At our free consult, he ran a check on my name and found out my husband had tried to file on me out of state but it was dismissed. He then provided me with papers to file for divorce before I could even pay the retainer. As soon as I got the money together I hired him and I have not regretted it once. With him representing me, I have that peace of mind knowing my kids are protected legally.

My case was in really bad shape, the other party secretly filed for sole everything! without my knowledge, then lived with me for 2 years and never mentioned a thing. When we split they claimed to the courts I was never involved in my childs' life and never responded to the paternity papers. They used every dirty trick you can think of, I had back to back Temporary Restraining Orders being thrown at me, at the same time finding out about another request in our case. The other side wanted to zero out all my time with a default judgement to lock it in. I had only days to reply and went with a family recommendation. This was a mistake! I didn't research the guy, I didn't feel comfortable with his laid back game plan. In fact, he had no plan, and did more harm than good. I wish I would have contacted a serious attorney like Jesse. But I didn't, instead I researched and contacted legal aid organizations. Another mistake. They did help me understand the legal process and really made me feel like I was part of the case, but in fact I see now after using them so many times, they are just lazy and wanted me to write my own case, while they polished it up with legal jargon. After wasting my time and money with those downtown organization and still getting hassled by the other parties unemployed boyfriend and the drunk step dad, the final straw came when they started punishing my daughter for not wanting to call the boyfriend dad. I FINALLY CALLED JESSE! I looked around, did my research. I knew what to look for in an attorney now, I wanted someone who knows the way around the courtroom, who's not afraid to square up in the hallways with other parties attorneys. Jesse didn't let us get pushed around, I immediately got results at custody court and quickly retained Jesse Verdin for my child support case. When I called him, I was a few weeks away from a serious court date. We met up at my conveniences near my house, I have a 5 inch thick case file over the last 4 years. Jesse let me explain everything I went through in the case file, I showed him the main points and he saw my side. Jesse quickly picked up on the lies and mistakes made in the case and new exactly what to do next. Like I said he got IMMEDIATE RESULTS! I couldn't be happier with the way my daughter and mine needs are being represented now. I recommend Jesse to everyone I know and meet. If your taking the time to read reviews like I did, then trust me and go with Jesse Verdin, make whatever sacrifices you need to for you and your family. From my own personal experiences the family legal system is completely flawed and bias towards the stigmatization with fathers in court. I hired Jesse to represented me in my recent divorce, and I could not be more grateful. Having Jesse's knowledge and guidance made all the difference and removed the stress from a difficult situation. I have been dealing with attorney's for all of my life and I trust this lawfirm like I trust my family. Anytime I have ever had an issue they were quick to come to bat for me and they always produced the best result. I found Christopher Melcher's name while feverishly researching IRS codes etc., regarding alimony and mortgage contributions. My ex-husband was insisting that I claim not only my spousal support for the entire 2012 tax year as income (which I knew about and was prepared to do) but also his "mortgage contributions" as well.
My ex gave me 40% of the mortgage monthly for the "marital home" from January 2012 to October 2012. This was home, not only to myself, but to our children as well. Both my ex and I were on the deed and the mortgages. I never imagined that mortgage consideration would be taxable to me!
My own attorny was zero help on this. After 2 grueling years of being his annuity, I wasn't surprised that once again, he was unable to give me a definitive answer. That's why I set out on a mission to understand the divorce and IRS tax laws on my own, which quite frankly, is comparable to my becoming a physicist. But I persevered, and came across a terrific article on the topic by Mr. Melcher. I was so impressed with this article that I decided to contact him, even though we were in different states. I was hoping that since this was a federal tax income issue, he might still be able to help me regardless of where I lived.
I am not only happy that I reached out to Chris-- but I'm ecstatic! He responded immediately to my online inquiry and he asked me to email him all the various court orders. I emailed the files and he wrote back-- again on that same day---outlining his advice, answering all my questions concisely and thoroughly.
Thanks to Chris's keen perusal of my 3 court orders, he caught something that I would have never realized (and sadly neither would my own attorney). The one court order that was executed in June of 2012 had modified the September 2011 court order, and made it "retroactive" to September 2011. Chris explained that the IRS will not recognize that type of modification, retroactively. The June 2012 order was modifying the older order for child support, keeping the amount of money the same, but changing the breakdown from all child support to child, spousal and mortgage contribution. Chris explained that the IRS would only recognize the order that was in place at the time of the payments. So.....now this meant that EVERYTHING my ex paid me prior to June 2012--in the eyes of the IRS---would be considered ALL child support!
He also weighed in on the mortgage consideration issue, explaining that since my ex was also on the mortgage at the time of those payments, they were not spousal support, and that it would be a very difficult case for my ex to make. He confirmed my thinking that I should not take those payments as income, and suggested how I could give my ex his "fair portion" of the mortgage interest. This will now be a very small amount since, as Chris pointed out, according to the court documents, there was no mortgage contributions ordered until mId year! Can you say KARMA?!
Chris and I exchanged a couple of emails and we had one phone call (which by the way he made to me while on his family vacation!). Chris is obviously extremely sharp, extremely knowledgable, very kind and he was very generous with his time.
I was also very impressed that on all of Chris's emails, his cell phone is listed along with his other contact info! Very unusual, and I think that says a lot.
Moral of the story? Trust your instincts, be your own advocate, don't be bullied, do your homework, and call Chris Melcher.
If I had a "re-do"- I would live in CA and hire Chris to handle my whole divorce!

We chose Amy Wicks after interviewing about a dozen attorneys for a move-away case. We were moving out of state and our daughters father was disputing. She handled everything quickly and efficiently. She made sure we understood all angles that could be taken by the opposing party and she was honest with us about the possibilities of what could happen. In court, she was by far the most prepared and hard-hitting attorney in the room. The opposing (and actually more experienced) attorney threw a fit and had to apologize to the Judge because he could not keep up with Amy in a professional manner. She had an immediate and valid response to every argument he brought up. In the end, she kept the move-away case from developing into a trial and we were able to settle, gaining more than what we had originally asked for because Amy is that good! We will use her for everything custody related moving forward and we only wish we had found her 6 years ago when this all began.

Attourney Paula Fox represented my daughter in a custody case, which lasted about 3 years, as her "ARC" Attourney. Kevin is incredibly knowledgable and smart, and he is one of the very few lawyers who can handle high-conflict trial cases well. He is never afraid of litigation and will maximize your chance of winning. He won the restraining order against me in multiday trial. The opposing attorney is highly competitive, and I can see both him and the judge respect Kevin highly for his knowledge of law and litigation skills. What has impressed me about Kevin is that he is honest and efficient in tackling the various roadblocks that have come up in my case. She made my calls a priority. Her follow up was stellar. She sent follow up emails after talking to us after the court hearings to make sure we understood what exactly happened in court and what to expect next. Her fee structure was well explained and fair. She has a lot of experience and that was obvious with her knowledge of case law and just the law in general. Elaine was a referral from a friend. I'd never been in court before and, I was so upset and afraid when I received my summons in the mail. Elaine was prompt and reassuring. She worked meticulously to find out as much information as she could that pertained to my case. She consulted with my child's teacher, his therapist, and others to make sure that what was in the best interest of my child would be the outcome in this case. Myself and the other parent had a horrible relationship when this all started . We were required through the courts to complete a course and Elaine wanted feedback. She asked me questions, in hopes that I'd learned something that could be applied to my specific family situation. I won in court, myself and the other parent have a much better relationship now, and most importantly my child is happy. Doug helped guide me through a very complicated custody battle against one of the big family law firms (Delaney McKinney) with both honesty and knowledge, and did it with the utmost efficiency and organization. My custody fight was much longer than I had anticipated but Doug explained each step of the process to me and allowed me to present the type of case that both fit my personality, my parenting style and my income. I wanted to both thoughtfully and firmly defend my rights as a parent, while making sure that during our year long trial, we always respected my spouse, and most importantly didn't do anything which could ever adversely effect my children. I hired Ann the day after I found out we needed urgent legal assistance for a emergency order of protection and divorce. I had already spoken with 2 other lawyers that could not help me for weeks. We were in court effectively protecting my family the next morning. Divorce complete in a few weeks. She is brilliant, efficient and also caring. David took my jurisdiction case and knocked it out of the park. Divorce isn’t easy. At the time, I was on active duty Air Force stationed in Biloxi. Divorce was simultaneously filed in Georgia and Mississippi, although I’ve never been a GA resident. Military divorces have key differences in residence vs domicile vs home of record. David found some keen strategies within case law precedent about residency and turned them against my opponent ultimately working in my favor. Judge dismissed allowing us to move the case back to MS. I trust David’s judgement. He gets to work, he believes in the father’s rights to equality, and he holds his professional image throughout. As I have recently found out, divorce is not easy.
Please consider your defense in your own personal divorce. Every marriage is different, every divorce is different, every lawyer is different. I really feel like I picked the best lawyer for my case.
I was referred to DMQ by another lawyer. I already knew the firm had an excellent reputation. What I did not know is that David Marple is an excellent strategist!
He orchestrated a very complicated situation in my case and it couldn't have had a better result.
My divorce took about 3 months. If I didn't have David's creative mind, it could have taken years.
I have to say at some points it looked hopeless and I was scared. However, the whole team at DMQ knew what they were doing when I didn't. They were compassionate as well as assertive. This whole firm operates with "class" and I felt good about every decision we had to make.

Rachel is an outstanding attorney; I am quite pleased with her practice, the timeliness of the deliverable, prompt follow-up e-mails, and clear, concise, easy to understand answers to all of my questions.
Before retaining Rachel, I had several initial conversations, reviewed my circumstances, and briefly discussed her 31 years of experience. Rachel's retainer was highly competitive, and the cost/benefit return was terrific!
Immediately after retaining Rachel, I received the initial paperwork to file for my divorce. Two weeks later, I spoke with Rachel to review our options and agreed on a separation agreement. We did not know much about my ex-wife situation concerning the retention of council and a few other issues. As such, Rachel mailed our separation agreement to my ex-wife with a firm but gentle letter requesting her to sign and return the proposed agreement within 14 days.
Rachel received a counter proposal from my ex-wife a short time later. Rachel reviewed the counter proposal and called me with her assessment and a few suggested changes. I agreed with her suggestions, and we returned the amended separation agreement almost immediately after our call. I am now waiting for my ex-wife to sign Rachel's amended separation agreement. I am confident that upcoming amendments will continue to be addressed in the prompt, professional, and client-friendly manner I have come to expect from Rachel.

Divorce cases can be so stressful, and even more so during your search for lawyers. It is difficult to find a lawyer in which you feel confident in that they will try their best to fulfill your needs, as if it were their own. I had a few disappointing consultations with previous firms during my search. When I came across Ms. Ross, I felt comforted immediately as she received me with great patience and a caring ear. Ms. Ross very knowledgeable in the law, informed me about what could be done in my favor and the possibility of future settlements in the case. Ms. Ross and her firm continuously kept in touch, she is easy to contact, and even more open to availability depending on the severity of your concern (being that they are scheduled for hearings and meetings throughout the day) I was very happy with the outcome of the case in which Ms. Ross also helped avoid costs by preventing mediation if we could settle through alternative resolution.
