My 14-year-old son was hit by a car while a pedestrian in a crosswalk. I didn't realize the long term impact his head injury had on him and the psychological impact that he would end-up going through.
After speaking to some friends and acquaintances, I decided to consult with a personal injury attorney. I was referred to personal injury attorney Shahrad Milanfar by a couple of different people. At first, I was hesitant, never having dealt with an attorney, I wasn't sure what to expect. I gave Shahrad a call, he listened to all of my questions, and concerns, and answered all my questions. Shahrad walked me through the process of what would happen if I chose to pursue the case for my son.
I decided to go ahead with the case and Shahrad explained fees and details that I needed to know. Shahrad began working on the case. From start to finish, Shahrad and his strong detail-oriented team kept me updated through the entire process. Any questions or concerns I had, they were quick to communicate with me, whether it be e-mail, phone calls, or text messages, there was always someone available in a timely fashion.
Shahrad and his team contacted all the doctors involved and did the work to get all the necessary paperwork from any places that needed to be paid for through the insurance. This review is long overdue. A dissolution is an extremely emotional and draining process period. The best thing you can do for yourself and for your child may not just be to get a divorce, but to work with a firm that genuinely cares about your circumstances and will fight tooth and nail for you. I get emotional just reflecting on how much more I got out of my dissolution than I could have ever imagined if it weren’t for Paul, Liz, and Linda. These 3 ARE the light at the end of the tunnel.
Who you work with MATTERS, especially if you’re involved in a high-conflict divorce with children involved. Do what’s best for yourself and your children and retain this firm. David helped me with a case regarding discrimination at my place of employment. I was a good worker, so I never thought it would happen to me. And then it did. It was a complicated case as there were many years of behavior from many people and a variety actions involved. The lawsuit itself lasted for many years too.
I always felt confident that David had the knowledge and experience to carry me through every step of the way - and there were a lot of steps! If I had a question, David was prompt to reply.
I’m still so impressed with how much David knows about California and federal employment law and how much real life experience he has with all of it. David knows how to build a case from the beginning to go to court. Of course, it’s always better to settle, but you’re in a real pickle if you can’t settle for some reason and your attorney doesn’t know how to win a case in court in front of a judge and jury. David was prepared for every legal angle. It was like playing chess - he was several steps ahead of everyone else.
Even in the most stressful situations, David was as cool as a cucumber and a consummate professional.
I am so grateful to David for all his help; I really can’t recommend David highly enough!

I needed help with a dire situation at work. Someone didn't like me and wanted me gone, despite an outstanding job performance on record. This was in the public sector so there was also a union involved and procedure that needed to be followed. I knew I needed an attorney, but didn't know how to find one that had the expertise and street smarts that I was looking for. I made numerous phone calls and consulted (in person) with two other attorneys before asking David Duchrow if he'd represent me. I am so happy he said yes.
My situation dragged out for months and time and time again, I'd be told one thing by the union (who was there to represent me) and something different by David. With his experience in appeals ("appellate law"), David was always one step ahead of the union because David would already know how this or that situation played out in the courts -- and he was well informed of the latest court decisions. It was this big picture type of thinking that ultimately got me a decent settlement considering the employer started out offering $0.
There were times I asked myself, "Do I really want to pay for an attorney? I have a union going to bat for me, won't that be enough?" All I can say is, I'm so very glad I had Mr. Duchrow on my team. I can confidently say that the only reason I got anything at all is because I had David Duchrow guiding and advising.
David Duchrow sees the big picture, the chess pieces, even when others trained in the law (and specifically in employment) couldn't see the same things he did with the same information. He's also one of the nicest and even-tempered people I've met. He was always patient and I did ask a lot of questions. David was careful to walk me through the logic of every piece of advice he gave to ensure I got it and understood the reasoning behind his recommendations. This helped me buy in to whatever it was he was suggesting and also gave me confidence when I had to face the ugliness of the situation before me.
The other thing I'll say is that his rate is extremely reasonable and David doesn't nickel and dime when representing you.
If you're in an employment situation and need an expert eye, someone with true street smarts or find yourself represented by a union, but wondering if you could do better, my short answer is this: Yes, you can do better. David Duchrow is the best I've come across when I was searching for an employment attorney. I'm extremely glad I decided to spend money on proper representation and I'm even more glad that it was on the right attorney.

I was referred to The Law Collaborative (TLC) by a colleague. I grew even more interested in working with the firm when I learned its mission is to help clients pursue the most peaceful and cost-effective solutions for separation, divorce, and nullity matters. TLC promotes negotiation and mediation over expensive court battles. I support this approach to navigating the emotionally difficult seas of family law, and wanted to be able to rely upon the skills of the attorneys at TLC to help manage the hostility I expected to face as I made public the facts about my ex-husband. From the first time I met Ty Supancic I was impressed by his intelligence, honesty, kindness, and good-natured personality. After we discussed and evaluated my options, I chose to pursue a nullity. A divorce would have been an easier and cheaper route for me to take. However, divorces only allow one to state “irreconcilable differences” as the reasons for the death of the marriage. Since this was not an accurate depiction of the facts, I decided to file for a nullity. From the start I was advised that obtaining a nullity would be a challenge. A nullity enables one to outline the chronology of events and list the specific causes (and explain why one party is at fault) for the end of the marriage, and thus allows one to present a more comprehensive case to the court. However, judges still very rarely grant them. It was clear to me that we were facing an uphill battle. However, I felt confident that I was in good hands with Ty as my representative and advocate. I worked closely with him for months gathering and reviewing the evidence for inclusion in my case, and assisting with the development of the legal documents. Ty is an extremely gifted writer, so this actually made the process enjoyable for me. He was able to consistently and accurately reflect my perspectives in his prose. Ty was also highly responsive to me during all of our communications about the case. I would receive replies to my emails within minutes sometimes, and he always made time to take my telephone calls. He answered at length every question I ever posed, and even took the time to explain larger legal concepts to me. In addition, Ty went to extraordinary lengths to accommodate my schedule for the few times we needed to meet in person. He even spent five hours with me finalizing the court documents and organizing the evidence for the nullity the day before the law office needed to be packed and moved to a new location. He never once tried to rush me or act like he had anywhere else to be but there working on my case. I am pleased to say we obtained the nullity shortly after filing our legal documents in court! The partners in the law firm said it was the first time in their collective 60 plus years of practicing law that they had ever seen a nullity granted so swiftly and based on the strength of the legal documents alone. Customarily a “prove-up” hearing is required with witnesses called to provide testimony. Here is an excerpt from a thank you letter I wrote to Ty following our legal victory: “I am so overwhelmed with gratitude that words are not sufficient to show my appreciation for your work at this moment. So, I will simply say again that I have been tremendously blessed to have you represent me and advocate for me in this nullity. Ty, your unsurpassed intelligence, legal skills, work ethic, sense of humor, unwavering kindness, and cheerful personality truly brought out the best in me. I developed great confidence in your abilities, and this allowed me to focus on the sometimes emotionally difficult process. Equally important to me was feeling encouraged and supported by you every step of the way. Your positive outlook kept me from becoming undermined by doubt, or entertaining any fear that I was "wasting" time and money on my pursuit of what I knew were worthy goals. You worked tirelessly and patiently with me for months during this labor-intensive process." Ty is highly recommended.

Nancy then suggested to me that I ask for a lump sum from my ex to finalize everything and compensate for the unresolved issues that we had. Her suggestion worked and we finalized everything without the need for further attorneys fees (other than the cost of a mediator to draw up the Settlement Agreement.) I was very impressed with both Mr. Rudolph's depth of knowledge as well as his professionalism and kindness. This was quite a convoluted mess of a case, one with several outside hearings going on at the same time, sometimes interfering with the matter at hand, but once Mr. Rudolph took the time to research the validity of my concerns, he never wavered in his confidence and trust in me. He figuratively then literally stood by my side as my advocate the entire time, most impressively during mediation where I tended to get a bit heated. This case is just now coming to a close (1yr, 7 months since filing) with my desired results. The charged party used delay tactics in order to have me give up. Mr. Rudolph dealt with each delay in a calm manner, letting them know his client (me) would not back down, and finally resulting in a satisfactory settlement agreement. Working with Diana was a gift from God. I knew my divorce was going to be messy - our break-up was disastrous - but Diana was fabulous at mitigating the items and dividing it up so that we were both happy. I appreciated how when my husband of 23 years and I were getting divorced, we didn't need to go through the courts and were able to settle our divorce without either of us paying a small fortune to lawyers and the courts to get everything straightened out.
I liked that they were there to help us reach a fair and reasonable settlement and that we didn't need to be at the coruthouse every week to get things settled. It was refreshing to be able to speak my mind about some of the things that I was looking for and I like that they stress peace in the process rather than what than taking everything a piece at a time. It's a more holistic approach to divorce that allows for some emotional healing along the way.
Though this is my second divorce, I wouldn't have aproached it any other way. Courts are too draining and being able to negotiate a fair divorce and settlement with mediation was a very good choice for us.
