I couldn't be happier with Mr. Matney. He was very polite and always greets you with a smile. He really knows the peninsula area and the court system. He always made me feel at ease and comfortable. He fully explains the details of the case, possible outcomes and what you need to do to receive the best possible outcome. He was always punctual and never had to reschedule. His office staff was always on top of the case and made me feel like I was good hands, which I was. I would highly recommend Mr. Matney.

I had just gotten a first DUI, as a matter of fact, the only offense other than minor traffic incidents I'd ever had in my life. Calling him to help me was one of the best things I could ever have done. He drove in from out of town and helped me through a tough situation. He treated me with respect, got the information he needed to help me, and went to work. He met with the police officer, as well as the district attorney and was able to plead my case down to reckless driving. I was so thankful I cried! This is about your life! Make the right decision. If a 10 rating was the highest , I would give Michael an enthusiastic 11. His attention to detail,professionalism, great understanding of the laws, and preparation was second to none. Mike Tillotson stands out as one of the outstanding DWI lawyers, not only in Virginia but nationwide. I have had many opportunities to learn with Mike at national seminars and from him when he sponsored seminars on Virginia's breath test machine. Earlier this year I received a reckless driving ticket in a construction zone. I contacted a couple lawyers before deciding to go with Mr. Matney. He took my case and was immediately very helpful in getting it resolved. We went to court and they extended the hearing to take place a couple months later. Mr. Matney gave me detailed instructions on what I should do to prepare for my next court appearance. Having done all he recommended me to do, we went back to court and the case was dismissed! I could not have hoped for a better outcome. I will recommend Mr. Matney to anyone who needs a lawyer in the future. Five stars for sure!

Awesome Firm, use these guys on two different occasions. One was dui, driving on suspended which was totally dismissed and the other was reckless driving which was reduced to improper driving....

I am a service member of 2 overseas deployments clean driving record never been in an accident and never gone to court. Was in a freak accident where the cop said I was at fault for failing to yield. Mr. Matney came to the court prepared and knew exactly the right way to go about defending it. I took a driver improvement class even though I still felt strongly I did not do it. Let me tell you I was extremely nervous but we were out of there within maybe 10 minutes he had the statue that they were trying to pin me on and said you had to prove 3 things in order for me to be convicted the cop could not prove one of them. When the cop came to scene of the accident he pretty much was saying it was 100% my fault even though there were discrepancies everywhere. Mr. Matney saw this and exploited the cops weak testimony. I have never seen a Cop back track the way this cop did now he was acting like he was our best friend and that we had valid points. If I didnt have Mr. Matney I would of had this on my criminal record where in fact in any other state it would of been the other drivers fault of rear ending me. I have served honorably and my record reflected that of a citizen who follows the rules. Yet the state of VA wants to pin reckless driving on a lot of people. Hands down without question I would hire Mr. Matney and he always seemed to put his family first. The way he cared for me during this case after it pretty much derailed my life was outstanding. He is a one of a kind lawyer and you dont find guys like him everyday. Some lawyers I talked to were stuck up or into themselves he really genuinely cares he puts your needs first and we need more people like that.
