I hired Lauren through a recommendation and I’m so glad that I did! After using another attorney for my divorce and spending way more than I expected, I begrudgingly hired Lauren to represent me against a vindictive ex and her hostile attorney. I was recently in a difficult--and frankly, scary--dispute with my landlord, and initially felt completely intimidated and overwhelmed by the situation. I talked to a number of attorneys, including several of the more well-known tenant's rights firms in the Bay Area, many of whom gave me the run-around, or agreed to handle some aspects of the case but not others.

This review is long overdue. I reached out to Joel in 2018 after being self represented for the majority of my divorce proceedings. I needed help with finalizing the remaining steps in my divorce.
Although my divorce was initially filed in the Bay Area and had since relocated to Southern California, Joel was not only able to meet with me on short notice while on a trip there, he was also able to represent me from afar. A few months later, my divorce was finalized with no hiccups along the way.
He was always pleasant to work with, knowledgeable and extremely responsive given that most of our communication was via email and sometimes even txt.

Working with the law office of Cecelia Soboleski has been one of the best decisions I have ever made since my divorce process started.
I say this because despite the distance and time difference, I currently live here in the Philippines, we were able to communicate well. She manage to discuss the plans and educate me about the case thru zoom meetings and email. She gives you insight but she let’s you decide on everything. Deborah Dubroff guided me through a very long, contentious divorce that involved all kinds of non standard stuff (QDROs, out of state moves, spousal support, even a contempt hearing). When I met her, I was immediately struck by her candor, razor-sharp wit, and her obvious generosity of spirit. What I mean by the last is that she took lots of time with me during our initial meeting and really listened to me. She made me feel like everything would be ok, and it was. I won the entire case, including a very large settlement. She strikes me as extremely honest. She always charged me very fairly. To sum up, I think that Deborah is sort of the antithesis of the lawyer stereotype. She really cares about her clients and their outcomes. She doesn't overcharge. Esther represented me in the formation and signing of my pre-marital agreement. Throughout the process, she was extremely prompt, thoughtful, and professional. She followed up with me regularly when things were stalling with my fiancé's counsel. Esther represented me on visitation Modification Hearing order. She took my case about two weeks before the hearing and worked with me to get the supplemental declaration that needed to be prepared and submitted before the hearing. With only two weeks to prepare she was amazingly over prepared, confident and aggressive and did a great job. She had things finished well before the deadline and made it, so I didn't have anything to worry about. I was really impressed. She was available immediately by phone and email she never hesitated to give 100%. Look, divorce is not a pleasant thing to have to deal with, but the last thing you need is an attorney that you have to wonder about.

Mr. Matisoff agreed to take over my divorce case a few months ago. He sees discrepancies and knows what actions need to be taken immediately. At my first consultation, I told him I was looking for an attorney with integrity that would assist with a fair settlement for me and my kids in a high conflict divorce. I did not want to have to worry about questioning what I was being told or be left out of the conversation. He told me to meet with my then attorney first to see if a resolution could be found with the current support issue and try to get back on the same page with that attorney. I did as Mr. Matisoff suggested and realized I got more clarity from a brief phone conversation with Mr. Matisoff than I had in a 2 hour face-to-face with my then attorney. My experience with Mr. Matisoff thus far has been unlike that with my former attorneys. I received my monthly invoice today and I am shocked that his billing is more than reasonable. Had I started with Mr. Matisoff, my divorce would have been final long ago, less money would have been wasted and some peace might have been preserved. I don't know that mediation would have ever been possible with my spouse, but I don't think things would have dragged on or gotten out of control. Highly recommended.

Ms. Berkowitz is an outstanding attorney. Although she practices family law, she helped me win at the Office of Adminiztrztive hearing on a teacher dismissal case against LAUSD. Although we won at the OAH, the district appealed the OAH' s decision and shortly my case will be heard at the Los Angrles Superior Court on Thursday on December 10th, 2015.
Ms. Berkowitz is level headed and her no nonsense approach towards me and my case was beneficial and appropriate. She is tough if she needs to be and works well with others.
Ms. Berkowitz is an excellent representative for all of your legal woes.

I had a very complex case in San Diego , which required a lot of research, I received a letter from Dept. of Child Support saying I owed $80k, (from owing $0 Support ) I knew I had to get a lawyer right away to fight . I was paired up with Mr. Miller because of his patience and excellent research ability. With his help we were able to bring down a simple misunderstanding to a fraction of what they were demanding. Not only was I impressed but the judge also commended Mr Miller for the research he presented.

Matters of family law are always painful for everyone, and my case was especially hard. Attorney James Whiggam handled my divorce and he was professional and successful at getting me a great settlement. It's never easy to write about or disclose personal information involving Family Law, but I honestly found a good lawyer that performed her work exceptionally, so I feel I should let people know. I screened a lot of attorney's and discussed my personal situation. It wasn't easy re-living the ordeal. I quickly realized that the law is complicated and a lot of lawyers can focus in on one particular area and neglect the others. Other lawyers can hit the panic button and lead you to think that the situation is dire. I was looking for sound advice about my situation according to my legal options. And I found it in Susanne. She really listened and explained the law well. I met with her several times, in her convenient downtown location. I remember I had emailed her a bunch of questions, she brought those with answers to our consultation. Her professionalism and understanding of the law was a huge sigh of relief. I felt better knowing my options and what can and can't be done according to the law. Navigating the courts, can be daunting but she knows exactly how to do it. Stuart represented me with integrity and due diligence....Although my wife tried every trick in the book,Stuart was able able to find ways around it...He found case law etc and went the extra mile ,,He is very resourceful, responsive, low key when he needs to be yet unflappable and persistent when representing my interests. Dorie Rogers helped me to be awarded full physical custody/shared legal- I have final say on legal matters- from my son’s abusive and narcissistic father. For 13+ years I have dealt with attorneys that just seem to want to spin drama and then hike the bill up over it. Ms. Rogers didn’t buy into the drama from dad’s side. She was strategic and used her knowledge about the psychological aspects of our case. She recommended an amazing reunification counselor that contributed to the health and safety of our son. (Father defaulted on the reunification). She has an efficient team with her Parallegal and Office Manager Daenna and team backing her. I had Maggie as my defense attorney in 2006. I was being railroaded by people, who worked with my EX, I was beat up but put on trial! Because they and my EX were bad mouthing me harassing me, trying to make it my fault. I was told to take a plea, but there was no way I would admit to something that I didn't do! She told me she had spunk, and boy did she! The prosecutor was really good! She pulled no punches. Her favorite phrase was "smoke and mirrors"

Any legal proceeding is stressful, and family law is right up there: Maggie understood our situation, helped us prepare for various possible outcomes, and even smoothed out the wrinkles while we were waiting for the tedious wheels of the justice system.
