Stefanie assisted me with my Aunt's Probate Estate and I was left nothing short of pleased. Being in the field of law myself (personal injury), I understand how time consuming this process takes. I feel she was fair with her fees and very professional. If I couldn't reach her, her paralegal was always available to help me out. I would recommend Stefanie if you are looking for a reasonable, affordable, trustworthy attorney.

Unfortunately did she not only take almost three years to complete a will and trust case but she also charged more than what was due to her. Looking through trust paperwork, she claimed she "cleaned" our mother's home which was "destroyed" for $1,500. Yet she never set 1 foot in that house, she was only speaking with the realtor via telephone. But she made the case stretch so long she was able to get over $10,000 from the trust. Would never do business with her again. Worst lawyer recommendation I've ever experienced.

It takes her forever to do an accounting for the trust. Then, when she gets it done it's presented Like it was done by an armature and incomplete. In today's world with computers and all, she should be able to provide an accounting within minutes from day 1 of being the Trustee. We don't know how she gets by with it.

Failed to communicate any updates or information about my case for months. Did not file necessary paperwork and evidence. Lost my case due to his negligence and failure to properly represent me. Started out great & stopped meeting his responsibilities as my attorney last year. No notice, no information, just silence and no response to my multiple phone calls, emails, and messages.

Though I called Brian Ramsey several times to ensure he would submit my remand to the review board on time, he failed to do so and he only answered my call after the case was thrown because he failed to file the paperwork by the due date. Even after he received the response he wouldn't let me know until several weeks later, and that was only because I kept on calling him. I was doing just fine until I hired Ramsey.

The worst Attorney I have ever used. I am being billed frivolous charges and not even receiving return phone calls from Dean or his assistants. After sitting down with Jackie his assistant last week, at her suggestion, due to his continued absence. I was told I needed to wait 4 business days to get a follow-up on the letter on both cases, motions and further counsel...when I called yesterday Sept. 14th back to back, I was hung up on!? What's worse is Jackie his assistant talked to my ex-wife and whatever she said to her was a disadvantage to me because right after that phone call, My ex-wife claimed she didnt agree with the Stipulated Order and decided to jump ship and get an attorney...and Dean DIDNT CHALLENGE THAT EITHER! This is ridiculous and I want a full refund for every dime that My girlfriend and I have given to Dean. He never did anything. He has taken over $3000 from my gf and I and he hasn't filed anything. He was late to every appearance. He has not represented or defended me at all in either of these custody cases. Dean Kajioka is the worst Attorney I have ever seen and I will be filing with the state board so no one else can be a victim to his Bullying antics. May God Forgive him for his evil actions.

Retained attorney Dean Kajioka for a civil matter. Dean Kajioka filed a lawsuit on my behalf and that was it. A year later I receive a call from a different attorney saying she worked with Dean Kajioka and was handling the matter. Three months later after many attempts of trying to reach Dean Kajioka a different attorney calls me saying he works with Dean Kajioka and he now is handling my case.It has turned into nothing but a nightmare for me, I am in the process of filing a complaint with the State Bar of Nevada. Please be aware of this attorney

Disappointed in the way Mr Thomson handled my boyfriend's case. If you take on a case and your client has OVER WHELMING evidence of wrong doing, along with a clear picture of what your client asks for, that means you believe in the case. You take it and fight for your client. Mr. Thomson asked for money with NO breakdown of costs or a bill. When confronted about his billing practices, he avoided the question. He said you can do things along the way to save on costs and made a promise to only take a certain amount of money from the PRESURED settlement, which he was told he could talk at and in the end told to be quiet and not allowed to speak. A promise and a hand shake to only take a certain amount of money should mean something. In the end he lied! Not right, do the right thing and and give him the money you owe him..

I was referred to this attorney by the Nevada State Bar Lawyer Referral service. After spending some time explaining my situation to his assistant, i was told that he would get back to me to give me a 1/2 hour consult for the fee of $45 as was outlined to me by the NSB Lawyer referral service. Some time later I received a call from his assistant where she informed me that he would not give me a consult, but when I asked for what reason and on what basis he refused to fulfill his commitment to the bar association, she said he did not say. In other words, he provided me no reason nor any basis for denying me this service for which he received a referral. This individual does not deserve to receive referrals from the Bar Association, and I can't imagine he is worthy of your trust and/or business. It's time for people to call out these callous, self-serving, unprofessional cads out there pretending to be decent human beings with no uncertain terms. John W. Thompson DOES NOT DESERVE TO BE A LAWYER IN THE STATE OF NEVADA OR ANY OTHER STATE, IMO.

Mr. Judd did not show to my pre-trial hearing. Stated he didn't have it on calendar.!? I requested my discovery for 6 weeks. After several calls, messages and persistance- he emailed it. . I also requested the 911 call, body cam footage and call history for the address in question. He was unable to obtain or provide that. Any of which would support my innocence. He was less than forthcoming and showed NO INTEREST OR INTENTION of providing adequate defense services. Mr. Judd did not provide services he had already been contracted and paid to do. I would not recommend this attorney.

He was flexible, pleasant, smart and even went the extra mile for me. I arrested on an unrelated charge (jaywalking-you heard correctly Jaywalking) and they wouldn't release me because of the pending unrelated case. He sent a friend of his who happened to be at court that day to make sure I was released. I ended up resolving my Felony DUI case exactly the way he indicated I would, successfully and with a gross misdemeanor instead of a felony. Thank God.

Not knowing any better I retained this attorney only to have him miss court hearings (which made the judge angry at me), fail to explain what my choices could do/be and fail to file importance documents with the court. I never felt like he believed in me. I have him so much information to challenge my accusers and he didn't use any of it when questioning them in court. He was very hard to contact in that he was slow to return messages/emails - if at all. He's like those attorneys on TV advertising a quick settlement (that helps them not you) and then he dumps you to fend for yourself.

Ben Child’s should be disbarred. He stole from me. A single mother. Took my money and quit the first day of court so he would not have to pay me back legally. He took advantage of a woman already being abused by a drug addict, alcoholic abuser trying to get custody of our son, after abandoning him for seven years, never paying child support and abusing me, raping me. He embarrassed me in family court. And stole my money because he didn’t do anything. Filed one motion for $2500. Thief.

An absolute waste of time and money. The attorney Robert Sparks was a joke, one of those that seem to favor the opposition in all steps of the process. Why are we paying you to hear your accolades of the other party? No backbone, sloppy and careless, eeks out the bare minimum and below, and may God assist you if you seek an itemized invoice from this firm. Partial refunds of retainers for work NOT DONE are a phantom concept, and upon termination of their subpar services, you are persona non grata. He talks an artificially enthusiastic game on initial consult, and after retained, becomes apathetically incompetent. Luckily we found much better counsel shortly afterward. This firm and R. In our case he never contacted the dr.'s and hospital that treated my wife at the time of the accident although he repeatedly promised to do so and LATER CLAIMED HE HAD done so. This negligence resulted in numerous liens and judgements appearing on our credit report that would not have been initiated had normal procedures been followed as promised and ok'd by us which was to give these suppliers a lien on the future settlement. Every one of the suppliers said they normally accept these arrangements and wait to be paid from settlement funds. Ask to see a record of how many cases he has actually taken to trial. No lawyer wants to end up in trial TOO OFTEN but NEVER ?Cold and uncaring . .

Attorney Jacob Sommer is a poor excuse for a human being, let alone an attorney. Jacob Sommer was appointed by the Court as the public defender for my grandson who was in custody on a minor assault charge. My grandson thought he needed an attorney so he asked for one and did not plead to the charge. Had he pled, he probably would have gotten out on and OR or only served a couple of days. It has been almost three weeks that he has been in custody because Jacob Sommer has done nothing. He has not even met with him. I have left him at least five message a day for the last two weeks. He does not even have the common decency to return my call. He obviously has the Court appoint him clients because he is worthless and cannot obtain clients on his own merit. STAY AWAY FROM HIM.

Mr. Sommer was court appointed as public defender in 2012 case. He immediately insisted that I agree to a plea arrangement which would have meant, at that point, pleading guilty to something I had not done. Over the next 6-7 weeks he failed to contact any of the people on my witness list as supplied to him...names and phone numbers. The DA's office continued to make plea arrangement offers with each offer dropping more of the charges. Mr. Sommer was provided with both photo and documentary information to proceed with a reasonable defense and failed to followup on any of it. I was forced into a plea arrangement of "no contest" to 5 counts will all other (29 counts) dropped when it became clear that there was to be no possibility of a fair trial. I was waiting to sign into do jail time when he came downstairs from the district court and saw me sitting in the jail lobby...he stopped and asked how I was doing. In the ensuing conversation he made the comment "You know you were set up and railroaded, right?" When I suggested that it was his job as a defense attorney to prevent that or show it had happened, his response was that he had done the best he could. When I later had life threatening health issues and a letter from doctors recommending suspension of the balance (80 hours) of community service he and the Justice of the Peace and the DA responded (according to him) that they could not do this BUT I could leave the state without finishing the community service time and the court would issue an "in state only" fugitive warrant....meaning I could not come back to NV (assuming I left) without risking being arrested for not completing the community service time. I declined this "offer" and completed the time against my doctors' recommendations. This attorney immediately withdrew from the case.

Much like the other reviews provided, I can highlight similar feeling of dismay with my interaction. He was recommended to me by an attorney who specialized in another field as a professional who is familiar in employment law. After waiting roughly 20 min past the time scheduled I was excited to have a legal view on how my issues may play out. Within the first few moments of consultation, I was flushed with immediate disappointment for making such a rushed decision at a cost of $150. Having roughly 7 years experience as a HR generalist, with a bachelors from UC system I was dismayed to find the information he provided was little more than a google search would and starkly in contrast with what I know. Please beware if you do not present yourself as wealthy you may be stereotyped and simply a collection pot for a consultation fee.

I had a deeply disappointing experience with Larry Digesti. After some difficulty in finding a suitable attorney who was free to take on my case, I was referred to Mr. Digesti by another Reno employment lawyer. I met him for an initial consultation (for which he charged $150) and he agreed to represent me in a dispute with my employer. I thought myself in good hands: he is an experienced, well-connected attorney who seemed very sure of himself during our initial meeting. However, when we next met his performance was extremely poor. He was unprepared for our meeting, slow to grasp the issues at stake in my case, and dismissive of my concerns. As my disappointment in him became evident Mr. Digesti turned belligerent, and actually yelled at me and cast aspersions upon my character. At the end of a two hour meeting (billed at the rate of $400 an hour) I still did not feel like he had an adequate grasp of my case, nor did I have answers to the specific (and quite concrete) questions I had conveyed to him in advance of our meeting. Soon thereafter I decided to cut my losses and end our relationship. Even this turned out to be more protracted and unpleasant an experience than it needed to be. Just getting a refund for the unused portion of my retainer was a trial, since Mr. Digesti did not respond to my messages concerning this matter -- including a request that he mail me the refund check so I didn't have to drive in to pick it up from my home three hours away. Thankfully, I ultimately found my way to another lawyer who saw my case through to a successful conclusion (for a total fee that was less than what I paid Mr. Digesti for our brief and unproductive time together) and whose intelligence, backbone, and ethical compass did much to restore my faith in the legal profession. I understand that others have had more satisfying experiences with Mr. Digesti, but based on how things went for me I cannot recommend him.

I was referred to Mr. Jackson's firm from an acquaintance. I was passed around to 3 different attorneys in the same firm over a year and I was never told why. My guess would be they weren't going to make a lot of money and they didn't want to invest any time in the case. You could see that from their work, or lack thereof. Perhaps that's why I rarely heard from them and it was only after numerous calls and emails that they ever returned a call. I was never copied on correspondence and pleadings even though I requested that repeatedly after they sent out documents and pleadings that were riddled with errors and even had the wrong date for the Date of Loss. This was a simple BI claim. I was a passenger in a auto accident where liability was never disputed or denied. I was injured and I had the right to recover. As it turned out, I ended up with what I was initially offered by the insurance company, so I would have done better on my own, quite frankly.. All this firm did was drive up my out of pocket costs and yes there were costs to me... even on a Personal Injury case, In my experience, the folks at this law firm were untruthful, and did next to nothing on my case. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT HIRE THEM!

This attorney represented my claim with zero respect for my injuries or future welfare. For one settled case, he withheld my money for a year. For my second case, there was little to no prep for a hostile defense attorney except “Say you don’t remember.”. Well, I didn’t remember because it was 7 years from the accident to the totally unnecessary trial. Correct- 7 years. For a rear ender where the opposing client was clearly & admittedly at fault. This trial & 7 year ordeal corrupted a significant part of my and my family’s life.

Clark, Bar Counsel State Bar of Nevada/Las Vegas Bruce I. Flammey ORDER DECLINING TO IMPOSE TEMPORARY SUSPENSION This is a petition by bar counsel pursuant to SCR 111(4) concerning attorney Bruce I. Flammey, based on Flammey's conviction in Las Vegas Township Justice Court, pursuant to a nolo contendere plea, of first-offense driving under the influence. See SCR 111(2). Because Flammey's conviction is not one of those specifically discussed in SCR 111(6)-(8) as a “serious” crime requiring suspension and automatic referral to the disciplinary board, temporary suspension and referral to the disciplinary board are discretionary with this court. SCR 111(9).The gravity of drinking and driving cannot be minimized; however, first-offense misdemeanor driving under the influence is not the type of offense for which professional discipline is typically imposed. At first I was impressed with mr flamney He talked a very good game told me all of the things they HOA did wrong in my case but when mediation came.I felt he didn’t stand up for me and didn’t challenge them when they answered his questions which we both knew were not accurate. We reached an agreement that I wasn’t comfortable with. And when I changed my mind he sent me a refund for my retainer and wouldn’t answer my emails or phone calls. I feel he didn’t serve my best interest. I wouldn’t hire this guy. Find somebody else.

I had this attorney represent me in Family Court for more than a year. She was always difficult to reach. She kept the facts of the case to herself and barely ever spoke to me about it's progress. She rarely followed any of the information I gave her regarding my an my daughter's defense. After I told her about a pending meeting I needed her to attend with me that could compromise the case, she advised me to go alone, and my standing in the case was in fact further compromised. When I confronted her about the advice she gave me, she quit and left me to fend for myself.

Some time after representing me in obtaining custody of my daughter he accepted another family member of mine with the intent of fighting me for the same custody I fought for. This is a direct conflict of interest and even the judge called him out on it. He intentionally referred my blood relative to hire one of Geralds lawyer friends who had a prior incident with the judge causing there to be a different judge being appointed. This threw back the case to be seen at a later date. By doing this atrocity he prolonged the case well past what I could afford to pay my attorney. I was left facing the hardest challenge of my life alone without any representative aiding my case. If it had not been for this disgusting man pulling dirty and unlawful tricks I would have had my daughter and given her the life she deserved. It's no wonder his own daughter hates him, and rightfully so. This man is a deplorable, dishonest and shameful crook. Do yourself a favor and NEVER give him half a thought, find a real lawyer that will help you when you need it most, for this person would go to no ends for his own well being, never for anyone elses.

Pete Jr. Was brought on by another attorney for reasons unbeknownst to me. When my case went to trial, Pete said both in person and in writing that I would receive a settlement to the time of 250k take home. I was then instructed not to go to court the following day. After months of delay, Pete calls me to tell me that the doctors are not reducing the fees, and instead of getting a $250k settlement, I would now be only getting a $80k. If it weren’t for having the $250k figure in text, I would have been left out to dry. After refusing to take $80k and showing him the text of his original promise, the “miraculously” were able to come up with another 100k in which I took home $189k. The difference of $60k is huge. Not only that, Pete began threatening when I refused to take the $189k saying that if I didn’t take it, I wouldn’t get anything. My attorneys took home roughly $400,000 compared to the $189,000 after all I went through. This is on top of the fact that upon retaining my attorneys, they promised “in no circumstance would they take home more money than me.” I didn’t think anything like this was even possible. I advise anyone seeking counsel from Pete jr. to be very aware and get everything in writing. I deeply regret having got this attorney involved and have since filed both a few dispute and bar complaint.

Let me preface by saying that Pete junior was referred to me by a top litigator and I was told he's an exceptional criminal defense attorney. After my experience, I went back to the referral source to voice my experience and I was told that mine was not unique. The source told me that he no longer would be referring further clients to Pete junior. I hired Pete at a sizable 5-figure amount for a federal case. The persons involved in the hiring for my benefit had no problem getting in contact with Pete, as they were holding back retainer fee until they felt comfortable that he would give me and my case the attention deserved by such an extraordinary fee that he demanded. My friends and family questioned Pete at length and they felt assured that Pete would give me superior representation. We're all now incredulous at not only the misrepresentation I received, but the refusal by Pete junior and the office to take any action to do the right thing after the fact. The first issue lay in the initial hearing: 1. Pete didn't show up personally, but an esquire was sent. Not generally an issue, but... 2. the esquire wasn't briefed on the specifics and was not prepared for the government's position. This would have taken a moment's cursory discussion with the prosecution or a prior discussion with me beforehand. She never spoke to me until I entered the courtroom in custody. The esquire looked like a deer in headlights. That was the first red flag. 3. All of the legwork done in my initial arguments for my release were done by my friends and family, not by any attorney in this office. When a friend called to report where to gain documents, they asked him to make the calls to get these documents. If I didn't have this friend to do that work, it never would have gotten done. I'm supremely confident in that. The problems grew quickly from that point. What I was asking for wasn't extraordinary, simply basic communication. The esquire told me and my family repeatedly that she would visit me in custody to discuss the specifics of my case. This never happened. So my family had to pay for and set up an account with Pete's office just so I could call the office. And even then, I never was able to speak to Pete. My family asked several times for someone to visit and discuss my case. Finally, after a month in custody, an investigator was sent to speak to me. The investigator was competent and as helpful as an investigator could be. But when it came to the legal questions that I had, his answers were, "Again, I'm not an attorney. That's not a question for me." I probably don't have to explain why that's a frustrating answer to hear. After a month, I still hadn't spoken to any attorney in the office aside from the 10 minutes I'd spent in court with the esquire. I couldn't get any answers that I was looking for and the communication was nil. My family hired a different attorney for 20% the amount paid to Pete Christiansen jr. This attorney didn't have Pete’s smooth-talk down but he got me results. As busy as this new attorney was, I was able to easily get him on the phone, he answered every question I had, he told me the good and the bad and kept me abreast of every developing situation in my case. Contrary to claims by Pete's office that he's the best, this new attorney did everything that Pete's office didn't. I felt I could receive the balance back from my retainer, seeing as how Pete was hired on an hourly basis as my attorney of record. 8 months after I hired Pete, the first time I actually spoke to him, and after several months of hounding the office for return of the balance of my retainer, he told me that I won't be seeing any of my retainer back and he's entitled to keep the full amount regardless of how many hours he worked on my case, which was little to none. He claimed it was a flat fee for only my detention hearing, to which he's provided no proof of in any communications.

In 2 cases this atty represented me on he withdrew just weeks before trial. I was a new single mother at the time and the victim of multiple accidents causing me to have have surgeries. Looking back at the record, it's apparent Cap had no trial experience and bluffed his way through the legal motions until a trial was ordered, then withdrew, without notice, leaving me hanging with medical bills and no legal recourse. I'm just VERY sorry I never filed a complaint with the State Bar.

I would not suggest this lawyer to anyone. This lawyer was hired to represent me and my sibling in a personal injury case where my mother passed away as a result of a automobile accident. It has been almost a year and a half since the accident and the law firm has yet to settle the case. The insurance companies agreed to pay out to my mother without litigation, however a year and four months later the law firm has yet to take the necessary actions to resolve the case. What I find most disrespectful is that the office refused to take calls or return calls. I must note, it is not like we are constantly calling the office for information. I would say that Brenda is the worst case manager ever. I would also say that the office was not 100% honest with us. They claim that they did not represent an estate. Yet, they had to file an order to set aside the administration of my mothers estate to disburse the funds received from one of the insurance companies. When they filed the documents in probate court, they failed to include all the required documents so the case was taken off calendar and rescheduled for another date. We have called several times to obtain the documents required for signature and they refuse to take our calls. I also find that they should have informed us from the beginning that probate would be necessary but they did not because they found a way to make a easy 33.3% from the settlement when I believe that they should have referred us to probate in the first place. Don't waste your time with this lawyer especially if the person has passed away. You will still need to go through probate because the insurance company is going to pay whatever settlement you are entitled to, to the estate.

I hired Tom Burton to review a contract for the sale of my business because the lawyer representing my partner buying me out felt it would be a conflict of interest if she advised me. She drafted and composed the contract, and revised it after Mr Burton read it and suggested some revisions. Mr Burton charged me over twice as much as she did and she did most of the work. I will never hire Mr Burton again and would certainly not recommend him to any one unless you have ALOT of money you don't need and want to pay to him.

  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
