with Mr. Pollack.

Sean O Hara has no business in law, came off nice, seemingly, except he contradicted himself several times. Claiming he never heard from the company, but knew where they sent my w-2…Did nothing for nine months and when I gave him crucial information he tried to get money, completely unaware that I had another attorney related to this case. His terrible work caused me to go through their employees and that’s a no for me dog, all white men. Fired and replaced. Don’t waste your time, not my first rodeo, but apparently his. Mind you the case was easy, pictures, text messages and he blew it, lazy, lazy, lazy. Easily the most important client you’ll ever have too.

I never considered writing a negative review until my experience with Van Horn & Friedman, P.C. (“VH&F”). However, I feel compelled to share my story. I retained Alissa to file a petition (for privacy reasons I will not disclose the type) and to represent me throughout the associated court proceedings. Immediately upon learning of the situation, Alissa could not understand why a petition had not previously been filed. When I explained to her that I was told by the local police department that the person was too old, she said that the police do not know the law—she does. Regrettably, I retained her services.
To my dismay, I soon learned that the local police department knew what they were talking about; Alissa did not. I believe that VH&F eventually found out shortly after Alissa was unable to file the petition. However, the only response I received when inquiring about the situation was “red tape” and “you have a judge that cares.” Not acceptable explanations coming from a firm you are paying $500.00 an hour to represent you, especially considering that the judge does not have the authority to circumvent the system. I asked at least three (3) times and always received the same responses. Laughably, I was asked by a managing partner at VH&F if I was an attorney. I am not, I just don’t enjoy being taken advantage of.
I believe that VH&F’s hourly rate is way overpriced. Moreover, their retainer agreement provides for billing in fifteen (15) minute increments. My bill ran up very quickly because of sending/receiving correspondence. The problem is that Alissa was recommending services I had already tried unsuccessfully and were not related to the petition. As such, I found myself paying VH&F to explain to them that their recommendations were not appropriate for my situation after previously providing that history to her.
My takeaway: Don’t expect to receive a good product just because a business charges more than their competitors and be wary of someone’s overconfidence!

Frustrating Experience with Suris and Associates
I rarely write negative reviews, but my experience with Suris and Associates has prompted me to share my concerns so that others can make informed decisions. After over a year of what I thought would be diligent representation for my case, the firm informed me that they would not be pursuing further actions. Their reasoning? They were unable to contact the insurance company.
For a law firm, one would expect a proactive approach, especially in a legal matter that can significantly impact someone’s life. Instead, I felt like my case was put on the back burner as I experienced frustrating delays and a serious lack of communication. Despite my repeated inquiries, there was a notable absence of the effort needed to seek justice.
It’s disheartening to anticipate some support in a challenging time only to find yourself poised on the sidelines. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Suris and Associates based on my dismal experience. I hope others have a more positive encounter, but my advice is to keep your options open and consider firms that exhibit the commitment and tenacity every client deserves.

Mario Vasquez is not helpful in desperate times of need. If seeking legal support or counsel you best search elsewhere. He is very unwilling to offer support and won’t even point you in the right direction outside of his firm. His response below said I called about a family member but I never did. I called because multiple Bronx community members expressed horrible experiences from seeking his legal support.

I can't recommend Gus Dimopoulos highly enough, he was a lifesaver during my divorce. Going through a divorce is undoubtedly one of the most challenging experiences one can face, but Gus made the process as smooth and manageable as possible. The financial issues in my case were extremely complicated as I own a complex business and there were significant 8-figure valuation issues to deal with. Complicating matters were disagreements with custody. Gus took the time to understand the concerns, and managed to balance the matter that was often charged with children’s issues against the level-headed approach to the financial aspects of the case.
He managed to bring about the settlement that I wanted by stepping foot in court only once. On the one occasion we did have to go to Court, Gus completely controlled the room and got me the result I needed on that particular issue.
