I want to thank Michelle Slanker. She was awesome. Answer every question I had. Return phone calls and answered text messages. Truthful from the beginning of my case till the end. Worked extremely hard to get me the best outcome. Words cannot express how grateful I am. Knowledgeable, supportive, professionalism, understanding, and caring. I recommend her to anyone.

I hired Richard for a case and never spoke to him on the phone only with his assistant. He missed three phone call appointments with me and became very rude when I express my displeasure with the situation (via email of course). I paid him $1100 for no reason, I honestly regret hiring him to terminate my probation early. I filed the motion myself and got it taken care of. Anyone looking to hire an attorney I strongly suggest looking elsewhere. I can only imagine what his clients are going through that are incarcerated.

When I first hired her she did great, very attentive and responsive on the first case but then later on other charges she avoided calls never returned them or any of my text. When I did talk to her by calling her from a number she didn't know I got a lot of excuses. She starts of good but as far as my experience, I wouldn't recommend her for long time attorney maybe once but after that she's not good .

Mr. Hancock was hired and paid in full to defend my husband in a criminal case. Their first meeting was in a parking lot....what?! Husband has since been to court three times. This lawyer hasn't shown one time. He also will not answer his phone or return calls. In my opinion Mr. Hancock should face criminal charges...he was paid in full to defend a client, then a no show. This to me is theft. Also, when we are a no show in court, they put a warrant out for us. The same should apply to everyone whether you are the lawyer or the defendant. This is ludicrous. My husband is not his only victim. There are more. I just don't understand how an attorney can just do this to people with no consequences whatsoever.

If you or your loved one's freedom is on the line, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! About 10 years ago, I was referred to Mr. Hancock by another attorney to represent my husband due to his cases location being in KY (he is licensed to practice in both states). He kept communication lines open, displayed a respectable and strong presence in the courtroom, treated my husband with respect and fought for him while also working with me, allowing us to make payments. With that said, it was for all these reasons that we contacted Mr. Hancock a few weeks ago in hopes of retaining him for my husband's defense counsel in regards to a more recent matter. Mr. Hancock, again agreed to represent my husband and stated that we could make payments but that he would need a deposit of $1k, which we agreed to. It took us a few days but we were able to procure the funds and once we did, we made NUMEROUS calls to both numbers that are publicly listed for Me. Hancock over the next few days, leaving voicemails that we had the down payment plus some. After leaving MULTIPLE messages with no response, I then proceeded to text Mr. Hancock a slew of messages (all of which were completely respectful in nature), asking for any response, at this point, even if he had, for some reason, decided not to take the case. Nothing and he had been informed and was knowledgeable about the urgency due to his court date being only a couple days away. I understand that things happen and situations arise that are personal and even emergencies in some instances but to this day, we have yet to hear from him. SO AGAIN I REPEAT, DO NOT WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON THIS MAN-- HE HAS SHOWN NO RESPECT OR EMPATHY OR REGARDS FOR US AND FOR WHAT REASON? YOU DONT DO THAT TO SOMEONE...ESPECIALLY A FATHER OF 4 CHILDREN WHOSE FREEDOM IS AT STAKE, WHO HAS ALWAYS PAID ON TIME, BEEN RESPECTFUL, AND NEVER GIVEN ANY REASON FOR THIS BLATANT DISREGARD!!

Chris is the man! I got pulled over for doing 15 over the speed limit just entering Chemung County on my way to Horseheads while passing another driver on I86 and the officer cited me for 10. It was Good Friday that day and this wasn’t the best Friday for me to get pulled over lol. I am a PA (out of state) driver so even though the points wouldn’t affect my PA driving record, my auto insurance would have spike if I would have plead guilty to the ticket. Plus I will be moving to New York State shortly so I had to take care of this somehow. I talked with Chris Tunney who assured me that he would able to talk the ADA into reducing the points. And he did just that. In New York state, 10 over the speed limit is 3 points. Chris got my speeding ticket reduced from 3 points to 0 points and a non moving violation. He came through for me like he said he would. If you ever get pulled over, Chris is the man to talk to.

I was looking at this site and saw the negative review from the guy whose case was dismissed and I am surprised that he was complaining about a dismissal. I had Mr. McBride deal with a Felony Assault with a Weapon arrest back in 2010 and I was happy with both the result (no conviction on my record) and the service (he immediately presented my issues to a supervising District Attorney). I would use this office again without hesitation as the fee was a fraction of what other lawyers charged for this. Maybe things changed or maybe the other client really had different expectations than I did but, I don't see how you can complain about a dismissal?

I was arrested on a restraining order violation. Hired Mr. McBride as my attorney. This was a very, very easy case for ANY attorney to have dismissed. My opponent had removed a critical part of the Judges order in the restraining order which prohibited me from being arrested. When the Sheriffs did not see that order, I was arrested. Mr. McBride spoke to the District Attorney assigned to my case and immediately showed the DA the discrepancy in the two restraining orders: One said I could not be arrested (mine and the original courts), the other did not have that page (my opponents he gave to the Sheriff for evidence). The DA immediately asked Mr. McBride, "How do I know your client did not write that himself and stick it in there?" (fair question). Mr. McBride said, "You don't. I don't. Get the original court order and get back to me." When the DA obtained the original court order and saw the original and mine were identical and my opponents copy had that critical page missing, the DA knew immediately that page was removed and, knowing there was no way the DA would win this case, dismissed the case before trial. Easy case to have dismissed before trial. Why so few stars when he won my case? Having Mr. McBride return phone calls was a case in futility. This attorney just NEVER corresponds with his clients. In my case, the first meeting with Mr. McBride and the DA was in November. The case was continued until Dec 18th for the DA to receive the original court order. After December 18, I did call Mr. McBride a couple times, hoping to get an update before the Christmas break. No such luck. I phoned Mr. McBride at least 10 times in January. Never a return call. I phoned Mr. McBride at least 5 times in February until he finally answered his phone. I asked him for an update on my case. He said the case was dismissed back in December. I asked why he didn't call me or send me an email or a text to let me know that it was dismissed. Mr. McBride said, "The court should have done that." No Sir. You're MY attorney. I hired YOU. YOU do that. Not the courts. That's what you get from Mr. McBride. Good luck receiving updates or a courtesy return phone call. I'm sure when Mr. McBride improves on this much needed aspect of his practice, his ratings will dramatically improve as well.

If I could give this lawyer Adam Farkas no stars I would. Adam was very unprofessional. We paid this lawyer for a first appearance that he didn't even show up too! First appearance was reschedule and Adam had every excuse for not being present at the time of the call instead of taking ownership of missing the zoom. On top of that Adam requested more money for "filing". He did so many things wrong in so little time. It was a complete mess! We had to switch to another lawyer. Adam wouldn't even refund us which we paid him for a first appearance that he missed! Worst experience ever I would not recommend this lawyer at all for any case!

Adam represented me in a traffic citation, which is 'light’ work for him because most of his work is in serious criminal charges. I am an attorney myself, but not a criminal defense attorney, and I was very pleased to see Adam pursue the weak points of the charge against me by succinctly and clearly, but not obnoxiously objecting to irregularities and questioning the witness against me. His courtroom demeanor was highly effective in bringing out the judge’s sense of fairness against the bogus charge against me. In fact, Adam brought out many points showing that the opposing witness is the guilty party, which is the actual situation, so I won ‘hands-down’. The policeman who was in the hearing room to keep people from brawling kept looking at me like he hated me, over a traffic accident over which he had no prior knowledge, all he knew was that I was a defendant, so it goes to show you the prejudice of law enforcement against defendants, (you know the idea, that if a policeman said it, it’s the gospel truth), which Adam Farkas was able to completely overcome by raising very important points about the state’s case and the testimony of the opposing witness. In fact, Adam Farkas raised important verifiable and unquestionable factual points that show that the alleged infraction by me was completely physically impossible, which are facts that the policemen should have known, but didn’t know, and that won the case for me. He didn’t even need me to testify, I just sat there listening to Adam bring up important questions about the facts of the accusation and to question the opposing witness about facts that showed the illusion that I had committed a crime. Adam also told me about a hearing he had earlier in the day in a felony case in which he scorched the evidence against his client, and won that one too. He is the best criminal defense attorney that I know of. Would I hire him again? Absolutely yes. I even paid him more than he asked, out of gratitude for his good work. While the bulk of my legal work as an attorney is in transactional work, I was co-counsel at a U.S. Supreme Court case (on prisoner rights) so I am familiar with courtroom advocacy at the highest levels, and Adam was as good as the attorneys I have seen at the U.S Supreme Court. The world needs attorneys like Adam Farkas to stop false charges against people. He definitely has a gift for this kind of work.

I can state that Mr. Mosko helped me tremendously in my particular case. He was referred to me by a co-worker. I found him easy to talk with, very available, and he guided me through the maze of the criminal justice system. He was always early, and met with me as often as I needed to help me through paperwork and court preparations. I was naturally fearful at the beginning of my situation, but Mr. Mosko guided and advised me well. I cannot imagine the turns my case would have taken had I not found this attorney. I would recommend Mr. Mosko to anyone needing legal help.

I wouldve ask more. He never responded to anymore of my phone calls. He informed me to text him. That didnt work either. Adam was my court appointed attorney in a case involving CPS. He did nothing. Refused to do simple things I requested. I actually had to go above him and ask the judge himself if I could speak. My child would have went to foster care if I had not spoke up and did his job for him. I fired him and hired Steven McNeil. And I won after firing Adam. He's lazy . Unprepared. Rude. Lee Ruslander is an EXTREMELY GREAT lawyer. The way he presents himself in the courtroom is great and his cross examination skills are top notch. He intimidates law enforcement officers on the stand testifying and the District Attorney will completely hesitate to put a witness on the stand with Lee Ruslander in the courtroom. Lee gets the entire courtroom quiet and confused and the District Attorney won't even know what he's even doing. Great lawyer. He's your man if you need a good lawyer. He had no interest in defending my case. All his interest was to strike a deal with the prosecution. I asked for a jury trial on 4 M4 charges and his response word for word was "I'm not taking this to a jury trial, that's stupid." He told me at my first hearing "Let's get Discovery and we'll go form there" Two weeks later at my second hearing, "No discovery, let's schedule another pretrial." Two weeks after that, I called him the day before the pretrial and asked about the discovery he simply said "No." I asked him to file a Motion to Dismiss on grounds of The 6th Amendment, right to a speedy trial, and again a simple "No" I asked why not and he said "I signed a time waiver" I asked him "Why would you do that without my consent?" His response was, "I'll see you tomorrow" and hung up on me. The following day in court, he filed a motion to withdraw from my case, and lied to the judge saying that the repeated disputes over the phone was the reason for his withdraw. I talked to the guy 1 time on the phone through my entire case. He also called me a "Jailhouse Lawyer" because I refused the deal that he made with the prosecutor and asked for a jury trial that he thinks is stupid. My personal experience with Mr Borst is he has no interest in defending his client. He simply wants to make a plea deal and cash easy money checks. Extremely unprofessional. Nasty attitude. Rude. Disrespectful.

While many people can simply make a bad claim about a lawyer without backing that claim up with facts, I can back my claims up with facts. Walk in and sit down in Cappy's office and you will immediately witness that he is an extremely unorganized man. Where being unorganized is not a necessarily a bad quality in itself, when it hinders a person in the function and effectiveness of their duty, THEN it becomes a bad quality. While representing me (or should I say misrepresenting me) Cappy once allowed the opposing party to write up the compromise that was agreed upon in court between my ex husband and I concerning the details of the custody of our daughter. The agreement was completely bastardized by the opposing attorney and sat on Cappy's desk for weeks; because it was neither read nor challenged, the time limit for the challenge ran out and the bastardization thus became a court order. This one catastrophic stroke of incompetency on Cappy's part devastated our case and my child's future and rendered the $14,000 dollars that I had paid up until that point WASTED! When confronted with this complete failure on his part, not only was he not sorry but he responded with an almost frightening look of outrage! We were forced to release him as as our lawyer and not pay him the measly $1,000 that he insisted we owed him, Cappy even had the audacity to threaten us with action if we did not pay him. The losses that our family suffered because of the incompetency of Cappy Weiner never were recovered, and I don't just mean the financial losses, I mean the loss of a healthy childhood for my daughter. BEWARE, Cappy Wiener.

His communication skills are absolutely awful, between replying in a timely manner & being overall VERY disrespectful. If you want nothing achieved on your end, hire him. He will be able to do what he does best, absolutely nothing.

This guy is scared of his own shadow in court. It's no wonder he had to weasel his way into a political bureaucracy job where he can hide his incompetence.

They never stand with the victim. I've sat in cold court rooms as they give the defendants continuance after continuance but as the victim you miss court one time and they allow the charges to be dropped so easily. There is no point of filing charges they either going to torture you by making you sit in cold courtrooms until you give up.

She was retained for a case but she was overwhelmed with vacation and other cases as she verbalized when she removed herself from my husbands case less than 2 weeks before he had to attend court leaving him with no lawyer to appear in court for a nasty custody battle. He was unable to find a new attorney last minute due to the severity of his case. In the end he lost joint custody of his son and Attorney Carina Reyna knew how crucial her appearance was. This company is unprofessional, the attorney didn't really have any time to fight the case and she spreads herself too thin. She definitely should work on the quality of work and not the quantity of retainer fees she obtains, because the first time and only time she attended court for the case she was kinda lost and unprepared. Hopefully in the future this never happens to anyone else as she sharpens her skills and becomes more knowledgeable in her craft.

People of Whittier! Just because she's in Whittier, doesn't mean you need to hire her. Yes, we're all desperate for resolution and advice but PLEASE! Stay away from this lawyer! She's terrible at her job. Her service is way below average. The amount of money she charges for her so called services, you can get yourself a way better attorney in DTLA. Please message me directly, I'd be more than happy to give you more information. She should be disbarred. Paralegals do better paperwork than she does, and they charge waaaay less! Also, all the so called positive reviews are more than likely friends and family she has to burry negative posts. She also has a response / excuse for everything.

No la recomiendo desde su actitud deja mucho que desear.

Had some law trouble over 15 years ago. Was a young kid and had made a couple mistakes, dont believe he was out to do the best he could. As I look back 15 years from now I believe he did not even try though at the time he may have acted like it. Would not recommend for any defense, doesn't really care about results just money!!

Will tell you he can get you the best case scenario possible just to get your business then once you've gotten paid off he starts changing what he said and not holding up to his word. so you end up getting railroaded. Also is never on time. And does not communicate with you very well. Because he didn't communicate with me right I ended up having a warrant twice and going to jail for a failure to appear. all because he wouldn't communicate with me and tell me that he rescheduled my court dates I guess he thought I was supposed to know on my own, but that's his job to let me know when he does something for me.

Save your money I cannot say this enough. You rather go in with a public defender than to hire this person that knows nothing of the law and I have to sit down and educate myself about the law so I can educate him about how 5years probation for a second time dui is the maximum and 3 years is the minimum. He has the audacity to try and manipulate me into thinking 5 years is the minimum and his excuse is they always give 5 years. LOL. DO NOT HIRE THIS HORRIBLE LAWYER

My BFF's sugar daddy paid this attorney to get him out of some trouble a few years back. Don't know if he's a good lawyer but apparently pressured my friend into *more* than a professional relationship. The State Bar really ought to be on this guy.

We paid him good money and he didn’t even show up to my family member’s final court hearing, and they had to redo much of the case bc of his unplanned absence. He lost an important file before that to, which could not be recovered. Totally unacceptable. We want our money back…

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
