The world’s best attorney I appreciate every time and effort she has done with my case I’ve been working with her for the past three years. She is the best attorney I could even ever ask for what these bad reviews is not true. Wow! I’m not sure where to begin! I had the pleasure of spending two years with Candace Jones as my attorney in a Family law matter. This Attorney is extremely professional, informative, a beast in the courtroom, and a great person overall. I’m thankful that God led me to find her on Google. Best of all she is local! Great for men or women in need of an attorney. I am someone that appreciates Google reviews, but I also understand everyone doesn’t value the same wonderful qualities that Candace Jones brings to the table as an attorney and in general as a person. So, when making your decision while looking for an attorney, consider that everyone is not honest in their online reviews when it comes to the negative ones. However, I can tell you from my actual experience that she takes the time to fully understand the details of your case. Hired and initially good. I believe he is a good person. However, as my case progressed, poor guidance was given and it cost me physical protection from my abusive ex. When the case got complex, he clearly preferred to believe another attorney and showed more concern about his reputation than fighting for a little girl who was strong enough to report her abuser. When he was released from his position, he neglected to produce documents in his care that cost me over thousands of dollars. Still fighting in court to get payment due to his negligence.

A year ago I found Christopher John on Avvo, and because of good reviews I decided to go to their office for consultation. In the office I got a free consultation from MR Hannosh who works in Sunnien Law as an attorney. He said that they work together with Christopher. He was very nice and helpful and I decided to hire them to work on my divorce case.
I worked with Sunnien Law and Mr Hannosh on my divorce case.
I paid them for my divorce 4000$ in advance. As soon as I realized that Sunnien law spent all this money, I wrote them a letter that I don't want to work with their agency anymore, because I don't have a job and money and I am actually an international student. In 2 month they sent me an invoice and said that I have to pay them almost 4000$ on top of what I already paid.
I feel like these people tricked me because my English is not very good. They did a very bad job with my divorce case. I finally went to the court alone. They did everything to charge me as much as possible and do a very little job.
They work very badly, don't pay attention to details and they don't care about the result. NEVER hire them.

Not only did I feel like I entered another world when I first met Elyse Margolin - I did enter another world. This firm was radically different. Elyse was my 3rd attorney in a very complicated contentious divorce. She completely understood the issues immediately, had no problem grasping the twists and turns and contortions that had been going on. She was kind, warm and supportive, quick, smart, effective. She and her staff jumped in full steam and were personally invested, determined not to let any of the many balls drop.
That was 12 years ago. I am forever grateful to have her as my attorney. My friends are always in awe when they hear how much she has done for me. Recently I contacted her to help me with defaulted support payments. Again, she quickly responded and worked tirelessly to find a solution to a very complex and unusual set of issues.
As a client, I felt cared for, listened to, understood. I appreciated that she was very clear, straightforward and honest about what we had to deal with. She had an unique ability to handle many things thrown at her at once and also to meticulously focus on very complicated aspects of legal procedures. She researched, strategized and represented me with finesse and with a remarkable memory of the numerous details. If you are looking for traditional legal counsel, where every moment is calculated and you dare not send off yet another reminder email, for the cost of it— then I do not recommend this firm.
This firm is radically different. Elyse is simply cut from a different cloth.

I retained Atty Griffiths several years ago when I was going through my divorce. John and the entire staff at GYL were kind, competent, and personable. The kind part can be crucial when you’re going through some thing as emotionally charged as a divorce. Thanks to John , I was able to have an 85% share of the custody of my two children which was very very important to me during that time. Before hiring GYL I interviewed with at least six other local attorneys with “good” reputations and I didn’t feel confident leaving any of their offices. That was 11 years ago . I recently retained the services of Atty Griffiths again as my ex husband sought to eliminate my spousal support. I was met once again with the same knowledgeable, professional, and personable team . We were referred to John Griffith, at GYL from our former Attorney. I specifically was looking for an aggressive attorney that would yield results. John, Josh and Firm performed flawlessly, and did not disappoint!
Our case was complicated, and needed swift emergency action regarding child custody and restraining orders. John and Josh prioritized our case and executed masterfully producing life changing results for my family and I.

I almost never do reviews for anything. this has been a completely different experience from my first counsel and for the better. Coenenberg Familt law gets it. It's very had to deal with divorce and loss for time with children and the last thing you want is to worry about is if you have counsel who actually cares. you won't have to worry about that here.
I found the entire staff to be understanding, empathetic, professional and prompt with phone calls and emails.
Like I said, I never to reviews but this is important and I hope that it helps people in finding the right Lawyer. I couldn't have asked for better in a very very stressful time.

If you are going through a high conflict case, please do yourself a favor and do not hire this attorney. She will not fight hard for you. Rather, if the odds are not in your favor, she will just take an L and try to negotiate that L.
That’s basically what she did with me. She even admitted to me that “when the facts are not in my client’s favor, I will try to negotiate an agreement that is better than the court will order.”
In other words, she will SURRENDER and negotiate the terms of the surrender. What is the point of that?!! I can do that myself. If I wanted to surrender, I wouldn’t be looking for an attorney to fight for me.
I had a very high conflict case where the other attorney fought very hard for her client. She asked for things that were politically incorrect. Such as removing custodial time from me, removing presumed father status, and asking for sole custody for her client, amongst other things.
When it came time for my attorney to ask the court to object her move away, so that my ex doesn’t take my son with her, this attorney was 100% USELESS. She started settling everything outside the courtroom in favor of my ex ultimately getting her move away.
She even told the court that the parents have come to an agreement, which was a big fat lie. It was the attorneys that came to an agreement, not the parents. And that was because this so called attorney does not have the PERSEVERANCE to fight in court .
To this day, I CRINGEEE just thinking about the whole experience. I just hope that no one else has to go through what I went through and be scammed out of their hard earned money.
I confronted her about the whole situation and the fact that she ended up talking me into agreeing to something I did not want to agree to. And she had the audacity to say that I would’ve been granted less time and that I cannot rewrite history. It’s not up to you, it’s up to the court to decide her move away or not. Your job as an attorney is to object it. But if you are not equipped enough to fight in court then maybe you should just not participate in high conflict cases.
Her attorney never came and settled with any of my attorneys. She fought tooth and nail even when it was not in her favor to remove custody and parentage from me.
I don’t understand why Ms. Perkins partnered up with her. Perkins is 100x better than her and is not afraid to object or fight in court.
There was a point when we were sitting down and Payne specifically read over a line that read “parents shall not use corporal punishment towards the child,” paused, looked at me dead in the eyes for like 5 seconds. It was a very ACCUSATORY stare. Almost like she was accusing me of using or intending to use corporal punishment against my son. She was obviously NOT on my side and was obviously believing the false allegations that my ex made against me. Very disgusting.
When I spoke to her over the phone she cut me short after like 2 min and said she needs to go because she needs to pick up her son. So why even answer if you’re busy?
There’s attorneys that fight hard for their clients and there’s attorneys that don’t give their heart out and are simply there to collect some money and take easy Mickey Mouse routes. This attorney unfortunately falls under the second batch.
To sum up, this attorney doesn’t respect you as a person or as a client.
Please, if you have a high conflict case, save yourself lots of stress and headaches and just look for a different attorney that will actually respect you and fight for you.

I called Shannon's office last week, regarding complex, atypical, domestic violence issues, with an individual located in Los Angeles. Shannon was recommended by lawyer Kelly Chang. Shannon personally, returned my call the next day. I have been searching for legal help for over 3 years. Shannon is the first lawyer to substantially help me. I wish I could have her as my attorney! Unfortunately, Shannon informed me, I would need to find an attorney in NY- where I reside. Shannon listened to my story for two hours- free of charge- even though she knew, I would not be able to hire her!! Shannon displayed exceptional compassion, and kindness- while advising me re: the best course ahead. Shannon is the first person, to take time to listen carefully, and give me hope for the future. Her youth proved advantageous, in understanding technological aspects of my case. The sweet smile in her photo gave me the courage to call her- since I have dreaded calling attorneys after so many have been so unkind and disrespectful- (most hung up /cut me off in less than 5 minutes). Shannon's photo did not lie- she is an honest, sweet person- of great integrity. I will be forever grateful to her. Ms.Payne is the best attorney I've ever worked with. I was dealing with a custody case that wasn't only about custody but about protecting myself and child from abuse during exchanges and allowing me to have employment without the other parents interference due to spite. The other parents attorney had no issue slandering me and appeared to allow her client to fabricate whatever they perceived helped their case. Ms.Payne was very ethical, but tactical and found very substantial, truthful evidence that showed the other parent to be not credible in their false claims. She also listened to me when I told her specific items that were important for my child's best interest and she passionately but respectfully got the court to rule in my favor. Ms. Payne works hard and thorough with minimal drama, she handles narcissistic and Cluster-B personality types with a poised, firm, diplomatic approach that is less argumentative and more about finding a solution while protecting her client and their position.

We made a consultation appointment paid 100$. We start off with him constantly burping and slurring his words. Something felt off when he kept asking the same questions. He wouldn’t write notes of anything we would tell him then would ask us the same question we just answered literally seconds ago. We ended up walking out. We got frustrated that he was not listening to any information we were giving him. This is the worst especially when you come for help and you get someone who does the opposite

I am very disappointed really about the whole Experience. I went to David due to his reviews and all of the things I have read that has wrote about high conflict divorce and fathers rights. I guess I should have gone with don’t judge a book by it’s cover cause the book was horrible! I was charged different amounts for the same initial meeting twice. One charge was 400.00 the second one was 540.00. I was billed 3500.00 for never going to court. One extension for trial was faxed in and a couple phone calls that was it. I could never get him to answer my calls once he took my money. I had to call from my girls friend phone to get him to answer. Don’t waste your time. Those other reviews are fake I heard him joking about a couple of them the one time I did actually have something you might call a meeting(which was the initial meeting). If you want a Attorney that will let your ex spouse just leave with your kids out of state and do nothing this is your guy !!! Even know he promises that he will do his job and do the ex parte and then not answer his phone for days this is your guy!!! I hope you get the picture!!! Other than that nice guy somewhat clean cut, has no style and shouldn’t be a attorney or is just over the hill at this point !

This review has been a long time coming. Over the years I've been struggling with a huge stolen identity issue that has caused a lot of problems and it was affecting my driver’s license status. Dealing with government agencies can be time consuming and draining and you find yourself getting nowhere in a hot second; I was at the end of my rope. A friend referred me to David. Found him to be knowledgeable, friendly, and over all a good attorney to work with. Unlike many other attorneys’ I have worked with he asked his questions, pulled the emotion out of the situation, and got the problem fixed. It wasn’t easy but he was relentless. Its rare to find an attorney that gets invested in his client and worries more about solving the problem than the amount of hours he can bill. David, you literally saved my life. Since then I’ve found him to be useful on many other little things in matters of the law and his guidance is something I know I can rely on. Mr Sizemore is the best attorney you can ever ask for!!! He is extremely knowledgeable and professional. Divorce is one of the hardest times you can ever go through. When it feels like your world has crushed and you are defeated the key to success is to find the right attorney. I was fortunate to find Mr. Sizemore. He has very strong ethics and he can instantly lay out all the facts and guide you towards the right solution. He was very patient with me and explained all the complex legal concepts to make sure I fully understand everything. He always has his clients best interests and truly cares about you! I worked with Joanne on a prenuptial agreement. This was my first time dealing with a lawyer so I had no idea what to expect. Joanne was extremely professional, responsive, and easy to work with. She explained the process to me very thoroughly and I truly feel like she had my best interests at heart. If it weren't for the the opposing counsel's side, the process would have wrapped up within a few weeks due to the quick speed at which Joanne is able to work. I would definitely work with Joanne again on any legal matter related to marriage/divorce, although I certainly hope I won't have to :)

After spending 10,700 Ms Garrett told me to negotiate my own settlement with my ex husband. All she had to do was help me enforce the divorce decree.
She could not remember my name or anything about my case when we spoke but charged me for everything.
I got screwed twice, once by my ex and then by Ms Garrett. Do your homework before thinking about hiring any lawyer, don't hire them based on 5 star reviews.
Check out their track record first or you might as well throw your money in the toilet.

Linda Garrett is a gem! I was nervous about the process, I was worried about the quality of service and uncertain about the cost. I called Linda's office and scheduled a consultation. During our complimentary consultation, which she offers for 10 to 15 minutes, as an opportunity to explain her services; I could sense her level of integrity. She explained the process and shared my options in depth, she even gave me some suggestions of what to do and not to do when communicating with the courts, in event I chose to represent myself.
I tossed and turned the night after our free consultation because I knew I needed a lawyer, but I was worried about the cost. After obtaining Linda's rate, I researched for hours trying to determine the going rate, and I discovered that Linda's rate of service is definitely the norm within the law industry.
Since I had such a good feeling about her, I scheduled a one-hour consultation, where I was able to share the details of my case; at that time, I felt affirmed that I needed to retain Linda. Before the call was over, I asked Linda if she would represent me, and she said "Yes!". What a relief, I thought. Note: She was on time for both calls! And her Assistant is super friendly and accommodating.
We synced our schedules, I sent the required paperwork and payment, and about a few days later, we spoke again by phone to complete the court documents (Family Law). It was an AWESOME experience, Linda completed the paperwork with me on the phone, she asked me questions and shared what she was typing as she went. After the paperwork was done, Linda sent me a copy to review and provide any edits, if I had any.
I had no corrections, everything was flawless!!!!!!
The next communication was when Linda emailed me to confirm that the paperwork had been filed, and the next step after that was our court date.
On the court date itself, we met each other 15 minutes early to check-in. I was so happy to see her! Her appearance was very professional, and her energy was kind and supportive. While I was so anxious, I am certain that if I didn't retain Linda, my experience would have been much different; and probably not as promising.
The day went smoothly, and Linda's defense granted a dismissal.

I retained Maxine Ho as my attorney for a period of time between 2019 and 2020. Due to early mistakes on my part, my divorce case had turned complex and was challenging for just about any attorney to turn around. I was fortunate to have Maxine consider representing me given the circumstance.
Maxine is a great attorney who is efficient, polite, honest and responds in a timely manner. She has the ability to apply aggression if and when necessary, and she also stands her ground if and when in disagreement with her client, with good intention and in good faith - in saying so, I can highly recommend her.
I have not come across decent attorneys even after an extensive search over a period of 4 years; however, I can say that Maxine is one of the few good ones.

I have nothing but good to say about her professionalism and the way she handled and continues to handle my case. She is very realistic and doesn't sugar coat or promise unrealistic things. Anytime that I need to talk to her, she always calls me back right away.
Some lawyers tend to be very loud, aggressive, rude and even nasty in court, which irritates most judges. That is not her style. Marina is very respectful and she handles everything with dignity. During court she stays calm, but very firm at the same time. She is good at exposing lies and knows how to ask the right questions to do that. Like some of us do, I found myself having a wonderful child with a not so wonderful partner. Soon enough the relationship went from terrible to worse, and I needed to get a custody order in place. Because of the complicated nature of child custody, I was referred to Nathan.
As it turns out, Nathan is the kind of attorney you can only hope is on your side of a child custody case. He walked me through every step of the process. Within days of our first phone call, I was reviewing a Request for Order. He walked me through the Declaration of Income and Expense Reports, the Plaintiff's responses. He explained in detail what each and every word meant.
During the deposition, Nathan was more prepared then I could ever have imagined. He was direct and pointed, and extracted information that would be very helpful during court.
Within months of serving an RFO, I quickly learned that I had been served with a restraining order. Scared out of my mind and spinning in circles, Nathan helped me navigate through it. Not only was he my lawyer, but he came a confidant. He helped me with the visit from the sheriff's department and the painful supervised visitations.
The week prior to my first court date, I spoke to Nathan everyday about what the court proceeding would be like. He was very honest with me and told me that there is nothing you can do to prepare for testifying in a child custody case. He was right. There is nothing like it that I have ever experienced, but because of the relationship we had developed over the course a few months, it more was like talking to a friend across the table instead of sitting in a courtroom.
On Nathan's cross examination, he was able to discredit the Respondent and get the restraining order removed.
If you ever find yourself in my situation, I would highly advise that you hire Nathan. He is a great lawyer, he cares, and he will argue your case until he is blue in the face. I would give him ten stars if I could.

Bit I would guess that most people looking for this type of attorney really need help. Dena is the 3rd and final attorney we consulted and retained. We had two terrible experiences before finding her. I would never recommend anyone to use Emily as their attorney. I hired her many many years ago to represent me for my child custody/ support case and she did nothing to help me. I did all the leg work by providing her all my documents, going to the court to retrieve old documents from previous cases with the father of my children. The day of court she showed up with no paperwork, good thing I was prepared and had a copy of the whole case with me that she used. After months of not hearing from her with an update she informed me the judge threw out my case due to the other parent having outstanding violations and that I could pay the tickets myself to live forward which turned out to be a lie years later. I went to the court to try to proceed with the case on my own and the staff thought I was crazy and advised me to fire my attorney because they hard record she showed up to court on an unknown date and represented me and the judge did actually grant me full custody and child support which I did not know about for years. When I asked for the final documents they informed me the child support will not be valid since the attorney filed the order after hearing incorrectly and left off the child support but it was mentioned in the minute order. Per the court staff I would have to refill all the paperwork and serve the other parent again and go before a judge. It’s impossible for me to serve the other parent as he is in jail far away and financially I do not have the funds nor time to do this as this has been a case going since about 2013. Do not waste your time or money because you will be left doing the attorney work on your own.

Rachel has been the most valuable person to help navigate through a very complicated and extremely messy custody battle, which had been going on for 2 years prior to hiring her as my attorney. As much as I appreciated Lisa's expert legal insights and her ability to communicate those well, her office operations and paralegal support was lacking in my case. I had numerous paralegals, which caused confusion and delays. Then Lisa was suddenly unavailable (for personal reasons, I think, which can happen), and my case was handed off to a more junior attorney who did not know me, was not especially good at giving support, and who spent a lot of time collaborating with a financial expert that the firm hired to help strategize in some grey areas regarding what was community property vs. my ex's separate property. They had a legal strategy that fell on its face when it was presented to the mediating judge, and this junior attorney had no plan B... throughout the rest of the mediation they gave no help in legal strategy or negotiating advice, but left me to make all the decisions on my own. I ended up with far less than I had been led to expect, and my legal and financial consulting bills were huge. Lisa never reached out to me personally to explain her absence, and when I shared that I was disappointed in how things ended up, she was sadly very defensive of the junior attorney and took no responsibility other than to waive a few minor fees on the final invoice. I think Lisa is talented, but not sure she's good at managing a team. The office seems to have a history of turnover.

She means what she says, and says what she means, in a clear and understandable voice. Lisa is very attentive to her clients and is almost always available to answer any question no matter how insignificant you may feel it is. If Lisa is not available then Sharon is.
