Received a traffic ticket (Radar/Laser speed trap) and hired Phil to defend me. I gave him the details of my case and after delaying the process (which was intentional), Phil personally met me in court to defend me. He prepared me in advance what to expect and prepared me for testimony. Once trial began, his questioning of the officer was top notch, and was so effective, not only did he get the case dismissed and my ticket refunded, he impressed others in the court room waiting for their case to be called (they actually came up to him to say so outside the courtroom). I highly recommend Phil for his professionalism, communication and results!

I was looking at a DUI and probably jail time after an incident in 2023. After two previous Convictions, one 30 years ago and another 25 years ago. I was arrested for DUI, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer., all of which were not based on facts.. Denise Kirby, won my revocation hearing so I didn’t lose my license, and both the resisting arrest and assaulting an officer were both dismissed The DUI was amended to a 2 point C&I charge.. I paid a $225 fine with NO probation.. I can NOT have gone through what I did if it weren’t for Denise!! She IS the Best !! She was trustworthy, and determined.. and I pray I will never have to be her client again, but if anyone is reading this and is in a similar situation, please contact her.. On St Patrick's Day, I got into a car accident with no injuries. The officer who arrived on the scene said I had the smell of alcohol on my breath and had me do a field sobriety test. I failed the Field Sobriety Test, and I refused to blow. I was arrested and booked for DWI + Reckless Driving, causing an accident, and I had 2 weeks to appeal my license revocation. I was in shambles and anxious about my future as a healthcare professional.
I called different lawyers. Some were cheap, but they just wanted me to take a plea deal. Some big firms were willing to fight the case, but they were super expensive, and I didn't want to go broke over this incident.
Enter Denise Kirby. When we discussed my case, she made no guarantees, but by the end of the conversation, I was convinced that she'd be the one to represent me. She impressed me with her resume; she is well-known in KC for her expertise in DWI defense. Her price is a flat fee and is more than fair for her expertise and qualifications. Her payment system is easygoing. I made an upfront deposit and finished making payments after six months with no interest.
You'd think the case would be settled by the end of the six-month payments, but it wasn't. Denise warned me that the court systems in KC, Missouri, are slow, and they sure were.
A full year later, when the case came closer to a hearing, Denise called me to review all the evidence and asked me what I wanted to do. My biggest thing was getting the DUI off my record without going to trial. She spoke to the prosecutor and called me about a few weeks later. She was able to get a plea deal to amend my DUI and Reckless driving to a C&I driving violation, which is essentially a $500 fine and not a criminal offense ( not a misdemeanor or felony). I only had to go to court in front of the judge to agree to accept guilt for the traffic violation and then pay the fine at the court. She also won my license revocation, I just had to do SATOP classes, and my driver's license was not suspended.
Do yourself a favor if you live in the KC area and face DUI/DWI charges Denise Kirby is the way to go.

I feel as though I was wrongfully arrested for a DUI. I am a pretty boring mom who never goes out and had not had a drink in years. A friend came from out of town and for the first night in years I took her out in KC, had 1 drink, than drank water for about 2 hours, grabbed a bite to eat, and about 3 or 4 hours after my one drink got in the car and forgot to turn on my headlights and got pulled over by a thirty to arrest DUI officer. He did three field sobriety test and I lost my balance on the walk, the last test, due to nerves/anxiety (was shaking), it was on an elevated surfaces and a uneven cracked sidewalk. He arrested me and gave me a PBT which I easily passed but still insisted I was under the influence. I called many lawyers and many stated that many prosecutors are hard on DUI’s due to MAD and even though it seemed straightforward we likely would have to go to trial. I looked up Denise and was impressed by her credentials but once I talked to her I knew she was hands down the one I wanted to hire. She was confident in her abilities and what she would be able to do for me. I could have gotten a cheaper lawyer but I she was well worth the extra I had to spend to get representation that would fight for me. Denise was able to get charge completely dismissed. It is disappointing that you can do everything right and still get wrongfully arrested by someone stacking up cases but thankful for people like Denise who are able to represent people when they feel like the odds are stacked against them.
Denise, thanks for everything you did to represent me and get my case dismissed. I shouldn’t never need another DUI lawyer but would/will recommend you, hands down!

I was arrested for a felony and did not know where to get help. My friend told me to call the Wizard. That nickname is not an understatement. Grant asked me all the right questions so I could gather the necessary evidence that I did not commit the crime. He strategically planned the presentation of the evidence and essentially discredited the witness for the prosecution. Case dismissed! I was 23 when this situation occurred. I was coming home after a graveyard shift to find my daughter awake at 5 in the morning with her mother and a man I had never met inside my home. Drugs on the table and both of them belligerently drunk. The stranger made threatening advances and one thing led to another and I ended up fearing for my life and shooting him twice. I have never found myself in any serious legal trouble before this incident but I was later charged with 2 felonies (assault with a deadly weapon, intent to terrorize). I had one and only one offer for the majority of 4 years. The court's offer was flat out 7 years in prison.
The situation being as serious as it was I knew I needed the best lawyer by my side regardless of charge or distance. I spent many hours scouring reviews and online results of every local lawyer in Bakersfield and Mark definitely stood out from the crowd. Results don't lie and Mark's price wasn't any more than any other lawyer of his caliber. I knew from our very first meeting that I had made a great choice and instantly retained him, and so our 4 year journey began.
Mark's a master of his craft and knows all the ins and outs of the court system. My case was dragged on for four years in my favor. With COVID-19 all major courts processes were slowed down for nearly two years. I believe this case was not a race but a slow and steady marathon. Although you may want your case done as quickly as possible, which can certainly happen.. I felt Mark's ability to drag my case out until the perfect timing was a game changer. Some lawyers want to get you in and out and wipe their hands clean of your case, but Mark was willing to stay patient and diligent and work with me long term which I greatly appreciated. His staff was always helpful and informative through the whole process. There were no hidden fees or agendas and they always made me feel confident in everything they helped with.
Fast forward to just a few weeks ago and my prayers have been answered. The day before trial was set I accepted a miraculous new offer which I was so happy to accept. Mark's work paid off and he was able to get the DA to offer me NO FELONIES, 1 MISDEMEANOR ASSAULT THAT WILL BE DISMISSED WITHIN A YEAR. This means I was put in a horrible situation that I felt I needed to use deadly force and I shot someone, got charged with 2 major felonies, was facing 7 years in prison, and Mark somehow got me sentenced with the same charge as someone could receive for a street fight!
If you're reading this, look no further. When you are dealing with your life on the line you don't have any room to leave this up for chance. You need a strong, experienced, reputable lawyer, who will stay by your side no matter how long it takes and will give you the confidence and relief you need during your difficult times.

In one night my young son went from an independent working young man with and FID card to living a MA nightmare of facing multiple gun charges. I made the mistake of hiring the first criminal defense attorney because there isn't a lot of options at 8:00 am.

Not enough good things to say about Neil. If you're being persecuted by this redcoat state over your 2nd Amendment rights, he's your best legal defense. My case started off about as bad as it can get, I was being charged with a litany of things, most of which carried mandatory minimum sentences in prison. My first lawyer was garbage; never communicated, didn't really advocate for me, didn't care if I lost or won the case. He eventually quit, at which point we hired Neil, which was the best decision we could have made. I can proudly say that after almost three years, my case was finally closed today, with no jail time and only a year of probation. When I first got arrested, I never imagined that this could be the outcome, but Neil made it happen. He goes the distance, is communicative and understanding, and he has some funny stories. He is also great to talk to if you're a gun guy in general. I plan to get out of this horrible state ASAP, but God forbid they ever come after me in the future, I'd be extremely fortunate to be represented by Mr. Tassel; and so would you. Ben Jacob's is someone you'd call when other attorney either has given you false hope or a run around for your time/money.
Ben took on the challenge I was facing for over a year. My previous attorney wasn't aggressive during my Preliminary hearing and I was facing trial... I called up Ben, trusted in him.. and he not only got my case fully DISMISSED but also Got me an apology from courts.

It is hard to truly capture my full appreciation and recommendation for Attorney Benjamin Wurtzel. Most of us don't think we will need a criminal defense attorney in our lifetimes. I found myself in a situation where life changed in an instant and as a new mother in the midst of a major storm, I was in desperate need of competent and reliable counsel.
The complexity of my case was astounding and I knew immediately after the initial consultation with Ben that he would be unlike other attorneys. The research he had done in a short time frame showed me that he was intelligent and diligent, with careful attention to details. (I spoke with several other attorneys who either rushed me off the phone or seemed genuinely perplexed by my situation - bringing zero confidence in their ability to help).

I felt genuine concern and care in every correspondence which, to put it bluntly, brought much needed peace during very sleepless nights.

The state hired her as a panel attorney. No fault of her own, she was assigned my case the night before my trial hearing. While she did not have enough time to review the case thoroughly, she presented my case like she did. She is extremely knowledgeable about the law. She was attentive and really care for her clients and their well-being. She initially asked me what did I want the outcome to be and I told her a dismissal. She consulted with the state and within 5 minutes of entering the court room, she had all my charges dismissed. Before I left the court house, my record was no longer on the state case search. Byron got my first offense DUI closed and essentially all I had to do was pay a $500 fine no other punishments. And I didn’t even have to show up in person to court. The judge was super easy on me because Byron set me up to have all the requirement finished prior to the hearing.

Byron went above and beyond my expectations. This was my very first time dealing with a criminal case and as such knew absolutely nothing. The PD’s office did the least possible to explain or help us understand the ins and outs regarding my nephews charges/case. Byron spent over an hour on a Friday night explaining things in detail and making sure I understood what he was explaining. Although Byron was unable to directly represent us in this case, he directed me to a very good known lawyer for further assistance.

I contacted Mr. Rogers with questions concerning an extradition case. I explained my situation and he immediately explained the options I had, which were esentially none. He explained that the sooner the extradition toolk place the sooner my relative could be released from jail.
