I filed for divorce w/ minor child involved and I made a mess of things trying to do things on my own. I wasn’t sure where to turn for legal counsel. I did a search on unbundled.com and Attorney Dodger Arp came up. I spoke to numerous attorneys but I felt that he would be the best attorney to take on my case. Why, because he was affordable but also very transparent about which route would be the best to take for my case. He took the time to explain things to me and made sure I understood. He represented me and my motion was granted without a hearing! If you are looking for legal assistance, go with Attorney Dodger Arp. Attorney Dodger, Adrienne, and his entire team are exceptional!

Dodger clearly cares about each of his clients. He works hard to get you the result you need but is honest and upfront about the negatives of your case so you aren't set up for an unrealistic expectation. He's not in this for the money but because he truly cares and it shows. And, his office staff is excellent!

I contacted the law office of Dodger Arp on March 30, 2022 for a Uniform Motion Calendar hearing scheduled for April 6, 2022. Attorney Arp and I spoke to him in great length about prices and what I could expect for each cost on any service that he provided. On April 1st, I received a text message from Adrienne that Attorney Arp would not be available to attend that hearing, but no other information such as requesting a continuance, etc. After I made multiple calls to the office looking for actions that the firm could take regarding his representation, I finally got a reply to my email that stated that Dodger Arp was declining the entire limited appearance that was to include limited appearances for two other aspects of the case...less than 24 hours before the first scheduled hearing.

I spoke with her about my mother's legal issues and she failed to review the information, misrepresented the info to her supervisor and made me out to be difficult to deal with when she didn't do her work. She has no empathy, no compassion and cost me time in finding a competent, caring attorney. She really lacks the ability to understand a client's needs and the issues at hand.

I needed a Divorce Lawyer. Upon meeting Mr. Marshall, he represented himself to me as specializing in Divorce, so I hired him... I would later learn, he did not. After a 30 year marriage, I trusted Mr. Marshall to know what he was doing as a representative for my best interest, but in the end, I signed off on a Divorce Agreement that failed me. I lost the home I'd bought for myself, all the money I counted on coming in for years, and it absolutely destroyed the plans I had for the future. He made a terrible error, being simply wrong on the information he assured me was correct. I asked him repeatedly to check and double check his facts, but he did not, or I wouldn't be writing this now. He failed me completely, and I would never recommend this lawyer!

Dan Marshall was able to provide excellent and courteous professional services. I met with Dan only once, but was reassured that my case was in good hands. The strategy decided upon by myself, Dan, and his partner Scott Berry was made clear and understood - and it was successful. The added stress of the case was alleviated by the confidence the lawyers of Marshall & Berry projected - and the communication I had with them was made convenient and with ease. I would happily refer the services of Marshall & Berry to any friend or family member. Thanks Dan!

Dan is thorough, responsive, and extremely literate on the research end of legal issues. He provides excellent customer service. You need to find the attorney knows and wants to help you. Do research yourself on the judge once you know who it is. After speaking to other attorneys about my case. I now see I was setup by both sides. Have to spend more now as my son wants to live with me will use legal aid. Was told by other attorneys that I should have went to court. Advice due research on other stay away fro. This one she will sell you out.

I broke up with my Gf who was on my house deed. I put in 63K she put in 3K. There was also 35k shared debt that i was getting stuck with. I personally negotiated getting back all my down payment and 60% the equity. I could have gotten this back the her portion of the shared debt in 3 visits on my own to small claims. Even after arguing with Ms. Rodely, she strongly advised me to not take the deal. The house sold and the ex decided she wanted half of everything, ms Rodely finally got back and said she had a sweet deal. Well, that sweet deal was 35k less than the deal i negotiated. When i questioned her on this she said" i don't feel comfortable representing you" and I was left finishing up the ex GF's atty on my own. Ms. Rodely, works out of other attorneys offices, she has no staff and rarely returns calls or emails. She was very evasive and rude and appeared to have lost all documentation because she never recalled our case details any time we did have contact. I wish i had read the other "real client" reviews before retaining her. For me Ms Rodely was a very poor and costly choice.

Extremely professional! I had been threw four firms prior to retaining Mr. Manoff. It was shortly after I retained Mr. Manoff that I realized the true difference between hiring a good attorney and a great one! I would recommend him to anyone that is dealing with a challenging situation regarding their children. Theses are always very sensitive matters and to deal with someone of his caliber gave me a sense of confidence which was much needed during an extremely challenging time. It involved what means the most to me. My only mistake was not finding him prior to the other firms. The term you get what you pay for is so very true when it comes to attorneys.

Stuart Manoff and his team are both reputable and hold high concern as to their clients. I hired Stuart and his team after a former attorney bungled my family law case and left me in total financial disaster. Stuart and his team came in with a resolution and drove and navigated our points and arguments through the family judicial system with precision and a no-compromise poise. He is very well regarded amongst the judges and judicial staff. Both Stuart and his team are highly professional, courteous, and have a general concern as to the well being of their client. I would highly recommend him if you're looking for someone to handle your legal needs that will serve you in you're best interests.

I feel compelled to share my horrendous experience with Gabrielle, a family lawyer whom I hired and regretted every minute of it. It is my sincere recommendation that you steer clear of this individual, as they possess the ability to single-handedly ruin your case, drain your finances, and create unnecessary conflicts with judges. First and foremost, Gabrielle's dishonesty was utterly appalling. Throughout the entire process, she consistently misled me and provided false information, resulting in misguided decisions on my part. Gabrielle’s lack of integrity and transparency was truly disheartening and shattered any trust I had initially placed in her. Additionally, Gabrielle's behavior in the courtroom was nothing short of disastrous. She exhibited a complete disregard for proper courtroom etiquette and frequently clashed with judges, thereby aggravating an already challenging situation. It was evident that her unprofessional conduct adversely affected my case and left a lasting negative impression on the judges involved. To make matters worse, Gabrielle's incompetence was astounding. Her lack of knowledge and understanding of family law was evident in her advice and strategy. She was ill-prepared for hearings, often stumbling through arguments and failing to effectively advocate on my behalf. Gabrielle’s actions demonstrated a lack of skill and expertise, which ultimately cost me precious time, resources, and, worst of all, a favorable outcome. Regrettably, Gabrielle's mishandling of my case resulted in exorbitant costs. Her exorbitant fees were not justified by the poor quality of service I received. It was deeply frustrating to witness my hard-earned money wasted on a lawyer who only compounded my problems and failed to deliver any positive results. In conclusion, I implore you to stay far away from Gabrielle as a family lawyer. Her dishonesty, unprofessionalism, and lack of competence are a recipe for disaster. To safeguard your case, your finances, and your emotional well-being, I strongly advise seeking alternative legal representation. Remember, there are numerous skilled and reputable family lawyers available who will genuinely prioritize your best interests. Spare yourself the anguish and turmoil by avoiding Gabrielle at all costs.

I hired Gabrielle to help me with my case. Not only was she completely unprofessional, she even went as far as hurling insults during open court. I don't mind being represented by an aggressive attorneys, but slandering and name calling is uncalled for. Childish at best. My case had a sub par ending, mostly to do with Gabrielle not being able to stay focused, organized and professional. Even the Judge mentioned Gabrielle's facial expressions when she heard something she didn't like. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Gabrielle was completely unprepared through all processes of my case! She did a poor job of fact gathering as well as prep work when getting ready for all hearing. It was truly embarrassing sitting in the courtroom having her represent me as she appeared to be a disheveled mess. Her paperwork was not filed in an organized manner and she was shuffling through paperwork scrambling to find things. She never made any valid points regarding the large parts of my case and seemed to focus on things that really didn't matter. She did a horrible job of walking me through the legal process and left me confused as she always hid behind her legal jargon. Gabrielle was always very personable, but I truly believe that I could have done a better job representing myself! Don't waste your time or money.

0 stars. Susan Chopin is currently in her 70s and does not have a paralegal. We hired her for a family law issue and a parental plan change. She had a $5000 retainer which was blown through in 2 months without a single court appearance by her. She had her son show up one time in an effort to consolidate since he was already at the court. He showed up late. We weren't even to mediation yet when we received a breakdown saying we were almost completely through our $5000 retainer. 2 months, a few legal forms, no in person work, and we requested a breakdown of how much was left in the retainer multiple times that were ignored. We would ask direct questions via email and receive 5-6 emails that were unnecessary before an answer came back. Not sure but that seems like a simple way to drain a retainer. We asked many direct questions and kept getting vague or no answers. We would be told deadlines by Susan and would not see the filing done she said would need to be done. When we asked what was going on she said she was waiting on us to inform her on what was the best course to proceed. We would talk and have a firm plan of action and she would not follow through without our guidance ? She is supposed to be the lawyer. We considered staying with them for a very brief second but when we told her we couldn't afford to spend $20,000 on adjusting a parental plan she simply said she would file for withdrawal. If you need a good attorney keep looking. This is not the one for any of you.

He never really wanted to take the case. The majority of cases he handles deal with family law, not Personal Injury. Mr. Fields didn't want to work, as the case is not an easy one because there are multiple Defendants. Basically called us liars and treated us with little respect and a great deal of suspicion. He didn't inform us that they (LaBovick & LaBovick) were dropping us as clients, we had to find out when we arrived for a procedure from the staff at the surgical center.

Hiring Ms. Roschkind was one of the worst business decision in my life. Over one year into the process and thousands of dollars later, I had to fire her for incompetence and brief a new lawyer. She does not think strategically, does not plan ahead and predict and was reactive to the opposition lawyer and put us on the defensive through the whole time. She is particularly fee focused and pusillanimous in an industry known for its voracity. If looking for an attorney, proceed with extreme caution.

Great experience. Hired attorney Roshkind after firing first 2 divorce attorneys who were unable to get my divorce settled "fairly" or with any financial support after almost a year of mediations. Attorney Roshkind and associates were able to get a much better settlement for me as well as the alimony that I had been told would be "impossible" by the other 2 firms. Hiring attorney Roshkind was the best decision I ever made. Highly recommend!

Mr Baer took on my daughter's divorce case because she had no money to hire another Lawyer. Mr Baer did not help her at all and quit her in the middle of the case, his reasoning was that he and my daughter were not on the same page and that she was too emotional. So my question is, why is Mr Baer, a Lawyer, if he is not going to help people win their case or support them ? Was it because she had no money and no one else to turn to ? Mr Baer showed poor professionalism in this matter.

Mr. Abramso, it's an attorney that goes every Thursday to Immokalee, with his son and so called assistant. The problem is that his charges are extremely high but also he does not solve the immigration problem the client has. Mr. Abramson, keeps the original documents from the client therefore when the client needs some information about his case he has to go back to his office and Mr. Abramson charges $300 for the copies or the information his office provides. I was a client of his, he charged me $2500.00 to start a asylum case then I was told that i did not have prove of my critical situation in my country and could not do anything about it and that was it. He never return me any money nor never gave me my documents back. There are tons of people like me, that they take advantage of our immigrant situation and take our money but never resolve anything. We just do not know what to do about it!

I'd give him zero stars if I could. I needed a divorce lawyer when my husband filed for divorce. I'm a senior, disabled woman with barely any income. I made a hasty and poor decision to hire him. I fired him a few weeks later. I won a credit card dispute to get my $3500.00 retainer back, so instead he filed a suit against me in court, a lien on my assets in the case. My opinion and advice to anyone is to be 100% certain that everything he tells you about Florida law that's related to your case is really the law, BEFORE you give him any money. I wish I had.

What a Family Law Lawyer Can Do for You

A family law lawyer provides legal services related to family relationships, including marriage, divorce, child custody, and adoption. Family lawyers help clients navigate emotionally charged legal issues, providing guidance and representation in disputes that affect spouses, children, and parents. Whether you're going through a divorce, seeking custody of your children, or drafting a prenuptial agreement, a family law lawyer ensures your rights are protected and your interests are represented.

Family law attorneys often handle sensitive matters and offer objective legal advice, helping clients reach fair outcomes either through negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

When Should I Hire a Family Law Lawyer?

Hiring a family law lawyer is beneficial in several situations, especially when legal matters involve close personal relationships. Common reasons to hire a family law lawyer include:

  • Divorce or separation: When ending a marriage, a lawyer can help you navigate issues such as division of assets, spousal support, and child custody arrangements.
  • Child custody and visitation disputes: If you and your co-parent can't agree on custody or visitation, a lawyer can represent your interests and work toward a solution that benefits your children.
  • Child support: Whether you’re seeking child support or defending against a claim, a lawyer can help ensure the appropriate amount is calculated and enforced.
  • Prenuptial or postnuptial agreements: A lawyer can help draft or review agreements that protect your assets in case of divorce.
  • Adoption: Family law lawyers guide you through the legal process of adoption, ensuring that all requirements are met.
  • Domestic violence or restraining orders: If you're a victim of domestic violence or being falsely accused, a lawyer can help you obtain or challenge protective orders.
  • Paternity cases: If there are questions about the paternity of a child, a lawyer can help establish or dispute legal fatherhood.

Hiring a lawyer early can prevent issues from escalating, and they can offer you the best chance of achieving a favorable outcome in emotionally charged situations.

What Does a Family Law Lawyer Do?

A family law lawyer provides a wide range of services depending on your specific legal needs. Their responsibilities may include:

  • Advising on legal rights and options: Helping you understand your legal rights regarding divorce, child custody, support, and other family law issues.
  • Filing legal documents: Drafting and filing petitions, motions, and agreements with the court, such as divorce papers, custody agreements, or support orders.
  • Representing clients in court: Arguing your case in front of a judge if a settlement can’t be reached through negotiation or mediation.
  • Mediation and negotiation: Assisting with alternative dispute resolution methods, such as mediation, to reach agreements on issues like custody, property division, and support without going to trial.
  • Enforcing court orders: Helping you enforce court orders related to child support, alimony, or custody if the other party fails to comply.
  • Drafting prenuptial or postnuptial agreements: Creating agreements that protect your assets in the event of a divorce.
  • Handling adoption proceedings: Ensuring that the legal process of adoption is followed, from filing paperwork to finalizing the adoption in court.

How Are Family Law Lawyers Paid?

Family law lawyers typically charge clients in one of several ways, depending on the complexity of the case and the lawyer’s experience. Common payment arrangements include:

  • Hourly rates: Most family lawyers charge by the hour, with rates varying based on experience and location. Clients are billed for the time spent working on their case, including consultations, court appearances, and document preparation.
  • Flat fees: For more straightforward legal services, such as drafting a prenuptial agreement or handling an uncontested divorce, some lawyers offer flat-fee arrangements.
  • Retainer fees: In cases that are expected to require significant time and attention, such as contentious custody battles, a lawyer may charge a retainer, which is an upfront payment that covers the initial costs of legal services. The lawyer then bills against the retainer as they work on your case.

The exact cost will depend on the complexity of your case and the lawyer’s fee structure, which should be discussed upfront.

How Much Does a Family Law Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a family law lawyer varies based on factors such as the lawyer's experience, the location, and the complexity of your case. Here are some general cost guidelines:

  • Hourly rates: Family law lawyers typically charge between $150 and $500 per hour, depending on their experience and the complexity of the case.
  • Flat fees: For simpler cases, such as drafting a prenuptial agreement or handling an uncontested divorce, fees may range from $1,000 to $5,000.
  • Retainers: For more complex matters, such as contested divorces or custody battles, lawyers may charge a retainer ranging from $2,500 to $10,000 or more. The lawyer will bill against the retainer for the work they do on your case.
  • Additional costs: You may also be responsible for additional costs, such as filing fees, mediation fees, or expert witness fees.

Always ask for a clear breakdown of the lawyer’s fees and any additional expenses during your consultation.

Top Questions to Ask a Family Law Lawyer

Before hiring a family law lawyer, it's important to ask questions to ensure they're the right fit for your case. Here are key questions to ask during your consultation:

  1. What experience do you have with family law cases like mine?
Make sure the lawyer has experience handling cases similar to yours, whether it's a contested divorce, child custody dispute, or adoption.
  2. How will you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges by the hour, a flat fee, or requires a retainer. Ask for an estimate of the total costs involved.
  3. What are the possible outcomes of my case?
An experienced lawyer should be able to give you a general idea of what to expect based on the facts of your case.
  4. What is your approach to resolving disputes?
Ask whether the lawyer tends to favor negotiation and mediation or whether they prefer to take cases to court. This can help you determine if their style matches your goals.
  5. How long do you expect my case to take?
While it’s difficult to predict, the lawyer should give you an estimate based on similar cases.
  6. Who will be handling my case?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may do much of the work, so make sure you understand who will be your main point of contact.

How to Check the Credibility of a Family Law Lawyer

To ensure you're hiring a reputable family law lawyer, follow these steps to verify their credentials and reputation:

  • Check state bar association records: Verify that the lawyer is licensed to practice in your state and is in good standing with no disciplinary actions.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for reviews on websites like Avvo, Google, or Martindale-Hubbell. Previous clients can give you insight into the lawyer’s professionalism and success in family law cases.
  • Request references: Ask the lawyer for references from past clients who can speak to their experience with the lawyer.
  • Review their website or professional profile: Look at the lawyer’s background, case history, and areas of focus to ensure they have substantial experience in family law.
  • Look for professional memberships: Membership in reputable organizations, such as the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), can indicate a lawyer's expertise and dedication to family law.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first consultation with a family law lawyer, it’s important to come prepared. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Relevant documents: Bring any documents related to your case, such as marriage certificates, prenuptial agreements, financial records, custody agreements, or court orders.
  • List of assets and debts: For divorce cases, prepare a detailed list of all assets (e.g., homes, bank accounts, retirement funds) and debts (e.g., mortgages, loans, credit card balances).
  • Details of the family issue: Provide a written summary of the situation, including key dates and facts related to your divorce, custody dispute, or support issue.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Write down any questions you have about the legal process, costs, and potential outcomes.
  • Your goals: Be prepared to discuss your objectives, such as custody arrangements, property division, or spousal support, so the lawyer understands your priorities.

Being organized and clear about your situation will help the lawyer evaluate your case more effectively and offer the best advice for moving forward.
