I’d like to take a few moments to say a few words about attorney, Alex Savickas. I felt I had no hope after receiving a court ruling that put my daughter in extreme danger. My ex was violent and accused of horrific crimes by multiple victims, including our daughter together, and was requesting long-distance (to FL from OH) visitation with my young daughter. The attorney I previously had butchered my case, leaving us with a detrimental ruling that forced my child into visitations with her dangerous father.
By the grace of God, someone recommended Alex. He immediately filed motions to appeal the order, and we were able to get safer visits established. It has been an ongoing battle for more than 3 years as my ex continues using the system to harass us, and Alex has stayed a few steps ahead the entire time, and every round gets us closer to keeping my little girl safer. He has been one of few throughout all of this to stand up and be our hero.

I met Alex through the Domestic Violence Network & YWCA. He has always being very profesional & he has always taking the time to hear the different stories & what the victims opinions. He has being able to give each victim the time that they need & answer any questions that they have even if they only speak Spanish. Recently my son got into some trouble and we needed a lawyer, I was frantic and didn’t know where to turn. I turned to one of my lawyer friend back home and asked if he could recommend a good lawyer in Athens, Ohio. My friend is one of the members of the Ohio Bar Association and I knew he could find the best lawyer possible in the area. That’s when I heard about George McCarthy and do I ever feel blessed for this referral. George was fantastic and helped us in every way possible! I don’t know what would have happened if we had any other Lawyer than George McCarthy.
If you’re like me and don’t know where to turn or who to go to all I can say is if you don’t go to George McCarthy you will be making a mistake!

George came recommended to us from a local attorney in another community. It was the best recommendation we could have hoped for. We have a child who attends OU. Let me just say I have had at least 10 attorneys for a multitude of matters. I know what it’s like for an attorney to just show up and charge hours but barely know your case. Attorney Nunez is exceptional she prepares exhibits to help create a successful outcome. She prepares and gets insight ahead of time and also a few days before hearings/trial and makes adequate time, so she is kept abreast to represent you fully. Did I mention her professionalism and poise? She worked on two cases for me and both ended up being success stories! All that I truly wish is their were more attorneys as passionate as her out there! I had contacted dozens of lawyers to help me with my (contested adoption) case, they all had turned me down until I found Ryan Kuhn. From the very beginning you could tell Ryan and his assistant Jen are both very passionate and knowledgeable about what they do. One of the experts in our case said to me, "you either find a good lawyer who is a bad person, or a bad lawyer who is a good person, Ryan is the rare exception in that he is both." This is sooo true. Ryan and his assistant, Jen, were very understanding and compassionate but yet professional and reasonable as they helped me file for divorce from my husband of 30 plus years. One of the first things Ryan said to me was… “ I am more expensive than a counselor, so if you want to chat about things not directly pertaining to the case, I will steer you back on track….but I recommend it is healthy to go seek out a counselor to help you emotionally get through the divorce.” Right from the start he was very conscious of a budget and kept things moving that were important to the case. He reminded me that somethings could cost more in attorney fees than were worth proving. Where I wanted to achieve something based on the principle of it, he steered me back to the cost that would be sacrificed to get it.
The divorce was complicated by the fact that I had put my career on hold to be a stay-home-mom to several children, allowing my husband to advance his career with the federal government and have all the perks related to early retirement eligibility, federal employee health benefits (FEHB), a government pension and a generous government matching Thrift Savings Plan (TSP). Although I had the same college degrees, education level, previous federal employment, and had recently picked up non-federal employment, I did not have the number of years to be eligible similar benefits. I counted on Ryan to weed through the confusing government rules and regulations pertaining to government “Spouse Equity,” “Survivor Spouse Annuity,” and “Federal Employees Health Benefits.” When my husband was adamant that he did not want to provide for the Survivor Spouse Annuity, Ryan was able to appeal to him and his attorney to have it provided because of the long marriage. Whatever Ryan did not know, he found out. He also has access to professional paralegals (at rates less than his) who are experts at dividing government retirement and TSP accounts based on individual cases. Ryan leveraged their information and guidance in preparing the court orders for the retirement division and the TSP division. Ryan is highly knowledgeable of the government retirement-type issues and an expert in the preparation of court orders specific to government retirement plans.
Although there were no longer any minor children, my case was further complicated by many other things, to include stock being held for an elderly parent with the intention that it would be returned to her if needed for her health care, multiple bank accounts, brokerage accounts, credit cards, student loans for a couple children, pages of personal belongings, hotel points, airline points, hidden cash, hidden trips, hidden debt, an adult child still in college-tuition, a house mortgage, a timeshare, multiple cars, some of which belonged to children, a dog, healthcare, dental and vision for adult children under the age 26, and the desire to be able to obtain federal healthcare when needed for myself.
One of the best ways to describe Ryan is that he has the mind of a chess player. He was always thinking one move ahead, and the topic of alimony comes to mind here (pros and cons)…. You’ll have to ask him.
Did the divorce cost more than expected? … Absolutely! But I am the reason for this. I can be wordy (this is probably the longest review on his page) and my emails long, but Ryan patiently answered every question, reminding me along the way to trust him, and that my wordiness and multiple questions would cost me more. I did not care because he was providing me with information which gave me peace of mind. He also obtained something that three other attorneys told me could not be done (ask him!). He is excellent, worth every penny.
Lastly, it is not in my nature to write reviews. I have made this one exception because Ryan and his assistant, Jen, deserve kudos for a job well done. A sincere Thank You Ryan for accomplishing the near impossible. May your practice thrive!

I had hired him for my son's case. He had answered all my calls and responded in a timely fashion. He explained in detail what we can do with my son's case. Throughout the case he fought to get the best outcome for my son. He went above and beyond and this I am truly appreciative to him. Mr. Perotti is a good man and a great lawyer. He is trustworthy, he is someone you can believe in and he's honorable. Because of these reasons and many more. I recently hired Roger to help me revise my custody arrangement for my two children. I am extremely happy with the results as well as the entire management of my case from start to finish. I am confident this is the last time I’ll have to return to court regarding the custody of my minor children as Roger was so effective in resolving the case to their benefit. I would highly recommend Roger to anyone dealing with a difficult custody situation. You have to be willing to listen to Roger’s advice and expertise. He knows the ins and outs of the court system, understands the tough relationship dynamics at play in divorce and custody agreements, and will be your best advocate as long as you are willing to do your part as well!
I also really appreciated Roger’s use of the MyCase software. This web-based platform contained all of our appointments, communication, files, invoices, etc. He kept everything very organized on the site and I always knew what was the status of the case, the next steps, and what to expect. The transparency on my case was very important! Best experience I’ve ever had with case management.
And as a bonus… before I worked with Roger, I had a lot of anxiety surrounding attorneys, similar to the “white coat syndrome” that many people experience around doctors. Roger calmed my anxiety not just in regards to my custody case, but also my anxiety around attorneys in general. He is not just a great attorney, but a great human and it shows in all that he does. He made me so comfortable, I’m now in a serious relationship with a wonderful man who also happens to be an attorney!

As both a client and attorney (one who does not specialize in family law), I highly recommend Brian Urban as collaborative divorce counsel. With Brian's expert guidance, I was able to drive my own collaborative process in terms of the timing of the process and pursuing my priorities in the divorce, negotiate agreements with my ex spouse that best suited our respective needs and the needs of our children, and preserve communication with my ex spouse about our children. There is an old saying which states, “The definition of a fair divorce settlement is that both parties walk away unhappy.” After 31 years of marriage, raising three children and running a successful company, I did not want this antiquated interpretation of divorce to define our family. I met Mr. Peller in 2018, I found Ken’s contact online after talking and meeting with several lawyers. When I first met with ken, I felt I finally find the right person. Till today, I have been feeling fortunate and greatful that I found him and made the decision to have him as my attorney.
Ken is a great attorney with lots of experience. He truly listened to me, to what I wanted and to what I had concern about then give me his advise. What’s more than that is he also thought from the child’s perspective, sometimes he would just think and talk like a friend of mine, if not an attorney. We would walk through the impact of the case direction to the kid, including what’s several years down the road.
Ken has his own law firm, I can get in contact with him directly. Ken replies phone calls as soon as he can If he missed one. And the email exchanges with Ken were also on time and informational.
My case involved a young child and last over a year, it was a difficult time especially when the other party was using what he knew about the law telling lies, threatening and harassing me. Situation: My son lives in Columbus, & his minor son lives in Akron. My son got notice his son was in a bad situation with his mother, & he had to fight the maternal grandmother for custody. To be honest, I came about Ms. Staats phone number desperately trying to find a lawyer for my son on just a few days’ notice. We weren't local, and Ms. Staats was the ONLY lawyer not only to answer the phone herself, but to take the time and talk over the situation with me, AND agreed to be in court in just 3 days’ notice! Wow! She really came to bat for my son. While the other lawyer resorted to "Jerry Springer" type tactics in the court room, Ms. Staats countered every low blow statement and ridiculous motions with a professional attitude coupled with a mother tiger's ferociousness in protecting my son & his rights, and his son's best interest. Even the mother to my grandson said "I don't know where you found that lawyer, but WOW! She wouldn't let mom's lawyer get away with anything. She's impressive!"
Elisa was responsive to emails and calls when her scheduled allowed, and always got back with us. It took 10 LONG months for my son to get custody, several hearings, pretrials and motions, but really, we got every pennies’ worth of professional representation from Ms. Staats and her advice to follow during that time. When it came down to trial, she brought with her TWO of the biggest organized binders of categorized evidence and information, questions for witnesses etc.. And was VERY prepared to go to trial. Our family, & our son was extremely impressed at the detail of her work. We thank heavens that Elisa Staats was that one lawyer who answered my desperate call for help that day. Now my son has his son living with him again & they both are so very very happy!! (And so are we!) We feel Ms. Staats was overly fair in her cost, & she was always upfront on any fees or potential future fees/costs that could happen. We also feel that she did NOT "nickle and dime us" on everything, we got more than our money's worth hiring her to represent our son and his son's best interest.
