My wife and I have been working with her oldest brother (85 yrs old) to help him with a Will and a Living Trust. For the past 3 years we have traveled from our home in Durand Mi. to San Diego to provide him with advice and provide any help he may need to get everything right. The more we worked the more complicated and confusing this procedure became, OMG were we Stumped. This year we decided we needed professional help. So, what do you do when your 2000 miles away and don't really know anybody in a big city like San Diego, GOOGLE IT! That's exactly what we did and came up with a bunch of names of attorneys that claim to be the best anywhere. We started making calls to see who we liked the best and would be able to take care of our issues. We left voice mails and asked to have someone contact us to set up a meeting. We encountered a few who were vague and after listening to what we needed really didn’t seem too interested. Then Jason, called us and we were so happy with his attitude and wiliness to complete the needed documents on a very short notice. Everyone in that firm seemed to want to help us get everything right, signed, and registered they even worked through the weekend. So, we could rest assured that we wouldn't be caught up in a nightmare with the probate courts. Thank you, Jason, and Ashley what a great feeling to know we made the right decision when we chose you

They were incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, supportive and patient with us as we figure out the best path forward to suit some of our very particular needs. It’s obviously not a fun or easy topic to discuss and they were so understanding of that giving us options and suggestions that could be relevant to us. And allowing us the time we needed to sort things out amongst our family. Sometimes we wouldn’t be able to resolve things easily so we would be at a standstill for a while between me and my husband but they were great about checking in regularly without creating any additional pressure. ERTZ Law stepped in to help a close family friend with a very unusual legal problem. It was a hybrid of family law, estate law, and ended up with a conservator issue. Kelly's partner, Shawn Huston, was extremely helpful letting me know if there was any legal recourse I had against a previous landlord that was threatening retaliatory actions against myself for posting a negative (although 100% truthful) Yelp review about them. He was one of only a couple attorneys that responded to my request for advice & information on my situation. Although I do not have a viable case against that slumlord, it was reassuring to get actual legal advice on what my options were from an attorney. She did our will--took longer than expected, and we had to follow up with her several times to get status updates. I called her on 8/10 to do a simple legal name change, and she took over a month to start the process, then hasn't responded to any emails since then. I called to follow up on 9/22, and she told me everything would be filed by the end of the week...and nothing. Just called back, and was told yet again that she was unavailable and they had no updates.

After struggling to get an initial consult without being charged hundreds of dollars, I finally got proper attention to focus on my problem. However, once into the meeting, the head of the firm constantly answered his phone and left the room, which was unprofessional and rude. He then brought in an inexperienced attorney that came wrong advice on multiple legal issues. I ended up losing faith in their ability to take care things, so I am taking my business elsewhere after all this wasted time. I expected more professionalism and competence from this firm.

Steve took on my complex custody case (UCCJEA, special needs, split custody) December of 2018. Where previous attorneys had only shown me large bills, and larger losses, Steve helped calm me down, and plotted a better way forward.
He expertly navigated change of jurisdiction from Washington to California, responded succinctly to multiple ex parte motions, and eventually won the case for my family. All executed flawlessly despite less than ideal circumstances (e.g. being forced to argue in front of three different judges ... in one month). I ended up in a better situation than I expected, with minimal effort or outlay of cash.
Oh, and he talked me out of spending another $5K (with him) on what - in retrospect - would have been an 'overkill' motion. A lesser attorney would have taken my money and ran with it, despite an outcome that would have had little to no positive effect on my family.
Hire this guy, and don't look back.

I don't highly recommend this attorney unfortunately. Difficult to get ahold of and her email responses came across pretty rude and insensitive. Continually reminding of the fact "we wouldn't have been in this spot had we hired a lawyer years ago to handle this, now we have to pay for the mistake. " Probably said that at least 5 times or something similar . Personally, when you hire someone to help out navigate legal issues that are completely foreign to you that are stresseful and expensive it would be nice to at least have someone to work with that feels like is on your side and explains things that are understandable to someone witout knowledge of legal terms. I've worked with plenty of lawyers where that is the case where they have empathy for you and you feel like someone has your back. Unfortunately that is not the case with this Attorney Andrea.

I got my first dui Jan 2021 which involved an additional charge and resulted in probation. I violated my probation with another dui in may 2024 and that’s when I contacted David Simon. For this whole year I was anxious about getting jail time and David kept me informed the entire process. I only physically went to court twice and the whole process was smooth and easy and very guided. I was looking at potentially 6 months of jail but got 60 days of house arrest instead. I’m very happy with the result considering my situation and will be using his services in the future to help expunge my old charges and terminate probation early.

i asked for SDELC's help over 2 years ago after my aunt had a stroke and became cognitively impaired. i needed to take over the management of her legal and financial affairs and i worked with attorney scott templeton and paralegal ann roberts. both of them were very knowledgeable and helpful, guiding me through various legal processes. the two most complex issues were: (1) taking my aunt's bank to court since they seemed to want to fight me every step of the way when it came to accepting my power-of-attorney so that i could manage my aunt's accounts, and (2) setting up a conservatorship for my aunt so that i could comprehensively manage everything for her without any further legal challenges.
throughout it all, scott and ann explained every step of every process to me in a way i could easily understand. now that my conservatorship is fully set up, i'll continue to use SDELC for all of my aunt's future legal needs.
of course, i would gladly recommend SDELC (scott and ann in particular) to anyone who needs legal help for their elderly relatives!
