I highly recommend Patrick Kelley Family Law to anyone going through family legal matters. I called and spoke to his paralegal who was very friendly on the phone and pointed me in the right direction. I made an appointment with Patrick and he was very professional and caring. I never felt like I was just one of his clients but a real person going through a real event in my life that mattered to him as well. I was in a child custody case and he was very organized in getting all documents together and creating a great case for me. I personally had an out of state case and everything was done over the phone and email. Anytime I had a question or concern he was always available to speak to me or called me back within the same day. When going to court he knew all the right questions to ask and was prepared for the trial with no surprises. I feel like he was not only my lawyer but a part of my family. He always had a personal touch to our conversations to ask how everyone in the family was doing and was honest and true. Bill Peterson and the MCPY staff took the stress and worry out of pursing our suit. The case involved jurisdictions in Colorado and Indiana. Initially, we attempted to handle the case ourselves. After several months of frustrating calls and emails with the company we were pursing, we retained MCPY.
We elected to meet in person with Bill (rather than virtually) who clearly explained our options and best courses of action. Immediately, MCPY collaborated with their contacts in Indiana and aggressively fought for our family to obtain an expedited and fair resolution.
As a retired police officer and former military, I wanted an honest but aggressive law firm to assist us. If not for the expertise and network of professionals associated with MCPY, we certainly would not have had the positive outcome (especially not as quickly) that resulted from our decision to retain MCPY for our litigation. Sandy may handle a lot of cases as other lawyers do, but unlike those other lawyers, she will actually pay attention to and remember the details of your case. She is also really good at math and with financials. If a family lawyer isn’t good at those things, it can dramatically increase the costs of a divorce in a way that can affect you for years.

She is a lovely person as a human being, and as a lawyer is a no-nonsense, hard-hitting professional with the skills to bring together Massachusetts marital law with the psychological aspects of divorce.
Due to the previous circumstances of my marriage, I was facing a twelve-year alimony liability that would have been financially disastrous for me, and would have prevented me from making a new start. Paula weaved together an astonishingly favorable settlement agreement that saved me tens of thousands of dollars, through courteous and efficient negotiations with the other side, even factoring in overseas jurisdictions, due to some of my assets being in Europe. She drafted depositions and related court documents that helped my case enormously, and represented my interests in the courtroom with aplomb; the courts were at the time Zoom-only due to COVID. I found myself in need of a divorce lawyer. A friend recommended me their attorney. My divorce was not going to be typical. I had two boys that were 6 and 3 and their mom was not in a grounded place. I needed to have custody. I had to hold things together. It was not promising. Dads did not fair well in 1999 regarding custody.
After a number of meetings it was clear that there was going to be trial. My attorney had a vacation planned and she had to bring in a partner. Enter Paula Berg.
In under an hour Paula told me a few basic things that I could rely on when testifying at trial. She was honest, and that does not always mean what I want to hear. She told me that I had the right lawyer and that I had to do exactly what I was told, because we were a team. She explained that dads do not typically get custody, and she followed that up with "so what, I do not have a problem going against the odds". She is a kind, warm person, but that is not how I would describe her professionally. Paula is very no nonsense, direct, and she knows the law. She knows what judges need to do their job. That is worth reading twice. I have referred Paula to a few friends, which also resulted in success. Again, pick the right lawyer and do exactly what she says. She is the right lawyer.

Roy explained what was going to happen in our first meeting . To say our case was a tough one is an understatement. Most talking points were met with opposing views. Needless to say, most meetings were intense, resulting in a more-than-typical number of meetings to finish. There were many times when it looked like mediation may not be for us; however, Nick DeMetro stuck with us and patiently guided us through this tumultuous process. He was invested in helping us find a common ground.
Throughout the process, I came to know that he was not just doing his job, but that he truly cared. He also showed a deep mindfulness for our children, and that always meant so much to me.
He proved to be reliable, loving, and trustworthy. Divorce is never where I imagined I would be. I believed that no matter the challenge, I could make my marriage work. Sadly, I was wrong. When you realize you have to make one of the toughest decisions of your life, you need someone by your side that can be trusted in a time of insecurity and fear. Nick was/is that person. After meeting with a few mediators, we finally settled on Nicholas and we are very happy that we did.
He was a really good listener who asked us the right questions so we could arrive at a fair agreement. His rate was extremely competitive and he was very efficient during our meetings (we got a lot done in each session), While the process in general is a stressful one, his supportive approach made it comfortable and safe.
He was a man of his word - he did everything that he said he would and he never surprised us with unexpected charges. He also articulated the whole process well and by the time we met with the judge, we had everything that we needed and we were well prepared.
I don't typically (i.e., almost never) write reviews, but my experience with Nicholas was so positive that I wanted to write this one.

Prior to my initial meeting with Mr. Kaufman, I had discussed my situation with two other attorneys neither of which felt they could handle my case. Due to the difficulties of the case, they recommended I seek other counsel. In dealing with counsel on a different issue, Mr. Kaufman was highly recommended and I pursued making contact with him. While the divorce itself was an unpleasant experience, Mr. Kaufman was very thorough, compassionate, understanding, and made an exerted effort to protect my interests through his due diligence. This required spending much time understanding all the facts leading to the divorce which were quite convulated.. This also involved coordinating efforts with other legal counsel representing me on other issues related to these proceedings. The collabration, coordination, and communication between the legal counsel led to a determination with a favorable outcome in the divorce . I was very pleased with the communication and interaction with Mr. Kaufman throughout this process and would highly recommend him. I recently ended a long-term marriage and -in so doing- found myself slowly being pulled towards a contested divorce trial. My ex-spouse and I found difficulties in reaching a compromise and she was in no hurry to move the divorce forward. Further, I had little knowledge of the divorce laws, the legal processes of divorce or the court system in general as this was my first exposure to a trial. I was really out of my comfort zone in such matters.
I came to Rhonda not only for her AAML certification and extensive divorce experience but, in researching her background further, I found that she had a good record for moving cases forward. Her and her team did an absolutely outstanding job. They moved my case forward -and to its completion- expediently and with a good outcome. Further, they dealt with me with patience, understanding and great communication so that I came to a comfort level as the case progressed.
Divorce is clearly difficult and challenging for a number of reasons. I am very grateful that Rhonda was so adept at dealing with the legal aspects of my divorce so that I was able to deal with the other challenges that came with this process.

Sue Hansen and her team were gentle, professional, efficient, and truly caring as I went through the divorce process. The Commissioner conducting my final hearing stated, “this is not a woman state, this is not a man state, this IS a kid state.”

Susan Hansen came highly recommended to me, and I can appreciate why. I was going through a difficult divorce, including considerable disputes over family assets, child placement and future monies. Sue Hansen is an excellent lawyer. We approached Jordan to help us retrieve assets that had been stolen from the estate of a relative who had recently died. After our initial meeting, Jordan researched the statutes and case law and developed a plan to retrieve the stolen property. His plan was so successful that we received a Summary Judgement meaning prior to going to trial the judge ruled there was no way we could lose; the judge ordered the defendant to return the assets to the estate.

Laura’s utilizes a realistic, effective problem solving approach always with a personalized touch, guided with genuine empathy. Unlike other high profiled divorce attorneys, even though she has a very competent assistant, Laura handles most of the divorce details. This is immensely valuable during legal proceedings which can become very complicated, confusing and difficult for the client to sort through with all the raw emotions. My assets are well into 7 figures, with a significant executive salary, a then wife that did not work outside the home for 25 years. My ex unexpectedly filed and hired what is considered to be the best high profiled divorce attorney from the area. Thankfully with Laura’s attention to detail, tenacity and persistence, we achieved a final divorce judgment within 8 months and out maneuvered them to my financial advantage nearly twice my legal fees. Holly was the ideal advocate for me while going through a difficult child custody case. I never thought I'd be getting divorced, and I was sick about the whole thing, but Holly Newman's mediation smoothed out the process and let us concentrate on fairness and doing what was right. She provided us with packages of all the forms and requirements, and over a few meetings, walked us through the details. She always seemed sympathetic to our situation, without taking sides. She took us through the questions that needed to be answered and turned it all into completed forms for us to sign, then presented it all in court, without our having to be there.
