Carol Adams handled my mother's estate when she worked for a firm that specializes in elder law. She was always very efficient and completed tasks like the estate tax return quickly, which saved me legal fees. When she left that firm my case was assigned to someone else and it's been a disaster. I really miss Carol. She's also a very sweet person.

Carol Adams used delays for 3 years soley to increase her legal fees. She Rarely responded to calls and emails. When she did respond, she would say "everytime you call I get to increase my fees!", then she would end the call without answering any of our questions. I served her with a citation to produce a formal accounting. In August 2007 she appeared in Queens Surrogate Court without the accounting and asked for another delay citing the need to hire an accountant. The estate remains open since 9/05 to present. I had to take Carol Adams to court to remove her authority over my minor children's inheritance. Carol Adams told me she legally could not turn over their money until they reached 21 years of age. I prevailed in court and am now guardian and joint owner of their money with the Surrogate Court. Carol Adams's authority over my children's money was 'discontinued'. I would never want another client to go through what we have been going thru for 3 years. Carol Adams' last emai told me to "get a life" when I requested the specific language in the WIll which stated the beneficiaries forfeited any interest on the estate assets, which she claimed we was not.due to us. The NY Surrogates Court agreed with the beneficiaries, that we will be entitled to all estate interest.

This attorney is the worst , she mishandled my case dragged it out and made everything difficult. She also has no communication skills, I would call for advice on a emergency situation and she left me stranded and it hurt my case . The most disturbing part of it she works with the opposite party attorney, that attorney then fabricated the information in court to help hurt the case. This attorney drinks as well. It’s visible her patience with her clients are defensive, she makes you feel less than. She’s irritable and lazy. She doesn’t care about children well-being. To add if you’re pretty woman she will make you very uncomfortable stay away!

Ms.Ibok represents my 3 young children in family court and I am Pro se. She communicates with the respondent's attorney and refuse to communicate with me after I've made several attempts to reach a compromise (the respondent is the paternal grandmother who gained custody of my children by default on my part and consent by the father). Ms. Ibok was bought on my case after the prior children's attorney withdrew after I exposed her to her supervisor for misrepresentation. Ms. Ibok unfamiliar with my custody case requested NO contact for myself & three young children 8, 7, and 6 at that time. Now their 9, 8 & 6. I haven't seen or spoken with my kids since 1/17/18 to present day nor has the father. On one occasion I visited her office it was May 22, 2018 and when the receptionist went to get her she came out and saw it was me and she said curtly " you can't come to my office" closed the door and walked away ; prior she consistently ignores my emails. I filed a motion to show cause to recuse her for her incompetence and conflict of interest. She has NOT represented my kids properly, they do NOT want to be alienated from their parents and has ALWAYS maintained that via supervised visits w social workers and court reports and ACS. Still Ms. Ibok works along with the respondent and her attorney ALL are seniors. My children are being neglected by the pgm( paternal grandmother) and Ms. Ibok fails to advocate for reunification of my family DESPITE the fact BOTH parents do NOT have ANY abuse allegations and the pgm lost her parental rights for all 6 of her own kids and is currently terminally ill. Ms. Ibok when asked if my kids wanted to see me in court claimed she explained to my kids client and attorney privilege and they are exercising that right. I KNOW MY KIDS AND THAT IS A BLANTANT LIE!!!! if my kids DIDN'T want to see me that would ONLY solidify her REQUEST so WHY on God's green earth she would withhold that information. This is deliberate omission and willful deception and misrepresentation of the facts. She CAN'T even pronounce my 1st born MOSES's name and she speaks incoherently there is no way my kids comprehend her claims. She should be suspended immediately or disbarred.

I visited Mr. Morisset in his office on February 13, 2015, for a free in-person consultation to discuss my case. After meeting with him and reflecting on his qualifications and proposed legal strategy, I decided to hire him to represent me. On February 18th, 2015, I mailed him the retainer and emailed him the signed agreement and my court appearance ticket so that he knew where and when to appear. My court date was scheduled for March 16, 2015, and I on March 13, 2015, spoke to him and confirmed that he would be in court. On the morning of my court date, I arrived at 8:45AM (appearance time was 9AM) and sent him a text and phone call letting him know once again where to meet me. By 9:10AM, I received neither a phone call nor a text response so I after speaking with the court marshall proceeded into court and argued my own case. I called him after leaving court and received no answer so I left court to get to work. That evening, I sent him an email that he was terminated and asked him to please return my retainer. His response to my request was that he had worked on my case (as shown above, he never arrived in court for the appearance time) and that he would only return $1,150 of my $1,500 retainer. I immediately filed a small claims case against him and his business. After several small court appearances (NYC courts are very backlogged), I received a settlement against him in February of 2016. I called and texted Mr. Morisset over a 6-month period to request payment but received no response. I consulted the NYC Marshal and they informed me that they could easily take on my case and were perplexed as well about why an attorney wouldn't pay a judgment (illegal and unethical). After 6 months, I filed a levy with the NYC Marshal and they levied his bank account for the funds. Mr. Morisset is an unreliable attorney for, 1) Failing to appear in court 2) Refusing to returning my retainer when he did no work 3) Refusing to pay me even after a judgment had been issued If you'd like more backup, I'm happy to provide more documentation on my claim as I have emails, texts, and court documents proving his unethical actions.

I had the misfortune to meet Mr. Soss as my 18B lawyer. In 2005 or 2007 the event was so traumatic I can hardly remember the year. This was my first time being arrested and jailed. While in cell counselor Soss asks what happened, I proceed to tell, he is visibly upset because I say I am poor and washing out by hand my son's school uniform shirt. He interrupted, and never got to hear that I didn't call the fire dept., that I went down stairs to tell fire dept. they weren't needed, that while standing in my lobby I couldn't even get the fire dept, attention, that NYPD shows up on the scene, that I say what are you guys doing here, they say they must be here, I say o.k. and ride up in elevator with them, I hold apt door open for all to enter, fire dept. goes in, I'm still holding the door open for PD to enter (while standing inside my apt) , that they don't enter, that I eventually(this is a while) start to close the apt door to join FD in the kitchen, that before my hand can release the knob, PD kicks the apt door in my face causing me to fall back bump my head and fall unconscious to the floor, that when I regain consciousness I come up swinging but catch myself to make a graze sound on the jacket of the female police officer, that now when I learn I am being arrested for non compliance I fall to the floor with my hands under me so I wont be misunderstood as being threatening so I wont be beat to death (t.v.), that when the police supervisor arrives I tell him they kick the door in my face, his reply of "sure" adds insult to injury, that while the FD were in my kitchen they took a knife and heated it and burned grooves in the refrigerator and microwave ( I learned this later after returning home) which is why I got the feeling I should go to the kitchen, that the male police officer took a note taped to the back of the apartment door addressed to the burglers, saying "stop braking in and eating our food from the kitchen, we barely have enough food for ourselves" and put it on the wall next to the door and called ACS on me. And that the FD lied and said I was arguing with the police, which never happened. And finally counselor Soss had the nerve to ask my mother when picking me up from jail to drive him home which we did. had he actually listened to my story he and I would have been compensated by a lawsuit against the NYPD. but he didn't so I was falsely arrested spent time in jail went to the bathroom in front of other people, my 11 yr old was ripped from his bed and taken to my mothers home. and I was told that nypd apologized by not showing up to the court date and going on vacation.

This lawyer was nice, but not particularly capable. For example, he failed to understand the different between should and must. Must is a legal obligation while should is a recommendation. He told me that something was required, when relevant court document said "should" do something. Isn't that basic for a respectable lawyer to know? When I corrected him, he didn't acknowledge the mistake or try to understand why I didn't follow the recommendation and instead said he thought it would be better to do it, without offering a compelling reason (actually not offering a reason at all) -- that's a really bad sign for a lawyer, as it seems like he is willing to prioritize his ego over his client. I don't think he did it intentionally, though. I gave him an extra star, because he seemed to try so hard and didn't overcharge me. I might have been able to work with him if he were humble enough to learn and improve his legal skills. I stayed around too long, and am posting this review so others don't make the same mistake as me.

My original lawyer was relocating to Georgia and referred me to Jacqueline Chinquee to finish my custody/child support case in Brooklyn Family Court. The first time we met was at a court date where nothing happened. I paid her. She went on to handle other cases she had for the day. She had her assistant to later contact me to pay for her parking for the day. I did not respond to that and did not send additional funds. I got another lawyer. That was a bright red flag for me.

in January of this year, my family hired Atty, C. Husbands for a holdover case and we learned first hand his poor work ethic and performance. In the many times we called his office and Mr. Husbands' was not available, his receptionist NEVER offered to contact the attorney by cellphone. So, most of our calls went unreturned. In the instances when we did speak to Mr. Husbands, we experienced listening to an attorney who was not forthconing with details, was easily irritated by questions and became argumentative when told he was speaking in a loud antagonizing tone. In short, he is unprofessional and belligerent. Needless to say, the case was settled in our favor with the tenant needing to leave by 5/31 or face a Marshall's eviction. It is now two weeks later and the tenant has not moved nor been evicted. That's because today we learned the marshall's office never received the attorney's paperwork to serve notice to the tenant. Total imcompetence. Do not use this attorney, avoid the headache.

Drove almost 2 hours for an in person consultation that cost me $200 only to tell me the same information that was given on the phone. Then when I asked a few questions about the process and her retainer agreement, I was suddenly reccomended to a new lawyer and we "weren't a good fit". Super unprofessional, the whole process and operation seemed a little sketchy from the beginning, but that took it to a whole new level. You'd think that a client who was doing his due dilligence and ready to do the work would be welcomed to a lawyer not a burden. Very dissapointed overall, just want this out there so someone else doesn't fall into the same pitfalls.

I was contacted by a girl called Nadia from this law firm as a response to their Craigslist posting for a Secretary. She contacted me at 8:30 pm at night speaking Russian and was not even listening me while on the phone. When I asked her to speak English she started to tell me she was calling to set up an interview for Wednesday. She gave me their address and phone number as (718) 513-3145 and address as 2799 Coney Island Ave, 2nd fl, Brooklyn. That address is wrong! When I called today to confirm my appointment for tomorrow there were 4 girls who were interchanging the telephone between each other and none of them, could confirm that appointment. I spoke that girl Nadia again, who pretended that she never called and spoke with me. This is a shady business and should be reported! Everyone should be aware of this firm.

Richard was my attorney when I purchased my home about a year ago. He was incredibly hard to reach throughout the entire process, and I mostly only dealt with his aid. He waited to tell me that his fee would be higher until closing. But the worst part is that he never actually gave me any real legal counsel before closing. Now that I've closed and have on going issue with how the heating/cooling system was improperly installed by the developer, he tells me there is no recourse except small claims court. He could have given me a lot of advice prior to closing, including checking with the Department of Buildings on the specifics of the installation and making sure that I would be protected after closing for things like this. If you want to have a lawyer that is on your side, do not hire Richard.

Just terrible. Our closing in Brooklyn went as poorly as I, or anyone I've told the story to, has ever heard of. The fact that my own lawyers, Richard's team, missed the fact that we'd have to file for non-resident NY taxes and that we had to come up with an unexpected $8,000 on the spot, discovered at the closing table by attorneys representing the other parties, is amazing. But that is only part of what went wrong with the process. For sure do yourself a favor and go with someone else.

Albert Khafif has been made the Co-Administrator by his brother-in-law, Jeff Cassuto, on an estate that he is now a benefactor of since the passing of his mother. This is an estate of a great aunt who died intestate...meaning she died leaving no Will. This has been in court for over 15 years. No one is contesting the Will...the estate was for millions of dollars and has been absorbed by greedy lawyers, state fees, and also mishandling of the entire estate. After reading the review by the previous writer I am ashamed to say he is my cousin and disappointed in his lack of compassion for a client. He was raised with a silver spoon and lacks empathy.

This lawyer wasn't in our favor. My mom had an accident couple years ago. ( March 18, 2005) she was hit by an MTA bus driver in jamaica on Archer Ave. She was heading to work so she could put food on the table. This almost cost her life and left her with her lefted hand badly injured and since then she wasn't able to work. We took this lawyer in our case since we didn't know anything about law. First he failed to give my mom all her loss rages money( he gave her half of the money);because the money went to his name. Second we had to keep calling him and find out what happened with the case, he never gave any updates. The first time my mom went to court( in 2007), he sent somebody else( another lawyer) instead. The lawyer came over my mom and screamed at her ( You lost, you don't get anything). When we spoke to Kaffif about that, he request another appeal. That same day he didn't show any concern about my mom. As we were waiting for the judge to say his finals decisions, the lawyer came over 5 minutes before and said that he just spoke to the MTA bus lawyer and said that they will us 500,000 dollars instead. We didn't have time to say anything. When we got back to the court room. The judge said that we lost the case and therefore we won't get anything. when went to his office couple weeks after, he said that if we are not happy , social services is here for that, we can go and ask for help over there. He said that we have to give him 3,500 dollars to go to another appeal, which we did but we never heard anything from him since then. He said that he didn't get pay because we lost , so din'nt the doctors and therapists. The therapists used to call us because they didn't heard anything from the lawyer, but they stopped calling because they got paid. Which means he got the money from the case, but kept it to himself. We did call him, but didn't want to pick up the phone. Not only we didn;t get any money because an MTA bus driver hit my mom but he left her with thousand of hospitals bills. We never got a chance to see the bus driver. I know it is untrue not to be able to retrieve the driver when there is a specific time, location and date he works. when you know the bus number, When my mom had so many witnesses and one of them did call 911that day. They had everything on tape. Because of everthing that happened my mom suffers from depression and we are not struggling to pay our rent. This lawyer is heartless and doesn't care about how you will live tomorrow. He doesn't work head to head with his client. We have tried to contact other lawyers after but they didn't want to take the case because it's been so long. We are living one day at the time and never got our justice. (

In February 2010 I hired Mr. Kent for an urgent work - 3 hours of his work plus $210 for filing an index for my new case in court. He said he worked "more than 3 hours, but will charge me only for 3 hours anyway". He said he'll mail me the results of his work. He also said he did file my case in court that day. He emailed me the calculations: 3 hours at $175, plus $210 for court index, $735 total. I gave him a check for $735 and started waiting. The check was cashed, and the mail never came. Almost a year after I email him asking about the status of our case. He said we "didn't have a case", that I only hired him "to write a complaint". I forwarded him all the email and a picture of the cashed check. He said he did not "remember" cashing it, even though sent him my bank statement twice already.

My friend from Brooklyn recommended Nona Tilley. I was a fool and listened to my friend’s advice. I regret it to much now. She filed my immigration application and it wasn’t correctly filed. I didn’t get my work permit on time because of that. It took her 1 year to finally file my application. She never responds to emails and phone calls. Have to call hundred of times before she can answer the question you have. Stay away of her. She will mess up your immigration case and your life. 1 star out of 5. WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME!!!!!!

He lies and he does not return calls. He told me over a month ago that he filed my motions and where waiting on the courts. I called him several times to follow up and I cannot get in contact with him. So I called the court myself to find out what's going on. They told me NOTHING WAS FILED. Its going on 2 months now and he has not filed anything and he will not return my calls. Time wasted and time is money. If he didn't want to do the work he should have just said that. I should have chosen a different attorney.

Waldeier has had a case since July 2022. She has failed to acknowledge a few things which makes me believe she is bias and won't be fair when a final order is made. This is the problem with some female Judges, Magistrates, and Referees, they assume the woman is always right. I am a woman AND a mother, mothers aren't always right or fair! Some bitter women/mothers use the child(ren) as a way to control the father. The case that Waldeier is presiding over, the mother took the child from its home state. She's failed to acknowledge that this is called parental kidnapping. Shouldn't she have asked if there was a custody agreement in place? If there is no custody agreement or proof of an unfit father, she could have temporarily ordered visitation rights. Instead, she constantly belittles the working father and doesn't ask the right questions to get to why the mother has taken the child from its father. When asked if they can visit their father, the mother freely and continuously tells the child, that they can't visit their father until after the case is done. THAT IS NOT TRUE and it isn't right!! Why wouldn't the mother want to work on co-parenting while this case is in limbo? It would show good faith on her part. Instead she'd rather use this to control when the child gets to speak to its father and deny visitation. Waldeier hasn't asked the mother why she told the child that he couldn't see his father until after the case. This is where Waldeier has dropped the ball! She has adjourned this case 3x with no explanation and she adjourns for 3-4mths at a time instead of the normal 4-6wks. Manhattan Family Court would NEVER do this! It's always about the best interest of the child, getting to the facts, and a fair solution. I've suggested to the Respondent that he switch Judges as thus far Waldeier has shown no effort in resolving this case quickly and her entire approach to his case has been lackluster. She has allowed the mother to do and say things when not spoken to, but penalizes the father if and when he responds to the mother's claims. She rarely asks the mother's attorney to control/silence their client, but she often yells at the father and his attorney. It almost seems like she takes dislike to men. Having someone like Waldeier handle a custody case is a recipe for disaster. There are AA and Hispanic children who grow up w/o their father because of Judges like Waldeier. Many fathers are capable of being the parents that Judges like her believe they aren't. Kids who are automatically given to the mother because that is what society believes is the right thing, grow up w/o fathers and miss out on a lot. I hope Waldeier rules fairly and takes into consideration the wrong that she is doing to kids when she adjourns these cases for months at a time, only to reconvene with the same situation, and leaving kids yearning for the other parent.

She is from Strazzullo law firm. Came to my court case unprepared. Nickle and dined me for absolutely everything. Didn't notify me about conference call that I missed regarding my case because I wasn't notified. I left messages and wrote her emails for three months, to please call me back but she did not return my call. Didn't really seem to care about me or my case. Extremely unprofessional. I wasted $6000 there! By the way, nothing got resolved and I switch to a different firm.

I do not recommend steven baker to anyone. He is the absolute worst attorney i have ever encountered. That man must have forgotten to take his medication the day i met with him. I was disgusted with him and wish i've never met him.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.

For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:

Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
