I was referred to Shin Law Group and Jonathan through a family member that was actually sued by his group due to a car accident (they got 25k for a SCRATCH against my family member) and boy am I happy to say, that things were as smooth as they come using their firm. From personal experience handling a car accident ESPECIALLY against a driver who has no insurance or minimum insurance, I can't recommend getting a lawyer enough. And what a team Shin Law Group has. From quick referrals to chiropractors and other forms of pain management, quick responses by phone and a clear explanation of how things go down after an accident with insurance, look no further than Shin Law Group. I was rear ended back in October 23 and immediately searched for an attorney from a car enthusiast group and was recommended Jonathan from several people. This is the first time I had been in an accident but I already knew I didn't want to deal with insurance or the other party. Jonathan gave me a call the next day and explained the complete process. David Macpherson is the MOST honest and competent attorney I've ever met (and I've met and worked with several in the past three years due to a civil case I've been dealing with).
After calling, interviewing and working with several attorneys for the last 3 years, you finally realize when you have a hard working, solution oriented and extremely experienced person in front of you. David is all of that and more.
He is professional and transparent. His fees are reasonable and worth it. You start to feel like you're finally in good hands.
David won't screw you and add other attorneys from his payroll to do "research". He won't blindside you with a random bill. He's upfront and tries hard to really keep the costs down. He makes you feel comfortable and confident ...and reduces your stress and anxiety from the case.
No other attorney I hired found solutions quickly and efficiently as well as David did. Others gave me the run around for years doing busy work. They would miss motion for summary judgment deadlines and were careless in their paperwork.
David was on top of everything and I am so grateful that there are people like him in this world. I got so LUCKY when I found him and he actually called me back and decided to work with me. David Walker is a quality attorney with a great reputation. I’ve known Dave for my entire legal career. I would not wish anybody to have to go through a divorce. It is an emotionally charged event that is filled with stress.

My 2 year old child was abducted by her mentally unstable mother from our home in CA to her native Norway. On top she filed a baseless domestic abuse charge against me which threw me temporarily out of my house.
A friend advised me to contact Pauline. I had mixed feelings at first because she had not handled an international abduction case before and I knew that the odds were against me as the father with a young female judge in CA and Norwegian judges to deal with if we would win in CA. Pauline confirmed the difficult road ahead openly and told me that she would be personally committed and study the international treaties involved without guaranteeing success and be in constant feedback/consultation.
As a CEO of a large multinational I had experience with a lot of inside and top lawyers outside over my 20 years building my career. Pauline stood out! She has that unique combination of being down to earth/facts, communicating, listen, develop a joint strategy and go really deep and personal resulting in prime teamwork and effectively defining parts of international law that were uncharted under the Den Hague treaty against international abduction.
In short:
- The domestic violence accusation was denied.
- The child abduction was confirmed in LA Court.
- It was upheld in appeal in LA.
- The Court granted me (father) full legal and physical custody with limited supervised visitation for mother. With the mother and child being in hiding in Norway this was unenforceable.
- With the help and direction of Pauline we invoked the international Den Hague treaty in court in Norway with the help of a local associated law firm.
- Despite my child's Norwegian citizenship the Norwegian court ruled that the child should be returned to me in CA, upholding the original CA court order.
- In appeal the Norwegian high court upheld the ruling.
As a result of our teamwork my daughter is now happily living with us and has very limited visitation with her mother. She is almost 7 now and fighting visitations so we have a new problem brewing.
All of this would not have happened if Pauline had acted like a corporate or bureaucratic lawyer.
She took the time to familiarize herself with the details of international child abduction and made the crucial difference resulting in me having my kid back.
Her deep personal involvement and team working between us led to this highly unusual success and I am grateful.
Her hourly rate is steep but she is worth it and the final cost goes down a lot if you prepare yourself beforehand.
We are absolute happy with the way she handled our case and the result.

“In short, I was represented.
Robert Borsky pulled it in, got control, then got it done, instead of taking me for a ride. My only regret besides having to go through this travesty called “Family Law”, is not engaging Robert Borsky from the very beginning.”
My divorce took 6 long years to finish from February 2008 to January 2014.
Seven attorneys later, it was the divorce from hell that would not end.
Having to thank the corrupted “Industry” of California Family Law for that, too much time, energy and all of my resources were completely wasted, only to see my entire family become the victims.
I’ve experienced the “super attorney” who was only super at keeping me on the clock as they dragged their feet with delay after delay, only to satisfy their own financial interests, to the attorney who was very hard working and honest but lacked courtroom savvy/experience and the ability to get things done.
The other five attorneys were everything else in between.
My case was a train running out of control because of bad and/or dishonest representation (or lack of).
I met Robert Borsky at a workshop he was heading in 2008 that offered assistance to those who wanted to educate themselves on the subject and process of divorce.
I liked his workshop and message and decided to give him a call after being betrayed and abandoned by attorney number 6.
My brief experience with Mr. Borsky was a very positive one.
Besides being very accessible, he was always well prepared in our meetings both in and out of court and would exercise his ability to collaborate and contribute good ideas which complimented his knowledge of family law and my case.
Always fair and honest and fully engaged, he also shared a sensitivity level that really helped me rebuild my confidence towards a resolution to my case especially after six laborious years of litigation.
Additionally, he had no problem exercising his bravado in court or asserting himself when dealing with the rouge antics of opposing counsel.
In short, I was represented.

Mr. Matisoff agreed to take over my divorce case a few months ago. He sees discrepancies and knows what actions need to be taken immediately. At my first consultation, I told him I was looking for an attorney with integrity that would assist with a fair settlement for me and my kids in a high conflict divorce. I did not want to have to worry about questioning what I was being told or be left out of the conversation. He told me to meet with my then attorney first to see if a resolution could be found with the current support issue and try to get back on the same page with that attorney. I did as Mr. Matisoff suggested and realized I got more clarity from a brief phone conversation with Mr. Matisoff than I had in a 2 hour face-to-face with my then attorney. My experience with Mr. Matisoff thus far has been unlike that with my former attorneys. I received my monthly invoice today and I am shocked that his billing is more than reasonable. Had I started with Mr. Matisoff, my divorce would have been final long ago, less money would have been wasted and some peace might have been preserved. I don't know that mediation would have ever been possible with my spouse, but I don't think things would have dragged on or gotten out of control. Highly recommended.

My spouse and I consider Irma our guardian angel. We are a same sex couple and we hired Irma for her immigration services in June 2014 to see about getting my spouse his green card. We were very unsure of the process but we were impressed how well Irma explained the process. We liked working with Irma because she was thorough, well deatiled, and always accessible. I sent some evening emails and I would often receive a response the same night. It was a true comfort knowing that Irma was always in our corner fighting for us and watching over things during the process. The paperwork that was sent in was done right the first time and her hardship waiver that she prepared was perfectly written towards our situation. Finally, in February 2017, my partner had his immigrant visa interview in Ciudad Juarez and now we are just waiting for the green card in the mail. One other thing that we liked about Irma was that she was always so warm and welcoming every time that we came to the office. I will definitely be using Irma for the other services she offers.

I would like to recommend lawyer Irma Perez Cordova to the public in need of help with criminal defense, immigration cases. I recently worked with her, she kept a good organized plan and was always on to of every court session with me. It was sure a long process because of many previous misdemeanor tickets I have had. Court days would arrive and my immigration documents would not arrive, or neither the procedure move on. Mrs. Cordova would always be there for me giving me advice keeping me with my head up. At every court session Mrs. Cordova would always be prepared and do a great job on speaking to the judge in all court sessions she would do great and be approved for extensions of time. After my last court session a couple weeks passed and finally I was given the news by that all the courts and tickets were cleared. My family and I were so happy and appreciated with all of Mrs. Cordova's hard work.

Mr. Lodge worked on behalf of our business on two different cases. The first case involved an ongoing dispute we have had with another business. Mr. Lodge first negotiated with the owners of the other business and then set up some mediation sessions. After only two sessions, and some rather complex discussions of possible resolutions, Mr. Lodge put together a comprehensive solution, which essentially ended our years-long dispute.
The other case involved a court action that Mr. Lodge filed and argued in court. I was impressed with both the pleadings and the arguing in court. Before a trial, Mr. Lodge reached a settlement which I felt was excellent. I would recommend Mr. Lodge and his assistants to anybody who needs an attorney or mediator.

My name is Jacques Delacroix. I am a retired professor of Management. I live in Santa Cruz, California with my wife, Krishna Delacroix who is an artist. Recently, we went to John D. Laughton, A Professional Law Corporation in Monterey, California for help to deal with the complex and forbidding business of making end-of-life legal preparations. We dealt entirely with Brandie Luis Esq. ,and with the pleasant office staff person (whose name escapes me right now because, well, I am writing a will am I not?)
Ms. Luis deployed incomparable patience and perseverance in dealing with our passivity (and perhaps, with our unconscious resistance). She guided us skillfully through the meanders of legal dispositions we did not even suspected to exist. As a result of her quiet efforts, my wife and I now think that we have done all the right things with respect to our offspring and with respect to the world at large. We believe that thanks to Ms Luis, our passing will not trouble much the peace of those we leave behind. We even think we will leave behind us a slight wake of benevolence. Those are satisfying and probably rare feelings.
Ms Luis ' disposition is so conscientious and so kind that once, she ever made a house call to us! (I hasten to add that this may not be a service the firm offer routinely and to all is customers. We may well have received favored treatment, on his occasion though I am sure we did nothing to deserve it.)
Obviously neither I nor my wife have any previous experience with this kind of endeavor. However, we suspect we stand more on the side of clients from Hell than on the side of angelic clients. Ms. Luis never lost her cool with us and she continued to direct us with a firm but friendly hand until the task was completed. If loving lawyers were not a human impossibility, we would say we have come to love Ms Luis!We could not recommend her personally and the John D. Laughton firm more highly.
