Every step of the way, alaleh was there with prompt responses, thorough explanations, and a reassuring smile. It felt less like I was working with a lawyer and more like I had a trusted friend guiding me through a tough time. I could not have won my very unusual and the first kind of workers' compensation case without Andy's unique expertise, diligent work, and caring. Andy and his team provided above and beyond support during the waiting period until the trials and final decisions. He accomplished a historic milestone in filling a gap in workers' compensation law and setting a precedence for the safeguard of so many workers in the future with a similar case. I am forever indebted to Andy and his team for restoring my well-being and career potentials.

Initially my contact with Andy was great. After I explained to him my situation he was able to take it apart and analyze it form stand points of all responsible parties. That was great. I learned a lot from conversation with him. My situation wasn't clean cut a winning case in the area that Andy was familiar with so he asked me to send additional info and he said that he will talk to other people and see what could be done in my case. He said right away that most likely it won't be a contingency fee kind of case, but he will think about what he can do and how much it will cost me. I was all up for paying him for services so I gathered up additional info and sent it to him next business day. And he hasn't responded. AT ALL. I sent follow ups once week for several weeks but he hasn't gotten back to me with ANYTHING. Just silence. Super unprofessional.

Systematically failed at every step of the entire process. Nearly zero preparation for the deposition. Zero communication without being repeatedly prompted. Preventable delays were a regular occurrence. After one year into the process, I discovered that Mr. Katz was unaware that he was (mistakenly) suing for a lesser settlement amount than was originally being offered by the Defense. I cannot understand how this individual makes a living at this. Extremely disappointed.

Mr. Thornton is very thorough and addressed all the issues in my case - many I was not aware of before I became represented. He was up front with me about my choices so I could make the best decisions about resolving my claim. His staff are friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend his services. His office location is great and was very easy for me to get to.

I hired Mr. Thornton for the purposes of helping me with my horrific work accident. At first all was well and I felt as if a weight lad lifted off my shoulders. However as my case grew I started noticing my calls were never returned. Settlement negotiations happened without my knowledge. The only good thing about this office is the secretary. That poor girl. She juggles everything for Brian and I've seen how smoothly that office runs because of her. Andrina always returned my calls and always assured that she had given my messages to brian. it was brian whom never returned my calls, emails, nothing. I had to walk away. Hopefully i can find another attorney to take my case. -M.Brosnan

Mr. BJ Thornton has surpassed my expectations as my attorney. I have been represented by 3 other WC attorneys previous to Mr. Thornton. He is attentive, reliable, and responsible in his representation of my WC case. In addition, his professionalism and attention to detail provides me with a worry free interaction with the court system. I highly recommend Mr. Thornton to any person who wishes to have the best legal representation available.

I have been a client of Mrs. Lloyd since my back was injured at Wal Mart in 11/07. She and Gloria have always shown me respect, concern for my pain and very patient with my lack of knowledge concerning the law, my rights, workers comps responsibility to me and every other issue I need resolved, no matter how insignificant it might be. My questions or concerns are addressed quickly and to my satisfaction. If my surgeon says I need something such as meds, a brace or a test and workers comp denies it (which happens frequently) Mrs Lloyd is on it in a heartbeat. When workers comp is making unrealistic demands Mrs. Lloyd sees to it that they operate in the guidelines of the law in regards to what is expected of me. When Mrs Lloyd is out of town or unavailable for a few days , if Gloria isn’t able to address my concerns until Mrs. Lloyd returned. Mr. Armenta has stepped in to give me peace of mind, and address the immediate problem. Like I said I highly recommend this firm..

They do not care about you ,if you ask or question them Mr.Lloyd will go crazy and call you stupid ,refuse to appeal any medical denials from the Ins company for medical treatment. After he is done putting you down then Mr. and Mrs.Lloyd will tell you to to pick up your file and find another Lawyer knowing no one will take your case.I was told when Mrs.Lloyd's father ran the law firm he was one of the best lawyers in the desert, but since they took it over it is now the worst. They have had to move into A smaller office and you they are never available to speak to.I took Mr.Lloyd's advice,I settled my case and when it was to late I found out I receive nothing and I have to pay back my Ins and medicare for body parts that I never claimed, but they received full payment for service that left me with nothing. Please do not make my mistake.

Before I hired Martin as my attorney, my previous lawyer would not return calls, respond to legal forms, help find a doctor, make sure my temporary disability checks continued, etc. When I met Martin, I was desperate for help. I was lost and had no where to turn. Martin was kind, compassionate, knowledgeable, and most of all understanding. He took control of my case and got results immediately. I felt protected and well represented. He responded to any questions or concerns within 24 hours even on weekends. He made sure I had QME and AMEs with respected doctors. He would take action if he was not getting the results from the workers' compensation company. He would not hesitate to file a claim in court if he thought it was appropriate and necessary. When it came time to settle my case, he gave me sound advice and told me to hold out for more money. Even though I was tempted to settle immediately because of financial hardship, I followed his advice and now live as well as I did before my injury. I will recommend Martin to any person who needs a workers' compensation attorney, even if they must drive far for him. I will always be thankful to Martin and his staff for all they have done for me at time when I thought I had no hope. Thank you forever, Martin. Marcie.

There were times I was crying and times I was angry because of the pain I was in, yet they always remained calm, professional and genuinely cared about my medical issues. Larry helped me settle my case as soon as the doctors completed their work. I am extremely pleased with him and his staff.

I feel that having Ms Borg represent me was the biggest mistake I have made in my life. My case was with the City of Palo Alto where I was a Firefighter and a Paramedic of 20 years. In my effort to fight for my benefits after 20 years of service to the CPA Ms Borg was worse than useless. I could never get a hold of her. Always felt like she was not trying, just going through the motions. It took 5 and one half years to get in front of a Judge, 5 1/2 YEARS. The settlement that I got for myself was better than the one she suggested I take. I need a new shoulder joint, yes a shoulder joint replacement that she failed to get me. She advised me to take 25K$ with no benefits of any kind. The day I finally get in front of a Judge she tells me. Whatever happens today is it. She will not represent me anymore and I should take the 25K$, my arm that does not work and hurts like hell and go away. Oh she will take her cut $$$ first. Now I am the one dealing with the Cities Lawyer as she sits there. I have to deal with this and think great now I have to get another Lawyer if I do not take what the City wants to give me. FIVE PLUS YEARS and she is just sitting there silent. The City Lawyer says anything over 50K will have to be approved by the City Council and we will have to continue this . Now Sue will not do anything anymore, I will have to find a New Lawyer at this point. I do not live in the area anymore. Its been 5 1/2 years of nothing. I have a right arm I can not lift up high enough to brush my teeth with pain that is about to be the end of me. I will never be able to work as a Firefighter or Paramedic again, I am disabled with several injuries both physical and mental and she gives me the big, F_U after 5 +years I get 48k$ in a settlement and no benefits, The city wins, I can not keep fighting when my Lawyer is doing nothing, no x-rays, no mri. Just straight up nothing. So I end up getting screwed and making money for my Lawyer. She would have gotten 12%, I think it was of 25K$ I got her approx 12% of 48K$ I get her more money for screwing me after 5 1/2 years I guess that is the insult added to the injury.. It is , or was for me. Very hard to find a Lawyer at the time of my life that I was injured the stress was killing me. I took Sue because she was recommended by a Lawyer who had too much work with several other cases of Firefighters having legal issues with the City of Palo Alto ( CPA is one evil sh-t hole). It is very important that you get a good Lawyer, very, very important. I had a gut feeling after about 2 years that I should maybe find another Lawyer but, after 2 years you have time invested, etc I can not recommend Ms Borg to anyone. I would tell you the opposite. RUN THE OTHER WAY!! My email address is

I had an unresponsive worker's comp attorney, and it was a nightmare. I switched to Susan Borg's office mid-case, and she was fabulous. I have used her twice now, for 2 very serious injuries. Susan and her staff have been responsive to my needs in a timely manner. When difficult, stressful issues have come up with the insurance adjusters, Susan and staff have been on top of everything, getting the insurance companies to comply. She has felt like a personal advocate for my cases, with me all the way. The settlement processes went smoothly, with a satisfactory outcome. Susan knows her stuff. She has decades of experience, and is well known for fighting for injured worker's rights. When you have been injured at work, then cannot work, are in pain, needing surgery, etc., your world has been turned upside down, and you can be left feeling very vulnerable and overwhelmed. That's how I felt. Susan Borg made me feel like she really had my back. And she did. The confusing mazes of the worker's comp system were in her competent hands, and I didn't have to worry about it. Which allowed me to focus on healing while Susan dealt with the adjusters. Susan Borg has been, and is still, my attorney, for about 15 years now. She is an entirely competent, knowledgeable, responsive, caring attorney who will work hard for your case.

I placed my trust in Ms. Borg after being injured for the third time in the same workplace and I was provided with a fair and very decent settlement thanks to her handling of my case. Ms. Borg has valuable experience I believe, due to her dedication to Workers Comp law which is always subject to change. I absolutely recommend that any injured worker seek professional representation. Ms. Borg is absolutely well qualified because she simply "knows her stuff." If you have never retained a lawyer before, you need to know that it is important to be completely honest with your attorney and if you don't get a call back or the information you seek, call back! Ask questions until you understand! Workers Comp lawyers handle tons of cases and they are busy people. I often had questions and concerns about my rights, procedures, benefits, etc. after being injured in the workplace and my phone calls and emails were consistently answered or addressed. In addition, I would like to add that Ms. Borg and her staff are easy to communicate with and know the kinds of issues injured workers have! I was always treated with respect, kindness, and in the end, a very satisfactory outcome. I give Susan Borg and her firm 2 big thumbs up and a whole lot of my personal gratitude for all the positive work they did in my behalf.

Mr. Real was very helpful in taking care of my case. I was permanently injured in September of 2010 and after 4 years of minimal to no medical treatment, Mr. Real was able to finally get me approved for treatment. For a year, he was able to get the ball rolling for me medically and also conclude my case with Disneyland. He was always very helpful, empathetic, and flexible to my busy schedule. He's fee's were a portion of my settlement, which I found incredibly reasonable, especially for all of the work he did. Now, I will say that there were times where I didn't feel there was progress that was being made and there were times where I felt I had to check in quite often. Overall, though, we got the resolution and a settlement I was satisfied with. Going up again Disneyland was something I had hoped would never happen, but unfortunately had to go down that path. The final day where I had to meet with the Disney Lawyers, Alfred stayed by my side, comforted me, guided me, and reassured me throughout the entire process. April, his secretary (or assistant) was also very friendly and helpful.

I am a permanently injured nurse. I retained Mr. Real a year and a half ago to settle my case. I had a QME in December 2014. After multiple phone calls, including recent attempts x 9 Mr. Real does not return my calls. Mr. Real's staff are not law clerks and have little if no knowledge of my case, they appear to only take and give Mr. Real messages. I have attempted to request Mr. Real settle my case for 10 months he will not. I now have to file a dismissal of Mr. Real as my attorney with the California state worker's compensation board and file a formal complaint with the California Bar association. Mr. Real is very charismatic, tells you what you want to hear, and then in my case has not worked for me as he promised. Mr. Real is not a man of his word. Mr. Real is lazy and incompetent. All I can say is do not retain Mr. Real as your attorney based on my unfortunate experience. Mr. Real has caused me significant distress. After being injured catastrophically no worker should have to endure this. Mr. Real is suppose to advocate and represent you as a client not do you additional harm; that being in addition to what I or you have already sustained as an industrial injured worker. I wish you the best. Don't be a victim twice and hire Mr. Real.

We don't know how this attorney is still practicing law. Client has been the subject of potential stalking; being disallowed from communicating or asking questions. Allegedly, this attorney has breached "The implied covenant of good faith and fair dealings--breaching the contract of attorney-client representation; has attempted to coerce client to to sign a substitution of attorney to show that client terminated the contract when it was the attorney who communicated that he was withdrawing from the case, because the client called him outside of unreasonable time parameters that attorney had recently enacted within much less than 30 days. Attorney has committed so much more maleficence, committing harm to client's conscience with evil intentions and hate, but client will defer. Any fees that this Guy would try to collect from client, if the court deem proper, would be "Unconscionable Fees".

I chose Mauro Fiore Jr law firm because he mentions that he cares for his clients. He said his staff is “experienced, courteous, and knowledgeable.” I soon discovered that my experience would be the inverse and contrary to how he represents himself and his staff to be according to his website. In the whole first month, I had one telephone conversation with his Associate Yolanda Torres. I called to her for information on my case, and to let her know about my pain. I wanted legal advice and left numerous messages for her. Not once did she return a phone call. I felt totally disrespected and after receiving reassurance from my husband, I walked into the office unannounced. I literally had to demand attention from her. The Office Staff were unbelievably rude and treated my husband and I as if we were the problem and not them. If not for Veronica Barraza, my negotiator, I would never have stayed with this office. What Yolanda Torres, Mauro Fiore and the Office Staff personnel never realized, was that my husband had been the liaison for Keisel, Boucher and Larson – the Counsel for 508 Victims of Clergy Abuse. He was picked by the Victims’ Attorney Firms to personally negotiate with Roger Mahony the settlement that resulted in $660 million dollars being awarded to the most aggrieved victims of horrific abuse. My husband Doug understands the value of empathy and knows that it is essential to treat every client with dignity. His mantra has always been “Everybody Counts or Nobody Counts”. My husband advised me to communicate my dissatisfaction to Mr. Fiore directly. I proceeded to leave a message on his voicemail expecting a response. I received nothing. Not even a return phone call from Mr. Fiore. I never heard from Mauro Fiore or Yolanda Torres again. I called, and called, and left messages with the front desk, and on her voicemail, but to no avail. Again after 3 months of therapy, I called to let her know that I was discharged from my therapy sessions and for her to start collecting my bills and start negotiations. November came, and I still had not received one phone call from her or the office. Finally my husband expressed how stunning it was that the Principal Attorney had never taken the time to answer my call. It was apparent that Mr. Fiore and Ms. Torres had no respect whatsoever for their own client (ME - his wife), and we both decided to go to the office unannounced to get some action. Shockingly, the front Office blamed us for their own lack of respect and one woman actually told us that “they did not care about our business”. It was then we found out that Ms. Torres no longer handled my case. Is it so hard to pick up the phone after hundreds of calls from her client to let me know that? She has no respect and knowledge of how to handle a client. Finally, the only knowledgeable and trustworthy person stepped in at that time. This was Veronica Barraza. She was pleasant and kept her word. I believe she tried hard to get the best results for me. Unfortunately, in the end, Mr. Fiore did not even have the class to apologize for anything or even introduce himself to me or my husband. The Office Staff displayed extreme ignorance when my husband mentioned that he was going to post a poor review of their performance on Avvo. Upon hearing the word “AVVO” they looked dumfounded and needed us to inform them about AVVO. They didn’t even know what you guys do. I wonder why Mauro Fiore’s employees leave so soon after they start.

After some thirty years of nursing it finally happened, I was helping a partially paralyzed patient to his wheelchair ; when he slipped I caught him and felt a pull in my back. Two days later I could barely walk. MRI revealed herniated disc. Coworkers advised me to get a lawyer. When i first Mr. Scher he listened to my story, He told me I did not need a lawyer, that my company would take care of me. When the hospital's insurance company denied my claim I returned to Mr. Scher, he immediately went to work for me, told me not to worry, he would take care of everything. To make a long story short, when the insurance co. wanted to give me a partial settlement Mr. Scher went to battle mode. He got me a full settlement with more money than I thought, and he got the insurance company to provide me medical care for any issues, or problems I may encounter in the future related to my work injury. When you are injured you NEED an experienced attorney. I would recommend Jerry Scher to anyone . He wiill get you results. Just remember this is a process, you have to be patient, and trust your attorney.

After having difficulty finding an attorney. I contacted Dixon & Daley and spoke with Kaitlin. After explaining my situation, without hesitation she agreed to help me. I am truly at a loss of words to express my gratitude and thankfulness for everything that Kaitlin did for me. As an attorney she was very knowledgeable in my Workmen’s Comp. situation. She helped me through every step of the way. It was really an effort less situation for me, because Kaitlin took care of everything for me. I simply needed to just focus on the injuries that I suffered and getting well. She was always there for every question that I had, she always responded to me in a very timely manner. She showed compassion towards me and of course professionalism.. I truly cannot thank Kaitlin enough for all that she did for me during this time. I would recommend Kaitlin 100% to anyone that needs a Workmen’s Comp. attorney. You will not be disappointed. I would also like to think her assistant Josie. Josie was such a wonderful help as well. Every time I spoke with her she was kind, compassionate, and very helpful. “I want to say thank you Josie as well for all your help and kindness.”

I am definitely unsatisfied with the service I received as Paul Dixon's client in a workers' compensation case. Ultimately I became so unhappy with the level of service I was receiving that I elected to change attorneys, and had a dramatically better experience with another office. Some details are below for those who want to read further. Bottom line: it was clear to me this is a volume office, and your case may well be left at the "bottom of the stack." I suggest you look elsewhere. Some Specifics: (1) There was a lack of follow-up in communication with other parties involved. This was a constant, and my case was repeatedly allowed to sit waiting longer than was necessary, sometimes by weeks on end. In these instances, it was only when I started calling myself to check status and request action that the process was moved forward. (2) Poor customer service. Several issues here: (a) When attempting to get advice over the phone, it was at times difficult to get contact directly with the attorney. Further, when I did have a conversation, it was rushed and the attorney was clearly trying to spend as little time as possible with me before moving on to his next issue. To be fair, this did not occur every time, but was a repeat issue. (b) I was not notified in advance that a different attorney at the office would be handling my deposition. I can understand the decision to have another attorney at the office handle that part of the process, however to walk into a situation like that unaware was unacceptable to me. This introduced questions in my mind immediately before a deposition about whether this other attorney was briefed on my case, who I was actually represented by, etc. Although the other attorney did the job well enough, being caught off guard with that scenario introduced more stress into an already unpleasant situation. This could have been avoided with a simple email notification in advance - something I'd expect in even basic business communications, let alone in a legal matter. (c) Inappropriate attitude on the part of some staff. The paralegal handling my case had a customer service attitude I'll describe gently as REALLY short of the mark for a professional office. As time wore on and it was necessary to follow up with this office repeatedly, her attitude worsened, eventually becoming outright rude. (3) A filing mistake made by this office immediately before I changed representation opened the door for opposition to string the case out even longer, which they of course did. This added another couple of months to an already drawn-out case. In other instances when I've had legal representation (including the office I changed to after leaving Dixon & Daley), that representation was professional & courteous, stayed on top of every deadline and process point, and made sure I was fully informed every step of the way. This was absolutely NOT the case with Dixon & Daley, and for my part I suggest you look elsewhere. -- Best of luck

I have the upmost respect and gratitude for Mr. Winter for his expertise in helping me with a very challenging workman's compensation lawsuit. He and his staff are highly competent and very knowledgeable about navigating the legal system. I was completely cared for and could not have asked for more.

As an overall review of my attorney I'm still UN SURE... Is very hard to find federal work comp attorneys I'm not sure of other attorneys that are in the San Diego area. I believe Mr. Winter happens to know his laws since he's been an attorney for quite some time of 27 some years , he says. On the other hand far as his mannerism , how he treats you as a client is Somewhat Different. My case has gone to trial here recently and I'm waiting to hear the outcome. I've even had some discussions with him and his office of his mannerism towards me and not even having consideration on my feelings I've never had an attorney ask you to leave their office when things get to be questionable on his in on when you're trying to ask a question on what he thinks what will happen more or less, when you tell him that you don't feel welcomed as a client. When you call the office the receptionist seems mopey over the phone wore out and basically seems like you're Bothering them"""". I've tried reaching him for the last two weeks he had not returned my phone call I'm trying to figure out what my status is of this case. And further medical conditions that I've had which are leading to treatments which I have a feeling he may need to know about. I've been denied Social Security no income for 4 years. I was thinking of asking him for a Social Security Attorney but after his mannerism I think I rather look for one of my own. As I walked into the office today to drop off medical paperwork. I asked the receptionist if he was free he came out to the office. I told him if he had a couple minutes I would like to talk to him, he rolled his eyes and I went into his office I told him that I wanted to talk to him behind closed doors .I have a feeling he didn't think this was going to be going very well. I told him that I tried to talk to the receptionist for the last 2 weeks on trying to get in touch with him. He had not returned my call when I confronted him about this he told me don't even come in to the office as a stop by like it was a bother or I was unwelcomed. I do not think that is very professional as a lawyer. I have had a couple of lawyers in the past and I've never seen any mannerism like this. There been two accounts before which we got into arguments because of his Misunderstanding and not letting me give out the information that I wanted to give him on my Medical Conditions. There is also been 2 accounts when he's asked me to leave his office. Once was even two days prior before my trial. I feel when you question ??Mr. Winter and things don't go his way he tends to show you the door . I have an understanding that he did not want to go to trial. If I were looking for an attorney I will be looking for an attorney who makes you feel welcomed, let you know what's going on, sympathy or consideration of your medical and psychological abilities. More or less not leaving you and the dark dark, having to defend for yourself and try to figure out what's going on. Consideration return a phone call and not having to wait 2 weeks or more and having to call again because he hasn't returned your phone call.

Mr. Calderone handled a complicated personal injury case for me. I lived rather far away, and it was helpful that he agreed to work mostly by phone. He was always polite, supportive and informative. I especially liked how he explained his strategy as we progressed; his passion for his work was obvious. Andrew was able to negotiate a large settlement and even went to the trouble of contacting creditors/lien holders to see if they would settle for less than I owed.

I was real glad to have been referred to Ben. I felt as I was with an honest firm. The doctors I was sent to were very ethical and honest, which meant a lot to me. Yes, my case may have taken a few years, that is out of our control, and it is just a drawn out process. I like Ben, he was laid back, and knew his work. I felt comfortable working with him, and I know I was not dealing with Shyster, and unethical doctors. Thanks again Ben for believing in me , and helping me. It was more then appreciated. Tammie

Thank you Ben and his secretary Brenda for a very positive outcome on my case, I was in doubt when this Law firm first accepted my case 18 months ago, it took forever to get things moving and as for getting anyone to answer the phone or return a phone call, it was impossible, that was until my case was given to Ben about 8 months ago, he answered all of my questions promptly, allayed any concerns I had and was extremely helpful. Thank you Ben and Brenda

I have been working with this lawyer for several different cases and he nor his law firm has done much to help me. No return calls, no appointments. I believe that he is working with the other side and the money is split between the two. That is my honest opinion. I am in the process of hiring new counsel to help in my workers comp claim as well as a malpractice suit and to represent me against this firm. Its terrible how they work, their ethics is just bad business and the top lawyer there, Ronald F. is no better than the people he hire. He is suppose to be one of the top lawyers in the country and he train other lawyers, defense and others but what about the ones in your office. There are clowns working in this office, you can't get through to anyone, when you ask for your lawyer, the send you to someone else and they don't know anything at all. I think this is the worst firm I have come across.

Mr. Carnero was hired as my attorney when I was being charged with street terrorism (gang enhancement) and did marvelous job. Before taking my case he came to visit me at West Valley and assured me that he would get my charges dropped and that's exactly what he did. I was then able to get a reduced sentence. Well worth the money.

We had paid Mr. Carnero to help with expungement of a case from 1998. Over the course of about 3 years, we are still in the same spot from which we started. He would come back with reasons he could not do it, and every time we would provide information showing we had fixed what he asked. He stated that there was a warrant which we knew nothing about. It was paid that day and he would still say that it was not completed when he had the receipt in his file. When we went in the last time, he pointed the blame at us stating that we had not called, and we took too long. This was after failed appointments on Mr. Carnero's behalf and not returning calls as well. He didn't have the case information in front of him, so when we reminded him of the case he didn't look up once from his phone. What was more important that your client that you could not put your phone away for 5-10 minutes?? He then kicked us out of his office since he clearly had no answers for us. He has taken our money and never completed what was asked of him. He will not sign a substitution of Attorney form nor provide us our case file. We will be filing a direct complaint with the California State Law Board as well. He is extremely rude and incompetent in performing the task in which he claims he can do for his clientele. Save your money and DO NOT HIRE THIS MAN!

She helped my ex husband take my children from me and deny me hundreds of thousands of dollars I was entitled to because I was supposedly “on drugs” which were antidepressants but they made me “crazy”. The truth is I had no lawyer and was misdiagnosed by said ex husband as bipolar and was on many meds I never should have been on for nearly 2 decades. I am now off all meds (minus a mild prescription allergy med that is stronger than OTCs but doesn’t make me drowsy.) except maybe an occasional Aleve for neck and spinal arthritis. I am owed well over $150,000 that she managed to manipulate me out of. Now I find out she’s DISBARRED!?!? My ex has had a talent of finding exceptional women. I admit I wasn’t a gem. But Guerin??? And his current wife??? Either one are way worse than I ever was. He has always had a nose for crazy b*******.

IT WAS EMOTIONAL AND TERRIBLE. I HAD TO RETAIN ANOTHER ATTORNEY TO HANDLE MY LEGAL MATTERS Of FACT, I PAID HER ALMOST 10, 000 DOLLARS FOR PRACTICALLY DOING NOTHING. WHEN I MET WITH HER AND POINTED OUT HER BROKEN PROMISES ON MY CASE I WITNESSED ANOTHER SIDE OF HER TRUE PERSONALITY. SHE COMES ACROSS CARING AND NICE, BUT AFTER SHE GET A RETAINER AND YOU'RE BAITED SHE DOES NOTHING. WRITE USELESS LETTERS, MAKE PJONE CALLS AND NOTHING MORE. I COULD GO ON, BUT JUST DO YOUR DUE DILIGENCE. AS I STATED, THE NEW ATTORNEY, DID THE WORK AND FOLLOWED THROUGH ON HER COMMITMENTS AND SETTLE THE CASE WHICH WENT TOTALLY IN MY FAVOR. I WOULD NEVET RECOMMEND HER OFFICE TO REPRESENT ANYONE. THANK God SOMEONE REFERRED ME TO A LAW FIRM TRULY BASED ON PROFESSIONALISM. I FILED A ETHICS COMPLAINT. I COULD GO ON, BUT JUST MAKE SURE YOU GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING AND DEADLINES EVERY STEP OF THE WAY. WATCH OUT FOR HER CONSTANT LETTER WRINGS AND TELEPJONE CALLS, WHICH WERE UNNECESSARY.

I hired this lawyer George Slotnick without imagining how I was going to get treated by phone with his secretaries were always rude, said they would return my phone calls but never did, I was never sent to an orthopedic, never received treatment ( never sent me to doctors ) his secretaries said I would give them a tough time, I am the one paying them , their working on my case in which they would receive a certain percentage off of, I WAS THE ONE GETTING THE TOUGH TIME, and George Slotnick like lawyer THE WORST, think before soliciting his services/work I say it from heart, he lied to me about my case, saying he did not remember certain things, lets be specific at trial before entering the room he said that the defendants attorneys were too powerful and there was not much he could do, are you serious? Your a lawyer, and your suppose to defend my case and this is what you tell me that DAY OF TRIAL?! & when I questioned him about that a little less than a year later he said he NEVER said that? Why would I lie about that? & from heart I say look at whom your leaving your case to. Just take a look at his office, No sign that a lawyer works there, windows covered, small place, frames in his 'meeting office' on the floor, like he's hiding. WORST of THE WORST honestly. a rate from 0-10, zero would be too much for him. I hope these lines, these words will help someone to avoid to go through what I went through, my experience.

This is the worlds worst lawyer ever. He won't answer your calls, keep you informed on your case with letters or phone calls, their liars, they will call you a liar to your face, they will tell you they don't care to your face, oh and if you tell them your not the only one with a complaint, they blame the complains they have on peoples unsettled cases unhappiness. They don't do any work an lawyer should do as far as investigating and calling people on your behalf etc. They are rude, and will only set phone appointments to talk to your lawyer for a month later. When you do get to talk to George he doesn't have anything to say, or any answers to your questions. He just dances around your questions like hes in a ball room. The front desk people have been known to be a hassle and supposably have been replaced , but with even ruder people. NEVER HIRE THIS MAN AS YOUR LAWYER!! HIS OFFICE SUCKS!

My case was complicated (in my mind), but I trusted Mr. Roe wholeheartedly to do his job and represent me to his fullest ability. He knows the law and he knows his cases. Afterall, he doesn't get paid until and unless there is a settlement. So I took a step back and did as advised. I was kept informed, step by step. What an amazing settlement. What a Workers’ Compensation Lawyer Can Do for You

A workers’ compensation lawyer specializes in helping employees who are injured or become ill as a result of their job to receive the benefits they are entitled to under workers' compensation laws. These lawyers represent injured workers in claims for medical benefits, wage replacement, and other compensation related to workplace injuries or illnesses. They also help when claims are denied, benefits are delayed, or disputes arise with the employer or the insurance company.

Whether you've been injured on the job, developed an occupational illness, or are dealing with a denied workers' compensation claim, a workers’ compensation lawyer can help you navigate the claims process and ensure you receive the full benefits you deserve.

When Should I Hire a Workers' Compensation Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a workers' compensation lawyer in several situations, especially when complications arise during the claims process or when your rights as an injured worker are being challenged. Some common reasons to hire a workers' compensation lawyer include:

  • Claim denial: If your workers' compensation claim has been denied, a lawyer can help you appeal the decision and represent you in hearings or litigation.
  • Inadequate benefits: If the insurance company offers you a settlement that doesn’t cover your medical expenses, lost wages, or other damages, a lawyer can negotiate on your behalf for a fair amount.
  • Delay in receiving benefits: If your benefits are being delayed, a lawyer can help expedite the process to ensure you receive timely compensation.
  • Permanent disability: If your injury leads to permanent disability (partial or total), a lawyer can help you navigate the more complex process of securing long-term benefits.
  • Retaliation by employer: If your employer retaliates against you for filing a workers' compensation claim (e.g., by firing or demoting you), a lawyer can protect your rights and pursue legal action.
  • Third-party liability: If a third party (e.g., a contractor or equipment manufacturer) was responsible for your injury, a lawyer can help you pursue additional compensation through a personal injury lawsuit.
  • Pre-existing conditions: If your employer or the insurance company claims that your injury is related to a pre-existing condition, a lawyer can help you present evidence showing that the injury was work-related.

Hiring a lawyer early in the process can prevent delays, avoid mistakes, and ensure you receive all the benefits you’re entitled to under workers' compensation law.

What Does a Workers' Compensation Lawyer Do?

A workers' compensation lawyer provides a range of legal services to injured workers, ensuring that they receive the benefits they deserve. Their tasks often include:

  • Filing claims: Helping injured workers prepare and file their workers' compensation claims to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Appealing denied claims: Representing workers whose claims have been denied and guiding them through the appeals process, including hearings and court appearances.
  • Negotiating settlements: Negotiating with insurance companies to secure fair compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and other damages.
  • Handling disputes: Resolving disputes between the injured worker, the employer, and the insurance company regarding the amount of compensation or the nature of the injury.
  • Coordinating medical evidence: Gathering and presenting medical records, expert testimony, and other evidence to support the workers' compensation claim.
  • Advocating for benefits: Ensuring that injured workers receive all the benefits they’re entitled to, including temporary or permanent disability benefits, vocational rehabilitation, and medical treatment.
  • Filing third-party lawsuits: In cases where a third party is responsible for the injury, a workers' compensation lawyer may also pursue a personal injury lawsuit to recover additional damages.

How Are Workers’ Compensation Lawyers Paid?

Workers' compensation lawyers typically charge a contingency fee, meaning they only get paid if they successfully recover benefits for you. This fee is usually a percentage of the benefits awarded, and the specific percentage is often regulated by state law. Here's how it generally works:

  • Contingency fee: The lawyer's fee is typically between 15% and 25% of the total benefits awarded to you. You don’t have to pay any upfront legal fees, and the lawyer’s fee comes out of the settlement or benefit award.
  • No fee if no recovery: If the lawyer doesn’t recover any benefits for you, you generally don’t have to pay for their services.
  • State regulations on fees: Many states cap the percentage that workers' compensation lawyers can charge, and some states require the fee to be approved by the workers' compensation board or judge.

Be sure to discuss the fee structure with your lawyer during the initial consultation to understand how much you will owe if your case is successful.

How Much Does a Workers' Compensation Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a workers' compensation lawyer typically depends on the contingency fee arrangement, meaning the lawyer’s fee will be a percentage of the benefits you receive. General cost estimates include:

  • Contingency fees: Most workers' compensation lawyers charge between 15% and 25% of the total settlement or benefits awarded. For example, if you receive $50,000 in benefits, the lawyer’s fee would range from $7,500 to $12,500.
  • State regulations: Some states limit the percentage that workers' compensation lawyers can charge. In these cases, the fee is usually capped, often at 20% to 25%, depending on state law.
  • Additional costs: Some lawyers may charge for out-of-pocket expenses, such as filing fees, medical records retrieval, and expert witness testimony, though these costs are typically deducted from the settlement after the case is won.

You should always ask for a clear explanation of fees and potential additional costs during your consultation so you understand the financial arrangement.

Top Questions to Ask a Workers' Compensation Lawyer

Before hiring a workers' compensation lawyer, it’s important to ask the right questions to ensure they are the best fit for your case. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with workers' compensation cases?
Ensure the lawyer has experience handling cases similar to yours, especially if your injury is severe or the case involves disputes.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges a contingency fee and whether there are any additional costs you need to be aware of.
  3. What is the likelihood of success in my case?
Ask for an honest assessment of your case, including the potential challenges and outcomes.
  4. Have you handled cases like mine before?
Find out if the lawyer has experience dealing with cases involving similar injuries or disputes, such as denied claims or permanent disability.
  5. How long will the process take?
While it’s difficult to predict an exact timeline, the lawyer should be able to provide a general estimate based on their experience with similar cases.
  6. Will you personally handle my case?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may handle parts of your case. Make sure you know who will be working on your claim.

How to Check the Credibility of a Workers' Compensation Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable workers' compensation lawyer, follow these steps to verify their credentials and track record:

  • Verify their bar status: Check with your state bar association to confirm that the lawyer is licensed and in good standing, with no disciplinary actions against them.
  • Look for workers' compensation experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in workers' compensation law and have successfully handled cases similar to yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for client reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s expertise and service.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their experience in workers' compensation cases.
  • Check for professional affiliations: Membership in organizations like the Workers' Injury Law & Advocacy Group (WILG) or local bar association committees on workers' compensation can indicate the lawyer’s commitment to this area of law.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most out of your first consultation with a workers' compensation lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Accident report or incident documentation: Bring any documentation related to your workplace injury or illness, including accident reports or notifications to your employer.
  • Medical records: Provide copies of medical records, including treatment notes, doctor’s reports, and any information related to your injury or condition.
  • Employer correspondence: Bring any letters, emails, or forms related to your claim from your employer or the workers' compensation insurance company.
  • Wage and benefits information: Provide information on your wages, benefits, and any lost income due to the injury.
  • List of questions: Prepare questions about your case, the process, costs, and what to expect moving forward.
  • Timeline of events: Prepare a timeline of the incident, your injury, and any medical treatment or communication with your employer and the insurance company.

Being well-prepared for your consultation will allow the lawyer to assess your case more effectively and provide you with the best possible legal advice.
