The fact that he was as firm as he was on his price, because if he wasn’t willing/able to be firm on the cost of his service/expertise how could I possibly expect him to fight for me and be firm in the courtroom. Think about it!
You can get a cheap knockoff store brand attorney for 3k and basically get “convinced & forced” into a plea deal or you can spend just a tad bit more and get the representation YOU NEED against a government that is hellbent on stripping YOU of YOUR freedom.

I called this office at a time of great stress. My first contact was Shoshannah (the office manager, whose professional and calm demeanor was very appreciated). Mr. Galambos then spent time with my family, letting us know what to expect and how to negotiate the best outcome through each step we faced. Not only was he helpful to us regarding outcome, but he was pleasant to speak with, and we left each interaction feeling calmer than we entered it. Our family's situation was relatively minor, but mishandling it could've made it a far bigger deal than necessary. Mr. Galambos's counsel allowed us to keep it as minor as we'd hoped.

There is an extreme amount of trust, and a giant leap of faith one must take in hiring an attorney. Hiring a lawyer in family law matters of this nature entails tying some of the most painful and difficult decisions of your life to another humans' skill set, and trusting that they can and will properly represent you during a time when it's hard to trust anyone. It involves handing over deeply personal intimate details, sometimes through scraping together the funds to access their help. It's a big deal, and that's why I'm writing this review.
It's important to me to authentically share my experience as John Hosfords client in order to give prospective clients the insight to appreciate what a sound decision hiring this firm is. I aim to help alleviate worry and provide those reading this hope in a place where for me, there wasn't any before meeting my incredible attorney:
I was forced to put everything I had into Mr. Hosfords hands due to the complexities of my case. It turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life. My case was transferred from another county, I was beyond nervous to switch attorneys. John Hosford expertly handled the transition leaving my old attorney with nothing but complementary and encouraging things to say after she worked with him on the transfer. Once in SLO county, he was able to systematically free us from the oppressions and injustices of my situation. He repeatedly went above and beyond to ensure success. I was going through a divorce and child custody when i found Michael Fischer online. After speaking to several lawyers Michael was very professional and listen to me with my problems. I went to him because while pregnant I had made the huge mistake when I went to child custody court and letting my ex husband take our baby when he turned 10 months to PA different state. I knew I made a huge mistake leaving court that day so when I went back to court to tell the judge I was going trough postpartum depression and I wasn’t thinking straight I was taking medication for depression the judge refuse to acknowledge anything I told him. That’s when Michael came to the rescue taking my case. It took us a little bit but we were able to prove that my son being so young and sick with asthma could not go for that long to another state without his mother. Michael gave me back that peace of mind I had lost and we won the case. After that I also got him to do my divorce that took more time because my ex was making it hard for me. Michael again was able to talk to my ex and finalize are divorce this August. I’m a middle class person I live check by check for the most part. I was able to stay with my condo. Michael has reasonable prices and you pay monthly so that helped me a lot. Some lawyers want 10k up front. I would recommend Michael to anyone that is in need of a good lawyer specially when it comes to fighting for your kids.

Definitely would not recommend using Judge Amy Pellman for mediation services. She was incredibly biased from the start and made an unprofessional comment within 10 minutes of the session starting. Should’ve ended it there instead of wasting an entire day making zero progress on any kind of settlement. She was only interested in assisting one side on their goals, and did not advocate for me on any points. She might’ve been a great judge but clearly needs some more experience in mediation, where the purpose is to try and reach an agreement between both parties- not decide who she thinks is right and pursue their interests only. We hired another mediator after this failed session and had immediate success with them.

Esfandi are hands down the greatest attorney's i've worked with and are my go to attorneys anytime I need help . Was having my doubts at the beginning like anyone else would since there's alot of bad attornys that over charge or try to scam there client ,but esfandi gave me a great affordable deal for a hit and run case I did years ago . The stress and worry are not worth it just put my trust in them ,got my license back and at the end of it all came threw strong,& helped me beat my case today . Case started this year and ended today so Im defenetly coming back to these guys and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a great affordable attorney. Avoid James Alderson at All Costs!
My experience with James Alderson as my attorney was an absolute nightmare. As a 24-year-old single mother needing legal help to navigate a custody situation, I trusted him, only to be completely taken advantage of. Not only did he lack any real communication, but he also belittled me and made incredibly hurtful and unprofessional remarks. He even went so far as to call me “ignorant” and tried to instill fear by saying I shouldn’t have custody of my daughter and that she should be taken away—all because I slapped my ex-husband in the face after he made horrible remarks about me and my daughter. The disrespect and lack of empathy were shocking.
I initially hired James to help clarify custody details with my ex-husband, specifically regarding dates, holidays, and weekly schedules. But from the start, he twisted my trust. When I later informed his office that my ex-husband had filed a restraining order against me, I wasn’t seeking help for this—I only wanted him to be aware since he was my attorney. Despite this, James later claimed he “helped” the restraining order get dismissed (even though it had no grounds and wasn’t my reason for hiring him). When I reminded him that I’d only hired him for custody matters, he became dismissive, calling me “ignorant” and telling me he couldn’t represent me because of a misdemeanor on my record. He even suggested that I didn’t deserve custody of my daughter—an unbelievably hurtful and baseless statement.
In short, James Alderson took advantage of my situation as a young mother, provided no real support, and was entirely unprofessional and judgmental. His lack of communication, combined with his condescending and manipulative tactics, made a difficult situation even harder. I would never recommend him to anyone. If you’re seeking a compassionate, competent attorney, steer clear of James Alderson. Don’t let him take advantage of you as he did to me.

Do Not Hire Robert Ponce!
I had an awful experience with Robert Ponce as my attorney. As a 24-year-old single mother needing legal help, I trusted him, only to be completely mislead and taken advantage of. From the start, he misled me, claiming he was “reducing” a felony charge to a misdemeanor. Later, I found out it had only ever been a misdemeanor—there was no felony to “reduce.”
Throughout the entire process, I never even got the chance to physically speak to Robert Ponce himself. Every conversation I had was with his front desk assistant. Looking back, that should’ve been a red flag, but I wanted to trust that he was handling my case properly and doing what was best for myself and my child. Instead, he dragged out my case over nearly a year, ultimately charging me over $3,500 for what I now realize was a complete lie.
When he asked if I wanted to keep him on for further representation, I declined due to his high fees and my lack of confidence in his help. I informed him that I was low on funds, hoping he might understand. But instead, he immediately handed my case over to a public defender without even notifying me of an upcoming court date. This lack of communication resulted in me missing the appearance and having a warrant issued for my arrest. When I finally got back on track with the public defender, they were shocked he hadn’t told me about the court date, putting me in an unnecessary and stressful situation.
Robert Ponce’s lack of honesty, communication, and compassion shows he’s only interested in adding another client to his roster to squeeze out a few thousand dollars. His business practices are extremely shady, and it’s a shame there are lawyers out there who operate like this. I would never recommend him to anyone, and I strongly advise anyone considering his services to look elsewhere. Don’t let him take advantage of you the way he did to me.

When I decided I was done, I looked up top divorce lawyers in Roseville and Hoss' was one of the names that came up. We sat down for a consultation and Hoss was confident he could help me, he made no promises and told me up front all the costs and possible duration for my case. I was in a panic state and contacted Timothy after hours on a Friday night, he returned my call within an hour or less. Before I committed to hiring him he gave me legal recommendations.
It was a matter regarding my minor son and involved his school. Timothy listened to us and worked to put a legal strategy in place, the matter lasted about three month, he represented my son at an administrative hearing at the school and although this type of case was somewhat new to him he was able to research the procedures and regulations involving this type of hearing. I did a lot of research to find Karen and took a very long time to get the money to retain her because I'm not rich. Throughout this period I continued to contact Mrs. Rose for reassurance that she would still take my case. I hired Karen only to have her back out on me at the very last minute, 8 hours before court. This was after communication with Karen drastically failed. She become incredibly unprofessional and started using her negotiation skills to put me down as I was attempting to understand the legal process. She refused to hear anything I was saying and put her own spin (like gaslighting) on what I would ask or try to communicate. (If I ask "Can we do XYZ?" then the response shouldn't be attack on me personally or my past.) Phone call follow-ups were inconsistent and communication was difficult. She made promises she couldn't keep and ultimately sold me an idea about my case only to completely change that idea later (using double speak to sell me her idea and then doing something completely different after hiring). If you are a busy professional any attempts to stay organized will be met with hostility with this attorney. Please find representation elsewhere.

Currently unable for my fiancée to even get into contact with this man. Or his assistant in which he told him to contact. He then proceeded to lie in court stating they haven’t had any prior contact after we’ve been dealing with this arrest since 08/2023. It’s now almost May of 2024. It’s now only a few days until his next court date and still not able to get into contact with Taj. To where my fiancée has had to request time off from work to walk into his physical office in person to try and get some information on his case and an update on possible charges or what he’s going to push for etc. I’m frustrated for him as he’s trying to better himself since one stupid mistake. This man needs to do better at contacting his clients. Not just the once’s that are physically locked up in jail

We hired this attorney due to his flyer he mailed to us. We completely regret hiring him. He was warm and understanding before we paid his retainer. After, he became a curt, unresponsive, rude with his communications with him. I have NO idea what we got for our money. Our son was not defended vigorously or even listened to. As usual, the D.A.'s in Ventura throw every charge at the defendant, scareing them with long prison terms, so they settle without going to trial. Our attorney had no advice on whether to fight or risk a trial. My son was locked up in jail for months, with little advice or a modicum of understanding from this defence attorney. In retrospect, using a public defender would have been the way to go, with probable equal results.

The circumstances of my case were such that they required a minor level of effort to approach the nuances of the situation. From my conversations with other Santa Barbara lawyers, in my first case he could have pushed for a better decision through increased communication and effort with the District Attorney. When I received a DUI, a more serious offense than my first charge, he was misleading in his role as an attorney. I did the required programs through Zona Seca and participated actively in all activities as dictated by the Santa Barbara Superior Court. After all of that, I was told by the DMV that I had to spend another 16 months at Zona Seca before I could get my license despite legal decisions surrounding my case. Pearlman was non-responsive on multiple occasions even after I had become aware of this information. When I finally got in contact with him, he informed me that I had no options other than to take the non-legally dictated decision of another 16 months at Zona Seca. In that same vein, he offered no legal advice nor action to approach or alter the decision, which was eventually determined to be a simple clerical error. Through other local Santa Barbara attorneys, I was luckily able to get the legal support I deserved. They were able to draft me a writ certiorari for a nominal price and worked to ensure I had my license back within a few months. The lack of Pearlman's willingness to help rectify my situation was remarkable. Had I not worked with other great attorneys in Santa Barbara, I would have been under the impression that I had no other options and was hopeless in responding the inadequacies of the DMV. If you have any nuances or complex components to your DUI, I would highly advise you continue to do your research and look elsewhere for consultation.

I can't express how grateful I feel to have hired Mr. Pearlman. He is an extremely experienced and thoughtful attorney. Moreover, I believe his long experience and reputation with the DA's office was critical to my success.
I was arrested for suspected DUI and multiple substance related charges. I was expecting the worst as this wasn't my first offense. In the end he got the multiple counts down to one possession charge leading to an informal probation which is so much better than I was expecting. I paid him a single very reasonable fee (not going to trial) and I always felt that I was getting a service consistently worth every penny I paid. I can't say that of other lawyers that have represented me at all. In fact, he kept to our contract without charging more even though the case unexpectedly dragged on for more than a year (solely due to the red-tape of the county).
I could tell that he really cared about my case and his office gave me the personal attention and time that I needed. He answered all my questions very promptly and professionally. Moreover, his office and administrative staff were just as helpful, polite and kind. They always dealt with any issues, paper work, court dates or appearances in a quick, detailed and professional manner.
I thought my career, life, license and professional certification were all going to be over & ruined. Instead, because I followed his advice and instructions, I'm getting a second chance and learning a serious lesson. I would 100% recommend Mr. Pearlman first for any criminal defense needs.
