This case involved a highly visible commercial property wherein the tenant abandoned the property literally in the middle of the night owing substantial rent to two property owners who were related to each other. Tim had to navigate through this mess representing only one of the property owners (me), which most lawyers would avoid like the plague. Instead, Tim handled it all with a cool head when family drama rivaled anything I could have ever foreseen. Not only did he become my own personal mental health expert, he negotiated some amazing results with a high profile, multi-national company who ultimately bought the property. This process took over two years and never once did Tim waver in his support of my future finances and nearly daily contact with a sometimes raving maniacal client (me). You're not going to find anyone else who is even close to Tim Tatro's talent.

I hired Mr. Tatro to help my company collect on a past due bill for our construction consulting services to a large national management company. From the very beginning he kept control. His personal involvement was instrumental in a complete payment with all interest.
Without his consistent solid approach we would not have been able. After trying for several months without even return call, Mr. Tatro had this completed within a month.

Steve represented us in a very long drawn out eminent domain action vs the city. While we settled our case, our neighbor also was involved with the matter and his case went to trial. After 5 months, Steve prevailed against the city and their three lawyers. As a witness testifying in our neighbors case I was amazed at the level of detail, organization and understanding that the Steve commanded. He made the three experienced attorneys working for the city look like amateurs.

Steve is an excellent communicator. In speaking, as in court, Steve is authoritative, assertive, polished and confident. In writing, in legal documents, Steve is an excellent wordsmith. I can't define what makes a good writer, but I know it when I see it. Steve's writing skills make boring legal docs come to life.
A good lawyer takes care of the details and deadlines-lets me sleep at night free of worry.
A good lawyer is emotionally invested in my case.
A good lawyer truly has my back.
A good lawyer is like the team captain.
Steve is all of these things and that's a comforting feeling.
What about the question of big firm vs. small firm? Freeland McKinley & McKinley is a small firm. However, you never feel isolated from the legal mainstream. Steve is very active professionally; always interacting with other lawyers. He has partners to bounce ideas off. And, of course, in this case, having a wife, Karen, as a partner is a real advantage. And then add an excellent paralegal, Melody, to the mix and you have a well-oiled machine.
So, you can tell that my wife and I are happy clients. It's difficult to try to appear not too biased when that's exactly what we are. We like our lawyer!

Mr. Malloy prepared a complete trust package for me, including a will and advance health care directive. I chose him because he was recommended both by colleagues and clients. I found him very easy and comfortable to work with. I was very satisfied with the work that he did.
He even makes housecalls for her elderly clients who find travel to his office difficult. Mr. Malloy works very well with clients, who due to their age or condition, are sometimes difficult (and crochety). He is very patient, answers all questions completely and returns calls very quickly. I have been very pleased with his help for my parents and my husband.

We had a civil litigation which was very complex. The case was involved among US/India. I spoke to several (more than 25+) attorneys in SD/Irvine/Vista/LA but I ended up in this building. Didn't knew that I was going in safest hands. I hired Michael to help me with a legal matter (a business where I had been storing valuables absconded with my property and sold it! And we had to sue him to try to get my money back), and after working with him to a very successful conclusion of this legal case, I cannot find enough good things to say about the GREAT GREAT job Michael did.

We hired Ron Stormoen to help in a lawsuit in which my previous employers of 30 years were essentially trying to seize our retirement by reneging on the ownership they promised us early in the relationship. It was extremely important to us to receive justice and this money we had earned over our careers. Ron had faith in us and took our case. He smartly and successfully litigated our case and the jury found 12-0 verdicts in our favor on almost all questions. We won both the breach of contract cause of action as well as the intentional misrepresentation fraud case. I wish this had never turned into a lawsuit, but in the end I was extremely satisfied with the results. In addition, all throughout the case, Ron showed integrity and a commitment to the truth – he never was deceitful and played by the rules. While it is extremely satisfying to win, it is even better to do so without compromising ones’ ethics. I would hire Ron again (although I hope I never have to.) Good luck in your pursuit for justice!

We can’t say enough great things about Marc Witham. He is professional, responsive, and has excellent follow-through. Most important, he is highly knowledgeable of California state rental laws so he’s well qualified to put landlords in their place.
In our case, my wife and I had lived in a rental house for seven years and always had a good relationship with the landlord. Due to an undiscovered water leak, the wood floors in the house began to heave and buckle over the course of a month. The landlord’s handyman removed a section of flooring and we observed white mold covering the dirt crawl space. The entire floor needed to be removed and the mold remediated. Rather than work with us to temporarily move out, the landlord sent us an email stating she had no choice but to evict us.
We’re certain the true reason she evicted us was to substantially increase the rent. The effect on us was that we were pushed into a highly inflated San Diego rental market, with rents at 30% and higher than what we’d been paying. Panic set in the moment we received the 60-day notice.
When we were evicted, our stress levels reached boiling point as our landlord kept calling us daily to find out when we’d be moving. We needed help right away. Marc’s online appointment system let us set up an initial consultation (we were able to schedule a call the very next morning). As residential tenants, it cost us $160 for our first call. That may seem like a lot, but the waves of relief we felt afterward made it well worth the money.
It’s the relief from stress that we appreciated most. What we really needed was enough time to find a new rental. On that first call, after hearing our situation Marc was immediately able to cite a state code section that granted us far longer than the landlord’s 60-day notice. He also advised that her notice wouldn’t hold up because it wasn’t properly formatted or delivered. It was clear we were working with the right attorney for the job.
Our rental situation dragged on for over two months, and we spent just under $1,000 in attorney fees. It was worth every cent. It is amazing how quickly Bill can sift through all of information involved with a case and hone in on the salient points to reach accurate conclusions and devise a plan of action. Bill was the litigator for an ERISA plan , in which the former trustees had breached their fiduciary duties. Bill's performance in this role was outstanding because he was always extremely prepared and immediately responsive during the trial. For example one witness and one defendant testified falsely and Bill immediately referred them to admitted trial documents which proved their testimony was false. The defendant who testified falsely admitted his previous statement was "probably wrong". The judge in Federal Court ultimately ruled in our favor on the main issue in the case. A very important fact upon which he based this ruling was that this defendant's testimony was not true and this led the judge to rule in our favor on this primary issue.
