When I emailed the Bowman Lawfirm I received a response within the hour and was able to meet with Catherine Bowman the next day! In my case she was my lifesaver, after an already emotionally traumatic event I was then hit with a second blow and financially devestated. I knew what was done to me wasn't right, but I didn't know what to do. After meeting with her she took my case and by doing so she gave me the hope I so desperately needed to stand up to those whom had wronged me. I have a rather complex disability case. So I have been working in my profession for about seven years and, for the last year, I have had to miss about 8 months of work for some inexplicable reason. After being told I was insane by doctors,and declining neurologically for a year, I realized something was terribly wrong. Finally I was diagnosed with a herniated disc in my cervical spine, and scoliosis with 2 curves in it. As it were, it seems that my herniated disc might have been going untreated for almost a year. At my age, I am informed that I am too young to have these problems. Anyways, Mr. Shaffman took this case as a long term disability matter and he is on top of it. His initial consultation was complimentary and was an entire hour. Excellent interaction, and he was very nice. The next time I called him, we talked for nearly another hour and exchanged pleasantries, and then we sealed the deal. After I began to email him, he gave me a very long, and obviously substantive response. It looked well-crafted. As I reiterate the sentiment of a prior reviewer who stated she had never interacted with a paralegal, I am glad to report that my experience has been the same; I have interfaced with him alone. Having this much experience and having a spotless record with Cal Bar makes me even more confident this was the best decision I could have made for my family. Seriously good.

BEST ATTORNEY EVER! HE KNOWS THE LAW WELL!
After consulting with several different attorneys regarding my long-term disability / retirement case, I came across Scott Shaffman. Mr. Shaffman is not only detailed oriented, but is extremely knowledgeable in his area of practice. Several things set this attorney above others.
First, he deals one-on-one with his clients. There is no paralegal that prepares paperwork. He does it himself. One of the many benefits of this is an attorney who is extremely familiar with the case through first hand knowledge. I appreciated this. The other attorneys I consulted with before I hired Mr. Shaffman all had paralegals.
Second, he knows the law when it comes to these types of cases and is unsurpassed with his overall knowledge and how-to. It's amazing and fascinating how he operates. He always was pulling up case law and shaping my case for the best chances to be successful.
Third, his response time is amazing. Most times he answered the phone when I called. If not, he called back almost always within hours. What attorneys do this? Impressive!
Fourth, he was always on top of my case. It never sat in a corner. Regular communication and updates occurred. This was important to me and I always knew the latest happenings of my case. This made for a trustworthy relationship.
In closing, I highly suggest this attorney. He undoubtedly ranks at the top of the list.

My wife and I suffered a personal tragedy when our son was killed by an unlicensed driver in Florida. We’re from Vermont. Scott Russell was recommended to us. I cannot say enough great things about Mr. Russell! I was involved in a car accident involving a fatality. I was taken to the hospital with back injuries and was out of work for several weeks. Lawrence and Rose Ben, as well as their paralegal, provided me with an excellent and exceptional level of care.They were always available to me by phone, and treated me with kindness! A real quality that seems to be lost in this day and age for people. Mr. Ben and his staff took the time to explain to me what may or may not happen in my son's case. Never once did they "tell me what I wanted to hear" they were honest and clear and never made any promises. There are a very small percent of trial lawyers to achieve being board certified that was impressive.
He took depositions from employees and witness .
With the witness the sworn statement was not enough ..he then went and traveled to another state to take the deposition.
He told me he finds them and travels when they have moved and
had made contact in this case to get an employer to allow use of a room at end of the work day.
Very impressive guy .. he took time to always call back or email in trial when he wouid be in the office to talk. The office was always available to meet . The office staff is excellent.
In a few words found his experience showed , was in good hands and he was to handling the case himself , the insurance co. knew he was a personal injury attorney that went to court ..that was also great.

I’m a current client of Nicks. He has not only stayed in communication constantly, but he has been able to impress me throughout the whole process. His intake was thorough. I retained Ms. Jones as my attorney in 2009, and she has been nothing but consistently excellent in every aspect of our relationship ever since. When I came to her, I needed help fighting a long term disability case against my employer who happens to be a rather well known and powerful corporation. Ms. Jones made me feel comfortable and safe from our very first meeting. After having been put through the wringer considerably for some time dealing with the issue on my own, I was mentally exhausted, emotionally defeated, and entirely convinced that I couldn't trust anyone. I was also convinced that no one would want to fight for me because of the bigness of who I was up against. Ms. Jones immediately set me at ease. She both listened and heard my entire story. She asked very specific and detailed questions to make certain she knew all the facts; she took time with me in order to get it right without rushing me through or implying I should speed things up. She ALWAYS returned my emails and calls without making me feel like a bother. She never failed to answer every question and address every concern. Most importantly to me as a client, she NEVER spoke defeat. If she ever had any doubts, she didn't put them on me which I appreciated very much since I had enough to worry about already. She was honest and realistic, she didn't mince words, however, she was always hopeful, always optimistic, and always of the mind that we were going to come at the issue from every legal angle available to us. I brought Jami a disability case ... My disability insurance carrier suddenly decided I was OK and could go back to work and simply stopped paying after 7 years! In Michigan TWO appeals within the insurance company itself are required before you can dispute the company's actions in court. I thought about trying to handle the appeal(s) myself (I'm a former media pro with heavy writing experience and pretty much an expert researcher). In the end, I brought the issue to another attorney who had helped my wife get her SSD benefits, who in turn referred me to Jami. After meeting her and discussing my case, I decided that the issue was far too complex to risk trying to fix without professional help. One of the best decisions I ever made! Jami handled the appeal and it never even got to the second "internal" insurance company review. My benefits were FULLY reinstated as a direct result of Jami's involvement. We needed the advice of an legal expert for a claim against a Government agency. We spoke to Mr Watson and he provided us on how to proceed without needing his immediate services. Mr. Hofer didn't tell me what I was hoping to hear, but he was quick to respond and to ask for information--on a Sunday, even! He spoke to me for awhile, long enough to make me feel "heard" and comfortable-- as opposed to the "I'm really busy; please hurry" atmosphere you find quite often these days.
Now, did I agree with what he had to say? NO...but he was straight forward on where he thought I stood and what the law was/is as he saw it. He was as compassionate as one could get if you these stories over and over...which is a sad thing, because in my case the person who took off with my money is a repeat offender in the construction business and is once again allowed to prey on the innocent over and over again. The laws are protecting the criminal while the victim suffers emotionally and financially when trying to obtain justice. The criminal? ...a public defender and off scott free for most of us can't afford the pursuit of justice. A thank you goes out to Mr. Hofer for sharing his time and expertise with me in a very timely fashion and that is commendable!
