As I near $40k, and over a year and a half in divorce expenses, I could not imagine having a better lawyer and ally than Dave Schanbacher. In divorcing the daughter and sister, of two county judges (from the county in which we and our children live), Dave has brought a superior knowledge and accountability to a flawed system. His profound expertise has enabled him to sort out fact from fiction, and to beautifully navigate what is clearly an uphill battle, and an arduous process. While we still have much work to do, I can’t imagine having a better and more trustworthy attorney. My only regret, is that I didn’t hire Dave as my first attorney; instead opting for a local, and egregiously less talented local (Bellefonte) attorney.

Hired him for my divorce. Definitely laid it on thick when first met him. Provided him with detailed and organized information. Paid him considerably to review information and to be prepared. None of that happened. He was so disorganized and unprepared in court. I found times where I had to bring information to court that he already had, but wasn’t prepared with. He still fumbled through and couldn’t present case. Pretty embarrassing. I give you one example of many. We had to go in front of divorce master. Both parties had appraisals done. One item a four wheeler was appraised $1600.00 of any book value. I pointed this out to Dave way before meeting to submit for evidence. He said just bring to meeting. Needless to say divorce master wouldn’t except it because it wasn’t submitted for evidence. Thanks Dave you just cost me $1600.
This is just one of many mistakes. I really considered firing him, but at the time I couldn’t afford another retainer. Believe me I checked with other lawyers. When I told them what was going on, they just shook their heads.
I hope someone who reads this,learns from my mistake. Looks somewhere else. I will say this about Dave, he’s a shark when he’s trying to get more money from you. Too bad it doesn’t follow into court. Sad display for a lawyer claiming to have all this experience. Good luck.

My letter to Joseph, still waiting on a repsonse from him:
Dear Joseph,
I wish to express my concerns about your last representation. In no way am I upset about the outcome of the recent custody conciliation. What I am very disappointed in is the total lack of guidance you had offered me when I had presented at your office in January. As a matter of fact, we never truly discussed the current situation in your office prior to the conciliation paperwork even being completed. I truly believe that had you took the time to go through my documents with me, and properly guided me as to the criteria for the request I was making, that we would have reached the same recommendation back in January that I am facing now.
I know that there are no guarantees in legal proceedings. I do expect proper guidance and representation a month before the fact when I present for it and not in a quick twenty minutes just before the custody conciliation is to take place and be left to defend myself. I view these circumstances as unprofessional conduct and expect more from such an honored attorney.
It is therefore I believe I should be entitled to reimbursement for some of the legal fees I have incurred. These proceedings could have been timed more effectively had you given this matter the attention it deserved for the fees I have submitted for your time and services.
.....In short, Joseph didn't have the time for the prior consult I scheduled with him and he just took my check and filed the papers without knowing a single fact. Once we did talk just twenty minutes before the conciliation (a month later), it was all so clear that Joseph initiated the action way to fast and just blew my time and money which was completely avoidable had he done things in the correct order. Why any lawyer would file a case before talking to his client is just beyond me????? I will be finding a new attorney..................

Do not use this firm. They held money in escrow (in the $100s of thousands) for a domestic relations suit. However, they will now not releases the money according to the settlement Award and will not cooperate in distributing the funds. Now, I have to take further legal action against them to get my own money back. So unethical, unprofessional, and perhaps illegal....

I used this firm a while ago for a car wreck and thet got me a great settlement. Recently I used them for a neck injury and they got me 1/10 of what I should have got. I was extremely disappointed and upset. I had to call numerous times to remind them I was a client and was waiting. I talked to some other firms after I received my settlement and they told me they could have gotten me a lot more money. I would rather use Edgar Snyder than these guys again what an insult the amount of money I got for a neck injury. These guys are a joke now.

I was hit by a car on November 16, 2023, and it’s been a long road to recovery. Through a friend, I was recommended to Brendan Lupetin, Greg Unatin, and their associate Garrett Trettel. They were there for me every step of the way, guiding me when I didn’t know what to do and answering my questions pretty much anytime—day or night. They worked hard to get me the best results possible and even reduced some of their fees to help me. I wouldn’t recommend anyone else.

3 years ago my son and I were involved in a car accident. My son’s grandfather referred me to Lupetin & Unatin for representation for the accident. His referral came highly regarded due to him having a case where he was sued Duquesne Light for damages to his property and he won. So needless to say, I went with his recommendation.
Regarding my own case, the representation I received from Lupetin & Unatin was superb. I filed my lawsuit at the beginning of 2022 and they diligently gathered all the information needed to settle the case for me and my son. It took some time, but the end of 2024, they were able to get us a reasonable settlement and they only charged 25%. Garrett Trettel was representing us and he treated our case with the utmost importance and urgency, being very transparent of the necessary steps that had to be taken along the way in order for us to cross the finish line.
I can honestly say I am pleased and satisfied with the service I received from this law firm. I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again in the future.

I was fighting a losing battle against my mother for custody back of my son she had them for quite a few years and I had not the best background and it seemed like I was getting nowhere and there was no light at the end of the tunnel but then I found Salah Blaik and he helped me to finally reach the end of that tunnel and see the light. It took a little time and yes he is expensive but he is very much so worth every penny he takes the time out to get to know his clients their situation their family everything and is very honest with you and keeps you informed about everything covers all bases and puts the care and effort in to helping you. He got me custody back of my son and I couldn't be more ecstatic and grateful! I would recommend him to anybody who wants to make their family whole again.Thank you Salah Blaik for finally bringing my family back together again!

I cannot in good conscience recommend Attn. Tigue for anyone who needs fast resolution. I retained Stephanie to assist with my divorce and child custody and initially (after my retainer of 2500 was paid) she was responsive. However as time went on it would be days before she returned calls or emails, she did not take initiative and I often had to prompt her to get things done. When the safety of your children and assets are involved this is not acceptable. When I asked her to assist with child support I was required to pay a separate retainer and she was responsive for a day and then went back to ignoring my questions. I have had to show up in court pro se because my own attorney never responded. I asked for an itemized bill at least 15 times and never received one. I chose Stephanie based on a recommendation of a friend and they too are experiencing the same issues. She seems very nice however I truly would never recommend that anyone retains her.

In looking for a lawyer, I wanted someone close, with experience and a good reputation. I found that with Mr Gardner. Our initial meeting, he was very detailed in explaining the process. I had seen him a few times after and he thoroughly answered my questions and did not rush me through the appointment. I was also very happy of how the fee was worked out. My spouse had filed and I was only charged the hourly rate. Which I will forever be greatful for. I would also like to say that the receptionist at the Lititz location is a gem. She was always friendly and gracious. I seemed to have the last appointments of the day and never felt like I was holding her up from leaving for the day. Thank you again for your great service! Would highly recommend this practice.

She is so amazing and caring. She doesn't over charge like some other attorneys. She sincerely cares about her clients and asks questions. She even gave me a ride once to her office from the court house. I finally got primary custody of my son after fighting for it for around 4 years. Laura is professional, organized and absolutely has calls returned in a reasonable amount of time . She listens and can be compassionate at times. With that being said I would not recommend her if you are a male dealing with a PFA being filed. I never abused my wife in 11 yrs of marriage. I did not abuse her physically, emotionally, verbally or financially. I had a PFA filed and when it was served to me it was of a denied PFA because the judge saw right through it. However, due to persistence by outside pressures and the coaching by counselors at the Women's Resource Center , another one was filed with a couple of blatant and obvious lies and was granted. I hired Attorney Robbins to fight the PFA. The agreement was to fight it. I was devastated to even have my name in the same sentence with abuser or wife beater. When we got to court, Laura cowered to pressure from the Women's Resource Center and Assistant Prosecutor. I had only been to court a few time and never for a charge of abuse. Laura decided I should plead guilty. Her explanation was that if they can convince or prove of even one incident of abuse and I plead not guilty that it would be bad. I admit I forget the exact consequences. This happened several years ago and I have learned a lot since then. In the county in Pennsylvania that I live in now, my wife would not even have been granted a PFA or her PFA would have quickly been denied. Yet, due to inexperience in life and law I listed to Laura and plead guilty. She convinced me by asked Ng if I had ever raised my voice at my wife, now ex....I said well yes, but rarely and I did not yell or step or call her names. Laura said something like but you raised your voice and that's enough. Now, in Laura's defense, when this happened, abuse by men was a hot topic in Centre County. A retired State Trooper had around that time gone into a Weis Market in Philipsburg and shot his estranged wife. In a custody exchange a man shot and killed his ex wife at a Sheetz on Buffalo Run Road. As you can see I'm being honest and explaining the whole story. But the thing is, I really did not abuse my ex. In fact a couple times she abused me and even got a summons from a state Trooper for smacking, hitting and scratching me up. We should of fought it, she should of fought it. Does anyone understand the consequences of a PFA being granted by a judge during a separation, custody and divorce. I'm not even going to describe or explain how bad pleading guilty to that PFA did that day, I could write a small book about all the consequences that followed. A couple of quick highlights...In the very beginning of this s mess it became a major issue to even see my kids. I also could not work certain community service events that I like doing and lost many job opportunities. It got worse from there. I cannot speak to how well she does with custody and alimony, I did not use her for that. As for tough cases, fighting false PDA's, no way. Also if I could go back in time I would file for malpractice.

I must say how much I appreciate Laura and her attentiveness to her clients. She was the fourth attorney I saw in State college and the one that got my divorce finalized. I did some of the work to eliminate cost, but she made this happen.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I was going to file bankruptcy and was told I had to pay them $1,500 upfront, that was fine and I paid. I had other things come up that were not so good so I did tell them to hold off on processing papers. At this time nothing was done on their end, all I did was send papers in and they received them. I decided to not file for bankruptcy at this time. I reached out to them and let them know that and the first thing I was told was “no problem we will refund your money back”.. It has been over 4 months and i still have not received anything. I’ve called multiple times, I either cannot get ahold of anyone and nobody calls me back or I do get ahold of someone and they tell me they will find out what is going on but never do. I am disabled and have been waiting for my money back for months I think that is a ridiculous way to run a business you are supposed to have trust in. My advice is if you are going through hardships, and or need to file for bankruptcy please put your trust elsewhere!!!!

I was in a very bad situation and needed more help than just the Debt relief people. I wanted someone who I knew I could trust and that would not only help me but would give me support through the whole process. I knew Ken and his wife through a teaching job where I taught their 3 children. I knew Ken's reputation and Julie's. I knew I was in good hands because they knew me and my history. They gave me not only legal advice but also support throughout the entire process even into the court process which was very scary but with them behind me and their team I knew I was safe. I requested Jennifer's services to help me respond to a divorce proceeding and determine jurisdiction for a case. You expect a basic level of client service form any attorney, but this was severely missing from Ms. Dumin. I never received a briefing anytime before our court date. She was not readily available over email, as I had to send multiple follow ups. She came to court wholly unprepared and very flustered. She could not even answer basic questions on my behalf leaving me stranded and embarrassed. I understand that you are the legal expert but your clients are not idiots and it is your duty to keep them informed and step up as a professional. This was a disgusting experience through and through. I am surprised she is not immediately disbarred. The firm also had the nerve to try and charge me full price for the judge appearance knowing that I did not receive a proper deposition. I had to advocate for decreased charges. Ms Dumin, please don't practice law ever again, or work on your client service especially with "diverse" clients. We're not all stupid and you are not this god that is above approach. Humble yourself.

I hired Jill on a two occasions and both were criminal. Jill did an amazing job in both cases. The first case I had all of my major
charges dropped which would have resulted in jail time. The second case, Jill did another amazing job. I was looking at a few years in a state facility and Jill ended up working with the DA for me and getting me into a treatment program. Scott Ruth shows a never ending commitment to his clients. Scott is unrelenting, exhibits exceptional knowledge of the law and is very detail-oriented. These traits are invaluable in going through a divorce. He can be intense at times, but it's because he is invested. You will appreciate this quality in the end.
His paralegal, Angie, is also impressively knowledgeable, very organized, handles stress like a pro and is very compassionate. I felt they were genuinely invested in helping me to get through this and to get what I was entitled to.
Scott Ruth found a hidden almost $10,000. that my ex took and Art Beckers group had had my case for about a year prior and they never caught it. There's where attention to detail is a plus!

Jordan represents me in a contentious custody matter. The Delaware County court system is prejudicial to those without legal council. When it comes to the safety and welfare of the child it best to have great representation. Jordan has a good relationship with the hearing officer's, judges and lawyers. She is articulate, logical and passionate. These qualities are necessary when navigating the family court system. In my experience dealing with a obnoxious opposing council and a vengeful, narcissistic ex partner Jordan has no qualms about being cutthroat. Jordan has made my life easier with dealing with unnecessary litigation abuse. In my case I had to make stressful financial choices in order to have the best representation, Jordan was so kind and help me out financially and still preformed at her highest caliber. Throughout my two year custody battle the only thing I regret is not finding Jordan from the very beginning. If you are a loving, caring parent who is honest about themselves and your situation, wants what's best for your children, or is dealing with a difficult ex-partner this is the lawyer you need. In the Delaware County court system you will need a lawyer who isn't apart of the good ole boys club and can't be gaslit or manipulated. Go with Jordan she's your best bet.

Don’t let any of Carolyn’s so called credentials fool you. She is downright dirty and completely and utterly money hungry, at all costs to you and your child. I had her as an attorney in a very contentious and dangerous custody situation, and she absolutely never stood up for me or my very young child, and was more interested in taking advantage of me at my most vulnerable times when my son was being hurt, as well as trying to further her so called status within the courts by placating judges at every turn. Carolyn would literally bill me for hours, when I would call her while my child was being hurt and I was desperate for help. She would never actually offer any help but instead bill me for hours of time for calls while I was in dire need of help and then write petitions and bill me thousands more to do so. She overbilled me by 10s of thousands of dollars and my case went nowhere but south with her representation. My child has suffered immensely due to her disgusting greediness, and has had multiple diagnoses given the terrible situation he remained in for 2 years while she ‘mis’reaprsented me. It’s unreal that as a mother herself, she disgustingly chooses money over all else, and will never fight for you or your child. Disbar her.

He’s not the kinda of attorney that will make false promises for you to hire him. He’s very honest and up front. He also focuses on the big picture and how a judge will see things. He’s very knowledgeable on the laws. All around he’s a good attorney. We have kept him on retainer for two years now for child custody purposes and he has yet to let us Down. Elizabeth Molnar advised me to address my criminal case by initiating a PFA case. I spent $$$ for a paragraph and sat an entire day in court to submit it. They appeared with me on the scheduled hearing date, knowing it would be postponed, and charged me another $$$.
She told me I needed to hire a criminal lawyer 2 days before my case because they didn’t have one to send, that was another $$$$. But that firm showed up, exceeded the desired expectations THIS firm requested to win the PFA, and did it with one court visit that lasted 30 minutes.
The PFA hearing was postponed again, another full day in court, then wasn’t given clear billing expectations moving forward. She handed off the case to Meghan Zupanic. An emergency arises, there’s a PFA violation, Elizabeth was on vacation, Meghan took 2 days to respond, the lack of action resulted in a PFA being filed against me.
Told them I planned to change firms, Elizabeth offered me a lower flat fee, promised to address my concerns about lack of urgency or communication, I paid them another $$$$. They made no effort to communicate or keep me informed, likely because they weren’t doing anything to prepare or ensure the desired outcome for the cases.
I did the investigative research that Elizabeth suggested, said she would do, and then didn’t. I researched claims and accusations, pointed out lyes, and provided evidential proofs that could be used in my case. Meghan was so ill prepared for the case that the judge was genuinely frustrated. While my character was being ripped to shreds, the JUDGE asked why she wasn’t objecting. She had dates wrong, hadn’t reviewed crucial parts of the case. The conclusion? Another full day in court. My case for the PFA violation was dismissed and a Temp PFA was granted against me.
They have negated any validation I had of being a victim from the criminal trial. I relived all my trauma to provide them the resources to protect me from being fearful of them ever happening again. He got to walk away smiling, calling himself the victim, while I have to live with the perpetual fear of being arrested if he sees me somewhere.
While I hate to leave such a terrible review, its impact will pale in comparison to how their terrible service has impacted me. They refused to provide me any billing details. They couldn’t speak to a single reason or cause for their negligence other than blaming the JUDGE. They dwindled the possibility of a partial refund so I could seek new counsel, they suggested they would take action to try and remedy part of the outcome, but what they really did was just exhaust any legal window I had for recourse.
The negligence, the lack of professionalism, lack of accountability, blame shifting, failure to honor the terms of the retention contract that was signed, is all just absolutely appalling. As they’ve made zero effort to remedy any of this, and have in fact made it worse, I will be filing complaints with all the necessary legal entities. I implore anyone seeking genuine help to look elsewhere.

Will you be charged for phone calls and emails? Of course. But her rates are reasonable and her experience is extensive, so she will not waste your time, or hers for that matter. When you reach out, she responds within the day, sometimes the hour if you catch her between hearings. She is a warm soul that clearly wants to help her clients get what they deserve.
