One of the best law office. My asylum case is handled by the very efficient staff members here at Robert Jobe office. I was all the time guided by my paralegal team member Tatjana. She supported me through all the process and we are able to successfully filed our case and the process was made very easier by my legal team. Thank you Tatjana and team for all your support during this journey.

Fred, and his staff, are wonderful and caring people. He represented me on a case, with the upmost professionalism. He was thorough, and efficient. I truly believe, I couldn’t have had a better defense attorney. He defended me with respect, and determination. I couldn’t have hoped for a better outcome. I am eternally grateful to Fred Hanassab, Lily and other office staff. I highly recommend him, his high standards of integrity, and respect I received from him and the staff. Thank you Fred and office. You are all wonderful, and knowledgeable people.

I used Mr. McCunn as a coach. I could quickly get straight forward feedback, support and focus. We always discussed options, timeline, budget...it was a real strategic plan. It was like playing chess when the other side was ready for checkers. The whole team knew me and how to help me. I don't want to need a lawyer again, but if I did, I know who I'll call. I didn't always hear what I wanted, but I learned why, what other options I had, and didn't waste time, money and energy.

I hired Delia Knox Rios after the passing of my Mother to assist me in the probate process. This time was extremely difficult with my loss, and it was even greatly intensified by the complex process of closing her estate with no will. I sought Delia’s assistance because she had already worked with settling my mother’s divorce. My mother and I were pleased with how she handled the affairs of the divorce case, so I was confident that she would successfully handle the probate process. In the beginning, I was so confused and didn’t know where to begin with the logistics of a death without a will. Delia compassionately walked me through the steps, and made it an easy transition for me. During this time, she identified and oversaw my mother’s property and determined the value of it. Thereafter, she submitted a list of my mother’s property and its value to the courts. She identified all the claims made to the estate, which included credit cards, and a case still stemming from her divorce. The probate process began to get complicated due to an outstanding claim. This claim against the estate was causing me to have to go to Family Law court to settle the matter. During this time, I had to hire Delia to settle this matter for me, in which she did an outstanding job. She was determined to protect her client, and went above and beyond to settle my case, even witnessing on the stand on my behalf. She was happy to step aside as the Attorney of record in this claim to provide pivotal information obtained in the divorce, which resulting in the claim being settled in our favor. She worked hard and fought for my case, and worked tirelessly on it. She helped us though the most difficult time, when we thought we were beyond help. I highly recommend Delia Knox Rios. She is relentless, determined, and has proven herself to handle a variety of cases.

Horrible mismanagement of my family’s Trust for years. One that she wrote herself, amended multiple times, and even went to my grandfather on his deathbed to have him sign an amendment when he was not in a clear state of mind. When asked for an accounting, she stalled for 9 months and then all of a sudden, no longer represents the Trust or Trustee. This woman should have her bar revoked. She will steal your family’s money and do zero work that benefits anybody but herself.

Kathy Campbell is passionate about families. She stood by my side through a very long and contentious divorce; constantly trying to elevate the ordeal to civil. I felt stunned and wounded at every turn. Kathy was my shield, the best defender. She prepared me as best as she could for court proceedings and helped me understand the law. Kathy consistently and naturally conducts herself with respect and a high moral code. She always treated me as a priority and showed concern about my wellbeing and the wellbeing of my children. I have the utmost respect for Kathy and would recommend her for anyone that needs a compassionate, solid, thorough, and professional attorney.

Working with Alice Graham was one of the most horrific experiences of my life. Wish I had read Stella B.'s review above before hiring Alice. Run, don't walk away from Alice Graham. As Stella B. writes before me she is: Just another lawyer that over bills and underdelivers. SO TRUE. Talks a big talk. She told me she was an "expert" on my issue. She always appeared to be afraid to speak with opposing counsel, just sent emails with mischaracterizations. A couple of phone calls could have completed my case in a few hours. She would send me drafts of documents to review. I corrected her mistakes. I would do so and then she'd type in my changes (and then going back with me again), thereby charging me four times the "agreed upon" rate, plus $1.50 for postage and handling. She is beyond impossible to communicate with, and always has to be right. She lets you know this in a very harsh and condescending manner. She tells you she is always busy, but by the looks of it, I would doubt it. The first time I met her in person was when she parked her car in front of my home. She took one picture of the home for evidence, and charged me $180 for the picture which took one second, calling it a "site review." Lacks integrity and I constantly needed to remind her of follow-up. I could go on and on, but each time is worse than the next. Alice needs to get out of this business. I know many good lawyers, but I used Alice as a referral from a personal friend who did not use her as a lawyer, just a friend (my big mistake!!). She did not focus on my case. Find anyone else and you will get better representation. If I could give her ZERO stars I would. Alice - I do not need a comment from you on this Yelp review. We have had them and you are aware of your mistakes. I had such an awful experience with you. The worst. Funny thing, her "good" reviews are most likely written by herself to boost her stardom. Far from being a star.

Many lawyers have the reputation of being dealbreakers. Granted, in reading the fine print and understanding all the nuances extant in contracts, they can keep one out of trouble in the short and long term. Alice is not only capable of the latter but in the most recent instance was able to salvage an important Contract for our company. Short history: after innumerable discussions between our company and their company regarding portions of the contract and after several iterations, it had come to a stalemate and the Contract was going to be lost. I called Alice to be sure she could/would provide assistance. Then I made arrangements with the other company to be sure it was ok if their lawyer and our lawyer communicated to try and resolve this impact. They were amenable so I notified Alice and within hours each was in contact with the other and within less than an hour a resolution was reached and the contract was saved. Alice is diligent, fair, pleasant, knowledgeable, experienced, and astute but resolute in reaching the best compromise/agreement for her client. I do not hesitate to recommend her highly for anyone who is need of competent lawyering for a successful resolution.

11/1/17 I needed to consult with a lawyer on some General Litigation. I called around town to 3 local Sonora Lawyers explaining that I just needed a consultation for now about what to do in Small Claims Court but none would see me and actually recommended I try the Chenault Law firm. I called and the Chenault Law receptionists setup an appointment for me for a free half hour consultation with the owner of Chenault Law...Sally Chenault. They also have offices in Modesto, Ca. I am 67 years old and over the last 50 years I have had to deal with a lot of lawyers and it has been my experience that female lawyers work twice as hard and are more honest then male lawyers in general. I explained my pending ligation to Mrs. Chenault who I will just call Sally who explained to me in detail what I needed to do in great detail for the full half hour. Since my damages where under 10K, Sally recommended Small Claims Court as my least expensive avenue. Her advice was so good that I was able to force a large National Corporation to pay me my damages due with out going to Small Claims Court by just sending a few choice emails through the proper channels. I received my money in 3 weeks instead of years without any litigation involved. Sally did not make a dime on me but gave me her legal expert advice willingly and for free. My first impressions of Sally--very nice looking woman with a soft spot for dogs. She had a big "older" dog in her office she recently rescued (that tells me right away she has a kind heart). Also on her desk about 10-15 very organized hard bound case files in alphabetical order with different colored posted notes hanging out at various spots. I was greeted with a warm smile and firm handshake- Sally is a sincere honest and hardworking woman that was not a bullshitter and informed me about the pros and cons of court and my case with this big Corporation....whether you wanted to hear it or not. I was impressed with Sally Chenault and when another legal problem, big or small comes my way I will be sure to consult with Sally Chenault and her Law Firm first as this "Lady Lawyer" has your back. Sincerely, Bruce

I had couple of lawyers for different problems in my my life but no one helped me as much as Mr Ameli did, he was the best. He was there whenever I needed him. He was only one phone call away. I just met him once at his office, but we were always in contact via email, and cellphone. he handles the cases himself and as good as possible. ( He also has a really great assistant) He is not one of those lawyers that take people to fantasy land to just get the case. He is trustworthy, helpful, and honest. The first day, after Mr. Ameli heard about my case, he exactly said how my case was going to end up and sure enough 11 months later my case was closed with not only the same result as he told me the first day but better. Long story short, he knows the law, he is good at it, and more important that he is a good man. thanks Mr. Ameli for all your help Irfan

I was referred to Michael Richter by Michael Kaplan, LLC, a worker’s compensation attorney in Colorado. (FYI - Mike Kaplan has been doing a great job with my husbands case. Unfortunately, he is based in CO and is unable to assist me in CA. This review is in no way a reflection upon him (Mike Kaplan) or his staff who have all been phenomenal.) When looking for an attorney, there are a few assets/traits that I find are invaluable to have in this field -patience and an ability to listen well - especially when an attorney asks a potential client a question. Sadly, attorney Richter is lacking in these skills. I reached out to attorney Richter to inquire about the validity and concerns regarding my case. His voicemail alone should’ve been a red light, as he point blank indicated he is interested in “broken leg or broken back” cases vs how my injury was sustained. Nonetheless, my injury was sustained at work, I am still symptomatic and being treated via workers compensation at my job, and Mike Richter came across as very rude, condescending, and as not wanting to even hear me out - which he didn’t. For each question he asked me, he interrupted me as I tried to answer. When I asked him to let me finish answering a question, his response was essentially that he didn’t need to hear it. Again, very poor traits to have as an attorney and certainly not behavior that would assure me that he’d have my best interest or preservation of my occupation on his agenda. Thus, I would not recommend this attorney as you likely won’t even be able to attain an actual consultation with him without being cut off, dismissed, or rushed.

So after 4 months of thinking my case involving a infestation of mice & rats(caught 15)was being worked on, I found out that my case was terminated almost immediately after accepting my case because I answered no to one of the criminal background questions that mentioned having any recent criminal activities etc which is true, over 6 years plus is not recent so I guess they don’t trust to represent us because of that I feel it’s discrimination because what does having a criminal record have to do with us needing the help?! It shouldn’t have even taking me reaching out to find this out. Very unprofessional for a law firm & they don’t have your best interest obviously.. like how you can’t sympathize with a family that obviously needs representation & justice from & very inhabitable situation if that’s your job?!

I hired Michelle during one of the most vulnerable and traumatic times of mine and my children’s lives. She made big promises, didn’t deliver, and drug things out for billable hours, while she knew my kids were going through hell when with their dad. I was never in the courtroom with her, always made to wait outside of it. I remember one court date, where I became very frustrated as the court was once AGAIN postponed, and she turned around, away from me, and said to her associate, “She’s so I unappreciative”, referring to me. Very unprofessional at times. I finally had to fire her and retained another lawyer who had my children’s best interest at heart and got results and resolution, and always had me in the courtroom with him. If you can, try to work things out in your marriage. If you can’t, try to keep it out of the courts, and work out an agreement that’s good for the kids.

Being a business owner, I typically only leave reviews for one of two reasons; Either what I experienced was above average, exceeded expectations, & the business deserves the shout out. Secondary, as a forewarning to others the business was such a letdown & did so horribly, avoid wasting your money. Unfortunately, my experience with Michelle & her firm was the latter. Custody is never easy and conflict was high with my case as I was barely able to see my kids for almost 2 months. I reached out to Penna Coker Law & spoke with Michelle, once & only once with an initial free consultation. After listening to my case, she provided pieces of an aggressive game plan & some guidance that gave me hope. I retained Michelle's firm & she assured me along with her team, she would be there to continue providing legal guidance. She couldn't have been more wrong. I spent the next 3 weeks with unanswered questions, confused, afraid, & completely left in the dark without a single word from Michelle until I terminated her firm. Things started off rocky with over 20 misspellings on the initial filing, including several of my son's name which would be correct on one line, incorrect on another, correct, then incorrect. Other misspellings included commonly used words or incorrect grammar. If you're going to charge $350/hr for a paralegal's work, at least have them run spell-check. Even Windows 98 had spell check... After that, they filed a document I never saw until after they filed with court & misspelled CALLIFORNIA. The state they're practicing law in. I emailed my attorney directly 6 times & called 6 times requesting to speak with Michelle over a 3 week period. I always got the same excuses of why she wasn't available & after taking my money, Michelle didn't see my case fit enough to take even one more second of her time on me. Michelle was so uninvolved & out of the loop, in one of her final emails to me she made several references to my "child". I have two children Michelle. After being fired, Michelle was so kind as to take the liberty of filling in my new attorney, then bill me for her time. Neither my new attorney nor I requested Michelle to inform my new counsel how to do their job. $4,500 initial retainer, then Michelle informed me "there was so much work done on my case" & then I got another $3k bill a month later. I just hit the same total amount with my current attorney after 7 weeks, who also got me custody orders & overnight alternate weekends with my kids after 11 days. Michelle advised me to file an aggressive restraining order, then admitted to me in an email (after termination) that evidence wasn't concrete enough. Had I pursued what Michelle advised with fantastic odds of losing, I was potentially liable to pay the opposing side's legal fees if I hadn't decided to drop the case. If you're looking for help with your family law case, I would recommend any firm but this one.

Michelle Penna and her staff all worked very hard to help resolve my issues. When looking for an attorney, you want to find one that will be fair and is capable of providing you with accurate information. Michelle and her staff will go above and beyond to help you find a fair resolution. If you want an attorney that has no heart and will just crush the other party then don't go to her. If you want someone that will help you through a tough situation and do everything possible to provide a very fair result, then Michelle Penna is who you want to hire. As angry as we can be with our former partners, at one point we loved them. It can be difficult to remember that, especially in the heat of battle. For me, the most important thing was getting though my custody situation with a fair outcome. Michelle made that possible for me! Now me and my ex both feel good about the situation and are able to communicate well again and work together on matters regarding our daughter. Everyone's situation is different, and it wasn't an easy road getting to this point. It took us over a year to get to where we are today. On the other hand, I have recommended people to Michelle that were able to resolve their issues in a matter of weeks. I would recommend Michelle and her staff to absolutely anyone I know. Thank you very much Michelle, for everything you did for us!

I was a plaintiff in a bad faith disability case. Attorney got me to settle by lying to me about punitive damages. At the legal malpractice of that action my attorney did not ask for $2.5 million in punitive damages testified to by expert. My attorney denied it, 1-1/2 years later got trial transcript. I was right but outside SOl. Consulted attorney (who had been on Board of Director's of Lawyers Mutual) who told me my attorney had not asked for the punitive damages portion of case ($2.5 million) to get more work as defense counsel for Lawyers Mutual. Jury returned verdict for what my attorney asked for. I did not know you could sue for civil collusion. Attorneys would not help me, ever. I think this is probably happening frequently but no attorney will talk. Only investigations by a government insurance commissioner can help but victims are in the dark even as to any cause of action. If you can help, please report.

Peter Smith and his firm, Dhillon Smith, are corporate counsel for the company I serve as CEO.Peter represented the company in numerous actions, including our counter-suits, involving a former employee. The nature of the actions involved fraud, concealment and failure to disclose material facts to prospective investors, breach of fiduciary duties, self-dealing, etc. The former employee's attorney took on his case on contingency fees, and attempted to shakedown and bully the company and its executives at depositions and in court. Peter's handling of the actions could not have been more effective and successful. He was calm, competent, low-key and very effective where it matters. While the other attorney was into theatrics and intimidation/bullying. Peter's style was focused, nuanced, and demonstrative of sound legal judgment and high quality professionalism. Peter created a simple, effective legal framework for the company to present his case for the company, presented it to the judge in a trial lasting several days. The result speaks for itself: the judge overwhelmingly ruled in favor of Peter and the company. To make it more satisfying, the judge on separate occasions admonished the other attorney for conduct. In contrast, the judge was very satisfied with Peters conduct and professionalism. At all times in this multi-year, multi-action process Peter kept the Board and CEO fully informed of what he is doing. He discussed his legal strategy, asked for feedback, incorporated those elements that we offered he found of value, explained why some of my other points didn’t matter, etc. In other words, his working style enabled the company and its executives to feel part of a team in working with the outside counsel in a very important matter. Peter, considering the company's interests, had also filed court papers to insure the other party would be held liable for the attorney's fees in the frivolous actions they imposed on the company. The company is waiting for the judge to complete their ruling and expects to recover its costs (plus damages). I've worked with some of the best attorneys in corporate law/litigation in the bay area. I'd rate Peter Smith and Harmeet Dhillon among the top. Their firm is small, the service is personalized, your case would be handled by the name partners, their cost structure is far lower than a big law firm so you get excellent value for your money. If you are a CEO/head of a small or medium business I'd suggest you consider Peter Smith as corporate counsel. If you are an executive or founder of a company and need a sound, competent, low-key attorney to protect your interests, I'd suggest you consider Peter Smith. Lastly, if you are faced with someone attempting to intimidate/bully you with legal threats you'd do well to consider Peter Smith to represent you.

Peter (as he prefers to be called) is a great trail attorney. He is a partner of his small but extremely effective firm Dhillon and Smith LLP. He along with his partner Harmeet Dhillon have, I think, put together a great team to help people like me to navigate complicated legal trials and processes emerging from some knotty business partnership disputes. Peter has a great temperament to deal with the highs and lows of the emotions that I went through with my business issues and calmly helped me to make decisions by explaining the legal and trail nuances leading to successful solutions each step of the way. In conversations with Peter I felt the dept of his experience and that was very reassuring to me. I am not an attorney or an expert in the Law by far and this is just from my experience as a layman client. His firm, Dhillon & Smith LLP, have rates that are slightly on the higher side but they are very efficient with their hours. They are client friendly and work through any issues that may come up. Thanks Peter and Harmeet ... and team. I highly recommend them.

We hired Harold Smith to represent the company as general counsel. As founder, CEO,and largest shareholder I had a ring-side seat in observing Harold's performance as counsel for about four-five years. Harold is expensive and ok value in select areas: real estate transactions and contracts and litigation, dealing with the city and state departments involving commercial and residential real estate. He was not as effective in other areas, specifically litigation involving business or commercial entities, employee-employer risk management, negotiating and settling with attorneys representing irate customers or business partners or employees, smoothing through upset shareholders, etc. Harold's inexperience, and his refusal to acknowledge it, complicated matters very much and proved in time to be expensive for my company. The company concluded we needed someone that was more experienced in those areas Harold was not strong, we needed less of real-estate focused legal help where he is ok. So we switched to another firm. Harold's handling of our decision to switch legal representation made things very difficult and he could have been more professional.

Nadine Orliczky is part of a capable and motivated family law firm. She is an excellent strategist who helped me navigate a potentially complex and difficult case. Whenever we met, I received her undivided attention, and I felt my family’s well-being consistently considered. The firm became the clean-up team for a divorce that had already gone bad. I wished I had met the team at BGD at the beginning. It is noteworthy to share that the entire firm showed efficiency with my money which was exemplified by clear and ethical billing practices. Staff were knowledgeable, friendly, organized, and worked well as a team.

First and foremost, Mr. Wasieleski was an absolute pleasure to deal with and I could not be more thankful for the help that he gave me. I was involved in an automobile accident in late 2015 in which I was t-boned at an intersection by someone who ran their red light. As a result of my accident I was experiencing sever pain in my body almost immediately. I was referred to Mr. Wasieleski by a friend who had gone through him for their auto accident and they were extremely pleased with how he handled their case. He immediately contacted a witness at the scene in regards to my case and was able to the prove that I was not at fault for the accident by securing the witness's statement. Thanks to Mr. Wasieleski, I received the treatment that I needed and he was able to settle my total loss vehicle for more than I believed it was even worth!! Not to mention, he got me a great settlement for my personal injury claim as well. All of this was done by him and his office and they were diligent in their work and response. I highly recommend him and will happily refer all my friends and family in any situation where serious personal injury has occurred. He is my go to attorney for life.

Barry Mack likes to talk about himself and how he was a Commissioner at the Court. It appears he likes to talk about how amazing he is however, this is not the case. He drags his feet with your case and runs up your bill. So that retainer you pay of $5,000.00 is eaten up real quick. He is not aggressive with the court and fighting for you.He will even tell your judge, that he wore the same robe many years ago. Very weird. His paralegal staff is non helpful. He let my ex wife run the show who is not an attorney. Don't hire this guy because you will get nowhere and he will drain your bank account and credit cards dry.

My experience with their legal team during my custody and child support case was amazing. MTSA staff are very easy to work with. Gina is a compassionate lawyer who will go out of their way to explain options, ask questions and ultimately ease ones anxiety about the terrifying process which a child custody case can be. Things can get pretty tense in a courtroom but the great on top of my attorney's evidently being knowledgeable not only reassured me I was in good hands time and time again, but it also helped keep me calm and collected. MTSA worked closely with me and my ex husband's lawyer to come up with a settlement we could both agree on. I was very comfortable with the settlement and in which I didn't feel I sacrificed my beliefs as a caring mother. This kept us from an extensive custody battle in court and in the end, I feel that attorney Gina and her team fought for my beliefs as a mother and pushed for what I wanted. I am grateful for that and therefore definitely recommend MTSA family law firm.

Gina Azzolino failed to respond to my case numerous times. She also failed to notify me of upcoming absences in writing. Her lack of response became a problem - after 2-3 times of needing answers and a complete lack of response, I changed lawyers. I like her, and believe she comprehends situations well, but her case load is large, so don't expect to hear from her much.

What a Mediation Lawyer Can Do for You

A mediation lawyer specializes in resolving disputes outside of the courtroom through a process called mediation. Mediation involves a neutral third-party mediator who helps the disputing parties reach a mutually acceptable agreement. Mediation lawyers can represent clients in various matters, including divorce, business disputes, employment conflicts, contract issues, personal injury claims, and more.

Unlike litigation, mediation is a less adversarial and more cost-effective way to settle disputes, often leading to faster resolutions and preserving relationships between the parties involved.

When Should I Hire a Mediation Lawyer?

Consider hiring a mediation lawyer when you’re involved in a dispute and want to avoid the time, expense, and stress of going to court. Common reasons to hire a mediation lawyer include:

  • Divorce or child custody disputes: A mediation lawyer can help you reach a fair settlement on issues like property division, alimony, and parenting arrangements without going to court.
  • Business or contract disputes: For disagreements such as contract disputes, partnership conflicts, or intellectual property issues, a mediation lawyer can assist in resolving the matter through negotiation.
  • Employment disputes: Issues like wrongful termination, discrimination, or wage disputes can be addressed through mediation to find common ground and avoid lawsuits.
  • Personal injury cases: Mediation can help both parties agree on compensation in cases like car accidents or slip-and-fall claims without a prolonged court battle.
  • Property disputes: Disputes over property ownership, landlord-tenant issues, or boundary disagreements can be settled more amicably through mediation.
  • Family or inheritance disputes: Mediation can help resolve conflicts over wills or trusts without further dividing the family.

What Does a Mediation Lawyer Do?

A mediation lawyer provides a range of services to help clients resolve disputes through negotiation and mutual agreement. Their responsibilities often include:

  • Representing your interests: Acting as your advocate during mediation to ensure your rights are protected and you understand your legal options.
  • Preparing for mediation: Reviewing the facts of the case, gathering necessary documents, and advising you on potential resolutions.
  • Facilitating communication: Helping to facilitate open and constructive dialogue between parties to clarify points of contention.
  • Negotiating settlements: Assisting in negotiating fair and balanced settlement terms that are in your best interest.
  • Drafting mediation agreements: Preparing the official mediation agreement that outlines the terms of the settlement, which is often legally binding.
  • Avoiding litigation: Aiming to reach a settlement that eliminates the need for a court trial, saving time and resources for both parties.
  • Handling complex legal issues: Explaining the legal implications of various settlement terms in cases with complicated legal matters.

How Are Mediation Lawyers Paid?

Mediation lawyers typically charge for their services based on the complexity of the case and the time involved. Common payment methods include:

  • Hourly rate: Charging an hourly fee ranging from $150 to $500 or more, depending on experience and case complexity.
  • Flat fee: For simpler mediations, some lawyers may offer a flat fee covering all legal work involved in the process.
  • Retainer: In ongoing or complex cases, a retainer may be required as an upfront payment billed against as work progresses.

Discuss fees and payment structures with your lawyer during the initial consultation to understand the cost of mediation services.

How Much Does a Mediation Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a mediation lawyer depends on several factors, including the case's complexity, the lawyer’s experience, and the time required to resolve the dispute. General cost estimates include:

  • Hourly rates: Typically between $150 and $500 per hour.
  • Flat fees: For simple mediations, fees may range from $1,000 to $5,000.
  • Total mediation costs: Can vary widely, from $2,000 to $10,000 for straightforward cases, up to $10,000 to $50,000 or more for complex disputes.

Always request a detailed cost estimate during your consultation to understand total expenses.

Top Questions to Ask a Mediation Lawyer

Before hiring a mediation lawyer, consider asking the following questions:

  1. What experience do you have with mediation cases like mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in handling similar disputes.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify the fee structure and request an estimate based on your specific case.
  3. What is the likelihood of resolving my case through mediation?
Seek an honest assessment of whether mediation is suitable for your situation.
  4. How long will the mediation process take?
Inquire about the expected timeline and number of sessions required.
  5. Will you personally handle my case?
Confirm who will manage your mediation and represent your interests.
  6. Can we pursue alternative dispute resolution (ADR) if necessary?
Ask about other forms of ADR, such as arbitration, if mediation doesn't resolve the conflict.

How to Check the Credibility of a Mediation Lawyer

To ensure you're hiring a reputable mediation lawyer, take the following steps:

  • Verify their bar status: Confirm with your state bar association that the lawyer is licensed and has no disciplinary history.
  • Look for mediation experience: Review their website or professional profile for specialization in mediation and successful case histories.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Check platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google for client feedback.
  • Ask for references: Request references from past clients familiar with their mediation skills.
  • Check for certifications: Look for certifications from organizations like the American Arbitration Association (AAA) or the Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR).

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To maximize the effectiveness of your initial meeting, bring the following:

  • Relevant documents: Any materials related to the dispute, such as contracts, emails, financial records, or court filings.
  • List of key issues: A detailed list of the main points of contention that need resolution.
  • Timeline of events: A chronological account of events leading up to the dispute, including prior resolution attempts.
  • Goals for the mediation: Be prepared to discuss your desired outcomes and areas where you're willing to compromise.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Any queries about the mediation process, fees, or their approach to dispute resolution.

Being well-prepared will help the lawyer assess your case effectively and provide the best possible advice for resolving your dispute through mediation.
