This association does NOT have their clients best interest at heart. They never return calls. I have had a work comp case open with him since 2007. I haven't even been reimbursed for my mileage to doctor appts (that they and SCIF ) scheduled & expenses for my prescriptions reimbursed. I'm still having medical issues and missing work due to these issues and NO ONE FROM THIS OFFICE RESPONDS!

Paul Johnson has let my Workers Compensation case drag on for almost 4 years. I have recently fired him and hired a more QUALIFIED attorney. His assistant Teresa Martinez couldn't find her ass with her hands. She has lied and misled me on many issues, Both Johnson & Martinez have handled my case poorly. AVOID Paul Johnson and seek more dependable representation.

Mr. Johnson is very thorough, precise, and kept me informed throughout my case. The System is painfully slow, and delays are inevitable, particularly in the workers comp arena. Mr. Johnson has a high volume practice, and is not always available because he is in Court, or depositions. I would recommend him and I have 17 years paralegal experience, 4 in Southern California. He was wonderful and he settled my case surprisingly early! Bravo Paul Johnson!

At the end he will not fight for you, or even bother to answer your calls, and he will turn you into the system. These are my experiences, thank you for reading, good luck.

Everything that has been stated is 100% true. I was with these crooks for 5 years. I finally fired them, Fred was going after the wrong insurance Co. for that amount of time. To finish, Fred and Manda had siphoned off every last cent they could from my case, and not knowing this, I couldn't hire another attorney. I would be more than happy, to go after these crooks in criminal court.. I kept all my paper work Lyle Dam

This attorney is a joke, he never returns any phone calls and dose not keep you informed what so ever. I've tried so many times to get an appointment with him to discuss my case and I always get the same answer, leave your name and number and we'll be in touch....you guess it...never a return phone call or letter. Please do not use this attorney you would be better off with Charles Manson then him.

Mr. Jerry C. Chang was hired by me in December of 2014 for a personal injury Worker's Compensation case. I only met with him briefly, two times during 2015 to provide him with information about my injury. I never received any returned phone calls or written correspondence from him or from his office staff from March 2015 to June 2016. I have called his office and spoke with paralegals who informed me each time from March 2015 to June 2016 that he wasn't in and that a message would be given to him. I am disappointed and feel that I have been scammed, mistreated, tricked, disrespected, and mislead. Mr. Chang did not provide professional services on my case. I would not recommend him.

I hired a specific law firm which sublet my case to the firm of which Mr. Chang belongs. He was assigned to my case as the attorney of record. I never met him personally, & he failed to call me even once during the course of my case to discuss anything about it. He didn't show up to any hearings. Others did in his place. Every time I called his office to enquire of my case since he never called me, I got a different person & response about what I was calling about. I received a CD copy of my case file, & more than half the physical documented evidence I provided him to prove my position, isn't even listed in the evidence list. His people allowed the defense to dominate the trial with nothing but 'hearsay' testimony with no physical evidence to support their position, & the judge found this hearsay testimony more credible than my documented factual evidence. His office 'Misrepresented' & lied to me about having to testify as his office called me to verify a trial date, whereas I was informed I wouldn't have to testify, yet on the day of trial, I was in fact called before the judge to testify. Since I was informed I wouldn't testify, I came unprepared w/o any of my case paper work whereas I couldn't provide physical evidence to prove my testimony, thus making me appear uncredible which caused me to lose my case. Upon case loss, he sent me a case loss notice, & that he wouldn't appeal my case. He lost my case, left me in limbo, and didn't appeal. It seems it's a, "if you win, great, if not, ooh well' next case please" firm. I would not recommend him, or his firm at all. One cannot win a case if the assigned attorney of record, never involves the client in the process, & never 'communicates' with the client, and doesn't even appeal the loss.

This lawyer, or divo lawyer, is the most arrogant, unprofessional, and disrespectful attorney that I have ever seen all my life. We went for a consultation, and he treated us very bad, he didn't have the patience to deal with a worker that is nervous about his future. He interrupted is and corrected is in a very arrogant way and in less than 15 minutes he told us that he is not interested in represent us. My worst experience ever at a law office I won't recommend this person to no one, and every where I step I gonna tell everyone how awful he is.

This attorney and his staff are horrible at taking care of urgent and time sensative matters and never call back when they advise they will. There is no ugency with this staff and unfortunately the attorney seems liek he is more interested in a quick open and shut claim for the quick dollar rather than prepare for a long dog fight that most of these WC cases demand. I do not suggest ANYONE use this attorney and I feel he should close his doors to prevent anyone being fooled and having the case ruined because of untimely responses

I filed a WC claim 4 years ago. Files were lost and there was poor communication with case coordinators. One attorney was on the case for 2 years. Then he left the firm. Another attorney was assigned to the case for 4 months. He left the firm. Then I was assigned a hearing representative for a few months. There were problems with him. I was assigned another attorney. That's where I am now. The current attorney is not following through with my requests. This same attorney flirted with the trial judge and gave the trial judge wrong information about my case. The judge laughed at me. I am fed up with this firm. They are trying force me to settle for an unknown amount with my former employer and not pay me for future medical for all of my injuries.

My husband and I was referred to Glauber Berenson. We hired them thinking they are well organized and would represent us well. They have very poor follow up; they take forever to respond to client's emails and sometimes not respond at att and they barely provide status to clients. They wait for the client to ask them what's happening and what's going to happen next? They leave client hanging and guessing with no clear vision of the status of our case. We regret hiring this law office and wasted 4 years under their representation. We dismissed them. We are now represented by a new attorney and we seemed to be pleased.

I had to go to my own doctor's appointment because travelers would not set up my appointments and the law firm would not assist me on getting them. I had hired them and mostly spoke to, as i was corrected by their manager, their paralegal. And as she pointed out my charges stemmed from 30+ emails! Well if i had gotten responses the first time one email wouldn’t have led to another!! They also accused me of writing the “bad” reviews, which were just my opinion, in light of my bill. Which was not true either i had always thought of writing a review to let other people know of my experience so they can decide, seems i’m not the only one and i agree with all these other reviews. I was sent a quick email in response to my reviews asking me to take them down also threatening to sue me for incorrect title of their employed paralegal which i stated as a secretary, she answered the phones and responded to me the most in emails so i assumed. They had also mentioned payment arrangements and upon first payment settling for a lesser amount. It wasn’t about the money and as much as i was struggling from not working and trying to get my owcp case going it was never about the money. They got their whole amount through my work man’s comp. It was my idea given to me by the nurse at a kaiser workmans comp dept, to go with my initial complaints on my first visit. And that’s what i wanted was to add those to my case, which i got! Once i figured i could do this on my own I didn’t need them or their fees and it was a waste of my time waiting for them to respond. During this time i expected understanding and patience and sympathy, especially from a firm that knows how hard it is dealing with the Dept of labor and why you are having to deal with them. Yes i had a lot of questions and yes maybe i expected answers sooner rather than later but if i was told to be patient and had someone reach out to me versus me chasing a response i think it would of been different. Tho is not a “bad” review to get back at this company i just feel these high priced company’s sometimes are not the way to go for people like myself a single mom out of work all because someone ran a red light and hit me! i didn’t ask for that!! and maybe i expected a more sympathetic someone with a little pulse! I found one and she is out of state but very attentive over the phone!

I hired his firm because of Dan Goodkin who was referred to me by another attorney. However, I didn’t know they all work on the case including Mr. Brown. One day, I had a call with both attorney’s and Mr. Brown was the most rude and unprofessional attorney Ive ever experienced in my entire life. I am a former Federal Employee who was involved in whistleblowing case. The agency terminated my employment. I initially hired Mr. Brown's law firm, without doing my homework. But who really does in these matters. The firm seemed professional, had a flashy website boasting years of experience. I spoke to Mr. Brown, who assured me the case would take no more than 4-6 months and I would have my job back. 10 months into my MSPB appeal, his firm had charged me three times the normal attorney fees for such a case. (which I found out after firing his firm and hiring another firm in TX.) He was now resulting to using bullying tactics, threatening to drop my case if I would not settle with the Government for virtually nothing. I would strongly encourage anyone looking for representation to look elsewhere. A firm with this amount of professed experience, should be able from day one to give you a fair assessment and not be looking at your pocket book. It seemed at every turn the case was dragging on and fees growing exponentially. After hiring another firm my case was settled in less than 3 months to my satisfaction. I would stay far away from this firm.

Mr. Featherstone came into our retirement seminar put on by my union and represented himself as an expert in Workers Comp law. From the initial presentation and subsequent face to face I had with him, I decided to hire him. He is quite a salesman. But like most salesman he paints a picture only too good to be true. I knew I was in trouble with this guy when my deposition took place at his office and I looked over and noticed he was playing a game on his cell phone. I found this to be somewhat disconcerting but since I needed him I didn’t say anything. As the case progressed I found that contacting Mr. Featherstone via email was a snap. However getting a response was almost impossible. I provided him with photos and other information upon his request that was either lost or never used to benefit my case. His staff, or should I say the legal assistant he has working for him his no better. She is rude and claims she hasn’t received emails when in fact she responds to the original email sent and you can see that original message in the email chain. She’s argumentative and returns telephone calls and or emails........Sometimes. I needed to speak with Don once and had to make an appointment for a telephonic meeting planned two weeks in advance. My case has since closed and in my opinion Don “short sold” my case. I believe this was done because I was a problem client over the course of the 4 years he was my attorney. I was a problem because I let him know I didn’t appreciate his non responses to emails and voice messages. It’s very unprofessional to simply blow off a client but that seems to be commonplace in his practice. Is Don knowledgeable and intelligent? Absolutely he is. I believe him to be a quite capable attorney but the horrid treatment after you sign on the dotted line seems to over- shadow all his talents as a gifted lawyer. I resent the fact that my case was basically gifted back to the county so he could get paid. I resent not having emails returned or questions answered in a timely manner. Heck I’d of just been satisfied having my questions answered. If you are seeking a WC attorney please do your due diligence prior to hiring one. Read reviews and ask questions. Because once your claim has been settled and all the dust clears, you are the one left holding the bag. Don never gave me a feeling of safety and security and that he had my back, accept when he was touting his sales pitch. Good luck.

I have posted reviews everywhere I can regarding the lack of help and honesty you will get from him. I'm not the only one completely unsatisfied and with good reasons. Your first initial visit, he will charm you, promise you the moon, and bc you are in pain and desperate. He promised to help me with my appeal for my retirement free, as terms to taking on my case. He had 2 years to file a Dinding of Fact to CalPers. Then later after refusing to speak to me I was forced to contact the bar for a complaint. His response to the bar was that he never promised add me no such thing. I have 30 days left until my appeal expires and I lose my earned industrial retirement. I get half the pay I'm entitled to bc of him. I still haven't heard from him. Be careful whom you trust. It can cost you more than you know. Highly upset with him.

If you are looking for an attorney, do NOT choose Lilia Ballesteros. She is rude, unprofessional, incompetent, and just an awful person. I do not know how she passed the Bar exam, as she is not very intelligent. She is very disorganized. On top of it, she will blame you for not knowing laws or procedures. But, isn’t that why one hires an attorney in the first place? Please learn from my mistake and hire someone who is professional, caring, and at least educated on how to handle cases. Please avoid her at all costs.

I really didn't want to have to write a bad review, but I feel compelled to warn others of Mr. Maing's behavior. I was extremely disappointed in my experience with him. If you are going to hire him, PLEASE be prepared to constantly follow-up on given deadlines immediately once passed (and trust me when I say you will need to follow-up). And even then, expect your calls not to be returned. My calls were not returned until weeks later, and only after I actually spoke with his boss. This happened on more than 3 different occasions, so please remember to document your conversations well. But the saddest part was that when my calls were returned, there was an excuse not acknowledging that the ball was dropped. I was thinking that I was mistaken until I started taking notes during my conversations with him. Initially, It wasn't until then that I realized that I was being told one thing initially, then told something completely different later on. I had to have a very frank conversation with Mr. Maing and only then was he finally truthful about his errors. Unfortunately, this did not change his behavior. 6 months was wasted for a complaint that needed to be filed within a year of it actually happening. Perhaps with more experience, things may change

My experience has been painful with Attorney Edit Alexandryan. She files lawsuits for Persolve LLC, that have no merit, then fails to serve defendants, so that default judgments are obtained and people are basically robbed blind. Attorney Edit Alexandryan fails to verify debts for defendants, fails to provide discovery, and falsely inflates debts in an attempt to intimidate consumers. It makes me wonder what drove Edit to go to law school in the first place. She is not defending people from malpractice, and she's not prosecuting people guilty of crimes. Instead, she's chosen to work for a company that buys debts for pennies on the dollar and turn around and sue people (who may or may not be responsible for the debt) with little or no evidence, in order to make a quick and dirty profit for some bottom-feeding company. She is 33 yrs old and has been practicing law for a mere 6 yrs... but she's very capable of misusing the system. Shame on her and the family that raised her!

Perhaps the father Tom Boyle is a good attorney but his son Aaron is an exercise in futility and bang your head against the wall! He will not return calls, he will not want to see you, and he will not follow up on your case. He is just plain awful!!! My case had closed with lifetime medical by another attorney within their practice. The workers comp insurance approached me about closing my case after 15 years had passed this is how Aaron came to work on my case. It should have been easy. Unfortunately cases can sometimes take a wrong turn through no ones fault but you should always feel that your attorney is on your side representing your best interests and unfortunately at the very least in my particular situation it has not been the case. This pains me but the public should know this office needs help. As I stated the father may very well be a great attorney but after numerous calls I still can't get a coveted audience with either Aaron or his father, that's just plain crazy.

Thom is a very professional and kind man, however once you are established you will deal with Aaron, his son. He is very arrogant, uncompassionate and very unprofessional. You will need to call multiple times before you, thats if you, receive a returned call. He seems to be more for the other party than he is for you while demeaning you at the same time. Good luck trying to get pass Aaron to actually contact Thom when Aaron has treated you in a horrible manner. It will be prevented by Aaron, even if you fax a letter or leave a message to only speak with Thom. It is so very sad to see any business with a great reputation go the opposite way due to a father employing his own son that doesn't have the same care for the business. However, Thom still employs his son, Aaron, to only ruin the outstanding quality of service which Thom, himself, use to provide prior to Aaron assisting his clients.

This attorney has only one priority, his own personal life. My divorce case had nothing done on it for a year. I was handed off to another attorney at the last minute. There was no interrogatories, no discovery, no updates, no nothing. He claimed he was too stressed out from his own marriage problems to handle any of his clients. I lost everything, including my sought after 50/50 custody of my kids, all of my money, and I have to file bankruptcy. He has no malpractice insurance so no malpractice attorney would even look at what he had done. Next to my soon to be ex wife, he is the biggest mistake that I have ever made. I have all documentation and extensive notes to prove all.

Aaron Straussner received payment for a workers Comp settlement, 25-30%. After he received his payment, it's still customary to handle any difficulties with WC including treatments and medications. Mr Straussner refused to answer any correspondence requesting help for difficulties I was having with treatments and medication. All correspondence by WC was cc to him but he eventually told WC he doesn't represent me and to stop cc'ing him and take him off as my attorney of record. To this day, almost eight years since he received his payment, he has never replied to any letter of help I have sent him. I had great reservations writing this critique, but I'm considering filing a complaint with the CA Bar Association on Aaron Straussner's conduct. I have Firemen friends who's attorneys have continued to assist them after receiving their payment, I'm the only one who's attorney won't represent him.

If i could give his practice a 0 star, I would. He is a bs'er. He will talk about everything under the sun, then tag team is wife Angie to be the go between when the tough questions come. He also drags the case along so that he can get more money (for himself, that is) while leaving you with a lost case. I would say, NEVER USE WILLIAM R. ORR

Brian Clark is the most unethical attorney there is. He did nothing for 10 years in my Worker's Comp case, then suddenly got together with the opposing attorney and closed my case without my knowledge, consent or signature. The agreement he made was the worst possible to my case. It was the opposite of anything we had ever discussed. He never spoke to me about anything or explained why he sold me out. He also tried to get $30,000 more than his 15%. The law states that they cannot charge you more then 15% for all attorney's on W.Comp cases. He seems like a real nice guy when you meet him, BEWARE HE IS NOT. Check your paperwork. I have proof of everything I said and will happily show anyone who wants to see it.

I had a workers comp accident over 5 years ago, the paperwork and dealing with the W/C insurance was way over my understanding and time I had. I seen this attorney's office while driving through Modesto and went for a consultation. I talked to John Gonzales and he insured me that he and his staff would take care of it all and make sure it gets handled correctly. After signing the papers hiring this firm, I have not been able to speak to the attorney I hired even once since. They are so far behind on my case that they were sending me letters saying my MRI was denied and they were not going to file against it, when I had a actually already had the MRI and even the surgery over 6 months prior to the letter. This firm is such a disappointment due to there lack of client compassion, do not keep up on my case at least or have any desire to call me back and file what I ask of them and have completely dropped me from getting information that I desperately need. Now what ? I can not find any attorney to take my case after John Gonzales had it, they will not work for me and when I go into the office and demand they talk to me about my case, it seems as if they just gave up working for me and or got paid off by my employer, which is a big company in the local area. Had to have 5 surgeries and a joint replacement, the other joint is bad also due to this injury and still they do nothing.

Jose Gonzalez is an incompetent attorney at his best and malicious and rude normally. I unfortunately hired Jose Gonzales from Santa Ana based Berman, More and Gonzalez law to be my workers comp attorney. Not only did he never return or answer my calls, his phone receptionist was the only person I could reach for any comments regarding my case. The worst part of all, JOSE GONZALEZ MISSED MY DEPOSITION! He didn't even bother call to say he would not be there nor did he bothered to reschedule. So I was battered by opposing counsel with no legal representation. I almost feel as though he's being paid illegally by opposing counsel to throw my case. Needless to say I immediately Fired him. Please be warned of this horrible office. Perhaps the high rates are from his partner More or Berman, who I asked for in the first place. Their plate was full so I got talked into accepting Jose Gonzalez. Big mistake, this attorney did not even graduate from a major university! I should have done more research on Gonzalez. I am a real person currently on workers comp due to a serious injury. Jose Gonzalez made my difficult situation even more hellish.

I would give her zero stars if I could. Save your energy and time this lawyer is looking for a quick return on her clients. I was injured and lost my job while I was in the hospital for a work related injury. After 1 year of working on my case she told me to settle my case for 10k and give up my future medical. She literally stated "this case is only worth 10,000 and I am only making 2,000 from this. So you should just settle" Who says that stuff to clients yet alone a human being? I still was not in any condition to walk or go back to work. She is not there for your best interest as she has limited experience in trials and funds to appeal your case. Think twice before going to her.

What a Workers’ Compensation Lawyer Can Do for You

A workers’ compensation lawyer specializes in helping employees who are injured or become ill as a result of their job to receive the benefits they are entitled to under workers' compensation laws. These lawyers represent injured workers in claims for medical benefits, wage replacement, and other compensation related to workplace injuries or illnesses. They also help when claims are denied, benefits are delayed, or disputes arise with the employer or the insurance company.

Whether you've been injured on the job, developed an occupational illness, or are dealing with a denied workers' compensation claim, a workers’ compensation lawyer can help you navigate the claims process and ensure you receive the full benefits you deserve.

When Should I Hire a Workers' Compensation Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a workers' compensation lawyer in several situations, especially when complications arise during the claims process or when your rights as an injured worker are being challenged. Some common reasons to hire a workers' compensation lawyer include:

  • Claim denial: If your workers' compensation claim has been denied, a lawyer can help you appeal the decision and represent you in hearings or litigation.
  • Inadequate benefits: If the insurance company offers you a settlement that doesn’t cover your medical expenses, lost wages, or other damages, a lawyer can negotiate on your behalf for a fair amount.
  • Delay in receiving benefits: If your benefits are being delayed, a lawyer can help expedite the process to ensure you receive timely compensation.
  • Permanent disability: If your injury leads to permanent disability (partial or total), a lawyer can help you navigate the more complex process of securing long-term benefits.
  • Retaliation by employer: If your employer retaliates against you for filing a workers' compensation claim (e.g., by firing or demoting you), a lawyer can protect your rights and pursue legal action.
  • Third-party liability: If a third party (e.g., a contractor or equipment manufacturer) was responsible for your injury, a lawyer can help you pursue additional compensation through a personal injury lawsuit.
  • Pre-existing conditions: If your employer or the insurance company claims that your injury is related to a pre-existing condition, a lawyer can help you present evidence showing that the injury was work-related.

Hiring a lawyer early in the process can prevent delays, avoid mistakes, and ensure you receive all the benefits you’re entitled to under workers' compensation law.

What Does a Workers' Compensation Lawyer Do?

A workers' compensation lawyer provides a range of legal services to injured workers, ensuring that they receive the benefits they deserve. Their tasks often include:

  • Filing claims: Helping injured workers prepare and file their workers' compensation claims to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Appealing denied claims: Representing workers whose claims have been denied and guiding them through the appeals process, including hearings and court appearances.
  • Negotiating settlements: Negotiating with insurance companies to secure fair compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and other damages.
  • Handling disputes: Resolving disputes between the injured worker, the employer, and the insurance company regarding the amount of compensation or the nature of the injury.
  • Coordinating medical evidence: Gathering and presenting medical records, expert testimony, and other evidence to support the workers' compensation claim.
  • Advocating for benefits: Ensuring that injured workers receive all the benefits they’re entitled to, including temporary or permanent disability benefits, vocational rehabilitation, and medical treatment.
  • Filing third-party lawsuits: In cases where a third party is responsible for the injury, a workers' compensation lawyer may also pursue a personal injury lawsuit to recover additional damages.

How Are Workers’ Compensation Lawyers Paid?

Workers' compensation lawyers typically charge a contingency fee, meaning they only get paid if they successfully recover benefits for you. This fee is usually a percentage of the benefits awarded, and the specific percentage is often regulated by state law. Here's how it generally works:

  • Contingency fee: The lawyer's fee is typically between 15% and 25% of the total benefits awarded to you. You don’t have to pay any upfront legal fees, and the lawyer’s fee comes out of the settlement or benefit award.
  • No fee if no recovery: If the lawyer doesn’t recover any benefits for you, you generally don’t have to pay for their services.
  • State regulations on fees: Many states cap the percentage that workers' compensation lawyers can charge, and some states require the fee to be approved by the workers' compensation board or judge.

Be sure to discuss the fee structure with your lawyer during the initial consultation to understand how much you will owe if your case is successful.

How Much Does a Workers' Compensation Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a workers' compensation lawyer typically depends on the contingency fee arrangement, meaning the lawyer’s fee will be a percentage of the benefits you receive. General cost estimates include:

  • Contingency fees: Most workers' compensation lawyers charge between 15% and 25% of the total settlement or benefits awarded. For example, if you receive $50,000 in benefits, the lawyer’s fee would range from $7,500 to $12,500.
  • State regulations: Some states limit the percentage that workers' compensation lawyers can charge. In these cases, the fee is usually capped, often at 20% to 25%, depending on state law.
  • Additional costs: Some lawyers may charge for out-of-pocket expenses, such as filing fees, medical records retrieval, and expert witness testimony, though these costs are typically deducted from the settlement after the case is won.

You should always ask for a clear explanation of fees and potential additional costs during your consultation so you understand the financial arrangement.

Top Questions to Ask a Workers' Compensation Lawyer

Before hiring a workers' compensation lawyer, it’s important to ask the right questions to ensure they are the best fit for your case. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with workers' compensation cases?
Ensure the lawyer has experience handling cases similar to yours, especially if your injury is severe or the case involves disputes.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges a contingency fee and whether there are any additional costs you need to be aware of.
  3. What is the likelihood of success in my case?
Ask for an honest assessment of your case, including the potential challenges and outcomes.
  4. Have you handled cases like mine before?
Find out if the lawyer has experience dealing with cases involving similar injuries or disputes, such as denied claims or permanent disability.
  5. How long will the process take?
While it’s difficult to predict an exact timeline, the lawyer should be able to provide a general estimate based on their experience with similar cases.
  6. Will you personally handle my case?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may handle parts of your case. Make sure you know who will be working on your claim.

How to Check the Credibility of a Workers' Compensation Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable workers' compensation lawyer, follow these steps to verify their credentials and track record:

  • Verify their bar status: Check with your state bar association to confirm that the lawyer is licensed and in good standing, with no disciplinary actions against them.
  • Look for workers' compensation experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in workers' compensation law and have successfully handled cases similar to yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for client reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s expertise and service.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their experience in workers' compensation cases.
  • Check for professional affiliations: Membership in organizations like the Workers' Injury Law & Advocacy Group (WILG) or local bar association committees on workers' compensation can indicate the lawyer’s commitment to this area of law.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most out of your first consultation with a workers' compensation lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Accident report or incident documentation: Bring any documentation related to your workplace injury or illness, including accident reports or notifications to your employer.
  • Medical records: Provide copies of medical records, including treatment notes, doctor’s reports, and any information related to your injury or condition.
  • Employer correspondence: Bring any letters, emails, or forms related to your claim from your employer or the workers' compensation insurance company.
  • Wage and benefits information: Provide information on your wages, benefits, and any lost income due to the injury.
  • List of questions: Prepare questions about your case, the process, costs, and what to expect moving forward.
  • Timeline of events: Prepare a timeline of the incident, your injury, and any medical treatment or communication with your employer and the insurance company.

Being well-prepared for your consultation will allow the lawyer to assess your case more effectively and provide you with the best possible legal advice.
