Going through a divorce is probably one of the most painful things that a person can experience. With Corinne, you are in very capable hands. She is an astounding attorney, but - just as important - she is a compassionate human being. The combination of her legal skill and her humanity make here a rare find indeed. Going with Miller & Miller was the worst legal and fiscal decision I've ever made. I would have been better off not declaring bankruptcy at all. If I could give a negative rating, I would. They don't even deserve a one-star.
Here's a handy list of ways they don't help their clients.
1. A few days after I put Miller and Miller on retainer, my bank filed a retaliatory lawsuit against me when they found out I retained a lawyer for bankruptcy. When I called M&M, I was told it wasn't their problem and I needed to deal with it.
2. They made me drive from Madison to Milwaukee to sign the final paperwork, even though they have an office in Madison.
3. At that meeting, I told them they calculated my pay incorrectly. My payments were based on payroll deductions when I was married; I was single at the time of the bankruptcy. They overestimated my income by roughly 20%. The lawyer refused to update my paperwork based on my true salary.
4. I have a hidden disability, which results in $4000 in yearly out-of-pocket medical expenses, which I included on my paperwork. At this meeting, they removed those expenses and told me I was too young to have them.
5. My lawyer did not attend my hearing. When I was called to the stand, a legal associate approached me and said she was with M&M and she was having trouble figuring out who I was.
6. When listening to the salaries and payments for other individuals in the hearing, I noticed I had the lowest salary, but I had the highest monthly payments. The legal associate told me this was because I kept my car, which I needed to drive to work. This car was fully paid off and only worth $5000.
7. My mortgage increased by $400 over the five years of Chapter 13. I was told my payments would be adjusted, but this never happened.
8. During the first year, I asked if we could revisit the payroll and medical expenses listed in items two and three. I made multiple emails, calls and sent documentation to M&M asking for help. I was told they would get my payments adjusted, but that never happened.
9. Five years later, I'm finally done with payments, but somehow, the trustee took out 66 payments. I signed a contract for 61 payments. I still haven't received the refund for those payments. I'm out $6000 now. The last time I heard from M&M about this was almost two months ago, and of course, nothing has happened since.
10. Now that my bankruptcy is coming to an end, my bank is once again threatening me with another lawsuit. Guess what? M&M is once again silent on the matter. I’ve had to pull a significant amount of money out of a retirement account due to the lack of work done by miller and miller on my case.
They talk a good game while you're on inboarding, but as soon as the payments clear from the trustee to M&M they stop communicating.
I'm coming after you, Miller and Miller, with a few small claims filings. One is for reimbursement for those $6000 in overpayments. The second is for another $6000 in legal fees I paid to M&M. I will also be filing a complaint with the Wisconsin State Bar.

Caleb was amazing! He handled two out of state traffic offenses for me. He not only got the offense reduced from 10pts to just 4 but he also got the reckless op removed from my record so my insurance will not go up as much. The best part was I did not have to fly there to attend court and he got the offense reduced. Amazing service! Russ is an amazing attorney. He stood by my every step of the way even when I had a mental break down after i had been convicted. As a business professional, I have required legal services for countless situations over my lifetime. Mostly for normal business dealings, though a few were more adversarial in nature. In either case, selecting the best attorney for the situation is obviously important. When our family was faced with a situation involving a family member being falsely accused, I found myself out of my element as family law was an area I had never needed to explore. I did know however, not having the best attorney in this particular case would mean a devastating outcome and a tarnished record that would haunt us for a very long time.
My vast and extensive research brought our family to Usow Law and thank goodness it did. Simply put, Jody Usow is an extraordinary attorney in every way. From the beginning, she was great at managing the expectations, the process and our family. Even though our emotions and frustrations would sometimes run wild due to the unjust accusations, Jody always managed to recenter us and focus on the law and her plan to succeed.
Jody's experience and overall strategy in dealing with the opposition was brilliant. I was very impressed with her proactive tactics that set the stage for a favorable outcome. Watching Jody in the courtroom was a sight to behold. Measured and mild-mannered up until the petitioner's testimony became clearly disingenuous, and the lion was unleashed. In this day and age when we have so little accountability, it was thrilling to watch a dishonest person eviscerated on the witness stand during cross-examination due to their lack of integrity and vengeful actions. I initially hired Jody to assist with a temporary restraining order case I was facing where my child’s mother over exaggerated an argument and lied to police to get the TRO. Jody stepped in last minute literally the day before, heard my story, met me at court and represented me for the hearing. The TRO was granted but Jody being the realist she is, let me know going into the hearing that it would likely be granted and why. Even then I appreciated her honesty and willingness to represent me on such short notice. After the TRO hearing my child’s mother decided she did not want me to see him so I continued to work with Jody with the goal of getting 50/50 custody and placement. Jody has proven to be a beast in the court room at every hearing we’ve had. She is very professional, down to earth, respected by the court and she knows her stuff! Her assistant Nick is just as awesome! We all worked together to accomplish the end goal and they were both very professional, nonjudgmental, and willing to educate me every step of the way. Nick even took the time to call and find out officers were in office, and ride his bicycle to the district to serve them for a court hearing the next day because they had not been able to be reached or served. I enjoyed working with Jody and her staff especially with this all being new to me, she would always answer my very long emails or phone calls in a timely manner, she worked with my family members/friends who were helping me with testifying or confirming information, and she understood how important it was to me to be apart of my sons life and have him be apart of my family and his siblings lives. She took time to educate me on what was happening throughout the entire custody battle and was patient with me when I did not do my part in a timely manner. At the end of my case, I got everything I wanted 50/50 placement and custody, even with the mother having representation and even with the TRO in place- which was a blessing in disguise because Jody fought for the mother and I to have court ordered communication through Our Family wizard where everything is documented for lawyers or the court to be able to access with no way for parents to delete information. Jody has been a huge blessing to me and my family and was worth every penny! Even after my case closed she followed up, gave me great advice and encouraged me to reach out to her if needed. I highly highly recommend and she will be the first name I give to anyone going through any family court disputes.

Falsely accused of a felony crime not by an individual but by the state itself and against the state, P&D and my attorney Brittney Lafond went above and beyond to make the courts respect my rights and my due process which I might add Wisconsin has no problem violating both. Facing a 6 year sentence for exercising my first amendment right to protest an illegal arrest of my minor son corrupt Brown County prosecutors were willing to use all power of the state to cover-up the deliberate and illegal actions of public officials and to prosecute me to the fullest extent of the law to facilitate the cover-up. Without the dedicated team at P&D I surely would have been just one more victim of Brown Counties version of justice. Sadly all the public officials who committed misconduct and even some felonies have all escaped justice mainly because in Wisconsin public officials are allowed to commit felonies as long as they re acting in their official capacity. I owe this firm and Brittney Lafond my life.
