I was referred to Mr. Anderson on a professional matter. From the beginning he took on an arrogant, semi-insulting attitude. Despite my efforts to calm him down he insisted on talking over me and a couple of times he raised his voice. It was hardly professional or even minimally courteous treatment.

Crooked lawyer wouldn’t even begin to describe the type of representation that I received. He couldn’t even hide the fact that he was brought and immediately sided with the other side. There is one area where he fair at least; he lies for his incompetent staff. He lies so much that he doesn’t even know what the truth is. Highly untrustworthy, incompetent, and unprofessional. If you are looking for an ambulance chaser, this is your guy. I highly recommend that you stay away from this fraud!

This woman has no business having a law degree. I'm waiting 5 months after my arrest to have a bind restrictions lifted that was set by lies. I was innocent of my charges and sat in county without her obtaining the evidence to prove my innocence: photos of my injuries, illegality of my illegal bond set by Judge Reinhart. She waited past the statue of limitations to file the complaint on the judge and forced me to accept the illegal bond set in my absence. She's unprofessional. Instigators, and you would be better off representing yourself. Just worthless

I definitely felt like her opinion was biased and her opinion was in favor of my ex who has a six figure income. I got very judgemental looks and attitude from her. I would never recommend her. Oh and she likes to send you bills 5 months after they are do saying they need to be paid in 30 days or she will freaking SUE you? How is that ethical?

I never really felt Carl looked out for my best interest. He seemed to just go through the motions. Write him a check and lets get this process done as quick as possible was the way it seemed. He overlooked some major concerns i had in the beginning of the process. I thought maybe i would eventually think he was pretty standard but i really wish i would have went in a different direction. Going to court is very stressful so make sure you find someone that is knowledgeable and not just trying to make a dollar.

He closed for both the seller and the buyer on the same house on subsequent days. He put a lien on the property for the seller and did not file it until after the buyer closed. It took me over a year to straighten out my husband's estate. A complaint was filed and I was advised that he was disciplined.

We hired this attorney to help us with family issues. Instead of calming things down, this attorney sadly made matters much worse than if we did nothing at all. A family member ask him to change our will. It was very complicated and lengthy, so we excepted that he was looking out for our best interests and signed it. When other family members read the will it was not at all what we requested. We had to retain another attorney to resolve all issues.

As a client I found Tommy Hill's services greatly lacking. He seldom returns 'phone calls, despite my frequent requests, and is generally uncommunicative and unreliable. Mr Hill postponed my hearing 3 times without informing me. Mr Hill missed vital information regarding liens when researching my case; prolonging the procedure even more. The judge gave his verdict last month, 4 weeks ago, yet Mr Hill has not seen fit to inform me.

I paid this attorney over $2000 per a court order in a divorce custody case. She NEVER once spoke to any one on my behalf but spoke to every friend and family member of my ex wife. She cost me visitation to my son even though I have no convictions or ANY criminal record. She plays favorites and has the Lexington County Judges in her pocket. Beware of this attorney!!!!!!

Mr. Parker failed to represent me. He only talked to me 14 times in 2 years. He didn't care to find out who I was or even call to ask how I was doing. He just wanted to settle from day one. I asked him to fight to get my knee taken care of and he just said he didn't think they would cover it. It was reported the day it happened but because a Dr. Didnt do an mri it just showed not broken. A couple months later went to another Dr. Because of severe pain . MRI showed torn meniscus and bone splinter. He told me not to worry about paying the bills, he said my insurance should cover them not workers comp but I told my insurance it was due to injury at work. Now I owe them close to 10,000.00. I have refinanced my home in order to survive. I haven't been able to do much work because of extensive injury to elbow, wrist, and knee. I lost the case because he really didn't try to work the case and keep informed. Be careful and check the attorney out. Just because I had a good attorney 14 years ago with a similar case doesnt mean you will get a good one again. My fault trusting him.

Ms. Saraniti is a very detail oriented attorney who performs collections for our organization. Ms. Saraniti has been able to collect a significant amount of funds that had moved to collections for our Homeowners' Associations allowing the HOAs to minimize their bad debt each year. We are pleased to work with her as we know her involvement in Community Association Institute keeps her on top of any legislative concerns and case law precedents. In turn, this enables us to be on the forefront of HOA collections.

I hired this attorney in 2014 for a family law case. I had to rehash the story multiple times because he legitimately would get confused. During the actual case, his paralegal was telling him what to mention and he still did not remember once we were in the courtroom. The one thing that he was a bulldog on was his money. If I could have gotten him to focus the same energy that he used to asked for a payment in remembering the facts of my case, this review would be very different. It almost feels as if I was conned twice. Do yourself a favor and seek a better attorney. I had invested to much money in him to fire him and rehire someone else.

Was appointed Bea Hightower by the state as defense lawyer for dss case. Bea did nothing towards my defense, and therefore DSS was allowed to present a false diagnosis which resulted in termination of my parental rights. I requested an appeal, and Bea did nothing, therefore I have lost my child. Not a good lawyer in my opinion.

She told me I couldn't afford to stay in my house. Three years later I'm still there. She told me I should take my kids and move to a cheaper house. When I told her it was important for them to have that stability, she said I was a codependent. Like my caring about my children was a character flaw to her. For an hour, she screamed at me --- like a psycho. She was so nasty and demeaning she almost made me cry. This is how she treats domestic violence victims.. She was totally uncaring, ignorant and behaved like a bipolar off her meds. I got to pay $300 for the privilege of this insulting, incompetent lawyer.

I hired Montrio Belton for my personal injury case. He never returned my phone calls or emails, never contacted me with updates, and seemed generally disinterested in my claim. When he does speak with you he is loud, rude, unprofessional, and forgets important details of your case. If you do have the misfortune to hire this attorney, speak to his assistant because she typically will tell you what is going on with your case and she is always friendly and knowledgeable.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
